I am so happy to have found kelly and this salon! I have been dying/bleaching my hair to blonde and light colors for years. I recently just moved here and blessed that my first salon did their job nicely. I had blonde long hair with roots grown out. I got ombré ash blonde, it took about 5 hours for the whole process and it was $280 (tip 20% for total of $336). Kelly and her assistant were mindful and gentle with my hair, and the process was very smooth. She also added a mask and other products to make sure my hair isn't dead haha The salon itself is very well kept and clean, which is a huge plus for me. There is street parking and I didn't have trouble finding any on a Thursday afternoon. Overall, I will be coming here for all my hair requests. I highly recommend Sessions. Kelly has been doing my hair for years. I have a half hour drive to Sessions but I'm not about to change to a closer salon. Kelly is prompt and efficient when scheduling an appointment. She is very skilled at cutting, styling, and coloring my hair. My hair always turns out just the way I like it. In fact, I have received compliments on my hair. Her assistant is great too. She gives wonderful shampoos and ends with a super relaxing massage. Sessions is nicely decorated in a contemporary style with comfy furniture. The plants love it there, too, as they are amazingly healthy. I used to get my hair dyed at this salon and initially had a great experience with Hana. The first time she did my hair, the color looked natural, the dye washed off my scalp easily, and my hair remained soft. Because of this, I kept going back to her. However, one time, she made me wait for about an hour without any attention, so I decided to try another stylist, Kelly. Kelly was busy and ended up passing me back to Hana, which led to my worst experience ever. The product Hana used that time had a very strong, pungent smell, and it felt completely different from what she had used before. I didn't question it at the time because I trusted her. But once I got home, my scalp became itchy, and after washing my hair, it felt rough, dry, and had no shine at all. That's when I realized she had used a much lower-quality product. I'm sharing this experience as a warning--if you go to this salon, make sure to ask about the products they're using. Also, be cautious if you're switched to a different stylist without notice; they might not care about maintaining a good reputation. read more

Some time ago, my awesome, trusted hair stylist, who I'd been with for years, moved away and left me orphaned without a stylist, and faced with the daunting task of finding a new one, which if you're a woman, you can understand is a scary prospect. If you're a woman with a weird, finicky hair type like me, exponentially moreso. I've been trying out new stylists since. I was recently long overdue for a haircut, and looked to Yelp for recommendations on stylists. I saw the high ratings for Sessions salon, and initially reached out to Kelly to schedule an appointment. Kelly got back to me and let me know she was away, but recommended her colleague Fred, and gave me his info, and I went ahead and made an appointment. Fred listened to what I wanted, and delivered exactly what I asked for, paying attention to all details. I went in with dry, poorly grown-out hair, feeling like a complete scrub, and walked out with healthy, beautifully styled, shoulder-length hair, feeling like a new person. I've been coming to Kelly for almost two years for my haircuts and I must say, she never misses! She's quick with the scissors, while also paying attention to detail. Her styling is remarkable as well. Whenever I bring in a photo of the desired cut, Kelly takes the time to listen to my requests and provide honest feedback. My reason for the -1 star is with my recent visit, I didn't feel welcomed when I entered the salon. I stood by the front desk waiting to be acknowledged by the staff and it wasn't until 2-3 minutes later one of the other hairstylists finally greeted me and asked if I had an appointment, to which I said yes. I waited another 10 minutes then Kelly's assistant took me to the back for a hair wash to start the service. Ive been getting my hair colored by Kelly for a few years now and she is amazing! She is so sweet and gives great recommendations for color and cuts. I feel so relaxed and pampered when I'm here. I usually already bleach my hair and Kelly blends my roots so well with my highlights/balayage. She makes sure to keep the integrity and strength of my hair, while also getting to its desired shade. I found Kelly's phone number here on Yelp and texted her for availability and pricing for a normal haircut. She was very responsive. I read good things about her on here so I had high hopes. She asked me to arrive 5 mins earlier so her assistant could wash my hair. Upon arrival, I waited for a few mins until I was brought to the back for a hair wash. Her assistant was very thorough in her washing, it felt relaxing like a mini scalp massage. I told Kelly what I wanted and she gave her opinion on what was doable and what was not. I really appreciated her feedback and her reasonings behind her responses. Not all hair stylists do this and would just cut however you want without thinking about how it would look on the person. I would recommend Kelly if you want someone thorough and attentive. Parking should not be an issue if you have an early appointment. Lots of available metered parking within the same street. read more

This review is only for haircut as I haven't had my hair color from here yet. I've been going to Kelly for a few years (at least 6-7 years) now for my haircuts even before her business (previously from Tomo)! I text her during the week to make an appointment and she's very accommodating with scheduling. The salon is very nice, clean and modern. Price is reasonable. I'm always skeptical when I find a new hairstylist but Kelly did such an amazing job so I had to keep coming back! I was used to getting dry haircuts but here you start off with a hair wash and then cut. Kelly will ask you what kind of haircut you want (helpful if you have photos of what you want), how much you want to cut off, where you want your shortest layer, and she'll give you her recommendation. I always ask for a V cut with long layers and it always consistent! If I'm cutting off more than normal, she'll reconfirm to make sure that's what I really want lol as I'm sure people regret cutting off too much. She'll style your hair: straightened or curled. The only feedback I would give is to apply heat protectant prior to drying/styling as its such high heat. read more

Kelly is the best! I've had black, virgin hair for over 5 years. Stopped coloring my hair mainly because I needed multiple sessions to get my desired color. Kelly exceeded all expectations! She was able to get me to the color I wanted in one session (8 hours, but still only one session!) In the past, I would need 2-3 sessions and by that time, my hair was fried. I spontaneously wanted a haircut... I was looking for a modern mullet and took the time to look up pictures and specifically made sure it was good for thick, wavy/curly hair... I called made sure I could come in and they said I could... I got there and Hanna introduced herself to me.... As I sat I asked her did she know how to cut thick/wavy curly hair and hair with texture... she said yes... I showed her pictures, multiple ones... I asked if she could do it and she said yes... She grabbed her scissors to thin my hair and at that moment I knew this wasn't going to be good... She was planning on taking all my hair and thinning it... which is a no go for my hair... Then she tells me I don't think this cut is good for you... because of my hair...I told her again my hair can do this hair style (if you know how to cut hair with some texture to it) I wasn't there for long because I stopped her and took over her styling because she obviously didn't know that hair that curly/wavy needs certain styling... ALL BAD!!!! One picture is me after I flat ironed it so people can see the lopsided mess she did to my hair... I recently had a cut and perm by Kelly. She recommended a cut that would hold the curls better. Also, I originally wanted large perm rods because I didn't want tight curls. She highly suggested I go with smaller rods, so I went with a medium size. I'm glad I listened to her! My hair came out exactly like I wanted. I have been going to Kelly for years now, even before she had her own business, and she has always been amazing! Consistent results! I haven't had a haircut since shelter in place and was in need of one badly! I made an appointment with her and she was able to get me scheduled in the following week. Kelly requested me to text her once I arrived so that she could let me into the salon as I was her first client of the day. Upon arriving, my temperature was checked and hand sanitizer was available. You have the option of getting your hair done either inside the salon or outside. If done inside, hair blow drying service is not offered to minimize air circulation. It was clear there were COVID guidelines in place. It was just Kelly, myself, another stylist and another client at the salon. Everyone was required to wear a mask and were at least six feet apart. read more

She is a master at her craft and has a way of taking my vision and making it 10 times better. My girlfriend went here for a haircut and they didn't do what she wanted which was to dye all her hair a light brown color. A lot of her hair inside (she has a thick hair) was not dyed & not even the right color so she kindly asked to get it redone. And went she went to get it redone the person doing her hair gaslit her and was talking shit in vietnamese to her WHILE making it darker and worst than it was before. A waste of $200 and almost made her cry I HIGHLY don't recommend unless you understand vietnamese, have thinner hair and don't mind all the other complaints I mentioned. read more

I came in for the first time today to get a haircut, and was very impressed! Hana did a fabulous job. She was friendly, professional, and very thorough! And for the price, I am blown away. I'm always wary of those salon's that charge $50-80 just for a simple haircut. I'm very happy to have found this place because for $35 I got a shampoo, cut, and style. The salon itself is easy to find, located right off Park Street. Upon walking in, I noticed right away that it was spotlessly clean, minimal and classy. The seats looked new and there was not a speck of hair trimmings on the floor. The staff was friendly and greeted me right away. It wasn't too busy since I came in on a Tuesday afternoon. I made an appointment by phone, and it turned out that they had another appointment at the same time. When I got there at 4:30 pm, I was told that my appointment was at 5:45 pm even though the note she has clearly shown that someone wrote it down as 4:45 pm for my name and number.
