I tried this salon solely based on research and reviews, so I don't write this lightly! This was my third salon in the area looking for someone that knew how to highlight hair and achieve final results that aligned what I was looking for.!! I first scheduled a haircut appt. to see if it was a good fit, and discuss future color/highlights. We set expectations upfront and I decided to give it a try! Well, as of this past Saturday, I was NOT disappointed! Britney did a phenomenal job on my highlights and I am so pleased with the outcome!! (no this is not a paid advertisement or coerced review)! My hair had gotten so dark underneath, Britney, and I quote "foiled her back out" ......and I can vouch for that! She is so meticulous, pleasant and professional! My service was done with Sophia L., she was very attentive and worked with my needs and wants (: originally I went in for a olaplex treatment and a haircut. Really terrible hair cut. I have curly hair and they totally screwed it up by trying to dry it straight then cut it, which by the way means they aren't seeing the natural wave pattern when cutting it so it bounces back all jacked up- very bad. Also I had a consultation for styles so I could find a way to do my hair for parties and a trip to a big film festival and the only updo's the stylist could come up with were Gramma looking. Afterwards they called me multiple times to see if I would keep my next appointment and to reschedule which was all highly time consuming and inconvenient. I have to wait for my hair to grow back and unfortunately will have to cut it much shorter than I want it to fix this awful hair cut. Great clips quality at big salon prices. read more

Regina is the answer from the hair gods. She took one look at a photo I had of an ombre balayage and she revived my hair and made it fabulous! I had a washed out blonde balayage that needed some serious toning and a makeover due to my black natural roots making a dramatic comeback. I have not had hair look this good and always had to make at least two trips to the salon to make it perfect until I found Regina. She is exceptional, talented, and a serious yet friendly salonist. My daughter wanted to have her wig styled while she's at Duke Medical Center. We are both from out of state so she took time researching for the right salon and she hit gold when she found Lynn and Atmosp'hair Salon. The whole wig thing was very traumatic but Lynn made her feel welcome and at ease. The salon is beautiful and her little dog adds an extra touch of "feeling at home". The owner, Line, is the best! Going to her is like catching up with a fab friend that keeps it real- I mean, who wouldn't want that in their stylist? I have curly hair that I hardly ever wear curly, but want it cut to have the possibility to wear curly if I feel like it ...because I am a high maintenance woman that tries to pull off that low key effortless look! Line totally gets it and knows exactly what areas get bulky and layers with perfection. She is one of the only stylist I have ever been to that nails my blow out - lifted roots, body and natural ends without having them curled under. Love that they use Oribe products at the shampoo sink and LOVE that they sell Iles Formula, which is magic on hair like mine. Best salon in Durham, hands down! I can't recommend Atmosp'hair and the owner, Lynn, highly enough. The place is beautiful but i would get my hair cut on the back of a moving flatbed truck if it meant getting a good haircut. They offer beer or wine while waiting and Lynn's ridiculously cute dog, Zoe, is the ambassador. The real story is about the haircut though. Lynn takes her time, working always with shears instead of just blasting an electric clipper through my hair. I haven't had such an excellent haircut since moving to NC from Boston. I know with all the "beautiful space" and "cute dog" stuff I'm not exactly making a case for World's Manliest Yelp Review, but Lynn rocks anyway. read more

I was referred here by a friend who honestly has always had great work done. I made an appointment with her stylist, Harley. I arrived to my apt after scheduling over the phone and was taken one look at and was told "oh I wasn't told it was going to be your kind of hair"....I am mixed and I am use to my hair being intimidating for people to cut and style. I was taken back by the lack of culture this hair stylist had but explained that I would be okay with it being straightened and then cut (which is what I had asked for over the phone anyway). Then she told me she could do that but AGAIN with my "kind of hair" she wouldn't be able to do it in 45 minutes AND cut; she basically encouraged me to go to another salon. My recommendations would be if you guys are not comfortable dealing with non Caucasian hair types maybe make a questionnaire when taking phone or online apts so you're better prepared for the "types of hair" coming in. Another suggestion: hire stylists that CAN do all types of hair; it's 2020 get it together. I am not one to get offended easily but when I say I was blindsided and hurt by her saying "my kind of hair" (not just once) I was hurt. I was turned away because I wasn't the normal or easy textured client. I will not be coming back here. read more

Cheri is the best and kindest stylist I have ever had. I can't say enough great things about her. She is a highly skilled colorist. I love that she uses iNOA, Loreal's ammonia-free color. It's less damaging to my hair, yet still covers all my grays, and leaves my hair incredibly soft and shiny. Going with iNOA is a no-brainer because Cheri charges the same amount for iNOA as she does traditional color. It's thanks to Cheri that my hair looks, and feels, the healthiest it has in years. Usually, Deja, a junior stylist, will cut my two teenagers' hair during my appointment with Cheri. While Deja is relatively less experienced, she gives solid haircuts; even my nit-picky daughter can't find anything to complain about. Atmosp'hair has online booking that makes it extremely convenient to book, and reschedule, appointments. Even when I've booked my appointment by calling the receptionist, I receive an appointment confirmation via email 2 days before my appointment. Love it! The salon itself is beautifully designed and decorated by the owner. Zoe, a Shih Tzu, is the official greeter. Atmosp'hair is a first-class salon that I highly reccomend. read more

I have been to several high end salons in the Triangle- Caju, DB Sutton, Moshi Moshi, Citrine. I always go to the most experienced hair stylists and have been satisfied but was never thrilled. I visited this salon on a whim- just having a baby and needing a cut and some relaxation - and I'm glad I did. The salon is beautiful, relaxing and most important I got a great cut. I like everything about this salon, the atmosphere, the ambiance, the people. Who I really love, is Lyn. She's the best hairdresser I've ever had in the US, from Boston to DC to NC. The worst place for a haircut with a very rude owner, who BTW is extremely outdated and doesn't know how to do the latest styles of haircuts. I mean just look at her and you'll know what I am saying. My experience was less than par. The only reason they are getting two stars is that they tried to fix the situation, but the damage was already done. I went to Atmosphair a few months back to get a simple bob hair cut. I came with a photo of myself with the haircut I wanted from the last time I had gotten it cut in NY. My hairdresser had NO IDEA what she was doing. She started hacking at my hair with absolutely no confidence as to where she was cutting. As the situation was happening I was getting more and more panicky. I have no experience cutting hair but I could tell this wasn't going well. When she finally claimed she was done it was completely uneven. Not only were the two sides of my head uneven, the layers were at different angles. I said that I didn't think it was even and can you try to even it out and she started arguing with me, telling me I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about. I ended up paying and leaving extremely upset. I had a coupon for 50% off and it was still $35. I can't believe the results would have cost $70! The next day I called to speak to the owner who was extremely apologetic. She had me come in later that day for her to fix it. By this point she needed to make it a LOT shorter than I wanted it and told me that I need to bring a color photo for her stylists to be able to follow them. She also told me that I would get a coupon in the mail for a free haircut and to leave my address. The only stuff I get in the mail are coupons and advertisements. I will never go back there again. read more

I"ve have been seeing Lynn for color since well before she opened her beautiful salon. Lynn recently recommended I try her new stylist DEJA for a cut. Here's the deal...I have a really tricky thick, wavy and coarse head of hair. Stylists in the past have described cutting my hair as a "daunting task", while another said, "intimidating". I had an awesome stylist in Florida, so I know what a good cut is for me. Sadly since moving to Durham 11 years ago I have not had a great hair cut. I've gone all over the triangle and would rate them from blah to traumatic. I'm so glad I gave Deja a try! She gets my hair! She was methodical and meticulous, asking plenty of questions in order to learn about me and what I wanted. She spent over 90 minutes cutting/shaping while wet and various stages of dry. Back in Florida, all those years ago I was happily paying $80. I was charged $70 for my cut with Deja, due to the amount of time she spent with me. Again I paid happily! read more
