Amigo Nachos
Gabrielle N.

I used to live next to here and no joke would eat here twice a week because their Amigo Nachos are SOOO GOOD! I have never been able to find better nachos and it's low-key heartbreaking. My boyfriend is a big fan of their horchata and the staff is super fast and attentive.

Chicken enchiladas lunch portion. Huge!

On a visit for lunch yesterday I had the chicken enchiladas with rice. The lunch portion is two enchiladas and with a massive about of rice it was much more than I could eat. I brought half of both home for dinner. The salsa is so good too! Just spicy enough for me that it didn't make me wince too much. Served with the warm tortilla chips and it's the perfect appetizer. I even brought some home with the rest of my take out and a container is salsa. The staff is friendly and always available to get drink refills or whatever is needed. If they were closer to my home I'd definitely visit more often.

Chips and salsa

Stopped in on a Sunday evening. The place was not very busy. We were seated immediately. Big menu, prices seemed reasonable. Salsa and chips were brought promptly. Salsa was very fresh tasting, mild spice level. Husband and I both felt like nachos and both ordered full size chicken nachos. We were both disappointed. Nachos only had chicken and queso and the queso was extremely watery. Chips were a little chewy. We were both very glad we ordered the full size because it wasn't that huge compared to nachos at a lot of places. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing but we were not impressed. Service was good.

Chile Relleno, Quesadilla and burrito

Burrito primavera with chicken was just amazing. My husband had veggie quesadillas, burrito and chille relleno which was good as well. The place is nice and the service was good as well.

Chips, salsa and special sauce (hot!)

Great place! Food was excellent, service was spot on and prices are reasonable. They have take out and are following COVID regulations. I had burritos with pork with a quest sauce! Delicious. My fiancé had a steak and cheese tortilla with rice. We also were starving so ate two baskets of chips and salsa. They have a special salsa-house special for those who like it hot!!!. We will definitely be back. Would have eaten outside but a little hot for me.

Speedy Gonzalez lunch special

Good Tex-Mex food in Cary! Yay! I've been searching and searching and found this place with my husband thanks to Yelp! The service is phenomenal, I mean the teamwork here is on point. You sit down, the waters come immediately, the chips and salsa come within minutes and the server is ready whenever you're ready to place your order. We've been here about 3 times already and doesn't matter if it's a weekend, dinner or lunch, the service is excellent! Plus, their lunch specials are great! You get a lot of food for a decent price. I love their beef fajitas for 2. Lots of meat and tons of leftovers for lunch the next day. Oh and don't forget to get yourself a Michelada. It's like a Bloody Mary but instead of vodka it's made with Mexican beer like Modelo or my fave, Dos Equis. It's super refreshing and they actually make it right at Bravo's. Bravo Bravo's Mexican Grill! You've made a fan of me!

The food was good nice size portions I had the chicken Loco. The chicken Loco came with beans, rice a whole breast of chicken lettuce, guacamole salad. The chicken was a little dry I added the diablo sauce it was pretty spicy very good. Service was slow I had to ask for tea, water and more chips. After that it got better.

Wow! Prepare for extra large servings. Think of it's two for one. We had a large group of ten. There really wasn't a good table for all of us, putting a table at the end of the booth put some of us right in the kitchen traffic lane, so we took 2 neighboring booths and it was fine. Lots of food choice, even for the one who doesn't care for Mexican food and those of us trying to eat healthy. Margaritas were on special, but there was nothing special about them. Too much sour mix, not enough tequila. I wouldn't recommend going for the margaritas. Our food arrived in a staggered fashion, which wasn't a big deal, some started while others finished off the complimentary chips, salsa and white ?mayo? Dip. Prices are reasonable, especially given the portion sizes. Outside dining is available. It is covered and gives you full view of the parking lot.

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). Not every dish is a knockout, but the highlights keep it comfortably in 4-star territory.

Esmeralda Grill absolutely rocks, and it was almost a restaurant that I considered avoiding because…read moreI ordered the wrong thing. I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!

While the food is on the pricey end, the portion sizes make up for it and the quality is there. On my first visit, I tried their Tres Amigos dish. It is basically a mix grill with shrimp, steak and chicken. It came with rice, beans, and veggies. The meats were super flavorful and the rice and beans were actually great! I hate it when a Mexican place just dumps overcooked rice and goopy beans and calls it a day. The veggies were very clearly frozen and came from a bag, wasn't all that excited by that. I think arroz con pollo (ACP) is one of the simplest, yet, most delicious Mexican dishes. It is chicken, cheese and rice, how can you mess that up? Mamacita does their ACP justice. The chicken is tender, there is a nice balance between the cheese and rice, and it is just a great combination altogether. They also do a decent job with their birria tacos (although wasn't the biggest fan of the consume) and their churrasco plate. They even top it with a legit salad, not just the chopped lettuce and tomato. In the end, I am always full and satisfied with the meal. I certainly think this is worth a visit. Oh, I forgot to mention everyone's favorite thing about the place, they have a robot server! Definitely very cute.
