This was my first time at sugaring NYC. I just moved from Washington state where I had an independent wax girl so I wasn't sure how a chain store would go, but I gave it a shot. I am so happy that I did. Cindi was great. She was very careful and meticulous and talked to me to make things more comfortable. She told me that I was doing a great job and she was shocked at my pain tolerance lol. I appreciate her keeping it real and making me feel comfortable through the process. The inside of the establishment is very pink and cute. Sugaring is the way to go! read more

As a childless 31 year old, I'm still at the point where its a little nerve wracking to have a new person stare directly at your penis fly trap for half an hour. This place made is quite tolerable, though. It's a super cute spot that looks like a spa and a cupcake place had a baby, with nice staff to greet you when you arrive and to help you check out once you're done. Once i got situated, my waxer (my tech? My pubic artist? I don't know what to call her, but her name was Megan so that'll work for now) took to my feline forest like a carver to marble. If I hadn't known better, I'd thought I heard the William Tell overture finale as she masterfully carved out my boyfriends initials into my pubes. Just kidding, i just got a landing strip. Overall, she made the experience quick and as painless at it could possibly get; I was in and out of there in 25 minutes. Not only do they offer sugaring, but they do things like eyebrow and lash tinting and v-facials to keep you lookin' and feelin' right. Their prices are in my opinion quite reasonable and they offer a few items in store to purchase to use at home if you so choose. read more

I had an appointment for brow lamination. Perm solution was applied to my brows. It took about 15 minutes and I was told not to get them wet for 24 hours. The next morning, I combed my brows and they were all over the place. Unruly. A few days later, they started to fall out. I called the business and a manager returned by call and credited my account for half of what I paid. Two weeks later and my brows are still falling out and appear very very thin. In my opinion, I wasted $40 and was truly disappointed with the service. I wrote this review to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. read more

I got my first Brazilian here, and the esthetician I had did not make the process any easier. I told her it was my first time, but she didn't explain what she was doing, didn't check in with me even though I was in a lot of pain, didn't really say much to me at the whole time. I don't know which esthetician it was because she didn't even tell me her name. She seemed rushed and generally unfriendly which made the already painful experience even more stressful. Plus, she missed a number of hairs that are long enough to have been removed. I'm not sure if I'll be back, but if I do I'll definitely find out who I had, so I can pick someone else! (The negative review isn't because of the pain! That's a natural part of it, although it hurt worse than I thought it would) read more

came in this morning (january 18) the place was clean but the receptionist was not helpful at all. she just seemed to be running all over the place and didn't answer any of my questions about sugaring at all. and when she did answer it seemed super snarky. i've been nervous to get a brazilian and i was really looking forward to getting it done here but now i don't think i'll be coming back. the customer service was horrible right when i walked in, don't know what to expect anymore read more

I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. What made it worse is that the sign on the door clearly says they open at 9:30, so I was just doing what I was told. This was by far the rudest and most disrespectful experience I've ever had at a nail salon. I will never be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who expects even basic kindness or respect. I would give this place 0 stars if I could, however, one of the other technicians did apologize for her behavior and did a great job on my nails and was very kind. 1 star.

It took me a while to find a place in the area where I was comfortable with their threading services. I finally stumbled upon Technique by India, and I'm glad I gave them a try. They are located in a strip mall next to Best Buy. The times I've been it hasn't been busy and they sat me right away. I like my brows thick and she definitely leaves them as thick and she can. Once you're done, instead of astringent, they give you rose water. So you leave brows snatched smelling like roses!

You. Guys. I walked out on my very first Brazilian a few days ago. That was done by Jessica at Tru Salon, and I'm not trying to bash her or ruin her livelihood, but she was EXTREMELY rough, and what she DID do had huge patches of missed hairs, as I was just shown by Astrid @ Sugaring NYC, who I came to in hopes of finishing the job. I'm very well aware that I have an extremely low threshold for pain, so I just chalked it up to that until I learned a gal I knew in high school (Astrid) does waxing services at Sugaring NYC. I felt, at the very least, she could be patient with my flopping around like a fish. I ain't gonna lie, y'all. I'm still a wuss, so there was certainly pain but Astrid @ Sugaring NYC made this seem like a walk in the park in contrast. She was WAY quicker, she talked to me throughout to keep me distracted, but most importantly she was also SUPER GENTLE. Earlier this afternoon I was chatting with the gal who first told me about Sugar Waxing last week, & I mentioned that I was going to Sugaring this evening to finish the job. She asked who I knew there, and when I mentioned Astrid she told me Astrid was her favorite and who she always booked with. It turns out Astrid is the one who trains & teaches all the other gals at her store, too. I'll literally never trust ANYBODY ELSE to pull hair out of my body with hot melted wax. It's Astrid, or bust. I recommend anyone who currently receives waxing services, and anyone interested, adopt the same philosophy. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. This was my very first time getting a Brazilian wax. Haley was amazing! She explained the procedures and materials immensely. She allowed for questions. Does amazing at making you feel comfortable. It can be a little nerve racking at first, but she made it comfortable. She even worked with me and my back problems. If you are ever in need of sugaring, this is the place to check out. Highly recommend Haley she is amazing. Does great work. Took less than an hour for the wax and v-facial. I had never been to a salon for waxing or sugaring before today and I am so glad I went to see Haley at SugaringNYC. She was very nice, super fast and thorough. I am a nurse and recently transferred into the OR, so I have to wear surgical caps to cover my hair. I noticed that the baby hairs on the back of my neck were driving me absolutely batty as no matter what I did they still stuck out of the bottom of my caps. She explained the difference between sugaring and waxing and said that it was okay if I yelled because it's not painless. She was so nice and caring. Omg first time getting a Brazilian wax and let me just say I will definitely be going back. They make you feel so welcomed. I had Georgia for my appt and seriously felt so comfortable with her.
