First time trying this place and we've been missing out. It was very busy, so be conscious of what time you go there. We didn't wait long though. They have a rather large drink menu to choose from, so there's something for everyone. The chips are really thin and the dip options are fantastic. The black bean dip was a great appetizer, but there were two different salsas that were equally tasty, with the right amount of spice. We ordered a steak fajitachanga, which was delicious. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The portion was quite large and could have easily been shared. Another dish was the appetizer platter, that consisted of a quesadilla, jalapeño poppers, nachos, and some flautas. The quesadilla and nachos had steak, that was seasoned similar to the other dish. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was a little sweeter than I'd like, but I still enjoyed it. Our server was great and attentive. First of all, I would like to say every time I come here the staff is very nice very friendly always inviting . The food is incredible. Fresh hot comes out in a timely fashion. We stopped in for supper. They were really busy but we were seated quickly and got our drinks and placed our orders quickly. We got our chips and salsa quickly also. We had 4 different salsas which was fun. Lots to pick from. I got sour cream enchiladas and they were really good. I couldn't eat them all so took some home for the next day. When I was eating them at home I found a strip of plastic inside it. Didn't like that. My daughter had carnitas. They were in big chunks instead of shredded and they were tough and not well flavored. Was really impressed by this Tex-Mex cafe in the quaint town of Anna. I like to visit restaurants during the week to avoid noisy crowds, but was surprised when I walked in on this Tuesday and could barely hear the hostess because of the roar. Anyway, for the food: The chips are thin and delicious. They serve three types of salsas- black bean, tomatillo, and red. All very tasty. I ordered the Pollo En Mole which is chicken with Mole sauce and would not order again. The Mole had no flavor besides the chocolate base, but the added salad and charro beans were delish. I had family visiting me and Dallas and we drove up to Anna to meet my mom for dinner and it was absolutely perfect. It's a family-owned place and it is a very good size restaurant, perfect for small family dinners or even large gatherings with plenty of room for everyone and a really nice sized and well stocked bar. We ordered some margaritas, my mom opted for the strawberry margarita, my sister went with the classic and I got a sangria swirl because of the afternoon called for it. The staff is great and really attentive and our drinks came out shortly after we ordered them along with a basket of chips and three different dips. The chips came with a green salsa that seemed to have avocado mixed in with it that gave it a slight creaminess and it had a wonderful savory flavor, the red salsa was also really good but definitely a bit spicier and we all really enjoyed the black bean puree. As an appetizer we got the queso fundido which is basically a bunch of gooey, melty cheese with poblano peppers, mushrooms and onions served with corn tortillas, so in other words absolutely heavenly! As a main dish, my sister and I split the steak fundido which is a steak covered in more melty cheese, peppers and onions with rice and beans. My mom got the grilled quail and they were adorable and tiny and according to her, super delicious. Food was delish! White queso was thick and creamy goodness!! Music got a little loud around 5 PM. Service was fine. There was an odor I noticed as soon as I walked in and because of my commercial real estate background experience I explained to the manager what it was. It was only sewer gas odor which he remedied immediately. The sewer gas odor is quite distinct and all you have to do is pour water down the drains and it immediately dissipates. He was quite grateful to know what the problem is and that it had nothing to do with the grease trap. read more

Our favorite place to have our family dinners. It's hard to find a restaurant that will accept a large group w/o a reservation and keep us at tables together. These guys always take excellent care of our large family (16-18) with great service. The food is consistent and always great and the margaritas are the best in town. My wife and I come here about once a month. I love that they bring red and green salsa, I'm a sucker for some salsa verde. My favorite thing to order is Jamie's Favorite with the skirt steak and a cheese enchilada. The steak is always tender and the chili con carne on the enchilada sets the dish off. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is consistency. The chain restaurant is not so great, unless you're here just to drink which I don't do. I wanted to try it, but normally don't like Tex Mex as I am from New Mexico. Their salsas tasted too tart and their bean dip is mediocre and dry. I tried their Tamale, but it was mostly rolled up masa with a tiny bit of pork/chile sauce and not much flavor. Their fried onions toppings are deep fried and very greasy and dark brown, not worth eating. Their rolled up taquitos are hard to chew and cold in the middle and hard, like deep fried frozen taquitos, with minced chicken in the center and burnt ends. The main entree the meat is not rib eye it's a sirloin or flank and very salty as well as the chicken was over salted and not very tender. None of them are sliced diagonally unless you order the cut up, overcooked, stew meat they call carne asada. The mess of lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole is tossed all over your plate, which I would prefer separated to the side or on a separate plate. They do not have sweet tea at the one in Frisco. The plating of the food is terrible. Their tortilla chips are hard and not homemade. I don't call it TexMex I call it stuff yourself with crappy food and pay, a lot if it tastes like it came out of a can. You will get good size portions but I would rather fill up on something good and delicious which they are not. Tamales are small, and not worth eating unless masa dough is what you like. Chile Relleno is made with poblano chile I won't even go there. This place is not authentic. read more

Well today I went in and the girl at the counter couldn't hear me because of my mask, so she instantly copped an attitude. When I gave her my card, she snatched it out of my hand. Tried this place yesterday. Giving Tex Mex another shot. Called for pick up ready in 30 mins on a Sunday evening @ 5pm. What we ordered: 1. Chicken Flautas Plate 2. Brisket Tacos 1. 3/5 - pros- the pinto refried beans were yummy. The chicken inside the taquito (not flauta....) was tasty, well seasoned and well portioned. All the toppings came in a separate container on the side (guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and ..... nacho cheese). Which I am thankful for bc they were soggy & I 100% prefer to not have the nacho cheese on top. To be fair it does NOT taste good to slather everything in the yellow cheese people. Cons- the rice was petty terrible. Had a sour tomato taste. The tortilla they used for the taquitos was the dark yellow (extra cal in the masa) corn and a white corn tortilla would have helped the flavor and consistency of the deep fry portion of a taquito. 2. 4/5 - pros- looks like in house made tortillas used for the meat, they provided some meat consume for the tacos and all toppings on the side. Con- The rice was bad again. This one came with black beans that had been blended and liquified with spices in a separate container. Weird that they didn't give pinto with these. Salsa: again, sour tomato forward with minimal salt and any other flavor coming though. Pass. Complimentary chips: generous sized bag of thin restaurant styled chips. I ended up using these to eat my nacho cheese with instead of with my "flautas." My husband picked up the order and said all the ladys working there were mean, rude and short with everyone. So there's that. There is seating inside and outside and was moderately busy. He said it was decorated nicely inside. The parking lot is probably a big con though. Probably won't be eating there again to be honest. Tex Mex is just not that good and not my cup of tea. I'll make my food at home instead. read more

I went to have lunch today at 150 pm. The male older waiter who took my order had a large party, plus it looked like he also had 2 or 3 other tables way on the other side. I had asked for water to which took a long time. The best part was that I waited over 20 minutes to get my food..... I almost just left, I've should have. The young girl ( front desk) went to look and came back rather quickly with my food, I was surprised. It made me realize that my food sat for a long time ..... When I shared this with the manager his only comment was that right about now they are short one person in in the kitchen.... Also he said that my waiter was busy w a large party and a few other tables..... I'm thinking.... Why do I care to hear what is happening??? It is obvious that he is busy..... he never came back not once.. not even after I got my food.... Not good! I ended having to ask the girl in the front desk for a box to go and my check... I am rather shocked that the waiter showed up as I was actually paying for my food, the girl had brought my credit card slip and I was on my way home. There are so many issues with this situation that I just don't understand how this people stay in business...... To management; or the owner... A customer who waits for almost 25 minutes for a meal is unacceptable. Secondly , he does not care who is on break or that the waiter has 10 tables.... The first thing to address and knowledge is a simple " I am so sorry this happened . Let me do this or that..... no, he only justified what was happening thus making me wrong... Great Food , Large Portions, and Excellent Service! After overlooking this restaurant many times on my trips to the Walmart plaza, we finally gave this restaurant a try, and it is now my preferred choice for Tex Mex food in the Anna/Van Alstyne/Melissa area. Our love for this restaurant seems to be shared by many given the full parking lot on every visit whether weekdays or weekends. Our favorite dishes are the Burrito Avenue (with ground beef) and the #20 Special. The portions are generous, fresh, and delicious. It may not be the finest Mexican cuisine, but it is much better than Chili's or Fuzzy's Taco Shop. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. We have only ordered takeout, which is very convenient and efficient. You have to call to place an order, but I have never had to wait on hold for long, my orders have been accurate, and they have a dedicated pick-up spot with quick, attentive service. The bags are always well packed with all the necessary utensils and condiments. Though we have never dined in, I have observed that the restaurant is usually very crowded and a little loud, so I'm glad that we always take our orders home. read more
