I gave a 60th surprise birthday party. The food that we had (tacos w/all the toppings) were delicious! The meat (shredded chicken & beef) were seasoned to the gods. Plenty of parking- My husband and I went in for lunch after the little bit of snow Raleigh got- most places were closed. We were greeted at the door- they sat us immediately (place was almost empty) I had the chicken fajitas- no cheese - It was very tasty- plenty of vegetables and chicken- it came with beans , lettuce, 3 flour shells and a dab of guacamole (guacamole had no flavor) I would have liked some pico or tomatoes to go on my taco - it was still good- Our server was nice and attentive. Nice place in a strip mall of Green Level Ch Rd near a really good ice cream place. Clean and extremely colorful interior. The waitress serving me was very friendly and even brought more of the complimentary salsa when I was running low without me having to ask. I ordered the ACP with Veggies. The chicken was in thinly sliced strips with green beans, carrots and other stuff in the rice. That was topped with broccoli, squash and zucchini with a generous helping of tasty cheese. It was delicious. Overall a very pleasant experience. One of the best Mexican restaurants around. I'll be back to try some other dishes. read more

Great value for lunch! I came here for the first time today and my food was prepared quickly for take-out. I got chips + salsa, a burrito, and a taco for ~$10. Nowadays that's an amazing deal! The chips were reasonably tasty and fresh, and the salsa was flavorful. Not super spicy, but I do think they have other salsa options if you're interested. The (soft) taco and the burrito were OK - nothing amazing, but not bad at all. My stomach does feel a little bit unsettled a few hours after lunch, so I would say it's a tad greasy. Too tired to cook after a long day so decided to try a different Mexican restaurant from our usual haunt. Ambiance is typical Mexican with carved furniture depicting scenes of Mexico. It was a bit loud since there was a rather boisterous group on the other side of our booth. Service was ok. Our server didn't really check up on us. We had to seek her out. My rumchata (horchata with rum) was very tasty since it's made with their own horchata. The food overall is just ok. The tres magueyes dinner had a thin piece of chicken breast, a think piece of steak (to me it didn't taste very fresh), shrimp and veggies. The rice on our platters all came out cold. We had to seek the waitress out to let her know & she brought a replacement platter. Steak was on the chewy side. Chicken was a bit dry What I did like was the amount of veggies with the platter. This is our closest Mexican restaurant and I'm glad they're really good with their service and food. So whenever we crave some quesadillas or chimichangas, this is our place. I have never dined in there and have always done only pick ups. Asked for a 16oz beer, waiter said "for you my friend I'll give you a large." When the check came I was charged double the price for a 32oz beer. After confronting the waiter about the issue, their reasoning was "The new owner is Venezuelan and doesn't like when their food is critiqued." As an owner or Chef, if you overhear people privately critiquing your food take it as constructive criticism and improve. Don't punish the customer. As a waiter, if a customer asks for an item charge them for that item. Don't overcharge them for something you graciously offered. read more

We dined here on our first night in Raleigh. We actually came to this mall strip mall with the intentions of going to the Italian restaurant next door, but they were unwilling to seat us on the patio due to being under staffed. We were staying in a hotel and had our small dogs with us, so we needed a spot with outdoor seating. I looked the other way and spotted Los Tres Magueyes! Perfect! We grabbed one of their outside tables. We were quickly seated and the hostess offered us a dish of water for our pups, which is always appreciated! The server that took care of us was friendly and efficient! It's nice that the Mexican restaurants here are actually run by Mexicans. In South FL (where we just left) they are often owned by Cubans trying to pass half the menu off as Mex cuisine. We ordered two margaritas, they weren't super strong but for $2.50 we were pleased enough. We were quickly brought chips and they were also good. We did also order some chips with cheese, pretty tasty. My husband enjoyed his meal as well! I just got a small quesadilla. My dad and I stopped here for dinner out of the blue since Ricci's was closed. The interior of the restaurant was colorful and decorative. The menu looked decent and the drink specials looked very tempting and reasonable. I ordered the Tres Maguyes dinner and my father had the taco salad with beef. My Dad appeared to enjoy the taco salad because he did finish it. My Tres Maguyes dinner was very good and cooked well. The service was slow and some of the staff appeared not to speak English which is a concern when dealing with customers. I did take advantage of the $2.50 draft beer special which was very good. All in all, I would say this was a pleasant dining experience, but don't know if I would come back again because of the slow service. The chili verde burrito is my favorite dish here. The burritos are loaded with roasted pork and seasoned rice, then there are large portions of pork on top of the burritos. Cover all that tasty goodness with tomatillo sauce and it doesn't get much better. Their chips and salsa was also very good. The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa had a mild spiciness that was nearly addictive. The service was great and the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was delicious, and it had at least half or an entire avocado and a full dozen of large deveined shrimp. Cost: $12.99. The chips are heartier than most places, and the salsa is flavorful. The cheese dip was a bit runny but had good flavor. The guacamole was clearly fresh and included large chunks of avocado. The cheese quesadillas are exactly what they should be and are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Previous review: Service is decent. Food is average for a Mexican restaurant. The menu is standard. We tend to eat there often because it's convenient. I would have given them four stars, but.... What bugs me most is when you order take-out, you still have to pay for chips and salsa even though they're free if you eat in. We order take out for five people (and that's a lot of food), so you'd think they could provide some chips and salsa. They would if we ate there, so why not when we don't? I guess they know we'll pay for the bag of chips and a small container of salsa, so they might as well charge us for them. How much would you pay for chips & salsa? We pay nearly $5. Also, if you pay for two orders of queso dip, they will still only give you one bag of chips. If you order two dips separately (swiping your credit card twice), you get two bags of chips. Where's the common sense? Anyway, I hope the owners understand this review is NOT to make them start charging everyone for chips, but rather, it is to encourage them to provide chips and salsa if the take out order is of a decent quantity. Instead, I received overcooked rubber chicken drowned in tasteless water served on an open-face pepper. Enchilada: they did it. They found a way to make a bad enchilada. Bravo. Taco: the shell is stale. The chicken is dry and tasteless, much like how id imagine rubber to taste like. It is also drowned in water and topped with colorless shredded lettuce. The steak tacos are shaved steak and also served on hard tacos that looked like they are straight from the grocery store, the Chile con carne was a disaster, and the enchilada was bland. I am a very easy going fella. So here's the irritating part about restaurants that don't really seem to care any longer. Or have given up on trying to please the takeout customer. The food ends up like crap. I guess the first issue is we ordered delivery. But that's beside the point. I order a burrito with steak and shrimp etc... no tomatoes, and all toppings on the side. So what do I get? A burrito covered in cold cheese and a soggy burrito with lettuce and tomatoes on the side. We also ordered nachos. What did we get, soggy chips with all the toppings on top. We received extra crunchy chips in a separate bag, but they tasted like the oil they are cooked in hasn't been changed in months. They tasted like old fried food and kinda burnt. If Gordon Ramsay recorded a Hells Kitchen in this place, he'd shut it down. No care is put into the takeout packaging. Or customer request. My wife's chicken and rice seemed ok and relatively tasty.
