She took my natural gray hair to a semipermanent pink using Guy Tang products, which somehow was both professional & fun. Tina did an absolute fantastic job with my hair! I booked online for an appointment in advance for touch up for my ash blonde balayage and a haircut. Tina knew what to do and was attentive at what exactly I wanted. I bought conditioner at the end of of my session and I almost forgot it after paying- I realized I was missing it when I was in line for Ding Tea across the street LOL. I ran back to pick it up and Tina was about to call me to let me know I left it. Very nice people. This salon has pretty reasonable prices compared to other places in the Bay. I paid $295 for a balayage touch up, hair cut, and finishing style. Balayage/ombré services start at $185+. My previous touch up was at another salon where I paid $400+ just for the touch up service alone. You get quality service here with a great value. This salon is located in downtown Alameda and it can be a nightmare trying to find parking on Park St. I parked at the Civic Center garage which was a little walk away. I have been going to see Tina for about 6 years now. Her work is amazing. Then all of a sudden her quotes changes via text after the service. My daughter and I will not be coming back. The last time I was there with my daughter for my birthday Tina charged us $520 when my daughter only got one color and a hair cut and myself with burgundy coloring with bleaching to take off the black and no haircut. I felt over charge then but I didn't say anything because my daughter was very happy with her hair. I don't mind paying for a great job and I always tip $20 every time. Then yesterday Tina charged me $185 for one color and a haircut I paid $200 which she told me by text it's $145 with highlights then she want to charge me another $95 just to add highlights. I am not rich. I am a single mom. I was very disappointed with Tina especially I have been going with her for a while now. I have communicated with her and let her know how I felt. One star for helping me right away when i walked in. Do not get a haircut with TOMMY. I specifically asked for him to use razor bc i do not like blunt end, and told him that i want the front to be shorter. He did the exact opposite of what i asked for. Not sure if there was a communication issue, but the whole time he was cutting my hair he did not say a word. If you are not sure of something then just ask. You can always cut more hair but cannot add length back in. It's common sense. I've never hated my haircut this bad. I've had a bad haircut there in the past, but I've had many more positive experiences. My last time there, Howie gave me a haircut, and although it was subtle, it was a newer style for me. I damaged my hair so much last year with blonde hair and needed to start over. I cut off 10 inches of my hair and donated it to "children with hair loss" but still needed to get it colored so the color wasn't so choppy. I haven't had short hair for years... but I kinda love it! Anyways, I needed to correct the color and most of the places I go to in San Jose or San Francisco were too far for me. I opted for something closer and when I called, they could take me in right away. I was fairly surprised but it worked out well. Jessica did my hair and she knew exactly what I needed. I brought my laptop to do some work and was amazed at how quick she finished my hair. Usually it takes 8-10 hours(no joke) with long hair, but since my hair was short, it was only three She was nice and very friendly to talk to when I wasn't on my laptop. One of the girls gave me a really good hair cut but I went back two months later and another gal cut my hair but it was bad, and uneven.... I wanted to find the original lady that cut my hair but when I went back a third time she was busy, I decided to get my hair dine there any way since I drove there. The woman that cut my hair took forever and didn't really cut it like the picture I showed her. There are are about 4 stylists there and only one good one. Honestly I went in expecting a great service. I was hopeful even during the service as the other employees seemed to be taking great care of their clients. This is my first time going with salon one and I was able to snag an appointment the night before for next day with Jessica. my hair is long and thick but very flat. I went in asking for layers to add some movement to my hair and fringe bangs with some face framing layers. Jessica sat me down and did not seem confident in cutting my hair. She then proceeded to spray my hair and began cutting it. Normally when I get layers I am asked where I want the first layer to begin and how many layers I am looking for, also my hair is sectioned as the layers are being cut. Jessica did non of this. Instead she began cutting vertically at random sections of my hair. This took me off guard as I've never seen layers cut this way but I trusted her and the process thinking this may just be her technique. To make matters worse she cut my hair dry as the water sprayed dried up in a matter of minutes. Once she was done cutting my "layers" she did not even bother to show me the final results and just began cleaning as if to get me going. I was confused because I did not see any face framing layers and she did not even attempt to cut my fringe bangs. When I asked her about it she was like "oh you want bangs?". This made me upset because she obviously ignored my simple requests. The bangs she ended up doing were literally over my eyes. She didn't offer to wash or style my hair, which I would have been happy to pay for. I still paid and tipped her but I left the salon feeling so bad and felt as if my business was not important nor wanted. I had to go home and have my friend fix my hair who told me my hair was uneven and badly done. read more

I discovered this place in 2019 as a gem for solid haircuts and continued coming back when I began regularly coloring my hair the following year in an effort to try something new and different with my look. Before this, I had never colored my hair. Both Tina and Jessica do a fantastic job since I've decided to come in for balayage touch-ups on a quarterly basis. I can reliably arrive for my appointment, give a very broad direction on what I want ("Let's go lighter!") and then they work their magic. My hair is extremely thicc so these ladies have their work cut out for them, but they've shown me nothing but kindness and good humor during my ~3.5 hrs in the seat. As anyone would expect based on the time commitment of just one customer, this process requires significant attention to detail and a ton of patience. The results speak for themselves and my friends always compliment my hair -- one has even become a loyal customer. For a lot of women, when you find stylists who hit the mark every time, you can't help but become attached. There is a high degree of trust involved because your hair is pretty much the very first thing most people notice. I got my hair done by Jessica this past weekend and really loved it! She listened to what I wanted, asked me before making decisions on color, toner, length, etc. and it turned out so great! I live in the city and getting it done at Salon One was less expensive than the city and still just as happy with the results. The only thing that was hard was the parking nearby is all 2 hr so I had to run out halfway through the session to feed the meter. My long tresses + highlights had grown out (way, way out) during the long pandemic of salon closures, and it was *finally* time to get it together Christigale. Made a 9am appointment with Howie. The street parking right in front is free which is AWESOME. The salon has large windows and high ceilings letting in an abundance of natural light. Overall nice comfortable and clean, with staff wearing masks and very friendly. Bathroom was also large, clean and stocked. At start of appointment, Howie took the time to discuss my hair goals in depth - I appreciate that he listened, gave feedback, and was very specific with color tones to ensure our expectations were aligned. For me this step is huge - Howie built the trust right from the start and I can say he 100% delivered. Everything I asked for, he nailed it! I love the depth in warm colors he created while still keeping dark on top as I wanted. I was extremely pleased with the whole experience. I left with extra soft, revived, beautifully styled hair and felt pretty glam walking out of there - haven't felt that way in a long time.
