I wish I could say that I had a great experience. I've gotten two haircuts and my hair colored, all by different people. My second and third time being there I was not listened to when I had shown reference pictures of what I wanted. The results, both times, I was disappointed. I bit my tongue the first time and tried to be optimistic- hair grows back you know. When I got my hair colored (face frame) by Rich, I was very specific on what I wanted and shared how anxious I was about the experience. The results turned out exactly how I didn't want it. It looked like a two year old took yellow paint to my hair..Although I asked plenty of questions through out the process for reassurance (also he coughed in my face when he was styling my hair) I couldn't leave that salon without it getting fixed by someone new. The lady who fixed it was kind and listened to me at least. I wanted to give this place a chance because I have type 2 hair and was excited a salon is specialized with texture hair, I will not be back though :( I hope others have a better experience, just wasn't meant for me. Having just moved from Chicago, I will admit I was nervous to get a haircut in Indiana. I have thick, naturally wavy hair that becomes a frizz-filled, triangle mess when my layers grow out. I always get nervous going to a new hairdresser, but especially so having moved from a big, diverse city. So, I combed through Reddit for reccomendations and came to The Beehive to see Eric after reading rave reviews...and this turned out to be THE BEST HAIRCUT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Eric was outgoing, friendly and professional. He made me feel heard and comfortable. The whole experience was interactional where he would stop every now and then and make me stand up and play with my hair to observe how I interacted with it. After searching I came across the Beehive. I also wanted to try Balayage and when I called to set up an appointment they recommended Donna. The color she chose was spot one and gave me several tips to care for my curly frizzy hair. I was so amazed with the outcome! I have received so many compliments on my balayage hair. I called in to make an appointment with Jessica after a friend recommended her- I left my number for a call back. When I received a call back the receptionist was very snarky toned, asking me to repeat several times asked what I was wanting to come in for- I told her " I usually do roots, highlights and a trim sometimes when needed" then there was dead air... for a long stretch... I finally said are you still there... "yes" ... (ok then why aren't you talking to me it's your turn) just not friendly at all, she asked for my phone number(cell) I gave it to her- then later she asked for my home phone number (who has landlines now days?) I said" it's the same." She said " umm...I'm on the computer you'll have to give it to me again" also in an unkind tone. I felt like a total burden and that I was to feel privileged to have her even talk to me! At this point I said you know what you're just your not coming off very friendly, I told her to forget it! Sad but I won't recommend this place if your very first encounter is this rude, I'm sure Jessica is a great stylist and I would have loved to have got the opportunity to find out but not with this type customer service! Tone is everything I have been in customer service for years! Some training is needed here, even if you are having a bad day or stressed (we have all had such days) which happens in a work environment don't come off that way to customers! read more

Jessica gave me a really great haircut! As someone with curly hair it can be rough to find someone that can properly cut and style curly hair. Ah-MaZing!!!!! My appt was with Eric and I was SO nervous!!! I have botticelli curls and have had so many issues with it being cut wrong, people not understanding the texture, or just wanting me to straighten it. Eric could pick up on my nervousness and was so nice-like a long lost friend!! This cosy little place is so welcoming and wonderful! I felt very at home and I'm usually very nervous in hair salons and they made me feel super comfortable. Jill gave me a great cut, thank you Jill! In the 10 years I lived in San Diego, I have not managed to find a place that cuts my hair right. And i looked and paid a lot of money in the process. I gave up on them and had my cut done during my travels to Asia or Europe, not an optimal solution if the trips are 2-3 months apart. Most salons in the US specialize in hairs that are not mine.
