It's crazy to say but I've been getting my hair done by Jessie for the past 11 years, and I truly can't recommend her enough. Over the years, I've watched her grow from renting a chair in different salons to accomplishing the amazing milestone of owning her own space. It's been so inspiring to see her success. Jessie is incredibly sweet, selfless, and one of the most personable people you'll ever meet. I'll admit I once made the mistake of going somewhere else, and quickly learned my lesson-- no one compares to her work or the experience she provides. Going blonde isn't a quick process, but Jessie always checks in throughout the appointment to make sure you're comfortable. She truly cares about the health of your hair and is always continuing her education to stay up to date with the best techniques. She also recommends high-quality products to help you maintain your hair between visits. I constantly get compliments on my hair, and it's all thanks to Jessie's talent. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about their clients and takes pride in their craft, leave it into the hands of Jessie!! read more

Crop Salon - Look at my amazing hair by Jessie!! - Hair Salons Near Me - Alameda, California

This review is long overdue. I've been trying to keep this place a hidden gem for some time, but I must give credit where credit is due. My hair typically takes a beating during travel, seasonal - weather change or simply me over-styling. Jessie approaches each visit with genuine care, artistry and evolves with the latest changes in hair color, technique and products. My favorite are the warm tones (bayalage). I always walk out feeling like a million bucks each time I see her. Thank you, Jessie read more

Crop Salon - Fall ready! - Hair Salons Near Me - Alameda, California

I've been going to see Jessie since 2022. Over the years she's become a trusted confidant and like a part of my family. Her coloring is amazing and prices are very reasonable! Jessie started doing overall hair color to cover up my grays, and then moved to highlighting. We've done all kinds of different colors like rose gold, blues/greens, purples, and coppers. All of them have looked AMAZING!! Her coloring is phenomenal but the actual hair cuts are so wonderful. I love how she is really thoughtful and takes the shape of my face into account (and how it's changed over the years due to weight loss) and she spends a lot of time making sure that the cuts are even and straight. I started seeing her when I lived in Alameda and then I moved over to Redwood City but I still drive the distance to see her. I won't let anyone else touch my hair! She is so understanding and accommodating of times when I've needed to be late or even cancel at the last minute due to sickness or an emergency with my kitties. A few weeks ago I contacted her to see if she could squeeze me in for a quick color since I had a job interview and she was able to squeeze me in when she was obviously busy! (Fast forward to my hair looked so good and I got the job!) Fun facts: At times, I've had to bring in my laptop to my appointment to work and she's always set me up with a little work space haha. And I can't even tell you how many times she's gone out to get coffee for me If you're on Yelp looking for a warm, talented, and dependable artist to do your hair, you can't find better than Jessie. I recommend all my friends to her. read more

Jessie does such a great job with your hair! My hair is thin and dark brown, and she gave me baby lights and was extremely honest with me how light she was willing to bleach my hair to level set my expectations. When I came out of my hair session, my newly bleached hair did not feel dry at all, and she gave me the perfect ashy light blonde color that I wanted. The salon is small but cozy with plants and natural night. Jessie really goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable. I highly recommend getting your hair done with Jessie! read more

Jessica was very pleasant, professional, and did a great job! I needed a balayage done as it's been a while and my cousin wanted to get her hair done as well. We were able to schedule an appointment together with no issues. She took her time with both our colors and didn't rush it! The area is nice and quiet and the salon was very clean and cozy. Jessica was knowledge and addressed all the care questions we had and offered suggestions when we were unsure. My goal was for a color that had dimension and was easy to maintain when grown out. The color turned out great! I'll definitely be back when I need a touch up. read more

A long awaited review, I had two sessions; one in April of 2021 and another in July 2021. I heard of Crop Salon from a friend and a coworker and I wanted to get an ash blonde balayage. I contacted Jessie by phone for a consultation. I came into the consultation and told her what I wanted and was honest what I've done to my hair in the past- I was probably a nightmare because my hair was black box dyed 6 months prior lol. She did a bleach strand test and recommended a color correction. She was very honest with me and transparent that I may not get the results I desire. We scheduled for March for the first session, though we had to reschedule because she was feeling the after effects of her vaccine that day. No biggie. Both sessions took all day- about 8 hours because I have thick hair! Jessie was amazing though and made sure I was comfortable throughout both sessions. My hair/balayage didn't look truly ash blonde until a couple weeks after my 2nd session so it definitely takes patience. Jessie was very helpful and recommended me over text what products to use to maintain my hair and what to use after getting my hair done because it was going to be extremely brittle and dry. I paid in cash both times, you get 5% off and also some free products of your choice. The first time I got a color safe shampoo and the second I got a hair cream treatment with texturizing powder. read more

I've been going to Jessie to get my hair colored for a few years now! Before Jessie, I went around the Bay Area trying different salons from San Jose to Daly City and all the way to Walnut Creek. I love the results I got from the other salons but most of the time, in my first few washes, I can tell that my hair got super damaged during the dyeing process. My hair would get SUPER tangly upon washing my hair for the first time since dyeing it or the hair color fades to brassy only after a few washes. Those have been the main reasons why I'd try a different salon the next time. Then I found Jessie! Her salon is located in a plaza in Alameda and there's plenty of parking. Her salon is always very clean. I love her quality of work with her balayage/babylights - she always takes her time when she's working on my hair. She's also super nice as well and checked in on me a few times throughout the appointment to see if I need anything. Definitely pricier than the other places I've gone to but I feel like it's very well worth it. I feel like she uses quality materials. My hair always feels so soft after and the hair color lasts for a long while too! One of the great things about Jessie is that she doesn't rush her work so be prepared to spend about 4-5 hours at the salon! Know that it'll be well worth it! read more

I dislike it when people gatekeep the good services and people, so it'd be wrong if I did that here. Jessie is a rare find. Let me break it down: * Communication 5/5 - Jessie texts you to confirm, if she's late, and I've even had to change plans when my dog got sick suddenly. She's responsive and I appreciate it! * Skill 5/5 - She is amazing at her craft. Highly professional. Beyond that, she will give her honest opinion. I appreciate when a stylist can say, "I can do that, but let me tell you what that would mean about you maintaining this style, how it would grow out, etc." She doesn't just say what I want to hear or force her opinions - she offers candid feedback but works with what you want. * Location 5/5 - Random strip mall near the Webster tunnel with a lot of parking. I don't get cuts often, but have gone to her twice, and have been happy both times. read more

JESSIE is 10/10 would recommend! I have had the pleasure of meeting Jessie and having her work her magic on me over 10 years ago. Her skill set is unmatched like no other person that I know. she listens to your wants and offers her true expertise and advice so that you receive the best end result. I will not let anyone touch my hair!! Because i trust her soooo much, i willingly sit in her chair and tell her '" Do whatever you want, Jessie. I trust you !" The end result is always amazing and i literally walk out feeling like a changed woman. Shoots my confidence level up instantly! I can attest that i get double takes from people as i walk by! lol. she has done fantasy colors on my hair ( magenta, purple, dark blue/purple) , balayage, highlights, peekaboo, covered grays, touch ups and haircuts. Jessie truly does it all. she is a true gem and i am so happy that i get to experience her love and care for my hair. Definitely support Jessie and her salon! You will not regret it! read more

I finally found THE BEST place to get your hair done in the Bay Area! Especially if you need balayage! I have seen Jessie several times now.. about 3 different times for balayage and 2 haircuts and I've been extremely happy each time. She is very skilled in her techniques and very meticulous, which is so important because my hair isn't damaged and I'm able to go several months before needing a touch up. On top of that, I just enjoy her and her salon so it's always a positive experience there. I won't go anywhere else as long as I live in California! Also the location is great and there is plenty of parking. Her prices are fair considering she is extremely skilled so it is worth every penny to me. I also like that she uses quality products that don't irritate my skin, especially since my skin is really sensitive. These photos are about a year apart. Highly recommend!! read more

Covid Update: Jessie is still the best person I've ever gone to for balayage and a haircut and I'm so glad I went back! There's a plastic shield that separates the two chairs (used to be three, they spaced them apart more) so you can feel super safe in case anyone else walks in. The place is super clean and the chairs are sanitized after every client. They also sanitize the bibs you wear for your haircut after every person! Jessie takes her time and makes your hair feel as nice as it did before you bleached it. This was another fantastic experience and I can't wait to be back again! :) read more

Crop Salon - Today's results! - Hair Salons Near Me - Alameda, California

Made an appointment over a week ago, which I had a text exchange with Jessie about the cut and color I was requesting, including a sample photo of the style and color. I showed up on time, and stylist was 12 minutes late, and didn't know who I was or what I had requested until I showed her the photo of the sample style and color work - then she proceeded to tell me she didn't even have that type of color in stock in her shop, and all she could do was offer a temporary wash that would rinse out after I washed my hair again. She also didn't seem to understand the type of cut I was after (I explained I'd like short in back, long in front, and she said "Oh, long in back, short in front". Not a great way to start my day, since I had taken the day off work for this. Do not use this salon- Alameda has a multitude of other salons and this has to be one of the worst. read more

I love Jessie! She is so sweet. I've been to her two separate times - for a tone and for some baby lights - see photos. During the whole session she would check in to see how I was doing and if I needed anything - water, snacks, to go to the rest room, etc. I was her last session of the day and she had ordered pizza to the salon for her dinner and she even gave me some slices to give to my husband who was waiting in the car! LOL Highly recommend Jessie read more

I came to Jessie last fall for a color correction and she did a great job. I have fine hair and lots of it, so it was a long process. She used babylights to retrieve my hair from chocolate-reddish all-over lowlights that were the wrong color for my complexion, applied too heavily, and applied unevenly. I came away with polished neutral-gold highlights that made me recognize myself in the mirror once again, and added a lovely oomph to my face. Yesterday I went back to get a root melt to extend the life of the babylights she did back in the fall. I love it! One thing I really love about Jessie is she shows you the colors she's going to use, explains the process in detail, and then texts you exactly what she did afterward. There are no secrets, no attitude that you should keep your nose out of her process. I think she understands how anxiety-producing getting color can be, and she knows how to dispel that anxiety for a certain type of nervous client (like me!). read more

Jessie is an absolute kind and accommodating professional!! She explains everything in the process, every step of the way so that you know exactly what is going on. She is extremely patient and sweet and I will definitely come back to her salon when I'm ready for another hair transformation!! I came in for a lightening process (level 1/2 to level 8/9) which we hoped would take the 4 hours I was scheduled for but we ran into some issues as I unknowingly had leftover dye still in my hair from previous at-home attempts to dye my hair (I genuinely thought it grew out/faded by this point ). My previous color was lifting patchy and not reacting to the bleach. Jessie kindly apologized as she thought I had virgin hair since it was so dark, but I realized I hadn't shared everything I've done to my hair with her beforehand. Nonetheless, Jessie was super upfront and let me know my options - to wash out the bleach and go back to dark, or continue the process and try to correct the color. Admittedly I was nervous at this point because it looked like I was not able to get close to the color I wanted. I decided to move forward with the bleaching and correction process and trust in Jessie. I AM SO GLAD I DID!!! My session lasted around 8 hours and I cannot stress how great Jessie was through the whole time. She made sure to keep updating me on the progress of my hair and we were able to lift my previous color to a level 7! We had to bleach my ends twice due to the patchy color but with a lot of waiting and toning, we were able to get to a blonde I am super super happy with! Jessie made sure to ask if I had any questions throughout the whole process, though I felt I never really had any as she lets you know exactly what's going on, the whole session. She also asked me if I wanted to stay blonde for a while and what my future color goals were, so I would know when to come back in for a touch up, and how to maintain my color to prep for a smoother transition when I'm ready to make a change. Jessie's amazing service and personality makes her someone I will continue to come back to for all my hair color needs! read more

I am a new mommy and I could not wait to get my hair done! When it comes to color and cut, I am particular like I'm sure a lot of you women are. I've done color at 2 other well-known salons here in Alameda and I was not happy about it. When I saw Jessie's Yelp review with photos of clients, I was eager to check it out. She responded right away on the phone and through text. Jessie was detailed, professional, friendly, and answered all my questions with no problem. She gave me reasonable pricing and I was happy to pay. I've had my color done before (balayage/ombre/highlights), coming from Los Angeles $$$$, and it can be costly! Anyways, I was able to get an appointment within days! Her studio is modern and cute. Love the plants! I felt right at home. And most of all, I was able to pump in a very clean and organized bathroom! Haha. She told me right away the cut and style that would look nice. I love when stylist get right in there and suggests the best way to do things. I wanted to try something completely different, so I did nice shades of purple with an edgy cut. She told me how to maintain it well when I'm at home and even provided the products needed for my colored hair. She gave me great tips to keep my hair color strong as long as I can. Thank you Jessie! I love my hair and everyone thought it was sexy! read more

If I could give Jessie a MILLION stars I would! Not only is she one of the nicest people you will ever meet she is an amazingly talented hair professional! She always stays current with new styles, trends, education and products. I've been going to her for a few years now, my hair was a disaster when I first went in and she brought my hair back to life from the blue black mess it was to the ashy blonde it is now. For someone like me who never ever ever ever gets her hair done, I was simply frustrated and bored with my long, black, unruly hair, I decided to go balls out and have it colored .... red!! Jessie is amazing - Response time was quick through yelp and she actually had an open slot for me the day I requested an appointment. The salon is small, but clean and organized tucked behind Marina Village at Crop. I came in for a bayalage ombré and wanted a deep red, noticeable, but not too red. She explained everything during the whole process of what color would work best all the way to how to maintain the color. I was a little worried that she was able to get me in last minute, as most stylists that are good tend to have weeks or months of a waitlist, but not in this case!
