So I tried and tried to find a place closer to home. I kept searching for a place on Google and on yelp. I was seriously going to give up and just keep commuting to concord. This place has some pretty good reviews and the prices are really good (have you seen the prices at some of these places in alameda?) I called and scheduled for my hair to be washed, blowed out, re-layered and a bang trim. The person who did my hair was Jenny. She was super nice! And really really good. If you are a dude looking for a place to do Asian men's hair and a nice fade then look no further. I've been coming here for years and they are my go to place for a cut in Alameda. When other places have raised their prices, they have slowly gone up with inflation but kept prices reasonable. Service has always been great, they make sure to prioritize your appointment (sometimes a gentle reminder helps) and when things aren't busy walk-ins are welcome. It's a great place for a cut and reminds me of the haircut places in so-cal! read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. My husband started going here recently and they have been his best haircuts he's ever gotten. There are 2 ladies that work (Cindy is the best!) and they are great and always on time. They pay such great attention to detail while still being super efficient. My first time trying this barbershop. I tried the one across the street before, didn't really like it. I was hesitant in visiting this one because of prior reviews, but I figured the stylists have had years to practice since. I came a few minutes early on a Saturday, the owner arrives a few minutes early to set up shop. A punctual barber is a good sign. I had to wait a bit because an appointment was made; maybe next time I'll call a day or two ahead. A guy came in a few minutes after me, asking for Kelly for a haircut. Found out she doesn't work here anymore due to marital bliss. This place is on one of the main streets of Alameda, I parked about 10 blocks away but I enjoy the walk. The street is usually crowded on Saturday with farmers' market and people coming out for breakfast/brunch. Street parking was packed! My barber was Jennie, she arrived a few minutes after the shop opened. She's possibly the most gentle with attention-to-detail barber I've ever met in my entire life! She took her time to cut my hair using a multitude of tools, which is a rare quality to have. After 3 years of searching in Oakland/Alameda, I finally found a barber who understood what "zero on the side, eight on top" means! She also asked for the length of the front of my hair 2-3 times as she was cutting, which was a huge plus. She's simply perfect for the type of haircut I look for (since my previous barber retired). So yea, I might be coming here again. read more

Love going here for my haircuts! My sister brought me here and recommended Kelly about 3 years ago and I've always seen her since! There are times where I can be same haircut as last time and she remembers exactly how I liked it. And then there are other times when I want to change it, show a picture, and she can fit the haircut I want to match and blend to the shape of my head. Stopped by here for a haircut as everyone is opening up. Beauty Cut followed all the COVID19 safety standards. They first give hand sanitizer, do a temperature check, and require masks. There were two haircut stations, 6 feet well apart. One station is tucked in the back behind a glass window. The lady who cut my hair took her time. She was delicate and I appreciate that a lot. She had me hold my mask for a little but so that she could cut around the ears. It's $20 for a men's haircut. They do take credit card, but with a $1 extra charge. There is street parking around which was no problem on a Sunday. Tip: it's better to call in for an appointment. read more

They did a rush job on my hair so they could accommodate an appointment. They seem to have difficulties with appointments here. Totally uneven bad haircut. Then they charged me $5 more saying my was "long." They didn't mention this before cutting my hair or course. I think they're used to doing fades all the time so someone who walks in with 4 inches of hair it's considered "long." Went in for my sons haircut and had waited 30 min since there was already 2 people getting a fade. When it came to our turn with 1 other person who showed up 5 min before finishing up, apparently was an appointment so then we had to wait another 25 min for that to finish up. Finally when it came to our turn, I showed a photo of how my son wanted his haircut and preceeded to thin out his hair, I said 1 inch trim and leave the bangs, do not touch his bangs and guess what she did, butchered his bangs, cut off half his hair and said to let it grow longer...likr wtf?! after reading reviews thinking it was a go to spot, definitely not.....first and last time coming here. Love coming to this local hair salon. The staff is so friendly and accommodating!! Got lucky finding it when things were opening up a bit during the pandemic. Appointments are best but they also welcome walk-ins when not too busy. Ill start by saying I come here once a month and I love Cindy and the other lady who is normally cutting. Today however I had a terrible haircut. I have had a girl named Kelly once before today and she took a really long time to cut my hair (i usually avoid her). It also wasn't a great hair cut. This time since Cindy was on vacation and the other lady was busy so I impatiently decided that maybe she got better. Well, she hasn't. I usually get a Mid fade and she gave me an odd looking high fade where one length of shorhair runs all the way up to the long hair on the top of my head not blended at all. You could tell she was struggling and going over and over spots to make them even. I show a picture of what I want every single time I walk in and it's usually great. We needed a last minute appointment for buzz cut and trim. We were around the neighborhood and decided to give Beauty Cut a try. We found out this spot is owned by an extremely nice and humble Korean lady that has been around many many many years. There's two young ladies that does men's cut or women's short haircut. If you want a perm or a wash it's with the other ladies. Great service, great attitudes and detail cuts. Show them a picture of a style you want, they'll do their best. Our experience was great. Highly recommended for Men's haircut (buzz and trim). I am guessing don't answer phone calls, for most services is walk-in. read more

Horrible service. Came in for a haircut and called that morning to book the appointment. The woman had a mask on her face. I told her I was hearing impaired and read lips and would need to see her lips to understand anything she was saying OR she would have to write information down. The woman refused to do either. Bad customer service. I called for a 5:15pm appointment and I get to the shop at 5:10pm with no one ahead of me. Both the ladies were cutting hair so there was a wait. 3 more customers show up after me and when one of the stylist finished cutting the other customer's hair, she approached the waiting customers. Thinking I was next, I almost got up and she tells me "oh this guy (man sitting next to me who showed up at 5:30pm) has a 5:15pm appointment." I replied with I do as well and she said "I'll get to you next!" Ok I have patience but the fact that this guy showed up 15 minutes past his appointment and I was on time, I should have been next but I waited nonetheless. The other stylist finished cutting another customer's hair and she didn't even bother to approach me knowing I had been waiting for almost 45 minutes and tells a customer that showed up 20 minutes after me to get to her chair. At this time, it was approaching 6pm so I left the establishment and decided they will never get my business again. Honor the appointment and don't play favoritism. I don't even think the guy had a 5:15pm, it seemed like a friend of the stylist. Now I know why there was a man who was very irate walking out of the shop the first time I came to this shop 3 months ago. The quality of the haircuts are what you pay for and this is why this shop continues to have business because they are cheap, but these stylists need to know how to treat their customers right. You can tell they don't value returning customers because they get business no matter what but that was just in poor taste. Judging from the other reviews, they don't honor appointments. What's the point of suggesting it's better to have appointments when you don't honor it? Gents Just got my first haircut at Beauty Cuts today. Since my former hairdresser moved out of state, I was in need of a great replacement for my head. I found what I am looking for in Beauty Cut on Webster. Despite the parking situation due to weekly Farmer Market taking up most of the parking space, I found myself in a happy space after I googled the best men's haircut in Alameda. I waited for one specific hairdresser and was not disappointed in the wait. Young and older gents were there prior for haircuts and they all looked fine. But for my head, I am very particular and highly critical. After all, it's my face I look at every morning in the mirror. This place is only good for cutting men's hair(short hair). Not a women long hair. Most of customers are men. Not gentle with the head.

I suspect false, the owner's answer that Kelly quit to take care of her new baby. But congratulations to Kelly, if she's pregnant. More likely she moved to another hair salon, or opened her own.) b) Today, I made an appointment for whomever available. Unfortunately, when I arrived a few minutes early, another customer was already waiting. Normally I'd just excuse a (schedule) mistake...especially as I've been a monthly customer since 2016; always had a great job done, for which I always gave Kelly a 50% tip. But, this being the first time coming, after learning she no longer worked there, I was already deciding if I should still go there, or look around. And, oddly they didn't even apologize for their schedule mistake. It was only when I had almost reached the door to leave, when they said sorry, can you please wait? So, I went across the street to another barbershop, and gladly waited for the next available person. I'm bummed after 6+ years, to have lost Kelly. I was running late for my appointment so I call to let my hair dresser know that I am running late. She told me if I can reschedule my appointment. So, I did for next day. Next day I went there 15 minutes early but when it was time for my appointment, she said there's another person in front of me. That person has a 30 minutes appointment before mind. Messed up my bangs since August. Still trying to grow them out and I can't fix them because she made them extremely thick and I don't know how the hell you mess up bangs this badly! After years of spending $55 for a hipster barber to give me a mediocre cut and a glass of whiskey, I finally wised up. I keep my hair short, I usually wear hats because I've never been thrilled with my cuts. So I had nothing to lose. I decided to stop in here based on a few reviews. Sat down almost instantly (no appointment). I got Kelly. She was welcoming, kind, and understood immediately what I wanted and WHY. (I had longer hair because I was tired of paying $55+, but I wanted something stylish and manageable again.) She got to work. And in 25 minutes, I walked out with the best haircut I've ever had in my life. Kelly factored in my head shape, my cowlicks, and natural part. I walked in with a hat on - haven't put one on since.
