I made an appointment online with Nelly on a Saturday around 3PM requesting for a haircut. She is so friendly and listened to how I typically style my hair and how much I wanted cut. She also made sure before she did larger cuts that I was comfortable with the length and letting me know how my hair would flow if I went one way vs the other. Hannah took care of me and was very caring and attentive to my hair, and it shows! I think the color she did came out beautifully. While there, I got a nice coffee, hot tea, and even snacks! The ladies were super sweet and kind to me, they felt like older cousins or cool aunties just taking care of me! I felt kindness and got excellent service and beautiful color! Had an amazing experience with Nelly and excited for my next appointment with her! I let her know that I had a bad experience a couple weeks back with another salon where I was basically left with what kinda looked like a bowl cut on top of a wig. Yes, you read that correct! Update 2: 3/25: I noticed on my cc statement a refund for the amount I paid. While it doesn't exactly fix my hair, it is a nice gesture and an act of good faith so I added a few stars back on. I think if you are just trimming or styling longer hair, you can walk out with a good cut and style, (depends on your stylist), but if you have or are looking for something on the edgy or shorter side, make sure you are familiar with and confident in your stylist here first! In the past I had really great experiences with this salon and Ashley did a great job taking my hair from mid shoulder to a pixie (but she is no longer there). I was expecting the same level of quality and skill from the new stylist. If a cut won't work, it's important your stylist can work with you and explain what will work or why it won't work and help with alternatives. (Though I feel the cut I showed should have been achievable with the length I had). When my hair grows out again, maybe I'll give a different stylist here a shot. 3/18: my old stylist Ashley is no longer here so I went with a new girl. I showed a picture of a relatively popular layered bob. Whatever she did, it's not is not cut the way the photo showed, not exactly anyway...The skin on my neck is sore/burning from whatever undercut thing she did in attempt to fix whatever she was doing back there. I went to my car and cried after paying $70 for this crappy haircut and my husband even said when I got home "it's bad...really bad". I won't be back after this unfortunately. The price is too high for a bad haircut. You can see the red marks on my neck from the razor. Ouch! The back side photos were taken about 8 hrs after my apt. I had such an amazing experience with Nelly. I will forever be a customer. I have wavy/curly hair that I've always struggled styling. I booked a haircut appt. with Dinah for a Lob cut. A LOB is just a long bob. If you don't know what a bob is, just google it :) I got there like 5 mins before my appt. time. Free parking lot with a pizza spot, dollar tree and other stores. I was offered a beverage and they had lots of magazines at the front and comfy seating. Dinah took me to the chair like 2 mins later. I showed her some pictures on Google and we went over the length and stuff. She cut like 3" off straight across and then we went to shampoo & conditioner my hair then back to the chair for the trimming, shaping and layering. She was very thorough throughout the whole process and checked in with me a few times before proceeding (not a lot of hairstylists do that). Some just cut and cut and don't really listen to what you want. Anyway, Dinah and Brenda (the owner) are very friendly and great at what they do! The rest of the staff is very nice also! I got my hair cut by Vanessa about 4 mornings ago. I had been here twice before and they have always done an exceptional job cutting my hair. I can not say the same about my most recent appointment. My long blonde hair was well past my waist line. I was expecting 4-5 inches off as I haven't had a cut in about 2 years. Roughly 12 inches of my hair was cut off (not an exaggeration), and now my hair barely covers my chest area. I have never dyed my hair but am now considering it because I just can't accept this hair cut. I know I probably sound dramatic but I literally cried the following day because I was not prepared to have this much of my hair gone. I wanted long hair with short layers, not short hair with long layers. At the end of the cut she said, "much more manageable!," although I never mentioned that I couldn't manage it. Also, "2 years without a professional haircut," or "its because it was so long," did not seem like a valid excuse to me when I said that it was way shorter than I wanted. I hate to give isalon one star because everyone is so nice and she definitely took her time with the cut, but it is the only way I can express how I feel about my hair. I'm a regular with my hair and now my nails. The woman who does nails is very sweet, gives a great foot/leg massage, and the price for a pedicure is quite reasonable. I only have two suggestions: (1) get better lighting for the nail room...it is too bright; and (2) encourage hair stylists to get better with scheduling. I've had to sit and wait several times. I want to thank Brenda for fitting me in after my regular hairdresser left the salon. I've been a customer for many years and went out of my way to tip employees heavily once they reopened after the pandemic closure because I wanted to take care of people. I was fairly disappointed when I was told I would have to wait over a month for an appointment, but was pleased when they found an open appointment for me a few weeks earlier. For 1/2 the haircut I was repetitively told that it was the owners day off and when my hair cut was rung up the normal haircut which was 60 was now 90. If you didn't want my business then you shouldn't have squeezed me in on your day off and someone should have mentioned that the costs would have increased by 50%x. Updated review! I've had 3 or 4 services here before having an appointment with Ashley P. yesterday. Services were running a little behind so they called me to let me know and to ask if I could come later. Notice appreciated. Ashley gave an excellent head massage while shampooing my hair. It was that time of the year, summer is approaching, my previous highlights had outgrown and I wanted to go a few shades lighter. After searching for salons around my area, I found iSalon through Yelp. I was intrigued by the before/after pictures and raving reviews and decided to book my appointment with Betty online asking for an ashy brown ombre. I received my online confirmation the day after and the night before the appointment I received a phone call from iSalon confirming again. The day of the appointment I arrived early and was greeted by the receptionist. She offered water and an iPad while I waited. She then tells me that Betty is running late and will be in about 30 mins. My scheduled time was at 1:00pm but Betty didn't come in and take me in until 2:00pm. Although she apologized, I became a little eh due to the 1hr wait. During the consultation, she asked me if I still wanted an ashy brown ombre. I showed her pictures and the color of how I wanted my hair to look and instead wanted a natural balayage ombre. I told her I did not want the color to be brassy or orangy but an ashy light brown. The entire process took 3hrs and in the end I was not happy with my results. The ombre didn't look natural. 1/4 of my hair was still black while the rest was orange. The overall damage was $145 including a 20% discount and tips. I came home and my friends/family were also not amazed by my hair. I phoned the next day to rescheduled an appointment since their website offers 100% guarantee on all services within 7 days. I was promptly greeted and taken in on time with Lynn. I told her what I didn't like about my hair and showed her the same pictures/color of what I wanted. The color correcting process took 1hr. During the blow-drying step, Lynn asked if the color she achieved was what I wanted and she nailed it. Jessie helped styled my hair while Lynn had to go to her other client. I enjoyed talking to both Lynn and Jessie and were both very knowledgeable on how to maintain and care for my new haircolor. iSalon did not charge me again, but I couldn't leave without tipping Lynn for color correcting my hair. For any potential clients: Lynn is great at achieving the ombre look. Although I left satisfied the second-time, I think I will stick to my original salon I've been going to. I came in before 11 (my appt time) and as soon as I opened the door, this lady greeted me with all smiles and soon, two ladies chimed in. They all offered me water, coffee, or tea. (The first person that greeted turned out to be the owner, Brenda and the other two were the receptionist and the assistants.) It's been almost two months since I got my haircut. I was letting it grow out before I ridiculed the style. I've been patient and no matter what I do, my hair won't cooperate, even when I curl it. After my mom came here for a haircut which looked pretty good I decided to give it a shot. I usually go to Seven Salon in Oakland but it's pretty pricey. This is much closer to my house and just as chic. One afternoon I decided that it was time for a haircut so I walked in without an appointment and ended up with Sandra who did my cut. She's was very nice but I was not as satisfied with my cut. I asked for lots of layers from the top because my hair is really thin and flat so I needed those layers for volume but I ended up with a cut that was good but not as layered as I wanted. It's been about a little over a month and my hair already needs a cut. The cut that I got quickly lost it's shape so I'm going back tomorrow to see Tracy this time and get a bang trim, maybe a full cut, I haven't decided yet but hopefully I won't be disappointed again. I have had my hair styled by some of the top salons in San Francisco and Marin and I can tell you Brenda is as good as any of them. And for half the price you would pay in the city! She stays current, she is stylish and funky herself, and she pays attention to what you want done.
