I paid for a consult with Margaux, then was handed over to the part-time desk clerk for scheduling. I was strung along for two weeks. Twice, I was told a time was blocked for me, then the offer was withdrawn. I repeatedly offered my availability and received no reply. Upon reaching out by phone, I was assured a time was blocked for me for a cut. Within literally 30 minutes, they changed and told me a different story. Margaux doesn't have availability, we don't work Saturdays, and ultimately, they couldn't accommodate me. This is poor customer service. The communication is terrible and unprofessional. Not something you would expect from a place that charges $100/ hour. read more

I followed my wonderful hairdresser, Andrea Brame, over to her new location here. It is a very friendly and comfortable space. The chair for washing hair is so comfy and easy on my sore back. read more

Union is the absolute BEST hair styling studio in the Triangle! Kara and her team are supremely talented: when you put yourself in their hands you are sure to get a beautiful cut/color treatment and to have a great experience. They give great advice and help you to decide on a hairstyle that you can actually take care of yourself--and they show you how. The vibe is relaxed, cool, and extremely client-focused; I always feel welcome when I arrive and happy when I leave. The team works well together. And the products are fantastic, Kevin Murphy and Keune. I can't recommend them highly enough! Six stars! read more

Expert skill and a genuine personal touch. As good as it gets. Kara is a master of her craft, and takes the time to hear you. She'll hear what you want to say about yourself, and work with you to create that image. Pro. read more

I've got a crush on my hair dresser that's lasted the last 10 years, and she knows it! I've followed Angela since she chopped 13 inches off my hair back in Chapel Hill. Angela listens to what I want and offers her own suggestions for the shape of my face and the kind of hair that i have (she gently had to tell me there was no way I could get my hair to look like the magazine clipping i brought in b/c of all these reasons)... She's always given me edgy, sexy looks that get complimented everywhere i go - I LOVE HER. :) ....and now I'm so happy that she and Kara have opened A Go-Go Salon in Durham. The ambiance is beautiful and their new online system to make appts is super convenient - loving my automatic reminders too. It's located right off Broad Street in the ADF building where Hummingbird Cafe is located. It's a great location, with a small parking lot attached. Although a smaller parking lot, I've never had to park elsewhere or on the street. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

I highly recommend Yumi at a Go-Go Salon! I followed Yumi to this salon; she's an expert at cutting and coloring Asian hair-- probably the best! I've been always really happy with the results of my ombre/bayalage/whatever-French-name-it's-called-now, and the color has lasted 6+ months with good care. I came in for an all-over caramel brown color with ashy blonde highlights (bayalage, I think this was called). The other stylists were very friendly, and were so excited for my hair transformation. They all gave some sort of helping hand in the process. They also gave me La Croix sparkling water to sip on during the long process. Yay! Overall, the space is beautiful, clean and relaxed. The stylists are all passionate and love their jobs, which is always great to see! It creates a fun environment, which turned a long 3-hour hair coloring process into a fun journey. read more

I went to this salon as it had been recommended by a friend of mine and since I had been having trouble finding a hair stylist for the past 1.5 years that I've lived in the area, I decided to give it a shot. The location and salon itself is amazing; as soon as you walk in they get you a drink and make sure you are comfortable. I met with Amber, who had been recommended to me by the receptionist when I had first called in. Amber is great! Asked me what I wanted and was very thorough in explaining the process. I had been to about five other salons in the area since my move here and I've been unsuccessful finding the right place that knows how to execute the look I want... so she knew she was dealing with a hypercritical customer since the get-go (which I know I am when it comes to my hair). I was scared at first due to my history with other stylists here....they don't seem to know how to give a proper belayage or turn dark brown hair into the light beige blonde my stylist in CA knows how to do well without frying my hair off. I was happy to see that Amber followed the same technique my old stylist did when he does my belayage, so my stress level lowered immediately. I asked for a touch up on the belayage I already had before coming to the salon and to cover my greys. The color came out nice, although I do wish I had more of the light beige pieces all through the ends of my hair. I feel like my general problem with stylist is that sometimes they are very conservative with the blond (when going from brown to blonde) and I end up getting a brownish/blondish/orangy color instead. Also some of the new highlights she added around my face came out a tad bit coppery, but she fixed those on a second follow-up visit. The primary reason why I'm giving this salon a 3 star is because their prices are insane! For a belayage touch-up and a one-inch haircut I paid a whopping $260 not including tip!!!!!! I understand I have to spend money to have nice hair, but walking out of there after spending $300 on my hair was not a good feeling (especially because I'm a full-time student). Not to mention, I would have liked my hair to be closer to the light beige blonde I had initially indicated and showed her pictures of during my consultation (although it still came out looking pretty nice overall, just wanted a bit more of the blonde pieces towards the tips I guess). read more

I have been with Angela for 5 years. I am so happy to see she has opened her own place. It really reflect her awesome sense of style! It's got a great location, and super cool ambiance inside. As a guy, I very comfortable at A Go-Go. I never used hair products before, but Angela always has great suggestions. My wife always loves my haircut, so, that is a major plus! read more

I just had my first experience at A-Go-Go Salon (with Angela), and it was amazing! She was so cool and easy to talk to, and she really knows hair! A self-professed hair geek, with an awesome attitude and fun personality, it doesn't get much better than that for a hair stylist! I also loved the Kevin Murphy products they use (the anti-gravity spray smells like a lavender & gin cocktail)! Kara ("the bang whisperer") was also wonderful, and she knew exactly what to do to remedy my bang trauma from a former cut. It's taken me 20 something years, but I feel like I've finally found a salon and stylist I can trust, that I absolutely love. Highly recommended. : ) read more

If you want drama go here, if you want a good haircut try somewhere else. We were coldly told we weren't to come back after they eliminated the best stylist on staff. So if you want a place with a lot of drama this is the place for you! read more

When I first moved to North Carolina I went to get a hair cut to let me wear my hair curly with the humidity out here. I walked out of that salon with a pixi and me wondering where my hair went. Four years later I finally decide to get over my salon phobia and check out A Go-Go at the insistence of my mother and Step-dad. Alexis is in one word Amazing! She was able to give me a really cute hair cut that still let me keep most of my length while also being something I could maintain on my own. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and everyone and actually already have to one of my coworkers here's hoping she goes. I'm in love with her hair cutting skills and I can't wait to try out her coloring skills since she always makes my mom look gorgeous. read more

I really loved my experience today; I was a new client and was greeted warmly immediately. The look of the salon is clean and bright. Yumi cut my hair and did an AMAZING job; I didn't even think my hair could look so good (I've been cutting and dying it myself.. poorly :p for the past 6 months if that gives you a reference for how talented she is). I was completely relaxed throughout the entire experience and feel I have found my go to salon in Durham. I highly recommend!! read more

This salon is adorable and has a beautiful ambiance about it. I went to see Natalie and I highly recommend it! She is incredibly experienced and knows exactly what she is doing. You tell her anything and she knows exactly what you need. She did a Balayage treatment and cut for me and I have never been happier. I have a hard time finding a good salon and a hairdresser I trust and I could not be happier that I found Natalie. I highly recommend. read more

Angela has been my stylist for over five years now -- pretty much since I moved to Durham -- and she is the absolute greatest. She's an artist when it comes to both cut and color, and she knows just what to do regardless of whether you're ready for a major transformation or just need tiny tweaks to keep a signature look fresh. I trust her completely. What's more, a trip to A Go-Go is more than just an appointment, it's an event that I look forward to because everyone in the salon is so friendly and fun. You simply need to a go-go to A Go-Go! (Sorry, couldn't resist!) read more

Highly recommend! My first visit today, great service, great haircut and I will return for sure!

Kara has been my hair stylist since 2005 and she is a true professional. I get compliments on my hair all the time, and I'm not exactly great at styling it myself, so all the credit goes to Kara. She has an eye for what looks flattering and the skills to pull it off. A Go Go Salon has a lovely atmosphere and I always look forward to my appointments. read more
