Brittany did a SPECTACULAR job on my hair and my Mom's hair. If I could give her more stars I would. After moving to the Triangle Area from Chicago, I have spent 5 years searching for a stylist and having several bad experiences at several different salons. Needless to say I was very nervous walking in, but the salon has a wonderfully relaxed and welcoming vibe, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly. Brittany did an excellent job listening to what we each wanted done to our hair, and was able to take the haircuts to the next level by really personalizing it and helping it work perfectly for each of our face shapes and styles. I have spent 5 years missing my stylists from Chicago - but no more. My hair was quite long and quite thick, and Brittany took her time to make sure it was exactly right. Brittany has a true talent for hair and it shines through in her fantastic work. She went above and beyond to make not only my Mom and myself feel welcome, but making my daughter (3 yr.) feel welcome. She is very shy and nervous and I am trying to get her comfortable with having her hair cut for the first time. Brittany made her feel so welcome and allowed her to stay by my side - which was a HUGE deal for her. She walked out of there with a big smile and talked about wanting to get her hair cut all the way until she went to bed that night. Brittany went above and beyond, and her haircuts were BRILLIANT. Great Job!! Even though the salon is about a 30 minute drive for us, it is more than worth it! We will all be back on a regular basis. read more

Brittany is my hair's savior. We've been together for many years despite the fact that I've "cheated" on her a couple of times. She always takes me back though, and she always fixes the mess I tend to get myself into by thinking I'm being more thrifty or that another place is more convenient. The truth is that I followed Brittany to Salon Povera from her last place because she is immensely talented in color - aside from her skill, she takes the time to listen to where I'm trying to go when making change and will give her honest and professional input. Brittany is also proactive in reaching out to me with dates when she knows I haven't set one ahead of time or when she knows she's going to be super busy. My life is hectic and sometimes I can barely keep everything I'm juggling in the air so it's nice to have someone remind me that I need to look after myself too. Over the years we have come to know each other well and she's just a lovely person in general. Now that my daughters are older, I bring them to see her as well! read more

I went to Salon Povera today for a color correction. Long story short, I had a pretty poorly blended ombre with a noticeable line of demarcation, as well as a few sections of hair that had turned out very orange and brassy rather than the cool ash brunette and ash blond tones I had been looking for. I was worried that the look I had wanted to achieve was not salvageable, but Gimena was very reassuring and discussed my hair with me at length. She had me describe the look I was going for and where the hair color that I had at the moment fell short. She walked me through the steps she would take to get the color where I wanted it-- medium brown roots that naturally faded into ashy brunette tones and ending with dark ash blond ends. I didn't think it was possible but Gimena did a marvelous job and I left Salon Povera feeling like a million bucks! I will be going back to Salon Povera for all my future hair needs, and would recommend the salon (especially Gimena) to anyone in the area wanting high quality hair services. read more

I go to Pam, and she is so awesome! My hair was all sorts of a mess on my first appointment. I had bleached my hair and then attempted to dye it purple. When we tried to remove the purple my hair turned green!! Pam was such a pro, and even as damaged as my hair was, was able to get it blonde in one more session- without damaging it even more! I'm so happy with the way my hair turned out! I can't imagine going anywhere else after seeing Pam!! :) I would so highly recommend this salon, even if you don't go to Pam! Every stylist I see working always has their clients leaving looking fabulous. You're absolutely in good hands as soon as you walk in the salon. (The first picture is my hair before Pam's magic, the second picture is after two back-to-back appointments of color remover and then bleach, and the third picture is the third appointment to remove the last remaining green.) read more

I started going to this salon about a year ago because I was referred by a friend. I saw Pam and she was AMAZING!!! She gave me incredibly bright blonde highlights, and as soon as I saw the finished product I was overjoyed. My hair had never looked this good, the cut was perfect, the color was perfect, best hair experience ever! It was exactly what I wanted. I came back about 2 weeks ago and I had not had my hair done since I last saw her. I don't trust many people with my hair and had in fact only gone to 1 stylist before Pam in the past 6 years. I told her what I wanted this time around and again was blown away. She listens, she is very sweet, talented and is a true artist. I will be coming back to Pam again, and again, and again! Thanks Pam!!! My hair is officially addicted to YOU! read more

I recently scheduled an appointment with Patrick, who I spoke with on the phone a few days prior to my appointment. From our first phone conversation, he was wonderful!!! At my appointment, he and his staff were very welcoming, and he truly took the time to listen to what I had in mind in terms of color for my hair. He listened so patiently, shared options available, and knowledgeably addressed all of my questions. I felt like he cared about my hair and the color as much- or more :O) - than I did! :O) He even offered to try something else if what we decided upon did not turn out great. AMAZING! Needless to say, the color was truly THE BEST I have ever had done, and Patrick made the whole experience wonderful! read more

I followed Brittany to Salon Provera when she moved from another salon. Once you find an exceptional hairstylist and color specialist you don't want to lose him or her. Brittany has been my one and only hairdresser for more than 10 years. She is an expert in color and has an exceptional eye for what style works best with each client's hair. She not only listens but takes the time to explain her professional opinion of various style choices. She has always steered me to make the best choices for the health of my hair and styles that work for me. I have been able to count on Brittany consistently to provide beautiful hair color, excellent cuts and a warm , welcoming smile. A+ service. read more

Big things come in small packages, and Salon Povera exemplifies this concept. Tricia was worth the wait, during which I was offered wine, coffee, tea or water! They seem to have a tight knit team and help one another to the benefit of their clientele. I am beyond pleased with my haircut, and even more thrilled with Tricia's recommendations. She tried to save me money instead of upselling me, which is rare and appreciated. I will be back, along with as many friends as I'm able to refer! If you're uptight or have expectations of a spacious luxury salon, you should go elsewhere. But if you want the same experience and quality haircut for a fraction of the price, Povera=perfection. read more

I suppose I could be a nightmare for a stylist, because I insist that they push their creativity to the limit, and I often insist on a new look. Lane Clements is as good as they get, The color and cut he designed for me is beyond anything I could have imagined. He is truly imaginative, listened carefully to what I wanted (and didn't want), and went to work. A true artist. Salon Povera is a small studio that is just that: a studio environment where creative people are always pushing the envelope. Not your mass market salon. If you want high quality in a friendly atmosphere where you get a lot of respect, Salon Povera and Lane Clements get my highest recommendation. read more

Cannot say enough great things about our experiences with this salon! We were in Chapel Hill from out of town and my daughter desperately wanted a big change for her hair - so we gave them a shot and now we go back every time we're in Chapel Hill! My daughter was over the moon with her color and new style - everyone at the salon was fun and helpful and were lovely to work with -- she texted me while she was waiting for the color to set to share how much she loved the experience. What a cool, accepting, affirming and just all around amazing place. Thank you to the staff for making her feel beautiful inside and out. read more

Getting excited about my next appt with Brittany tomorrow. 3 weeks ago I trusted her to help fix my color and maybe liven up my dull hair and she did just that. I do not like anyone working on my hair for the 1st time so not only did she make me feel at ease but she now has me for life. I am hoping with repeat visits she will have my hair healthy, shiny and back to its natural looking highlighted color. While I want to share the news with others I must admit I also want to keep her for myself. I'll keep you all posted after she works her miracle on my doo tomorrow. read more

I just can't say enough great things about Salon Povera. I walked into my appointment with Erica not knowing entirely what I wanted and walked out feeling far more self confident and absolutely in love with my look. She really listened to what my preferences were and gave me a style that not only looked amazing but also fit with my busy lifestyle. Her knowledge of color, the great conversation, her sense of humor, and just the overall intimate yet welcoming atmosphere of the salon was so refreshing. I can't recommend her enough and I can't wait to come back! read more

Once the salon owner, Patrick, was made aware I wasn't happy with my last visit, when my hair color didn't turn out the way I wanted, he reached out to me immediately and asked to be given an opportunity to rectify the situation. He offered to fix my hair free of charge or provide a refund, which was very professional. I greatly appreciated how seriously he takes client concerns and after interacting with him I'm satisfied with Salon Provera. If you're not 100% satisfied with their service they will work on a solution to ensure they have a happy customer. read more

I would highly recommend Tricia Howard. I have been going to her for almost a year now and she is wonderful. She has great customer service, professional and strives to understand what look you are trying to obtain. She takes care of all my hair needs. She also colors my hair, highlights and retouches my roots. And I get compliments everyday when I go out. She just did my latest color last week. And that very day I had three compliments. Thank you Tricia for making me feel so beautiful. I love my hair!!! Please go see Tricia. #redheadshavemorefun read more

I love Salon Povera. A sleek and modern state of the art salon. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, offering you a beverage and making you feel comfortable, they are also very experienced and knowledgeable. I see Patrick and he is an amazing colorist and stylist. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair. The other day I left the salon and went to Southpoint Mall and had three people ask me where I got my hair done! The salon is conveniently located and is easy to get to from either work in RTP or home in Chapel Hill. read more

Go see Lane! He's not only an amazing human being but the best stylist I've ever had. The guy knows his stuff. He takes time to get to know your hair. He starts by figuring out a plan for your hair, not just for your first visit but for your visits in the future. He can create custom colors and hair cuts for your face and skin tone and your day to day hair style. The cuts are always on point. The shop is lovely and clean and offer free wine or hot tea while you're getting pampered! Love this place and love Lane! read more

This salon was recommended by a friend. New to the area and misguided by my gps I arrived late. This was not a problem. Everyone was super friendly, I was given coffee and felt very welcome. Eric cut my hair and did a super job. He took his time and all his attention was focused on me. I told him I usually air dry it. I wet my hair this morning just to see how it would look air dried. It is even better than expected. Full and stylish. Very happy with this professional haircut. Will definitely come back here. read more

Erica did an amazing job on my hair. I have curly hair, which is hard to get right, and she did a stunning dark balayage that reset my coppery roots. She touched up my cut as well, which I get done at a curly pro salon, and did an amazing job at helping me prolong my cut. The products she suggested to me from Goldwell have reset my hair and made it easier for me to get ready. The salon is so clean and everyone is so friendly here. I will be back to Erica as soon as I can. Can't recommend this salon enough. read more

Patrick has been cutting my hair for many years and I'm always happy with the results. He's a real pro! He recently opened his own place called Salon Povera and it is lovely. The great location off of I-40 at Hwy. 54 and Fayetteville Rd. in Durham makes it very accessible to anyone in the Triangle. I live in Raleigh and can get there in just a few minutes. If you want a first class salon with talented stylists, make an appointment at Salon Povera. You won't be disappointed! read more
