He reached out for a conversation before I came in and I knew I was in good hands. And then I was BLOWN AWAY by what he was able to achieve!! I had expected it would take a few visits to get there. Justin knows hair!! There is a science and an art to color, especially for those of us wanting dimensional color. Justin has both expertise and artistry!! I'm just delighted. I want to also mention that the salon itself is lovely. Spacious and airy, with a sweet back patio. I loved the art, too. The whole experience was uplifting! Justin is easy to talk to, the vibes are chill. I'm including before and after photos in hopes that my review might help someone else in a similarly desperate situation. I naturally have dark brown hair, and I came in with an inspiration picture asking for an autumn copper-brown reddish color. They were very confident that they could make the color I wanted happen, which made me feel comfortable moving forward with the service. After the first round, she was already getting ready to send me home, but I told her I was not happy with the results because my hair barely looked different from when I came in. It stayed mostly the same dark brown, except for some patchy plum-colored areas. I paid $120 for that first service. After I explained that I was unhappy, she recommended bleaching my hair to get me closer to the lighter copper-brown reddish color I originally asked for. What bothered me was that before starting the bleach, she never told me she would also be doing another client's hair color at the same time. While the bleach was sitting in my hair, there was one point where she was away for about 40 minutes. I was so nervous about the bleach sitting in my hair that I actually started a timer myself because I did not want anything to happen to my hair. She was also leaving at other times in between for around 20 to 30 minutes while working on the other client. I really wish my hair had been monitored more closely throughout the bleaching process, especially because of how light it ended up becoming. Instead of the autumn copper-brown reddish color from my inspiration picture, I ended up with orange and blonde hair. I paid another $230 for the second service, bringing my total to $350. I am extremely disappointed that I spent $350, went through two rounds of color and bleaching on previously virgin hair, and still did not receive anything close to what I originally asked for. If you have naturally dark virgin hair and are looking to go lighter, based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend this place.

I loved that when you booked you were asked questions about your hair type, health and what you were looking to do. When I came in I was warmly welcomed be everyone. Raquel was asking me more questions and referred back to others I had already answered. She was SOOO thorough asking about length, styling, and even telling me about if she cut the layers and how it would look in a ponytail. I immediately felt at ease and the process from there was so relaxing. She washed my hair ensuring the water temperature was comfortable and so was I, no awkward sitting. Then when she started cutting she showed me exactly how much she'd be taking off and continuously talked with me about what she was doing. We had a great conversation and she is such a sweet woman. If you can't tell from the pictures I walked out feeling like a million bucks. When I walked through the door my husband literally said, " WOW baby look at you, your hair looks great!" This review is in her words, translated to English and posted on my Yelp account because she does not have one. This review is for a hair treatment my mom went to Moon Salon for and not a review on a hair cut. My mom wanted to get her hair permanently straightened, as she's been getting this done for years at various other salons whenever her hair has grown out. She's driven past this salon on several occasions and wanted to try the place out. She did not make an appointment prior to coming in but was the only customer there and Moon helped her with her hair needs. Moon placed the straightening treatment on my mom's hair and placed her under the heat dryer chair. Moon set the timer for 45 minutes then that's when other customers started coming in. There were 2 or 3 other customers and she was helping them with their hair needs when the timer she had set for my mom went off. Moon came to reset the timer for another time and proceeded to help these other customers. When she was finally done with these 2 or 3 customers, she returned back to check on my mom. Keep in mind, the time that has passed was 45 minutes and then some. She took my mom to rinse off then blow dried her hair and flat ironed it before sending my mom off home. During this process of washing off and styling, my mom felt mild pain but did not think anything of it, thinking it was a side effect of the treatment. When my mom got home, she combed her hair and noticed a lot of hair falling off. She then started patting the top of her head and it felt incredibly prickly to the touch. The next day my mom went back to the salon to talk with Moon and let her know that her hair was falling off and burnt to a crisp. Moon, at first denied any part, saying my mom's curly hair was the reason. This is far from the truth as we are Asian women with normal, straight hair. Moon did not want to return my mom's money so she gave my mom an oil treatment but to everyone's disappointment, that didn't help. With nothing else left to do, my mom returned home with her crispy hair. My mother just wanted pin straight hair and ended up with her hair being burnt off. A lot of her hair broke off and in some places, she had bald spots. Where her hair parted, a lot of hair missing as well. In short, she fried my mom's hair off to the point that it all frizzled, sizzled, and broke off. 2 months later, the hair that's fallen off has started to grow back and it is evident as it sticks out like cow licks. I am saddened to this happened to my mom as it was the mistake on Moon's part to leave her in the hair dryer for longer than needed just so Moon could work on other people's hairs. My mother wanted me to write this to let others know to be aware when coming to Moon's salon for hair treatments. She did, however, say that Moon cuts hair beautifully -- her hair treatment services are what others should be wary of. Photos will be posted along with this review so that those searching for a salon has all the information when taking this salon into consideration.

Unfortunately, my haircut turned out horrible and I was lucky to come out of the salon without being burned. I was charged $22 + tips for a haircut, no wash, a regular cut, nothing fancy, no bangs, no layers, just a regular women's haircut. I went home to wash my hair and my ends looked unfinished. Moon (the owner) cut my hair, nothing special about the cut, it was rushed, fast, and sloppy. Not sorry for the bad review because she could of burn me in the face with the hair straighter and apologize pretending it was an accident when that shouldn't happen if she was being careful. Neighborhood is sketchy and thinking about the nasty scar I could of gotten from this place, all not worth giving this salon a try again.
