Today I went to Salon Rouge for color and a trim. This was my first time coming to this salon, so I really didn't know what to expect. My appointment was with Antonio. I was nervous walking into a new place to get my hair done. Antonio made me feel comfortable right away. He came out, shook my hand and started a conversation with me. I showed him pictures of the look I was going for and he had no problem achieving what I wanted. He stated that it was going to be a long process, so he went up and checked his schedule to make sure he would have time to complete this project. While he was applying the color he kept the conversation going. I was extremely impressed with how the color turned out. I have been going to different salons for years and wasting my time and money on hair that was no where near what I asked for. That was not the case today. Antonio did an amazing job and worked on my hair until his next client came in. Antonio had another stylist cut and style my hair. She was very nice and did a great job on my hair. She took her time and made sure I was happy with the cut. Overall, I was at the salon for four hours. Never did I feel like Antonio or the girl who cut my hair, were in a hurry. They didn't rush, they both were so kind and made sure I was completely happy with everything. Salon Rouge is the only place I will be getting my hair done at from now on. Between the nice and very talented stylist and the amazing work they do and the beautiful salon in general, there is no need for me to go anywhere else! read more

I took my son in for his first haircut (he's one and yes they knew this) and it was horrible experience. The hairdresser asked if this was his first haircut and I did tell her yes. Of course, being a toddler he did start crying and was scared. All of the sudden I was asked to leave as his crying was "disruptive" and that I would need to reschedule. I was not charged for the appointment but left in tears with my sons half butchered haircut. They should not have booked his appointment (or any other young child) if they could not handle some crying. It's not like I was thrilled about his crying either but just wanted to get it done. I was absolutely mortified, no empathy whatsoever. read more

I recently moved here (Mishawaka) from Chicago and was soon looking for a reputable salon I could get my color done and trim to kept my style looking fresh. I found so much more in Chrissy! She really does amazing blonde and will give her honest opinion on what she thinks will look best on you. I immediately felt at home and could tell she was experienced and professional, while still being super friendly and so easy to talk to on a personal level. She has never pushed product but I've been so pleased with my hair afterwards that I end up purchasing what she's used to style my hair. I have been my having my hair done at Salon Rouge for at least 15 years and have never had a bad experience. I have always been welcomed with smiles from the staff at the front desk and Kim always works to help me get an appointment that works with my schedule. Ashley cuts my hair and I can honestly say I have never had a bad haircut, I have loved every single one. Besides being excellent at what she does she is always sweet and fun to talk to and really listens to any concerns about my hair. Just got the best pedicures we've had in a while. There is a small comfortable room in the back of the salon with two pedi stations. Nicoleta is very courteous and includes a nice foot massage and does reflexology work. Jenny is very friendly and detailed in her pedis too. The price was great with the Yelp coupon and we were able to get in the same day. Highly recommend a visit for a pedicure. read more

I had my only haircut here sometime back. I would have been better off have a rat eat my hair. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the lady who cut my hair told she was talking to her friend as she was cutting my hair. To their credit, they did give me a gift card for $25 to be used the next time. I never went back. I gave to the card to a passer by outside the salon. read more

I had the best experience today when seeing Heather. She treats me like I'm her friend, not just her client. She starts off by giving you a head massage which is very comforting. Heather is the best at layers, I'd say it's her strength. Every haircut I've ever received by Heather, I was totally satisfied by. She listens to your needs and asks what you want. I decided to stop by recently as I'm only in town for the summer and had a wedding coming up and needed a fix! The salon was very clean, staff very professional, and one of the best hair cuts of my life! While it was very expensive ($58) it lays beautifully and is very very flattering! I'm used to paying that in some of salons in St. Louis so it did not bother me but something to be aware of! I did not catch the name of the woman who cut my hair but everyone in the salon was extremely nice and friendly. I have already suggested it to people in the community! read more

Quite enjoyed my first haircut in Mishawaka. Ally was pleasant, quick, and helpful with tips. I'm not too worried when I switch stylists, but I give as much direction as I can because of bad experiences. Ally listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions to make my style a little more friendly and was done in 30 minutes! I usually wait until after my first wash after a cut to make a real assessment, but I was just so pleased with today's experience I had to add this review right away. Love this place. I am a guy that has fine hair that's not easy to cut. One slip of the scissors can make it look awful. And then the stylist keeps trying to correct and correct until it's way too short. Tara got it right the first time and every time since. I am greeted with a smile and coffee or tea (if I want it) when I go in. This place is a quality establishment with a full staff that knows what it's doing. On November 5 my niece and I got pedicures and I also got a manicure. We both expected a lot more than what we got and paid for. Disappointed! The salon charged us each $20 extra to take off shellac for our pedicures that could not have taken more than 2 minutes. Literally 2 minutes. We feel ripped off. Also the polish applied was not even and was splotchy. We were charged high end salon prices but left feeling robbed and taken advantage of. I would not recommend this place for nails. I was very disappointing by the front desk (I think her name is Lauren). I knew there was a problem when I overheard how she talked to a customer on the phone. From what I could understand, the customer asked for a technician by certain name and she said there was no one with that name and "PLEASE DO NOT EVER CALL US AGAIN". I was appalled by that response. It is as if she was getting out of her way to make sure she could insult a customer so he/she would never return to the salon again. Similar thing happened to me this morning. I was 5 minutes late for an appointment so I thought I should call to let my stylist know. At first, she put me on hold for 8 minutes. Then she picked up the phone and asked if she could put me on hold, to which I replied: "I am already on hold". On that reply, she hung up on me immediately. When I called back, she put me on hold for the third time. When I confronted her while I got there, she basically said "Oh LORD!" without a single sign of apology! The front desk person is the first person that a customer meets. For the life of me I could not figure out why the Salon would hire such as person to handle the front desk. It is bad for any business to have a receptionist like that. If you want to retain your customer base, you need someone with customer skills, not someone who is so mean. read more

Ally is amazing! She is so talented in color and managed to really get my hair healthy after years of bleach and coloring made it so damaged. The salon itself is really nice and always busy - which I take as a good sign. The Keratase product line they carry is by far the best I've ever used...even though they are pricey they are worth it. Ally and the entire staff seem to always be completing continuing education and are always up to date on new products in the salon - and in the beauty market as a whole. After 3 years seeing Ally at Salon Rouge, we just moved to California and I've yet to find anyone here that I trust as much with my hair as Ally. read more

Still coming to this salon a year later and every single time Hilary has done an AMAZING job! She is the master at balayage. Today I went from a light brown/blonde to a deep brown with some amazing tones and highlights. The color she chose was perfect with my paler skin, as sometimes darker tones in the past have come out way too harsh. As a graduate student years ago I used to schedule haircuts with one of the salon's apprentices. At $10.00 it was a fantastic deal, and the educator (Thor) at that time always supervised to ensure that the final result was always adequate, if not really good. Since then I started using a salon closer to my mom, which I was happy with; however, my hairdresser raised her prices and with a New Year's resolution to save money, I decided to book an appointment with one of the apprentices at Salon Rouge once again. My hair was just to my shoulders and I wanted a bob for my fine hair. Well, she finished her cutting and the owner came to check it while my hair was still wet. The owner just purchased the salon approximately 2 years prior, he informed me, and as someone who had cut my hair at one time I was happy for him. Sadly, my happiness with my Salon Rouge experience ended there. When the cut was blow-dried I asked to see the back and to my complete shock noted that the apprentice had cut severe layers throughout the back, including a 3.5 inch layer at the crown of my head that was sticking straight out. The sides and front were all one length (the bob I had asked for), but the back.... It was a completely different haircut that had no rhyme or reason to it. She said that the owner did not feel the need to see the haircut dry because he had already inspected it wet. I commented that there was a disconnect between the front and the back of the hair and asked if the two could be blended, but she stated that would make the front look too thin. I told her the top layer was too short and she commented that next time she could leave it longer. I left in shock, but not entirely upset, due to the poor lighting in the salon and the fact that she had styled it so oddly. When I got home, however, I realized just how awful the cut was and when looking at the instagram photos I had used as a reference felt very frustrated that the apprentice had gone rogue and scissor-happy with the back of my head. I called the following day and was told I could come in for another hairdresser to fix the problem, but I had no desire (nor the time!) to do so. I did speak directly with the owner who was apologetic and commented that at some point the apprentices need to show more initiative and autonomy in their cutting. I informed him that the apprentice was not ready and needed the training wheels put back on. To add insult to an already hideous haircut, when several days later I pulled out the cardigan I had worn for the hair appointment, I discovered that the apprentice had dripped streaks of toner across the shoulder of my cardigan. When comparing this most recent experience with prior visits to the salon, I feel justified in stating that the quality control has significantly dropped. And while the staff on the phone were very sweet and wanted to help remedy the situation, I have lost all trust in the salon's ability to provide quality services. read more
