I got my hair done by Sydney W. on 11/21/2018-She was amazing and super patient with me-I am trying to go from red to blonde and Sydney has been more than understanding of my goal. I know it will take us a while to get me where I want to be, but I am excited to have Sydney on my side during my hair journey. She is determined to get me to the end result and I trust her 100%. She was able to squeeze me into her schedule last minute AND on the day before thanksgiving! She was very professional at explaining every step to me as well as ensuring that I understood and was comfortable along the way. Aside from that, she is great at conversing,as I always have a lot to talk about, but she kept engaged in my conversation all while focusing on my hair as well. I purchased product from the salon as well, and Sydney only advised me of what I NEEDED as opposed to selling me something that would not be beneficial at all. The location of the salon is convenient as well, right in the heart of the Roosevelt art district in downtown Phoenix. Parking was not an issue as there is a parking garage in the rear and it was free! I was the last client of the day, and my appointment did not take as long as we had expected which was awesome!! Sydney even walked with me to the parking structure to make sure I made it to my vehicle safely since it was dark out! If you are looking for a stylist that is professional but also makes you feel like a friend, then Sydney is definitely your girl! I would recommend her time and time again. First, I have to say I called to make an appointment at 4:00PM and was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist asked if 6 o'clock would be ok! I was more than excited to get in the same day. Laura was my stylist. We talked about what I wanted and she knew exactly what I wanted and actually did even better than I thought. We had great conversation the entire appointment. The vibe of the salon is pretty trendy but unique as well. I can't say enough about my new hair! I will definitely be coming back to this salon and to Laura. It pains me to write this review. I am afraid that more people will find out about Brian - making it more difficult for me to make an appointment with him. With a slightly weird textured hair (imagine a chia pet head with cowlicks), I had always resorted to a very short hairstyle. After being chastised by my wife for perpetually sporting the army recruit look, I presented Brian with the monstrosity that is my hair. After 8 visits, I am happy to report that for the first time in my life, I have a medium-length haircut that is both easy to style and professional. Brian is a perfectionist. He listens well, takes his time, and is talented with both clippers and scissors. I wish I had found him earlier. Front desk staff has always been professional and makes you feel welcome. All of the 8 appointments were met with little to no wait. I am just glad that after 12 months of searching, I stumbled across this salon. read more

Jillian is amazing! After relocating back to the valley I was looking for a new salon. I didnt know where to go so I tried my stylist (not at VOLR) that I went to before I moved and was frustrated that she was always running behind, double booked and never listened to what I wanted. You will never experience any of those at Volr! Jillian has been on time and has great ideas on changing up style! She listened to what I wanted and had great suggestions. I had let my hair grow for almost 4 years and felt comfortable enough to let Jillian cut almost 6 inches off of my hair on my first visit. I have been twice now in the last 3 months and will be going back in the next week or two. Happy to have found a salon and stylist that I am comfortable with! I would highly recommend the salon and specifically Jillian to anyone. And my husband would recommend her as well because he is happy that he doesn't have to hear me complain about my hair anymore... Alex R. has cut my hair twice and colored it once. Both times were super enjoyable. What I liked most was that despite the super chic appearance of the shop, Alex is down to earth and listened to me. The first time I went into the shop, I was very shy -- I knew I wanted to change up my hairstyle but I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted it to look like. I think Alex sensed that I was feeling timid and offered me several options to help me decide. He ended up giving me a great color (semi-permanent) and a lovely cut that helped me feel confident. He never forced an idea on me, but rather helped me come to my own decisions. I would totally recommend this shop to my friends and family. My boyfriend even got his hair cut by Alex and he did a great job on his hair as well. I hate writing negative reviews, especially when the stylist was so nice! I saw a male stylist (forget his name) and he looked at the photos I brought in and seemed to be confident that he could give me the style I wanted. At first, I was just happy that I was free from the dry split ends from COVID, but I started getting annoyed that I couldn't get my hair to look good. I have baby fine hair and the stylist did a blunt bob instead of the textured cut I'd asked for. I ended up making another appointment at a different salon to update my color, and the stylist told me that she hated to say anything bad about other people's work before she handed me a mirror to view the back of the cut. There was literally a giant CHUNK missing in the back! It was super uneven. She agreed with me that there were no layers, which didn't work for my hair type, and the front was unflattering. She fixed it and now I'm very happy. My boyfriend also mentioned it looks much better. read more

This salon is amazing! I called on a whim looking hopelessly for a walk in opening and Sydney was kind enough to squeeze me in. She not only trimmed my hair beautifully didn't get scissor happy but made sure to do what was best for my badly damaged hair. I came in with heavy breakage and five inch grown out roots I walked out looking and feeling like a million dollars. This was especially crucial because this was done for the sake of my upcoming mothers wedding in a week. Today was the last and only day off I had before then due to scheduling error I was told I had to work my other day off I originally had scheduled. You can't imagine my panic! What an amazing experience! The facility is very clean, the staff friendly and the prices so reasonable. I was in town and came in to see my old hairstylist from New York City, Laura. She's AMAZING! I travel a lot in the area for work and try to stop in town whenever I can. She immediately puts you at ease with her warm demeanor and is just so passionate and skilled at her job. She knows what I want without my really having to say it and goes above and beyond to make sure I am happy with my hair. Typically they call and confirm, as I was preparing to leave my house I called them, no record to be found. YES, PLEASE! AWESOME!! That was my experience with Alex Razo when I went to VOLR to have a haircut. I had been letting my hair grow for so long so I could donate it (and couldn't in the end, but that's a different story) but Alex listened to my concerns, he looked at the picture I brought he advised me as to what to do to make my hair grow healthy and shiny and they never tried to sell me any products (you get extra points for this! I don't like it when business owners try to sell something else other than what I already wanna buy!). Alex made me feel at ease. He was trying to be conservative and I needed a change and he did it! I come and see Ana, she has master and dominated my extremely curly hair! For years I was considering getting a pixie cut but was terrified that my curly hair would just end up being a huge disaster. I finally ended up cutting my hair into a pixie at a different location and regretted it instantly. I thought great....now I have to grow this out all over again. After having the cut for about four weeks I finally came to her and she cut the hair to go with my face shape! Plus she cuts my hair dry to see exactly how it will look once I style it. I have been to Salon RO5 twice, and I love it! I have seen Jo both times. She is amazing! I am new to the neighborhood and needed a cut. I had not had my hair cut in over six months. I had also used box dye on my hair during that time. Haha my hair was a disaster. Jo immediately had suggestions for color correction and cut. My cut is cool, and my color is beautiful! Today, I experienced a life changing haircut in the very hip Salon Ro5. I was introduced to Tamera through a friend and she really flipped the script on my lackluster blond locks while maintaining their natural vibe. It was awesome. I had weird growout from a 2012-2013 half-scalped/shave and she somehow even made that work with the style. Noah, the bossman, was around, and it was clear he is committed to teaching, learning, growing and just being a nice guy.
