We were hungry for some tacos and wanted something more authentic than Torchy's Tacos. This place got rave reviews online so I was excited to try it out. First impressions are important and this place failed that test quick. It's located in a dimly lit shopping strip next to an auto repair shop. We went at night so it was dark and felt kind of shady. We couldn't tell if the place was open until we opened the door and saw a few people dining. My kids ordered tacos, I ordered a pambazo sandwich and we ordered chips and queso and guacamole for starters. We waited 15 minutes and still had not received our chips and guac and queso. When we finally got them, the chips were stale, the guacamole was good but the queso was super bland. It took another 20 minutes before the entrees started coming out one at a time. The food tasted average, nothing really stood out as exceptional or good. It was just fine. As far as ambiance goes, the staff was super friendly so I'll give them an A for that. The restaurant was dirty and the bathroom was gross. Overall, this was not a very good experience so we won't be going back. read more

I had 1 pastor taco (best I ever had), 1 lengua taco (nothing special) and 1 bistek taco (no flavor and meat wasnt tender). Both the red and green sauces are spicy. Thank goodness they give you a pile of cucumbers with the tacos (which I thought was weird when I first saw it, but survived the burn by having them). There were only 2 other guests when we went on a Sunday for lunch. The food service was slow. The dining room was pretty basic with the napkin dispensers on the tables. Great Spot next to the airport! I would drive by this taco spot after landing at the McKinney Airport and would wonder how the tacos are. When I asked some people at the airport they did not even let me finish in asking "how is that taco spot down the street?" They just said "it's so good, we go there all the time!" So I thought I would give it a try. And they were correct! I love local food spots, and ones with good tacos couldn't be better. I was shy in my ordering and just ordered 3 Carne Asada Tacos. When they came out I was perplexed at why they were red. I have never seen it cooked like that before. But I was hungry and took my 1st bite and I was impressed. It was very, very good. Not very often do I find a great taqueria....well today I did! First off, $1.00 tacos is a plus and they don't skimp on these babies! The barbacoa is incredible! Almost buttery. Counter girl on cell phone when we walked in. Fairly extensive menu on wall. Decided to try tacos, since that is the house specialty. I ordered ground beef. My wife ordered fajita tacos. Price was on low side for local Tex-Mex. Asked counter girl what was the meaning of Los Chanos. She said it was a nick name and didn't elaborate. Didn't seem to care about much of anything. After 20 minute wait we got our order. Both of them were ground beef (my wife had ordered fajita tacos). Waitress said they were the same price. She did not offer to correct the order. No chips or salsa. Food was almost good. On the low end for the area. We won't be back. The place measures up to it's appearance. A dive! Any Mexican restaurant in the area has better food. If you want an authentic Mexican meal this is the place to go. You have to wait for your food to cook, which I love, so when you are served your food is hot and fresh. My favorite meals are the "Carne asada". It's served smothered in onions and cheese and accompanied with fresh refried beans and awesome Mexican style rice. The tacos are fantastic. EVERY SINGLE TIME i order, there's always something missing! Girl in front counter need to be removed or something. We've been buying since they used to sell from their house. We love their food but the service is literal shit. We've told the kids there about the situation and just laughed at us last time we told them we'd always miss something. They said they never missed anything when we asked them to check. WE checked the order in front of them and guess what, some food was missing.
