I absolutely LOVE Nancy! She is a triple threat artist! Hair, makeup, and nails! She is very talented, meticulous and patient. She has done my nails a handful of times and always exceeded my expectations. She never gets polish on my cuticles and is a perfectionist when it comes to nail art. I've had the pleasure of woking with her during my engagement photo session and wedding last year. I can't believe how my hair and makeup stayed all day from SF at 8AM until 6pm in Las Vegas, where the shoot took place. (Check out some photos I addded.) I wish I could have taken her with me for touch ups, but it wasn't even necessary! I loved the natural looking false lashes she chose for me, They look amazing in person and in photos. Nancy was amazing on my wedding day. She came over super early in the morning and worked on 5 of my bridesmaids' hair, did my mom's makeup, and did my hair. I discovered Nancy from a friend who used her for their wedding makeup (Hair & Makeup). My friend had so many nice things to say about Nancy that I had to go see what it was all about. My first encounter with her was to do a shellac mani and pedi at a shop in Alameda. Nancy was wonderful to talk to and she did excellent work. I was really happy with my nails and the color stayed on for a long time. She is also a talented artist and will draw anything you ask her to. When I found out that Nancy was doing lashes, I went to try her out and was overjoyed with the results. As you can see from the photo, another salon really messed up my "mink" lashes and they were curly and going all different directions. Nancy was so patient and removed each lash one by one in order to start fresh and install a new set. The whole process was pain free and when she was finished, my lashes were beautiful and I was so happy with them. Nancy has a way of making the lashes really full and voluminous without looking tacky. Her style is apprenticed from the famous Long Mi lash school. 3 weeks after getting the lashes done, I still have almost have of them left, which is rare! Thank you Nancy for all your effort! I was supposed to have an appointment today at 11:15am with Nancy, after waiting almost a month, and she never even showed up. The lights were off and the door was locked. No one ever called me to say that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. Hell, I even tried calling her numerous times and she just never picked up. I don't know if this is how she runs her business and if so, it's truly remarkable that she is still in business. Don't be fooled by her reviews because let me tell you, you will be like me and wait only to be disappointed. Shame on Nancy for not being a decent person to do business with. Nancy is FRICKIN' awesome! I had the privilege of using her services for my engagement photo shoot in San Francisco in January where she helped me with my hair, makeup and even wardrobe consultant for the day. Being the procrastinator that I am, I didn't decide on the outfits for the engagement shoot until the morning of. For that reason, I wasn't able to give very much direction for what I wanted my hair and make up to look like. I showed Nancy my outfits and asked her to come up with a look that was more "natural".... Two hours later, VOILA! She did a great job in creating a look that was casual enough for jeans, formal enough for a nice dress and "natural". (Sorry, that's as good as my descriptions get, see photos for yourself) I booked her immediately for my wedding and I cant wait! Nancy stayed with me the entire day to help with touch ups and thank goodness she did! Winds were blowing at 40 MPH in the freezing San Francisco weather. My hair was blowing in 50 different directions, all at once! Half the time, I wouldn't be able to see if a Muni bus was coming straight at me because my hair got so crazy. Nancy straightened me out every single time and got me picture ready in seconds by pinning by hair up, pinning it to one side, adding hairspray, whatever it took, she did it without skipping a beat! A true PROFESSIONAL! I spent all day with Nancy the day of the photo session and besides realizing all of her professional talents, I've learned that she is a just a fun, giving and all around nice person. Example: I told her she had a cute hair clip, she took it off her hair and offered to let me use it for my next photos before I even finished my sentence! Really!? What more can you ask for? This is for Polished, the nail salon at 1002 Central Avenue in Alameda, CA. I can't get Yelp to let me review it. Nancy must be the owner or an artist there. Polished is great. I've reviewed them before and was wanting to check their hours and how the current reviews are. The people at Polished are friendly, it's a luxurious environment and they did a great job on me. Almost one star off for sophisticated club chairs instead of tacky massage chairs I can fall asleep in. I just read that Vickies across the street, with said tacky chairs, has treated some Black women s***ty. Uh no. I'm not going someplace that treats my sisters like that. WTH is wrong with people! Racism makes zero sense. And it's deadly. Anyway, I haven't witnessed anything like that at Polished. Everyone was treated with familiarity, warmth and care. First off, I workout a lot so my hands and feet are constantly rough and haggard--she brings them back to life consistently, every time. My favorite thing is that she takes her time & she's a perfectionist, so I can fall asleep in her chair and rest assured that I will wake up glamorous! P.S. she can create ANY design, any time, freehand! Nancy is a miracle worker! She did my make up and hair for both my church ceremony and my winery reception. The winery was located on treasure island which is known to be super windy, but my hair magically stayed in it's updo throughout the whole photoshoot outside. I had my first set of eyelash extensions today at Polished and Nancy was so fantastic from beginning to end. It was super easy to get in touch with her to set up an appointment, she was so professional and pleasant to communicate with. Upon arrival, she was so warm and inviting. She really listened to my desires and concerns. She made great recommendations for what she thought would best serve my needs. She was patient, super detail oriented and attentive. I was nervous to have someone work so close to my eyes, but Nancy quickly put my fears at ease. Even after we were done, she took more time to teach me how to maintain my lashes. Nancy was wonderful! After meeting her at my make-up trial session I knew that I could trust her with my wedding make-up! She was a great listener and knew exactly what I was looking for. I had wanted a natural look for my wedding and she really understood. On the day of my wedding, she came early and set things up so nicely and comfortably. She played relaxing music in the background and was very calming and understanding when I mentioned I had butterflies in my stomach. There was a lot of activity going on around us- family getting ready, nephews running around, etc...that she was so reassuring and calming through it all. I completely relaxed in her presence. After hearing how amazing Nancy's work was I knew I had to ask her to do my hair & makeup for my engagement party. I had a 60s inspired/ old Hollywood classic look in mind & she definitely achieved my vision! She started with my hair. Curling & pinning it with clips as they cooled made me feel really retro. As the curls were setting she began my makeup. She had a soft touch and was patient with taking breaks as I was also delegating things that needed to be done before the party. My makeup was done so she asked me to put on my party dress before she took down my pinned curls. We had nice music in the background, both facing the mirror, and she pulled down the first curl. As soon as she did that I saw the complete look, took a deep breath and began to tear. I felt so beautiful. Trying to fight back the tears bc I didn't wanna ruin all her amazing work I looked at her in the reflection of the mirror, smiled and said thank you. Nancy does amazing work. I LOVE NANCY HUA! She is dedicated, down to earth, and fun to work with. Not only is she beautiful herself, she makes her clients look and feel beautiful too! I recently took pictures for an engagement shoot and hired Nancy for my trial. She came right on time and brought her arsenal of makeup in her cute suitcase and was ready to go! She listened carefully to what I wanted and was very meticulous with my makeup. She also has a natural gentle touch. I also had her do my nails, which were perfection! We were rushing out the door for the engagement session so she was also able to whip up a trial updo and put it back down into loose curls (in 30 minutes!). I don't think half of the photos would have turned out as nice as they did if it wasn't for Nancy staying extra to help me touch-up and fix my hair/make-up. Our photographer was awesome too (Jasmine Lee), but I'll save that for a separate review! She really went above and beyond and I would recommend her to anyone!
