This restaurant was mediocre at best. I got a fajita burrito and my boyfriend got a bueno burrito enchilada style. The red sauce on his burrito wasn't flavorful and didn't really add anything to the dish. The lettuce in my burrito was rotten and I had to pull it out. The salsa on the salsa bar was salty and had too much lime juice in it. The guacamole was extremely salty, to the point that it was inedible. Our dishes included an enchilada style beef burrito, chicken tacquitos, and chicken tacos. All were completely tasteless. The taquitos were way over-cooked. Went to lunch here and had a chicken burrito. I have to say I only ate half because I really did not like it at all. They also charged me a dollar for sour cream. They do have a little salsa bar that was ok but I like chubby tacos so much better then this place. Maybe I'll try something different next time. Fresh made salsa everyday that's FREE. I love all the salsa that I've had from here. The tacos are okay. They're made to order, which is awesome, but they don't taste like traditional mexican tacos. The romaine lettuce they use it too leafy and they use flour tortillas, instead of corn (not very authentic). We've recently discovered Salsa Fresh and have returned several times since our first visit. Our 12yo always gets the California burrito, my DH always orders the bean and cheese burrito and I usually get the grilled chicken tostada salad. I've also had their grilled vegetarian burrito and chicken taquitos. Both are also good. Love their pico de gallo, and their queso is as yummy as the other reviewers say. My family had a perfectly enjoyable meal here but I have found that the previous yelp criticisms are pretty accurate. I lived between Tucson and Phoenix for 15 years and am allllll about a good divey Mexican food place. They have a fresh salsa bar for you to serve yourself from once you make your order. You can get tacos and quesadillas but this is primarily a place to get burritos. On the scale from inedible to mind blowing, I score the tortillas as pretty good! On my quest for the perfect tortilla in North Carolina I've been largely disappointed but the tortillas here were actually pleasantly surprisingly good. All of us got the build your own burritos. We got two veg, a pork and a steak. Everyone was happy but one order did come out wrong, which seems like a common issue on the reviews. But after we asked for it to be fixed, they fixed it. Overall this place is great for what it is. It's essentially a fast food Mexican joint that offers fresher, healthier options than Taco Bell. I like it for a fast bite when I'm in the area. The service is good and the prices are exceptionally cheap for what you get. If I weren't already a loyal fan of Cosmic Cantina, I would probably love this place. Ehhh, nothing special. I just moved here to Raleigh from Los Angeles and made a late night food run after a long day of unpacking. Queso dip was very mild and soupy, not really a dip. "Chimichanga style" chicken California burrito was filling but had no discernible seasoning to the filling. The wife had chicken taquitos and made no complaint. Salsa bar had nice selection but the "hot" was more like "medium" and all had a similar base flavor. Notably absent were the onions, cilantro and lime... I'm not sure what I'll miss more about LA. I work just down the road from Salsa Fresh and visit frequently for lunch for both carry out and eat in. It's nothing to write home about, but I love it as a quick, easy, tasty lunch option. (I'm writing this review over a vegi bowl and chips and salsa.) As a vegetarian, I appreciate having options on the menu! My absolute favorite is the nachos, which are packed with cheese, beans, pico, sour cream, guac, all over the house made chips. They are huge and two people could easily split one order for lunch. The salsa bar is also great; my favorite is the Rostizada (sp?). It's a small place and can get crowded over the lunch hour, but people are usually in and out pretty quickly. The service has always been good, even when they're really busy. My only gripe is that they carry Pepsi rather than Coke products. I try not to drink soda in general, but there's something about a cold Coke with Cali/Mex food that's just magical. read more

Tonight, I ordered the Carne Asada burrito with pinto beans, guacamole, onion and cilantro. Finally tasted close to a real taco shop burrito, no rice or fillers, real meat! Just as we got to our table, before we could take off our coats and sit down, the waiter kept asking us three or four times what we wanted to drink. We did order drinks and then our dinner. We were six people. It was very quiet but we had to wait a LONG time for our food and then it came one dish at a time. By the time the fourth dish came, the other three were already cold. Strange enough, the last dish to come was the soup. One of the items ordered was the Nachos special, but what was served was just a pile of tortilla chips with cheese sauce poured over it, without any of the other ingredients listed on the menu.
