Dr. Chen & Staff- including meatball the pug were all fantastic. Very kind, thorough with the exam & helpful with training for contact lenses. What are the odds that the new optometrist I would find in my area would have an office PUG?! I'm obsessed! They had a large range of frames and were very helpful in training me with the insertion and removal of contact lenses. The gentleman up front got me checked in quickly and gave me pricing on contact lenses. He was very kind and helpful. Sorry to forget your name! Take a stop at Ziggy's. You won't regret it! read more

Stopped in coming back from another shop across the street after not finding any frames that fit there, they greeted me and noticed my glasses frames were damaged and loose and offered to fix them. Of course took them up on their offer so after a very quick spin to the backroom he had them clean, tight and looking like new all over again. Ended up being next to nothing which did take about 10 sec but that's just an indicator of their skill). Anyway, it's just rad to walk into a place and realize there are good people and good places left. Didn't end up buying new glasses here today but you can bet your ass when I need to I'm going to make a point to go out of my way and get them here. read more

After a not so great experience at Lenscrafters I was so pleased with the way my appointment went at Ziggys. Awesome, pleasant location with plenty of parking. Greeted by "Meatball" the cute, friendly resident doggie. Dr. Chen is very pleasant and clearly very experienced. The appointment couldn't have gone better. I have my Optometrist for life. read more

Absolutely a fantastic experience. I cannot say enough positive things about my interaction with Dr. Chen. Really loved my old optometrist but due to insurance restrictions I was forced to look elsewhere. The initial frustration of having to find a new optometrist is in the rear view mirror now and I couldn't be happier. I believed my previous optometrist did a good job (and to an extent they did) but Dr. Chen is on another level with how thorough her exams are. Never felt rushed as we went through several different contact lenses trying to get that perfect prescription. Ended up with two different strengths to trial before I place an order. Super clean office with friendly professional staff members. 5 stars hands down! Thank you Dr. Chen. read more

Excellent professional and friendly service from Dr. Yau-Ru Chen and Rene. The office adhered beyond CDC guidelines as far as safety and cleanliness. Had a thorough eye exam and picked up my eyeglasses over the weekend and I haven't had any issues whatsoever and enjoying wearing them. I can see clearly now :) Such a great experience and will definitely recommend their office. Thanks so much! read more

I had a great experience getting an eye exam. The doctor was very thorough & explained everything as we went along. Picked out some great frames & am excited to wear them. super friendly & personable staff. 100% recommend! read more

I called and scheduled an appointment for my son. The person who scheduled the appointment was negligent and did not save the appointment in their system and double booked the appointment. My son showed up and was turned away. My son called me while at the appointment so that I can confirm that I made the appointment he asked me to speak with person who was turning him away. The person was initially apologetic but when challenged about his negligence and what my son is supposed to do when we cannot accommodate his mistake he became irrational and unwilling to fix his mistake. This was totally unprofessional. He went on to say that customer service works both ways which again proves his inability to be in customer service as the service should be geared towards the customer and not the person who was at fault for not properly booking the appointment. I personally had a good experience with the Doctor when I had tried them out a year ago. But unfortunately due to this person's negligence and poor customer service, I will not be returning to this establishment. There are too many providers that are more than willing to make right their wrongs than for me to be subjected to this kind of behavior. read more

I have been a patient for 10 years here. The entire team is friendly and smart and Dr Chen is as nice and fun as an eye doctor can get. I actually look forward to seeing them every year! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Chen for years. She is wonderful person and I recommend her to everyone that I know. If you need an eye exam, glasses, contacts or a referral on the latest place to eat or travel, Dr. Chen is that Optometrist. I look forward to my annual visit! read more

I've been to a couple optometrist and nothing hits home like Ziggy's. Dr. Chen takes her time, guides you and helps you understand what she's doing. Her staff there are amazing, very welcoming and super down to earth. Let's not forget about lovely Meatball!! If you're looking for a family feel Ziggy's is the place to be! read more

I had to face the fact my eyesight has been challenging me lately. So, searched yelp for eye exams and my neighbor Ziggy's popped up. I have been walking by and waving at Meatball for almost 10 years now... finally had an excuse to go in and deliver a few skritches. Unfortunately Meatball was taking the day off. Meanwhile, Dr. Chen was everything other reviewers are applauding. She takes her time and explains everything she finds in detail.. then comes up with a few alternative solutions, listing the pros and cons of each. By the time we were finished, I felt like we were old friends. Forthright honesty is such a refreshing thing to come across. read more

Very friendly staff. Dr. Chen was thorough with her exam. I appreciated how quickly I got back both my glasses and contacts.

Dr. Chen, Jose and Rene are amazing and super friendly! If you are in need of an eye exam and some great options for frames, no need to look any further. I highly recommend Ziggy's Optometry for all your eye needs. read more

My eyes are very picky with a difficult prescription so I was so happy to find Ziggy's Optometry. They dialed in my complex prescription the first time and helped me pick out the perfect stylish eye frames. The entire team is courteous, on-time, and thorough. WE LOVE ZIGGY'S OPTOMETRY!!!!! My husband and I looked up this location up on our provider list to get our eyes checked and obtain a new prescription for my hubby. We loved the location and website.....Meatball was so cute! We have two dogs and live in Newport so we figured with the location we'd make a walk out of it from the Peninsula to Lido. Staff is great!! VERY friendly and you feel at home...they let our two dogs, Sandy and Juno, come in! All of the dogs togegther were very well behaved and Meatball is a very good greeter. She loved playing and laying near our dogs. Dr Chen is very warm, inviting, personable and knowledgable. We can't wait to do our yearly eye checks now! And yes, Ziggy is there as well. Great classic local business. We love supporting our local businesses. We also love that they welcome us ..even with dogs! When you make your appointment, Renato is very polite as well. Your first call is also an enjoyable experience. We highly recommend!!!! :) THE BEST! read more

I am so happy with Dr. Chen and her staff. They are so professional and NICE! I went on the first day they opened amidst this Covid 19 pandemic. Their office adhered to the strictest health standards, taking my temperature twice and having me wash my hands countless of times while everyone, including me, wore a mask. I have not had an eye exam since 2012. (Yikes) and had broken an old contact lens. I usually hate to be remiss with my eye health but Dr. Chen put me at ease with no chastising. I was given a choice of soft lenses versus gas permeable ones. Dr. Chen fitted me with soft lenses to try out and gave me all the information I needed to make a choice. I was also fitted for glasses and found the ones I wanted. I am so satisfied and highly recommend Ziggy's Optometry. read more

Great experience with Dr. Chen! She's helpful, provides me recommendations when my first set of monthly contacts weren't comfortable, and has no problem answering all my questions. She recommended some daily contacts for me and they work out great. She explained to me my vision insurance plan and what it covers. I will probably be back here again for glasses when that time comes. And they have a cute office pug! read more

Thankfully, I have great vision, however if anything were to happen, this is the place I would go to. I found this place on Yelp, and was able to schedule a same-day appointment for a regular eye exam. The gentleman that attends the reception area was very helpful and understanding. Once all the paperwork and initial testing were taken care of, Dr. Chen came out of her office and greeted me with a warm welcome. Then she went through all the steps, and took the time to explain everything. She was very nice and made sure that I did not feel like just any other patient. I had some complaints about a minor pain in my right eye, and she quickly determined the cause and gave me a handful of eye drops to take home. Needless to say, I left feeling great, and am a lot better now. Although I came here for a basic exam that I like to do every couple years or so, I can comfortably say that this place will take care of you whatever your complaints are, and you will rest assured knowing that you will receive nothing but stellar treatment. Plus, who could say no to a place named Ziggy's? read more

BEST OPTOMETRIST i've EVER had!!!!!!!! All of the staff are SO NICE! Plus - they're animal lovers! Meatball, the pug is always there to welcome you! Dr. Chen makes you feel so comfortable and remembers EVERY little detail about your vision. It's impressive. I won't go anywhere else from no on. Parking is convenient. Such a huge selection to choose from as far as glasses and sunglasses. You won't get better service anywhere else. read more

Love this place! Friendly staff and Dr. Chen is great. She was very honest about my vision and what I did and did not need as the last doctor I saw told me I needed glasses. Their hours are great, I was able to get in on a Saturday which is incredibly convenient. The day I went was slow so the doctor and I just chatted for a while after my exam. She has a very fun personality and is just a really cool person in general. read more

I was in town for business on 8/2/14 and realized I didn't pack my contacts. I had my optometrist from where I live e-mail me over my prescription and Ziggy's Optometry provided me a free sample pack to hold me over for the weekend. Without those contacts I wouldn't have been able to work and the whole weekend would have been been a big waste of time and money. Thanks for being so accommodating! read more

Had a very good experience here. Everyone was very friendly and down do earth. I will use them Again in the future and recommend for my family to use them. I also love my glasses and I am very excited to pick them up. I was going to LensCrafters in fashion island, but I actually like Ziggys more. read more

Ziggy's has been my eye care provider for many years now. This place is the very opposite of a mill, with personal attention rarely seen anymore. Dr. Chen is patient and kind, and goes the extra step to get you towards the best prescription for you, and answers all your questions. The rest of the staff is helpful and personable. They've got a great frames selection in a wide price range if you want to buy & get fitted there, but otherwise you can just take your prescription with you as well. Highly recommended. read more

The staff is great. Dr. Chen is wonderful. They explained every thing so clearly

I have been coming here for several years. Dr Chen takes great care of my eyes and the staff is great. The same gentlemen have been working here for the entire time I've been coming -which speaks for itself - low turnover and as close to a mom and pop place you could hope to find. They have a great selection of designer + affordable eyewear. I highly recommend! read more

The best 1) optometrist 2) staff and 3) selection of glasses! Been going to Ziggy's for about 8 years and would never go anywhere else!

Greatest eye doctor I've ever seen. A friend of mine recommended that I see Dr. Chen as I was looking for a new eye doctor after relocating from the East Coast. Dr. Chen is as sweet and knowledgeable as can be. Plus, who could forget the legendary little weapon "Meatball" who runs around the office. Great service, location and people. Dr Chen and her staff are "wonderful"! I would go to no one else for my Dr exam or choosing eye ware. They are the best!

My daughter had her first eye exam here. She was scared at first but she had a great time there. The doctor was really nice and patient and really took the time with her. She was very good with kids too! My daughter said "She is being a good doctor". I like how they let you wash your hands, take your temp, oxygen and pulse when you arrive. Everything went so smoothly! All the staff were great too! read more
