Salon Maison artists did absolutely beautiful work on my and my bridesmaids and mothers' hair and makeup for my wedding. They truly took the time to create the looks we were hoping for and were responsive to our wishes, incorporating them into their creations and even redoing as necessary. I felt very comfortable in their hands after the pre-session appointment and on the wedding day. I highly recommend them!! read more

Update: I was able to connect with someone new at Salon Maison and she has been incredibly helpful. All I wanted was some communication and responses to my questions and so far she has made me feel a lot more confident in my decision to work with them. Update #2: On the day of my wedding, my hair and makeup looked great but they weren't able to get my bridesmaid's hair quite right and one of them ended up redoing hers herself. Meh. For my wedding practice day, I had an appointment where I had expected to swan in, be handed a glass of champagne and ushered into the styling chair. Instead, I waited for ages in a waiting room (with no seats...oh sorry, make that one chaise lounge that was taken up by a random teenager) only to discover, from the snootiest woman ever, that they had lost my appointment. Once my appointment was eventually found, I was offered a shitty plastic cup of water, a half assed apology, and sat down in a janky side room. My stylist was very nice, but looked directly at my sample picture and proceeded to do my hair in a completely different way. After trying to explain that I wanted like the picture, twice, I came away with something......ok....but not like the picture, and my time was up. It's nice that they come to your house (or wherever) on the wedding day, and my stylist was kind and flexible, she did my Mom's hair even though we didn't have that scheduled (we paid full price for it of course, but the flexibility was still nice.) On the wedding day, we had the same hair issues, and I ultimately wasn't happy with it. She did my makeup as well, which we didn't have a practice session for, but I had a picture....which again was completely ignored. I'd never recommend this place, for weddings or blowouts or anything. The prices are outrageous for a level of service that's sub par. read more

I am writing this review to warn other brides of the issues I experienced. Like many other reviewers, I was dazed by their award-winning stats and high reviews on The Knot and Yelp. However, after 3 months of trying to make this work, I have given up. Based upon the response from Mary, who I believe maybe the owner (she never has given a title, just sends the emails), they do not care about my little wedding, in her words - "we always book up and turn away many weddings". Without getting into my long saga of woe, here are is a brief summary of my issues and concerns with Salon Maison to give other brides some pause before deciding to contact this company. 1. No real contract until deposit is received - When I asked about getting a contract, I was told we will send you a sample contract, you have a week from this date to organize a deposit and contract. The definition for sample is ' A portion, piece, or segment that is representative of a whole'. Thus, a sample contract is not the real contract. When I asked Mary for a real contract before making a deposit she said " I have sent you a sample contract already. You must make a deposit then we will send you a contract to sign.". She refused to send me a real contract which screams business practice concerns for me and my fiancee, who negotiates contracts for a living. This raises red flags which organizations such as the Better Business Bureau warn against. By paying a deposit you are agreeing to their terms without seeing their real contract. Why would anyone ever commit to spending a considerable amount of money without seeing the actual real contract first. To add increased concern to this companies business practices, I reviewed the very hard to read sample contract to find that they had sneaked in a minimum bridal party amount for the date of my wedding, even though I had confirmed verbally with 2 people that there was no minimum. When I contacted Mary of the issue and my growing lack of trust in their services, she abruptly said 'thank you for letting me know you will not met the minimum. Let us know if this changes. You spoke with our receptionist who is not trained to answer these complex questions. ' Well its time to train your stylist too. She never even addressed my contract concerns. 2. No Stylist Guarantee - You are not provided the name of your stylist until nearly 3 months prior to your wedding date. I was assured all stylists are trained in the same manner, but I have seen and heard mixed reviews regarding different stylists and was not allowed to get a day of wedding and trial stylist guarantee, regardless that I was booking over a year before my wedding date. Also, based upon the issue that the owner has not trained her receptionist on a basic FAQ regarding wedding date minimums, how can I be assured she has trained all her staff consistently on hair and make-up. 3. Communication - During the initial discussion phase, every email was responded with'someone will call you'. Firstly, I played phone tag for 2 weeks with one of their stylists where I left message after message with no call back until I called their office in frustration, spoke with a receptionist who got the stylist to call me. Secondly, by having a business model where there is nothing put in writing during the 'discussion phase', the client has no recourse when you are told incorrect information. Mary blamed her receptionist for not being trained to answer a basic question of minimum's for my wedding day. I am sorry, but it is not your receptionist fault, its yours for not training her. I personally lose credibility with companies who willingly hide behind their staff's inefficiencies when they should be training them. Thirdly - Mary's correspondence tone is abrupt and scolding. She is not willing to work with you, or answer your individual concerns. Its her way or the highway. I hope this posting helps other brides go into discussions with this company aware of their business and operating practices. read more

I really really wanted to like Salon Maison. They came highly recommended on all the wedding sites and it felt like a slam dunk. Booking them and scheduling appointments was easy which was nice but things started to go south at the hair trial. The two ladies arrived at my house and it was very clear from their interactions that one was in charge and the other WAS NOT. The Lady In Charge bossed the other around to the point that I felt sorry for her and kept sending her sympathetic glances. The hair at the trial looked ok. The make up was great. Then the wedding day. They arrived on time and had me, 3 bridesmaids, and 3 moms to get through. Our ceremony was at 5:30 and they arrived around 10am. Plenty of time considering there were two of them. However, we all felt so rushed! The Lady In Charge hardly smiled at all and the fun girly beauty atmosphere I was hoping for was sorta ruined. Then the Lady In Charge did my hair and I really really didn't like it. I asked for a small modification (making the part less severe and a little less volume at the crown) and she told me that it couldn't be done. Huh? Had I not been so stressed out, I would have asked again but I felt so defeated by the whole experience that I just said 'ok' and moved on. It's just hair, right? I regret that now. Every time I look at my wedding photos, I cringe at my hair. It wasn't at all what I wanted and that makes me sad. I have great hair and the wedding felt like a time to really show it off. For the price I paid, I was hoping for a truly A+ experience but what I got was weird internal dynamics between the stylists and hair that still makes me cringe almost a year later. Ladies...if you can...go to Swink! I've had wonderful experiences there. read more

I recently got married and used Salon Maison for my reception hair/makeup as well as for my mother and mother-in-law. I live out of state and was extremely nervous about booking with a company with mixed reviews and such a wide variety of stylists, especially when I would not have time for a trial. However, a friend who had also used them for her wedding and loved them, highly recommended them so I bit the bullet and signed the contract. Pros: 1. Very fast. Three girls arrived at our hotel, the main one who I worked with was Madison. These girls were no nonsense and got straight to work-- which was great because we were able to finish everything with time to spare, so that I could relax for a few minutes before the reception :) 2. Good technical skills: she created a look based on a few pictures I showed her right before we started, and as we were going along, she was very open about making constructive changes with me and talking through what would work, what I liked/didn't like. 3. Professional: all three of the girls (sorry I don't remember the name of the other two who came to work on the moms) were very polite, efficient, and technically skilled. Even my mom, who doesn't even let me put mascara on her (me, her own daughter) ended up LOVING the look (both hair and makeup) that the girls did for her. Mainly, this was because they listened to us and were able to work with us instead of just doing what they thought would look good. 4. Affordable. We actually had our wedding and a separate reception in my hometown (not Seattle) where my hair/makeup people were great, but probably about 5 times more expensive. This definitely felt like a lot of bang for my bucks. Cons: 1. Difficult to reach a real person to talk to-- played a lot of phone tag. 2. The secretarial staff and inital people I spoke to and emailed with were a bit pushy in terms of "are you going to book with us now," "send us your money now." I initially got the feeling they just wanted my money and was actually really nervous about working with them. Thankfully, I was worrying for nothing and ended up really appreciating their work. whew! Also- Salon Maison has no idea I'm writing this, I get nothing from them for sharing. I was just so nervous and anxious after I booked that I wanted to share my positive experience for the future brides :) read more

I hired Salon Maison for my wedding, and their customer service was awful. Once they got the contract and money, I could not get a hold of them. It would take several emails and phone calls to get a response to schedule the pre-wedding make up session or discuss any concerns/things I wanted. They didn't provide a correct estimate for what we asked for initially and then tacked on costs once it was too late for to change to another company. It was to the point that our wedding planner had to intervene. Do not recommend them. read more

I had the SM team style my wedding party and myself in July. I had a pre consult and i don't feel like they listened to me. I looked very natural, but i could have easily achieved that look myself. When they gave me my "custom color" for my lips to go pick out at Nordstrom's from the Mac counter, the Mac employees told me that this salon gives EVERYONE that color it was the standardized color that they gave people. That really angered me. Its not cheap and they want additional tips the day of the wedding. Not that impressed. read more

I used Salon Maison for my wedding hair and make-up. One of the best parts is that they come to you for their services. I had a practice session at my home 3 weeks before my wedding. Amy was my stylist, and she was great! I loved the subtle but enhancing make-up. She told me what lip liner and gloss she used, so I could get some ahead of time for touch-ups on my wedding day. She looked at pictures of what I wanted and then started working. We practiced two hair looks, took pictures, and I decided by my wedding day which one to go with. She also did my bridesmaid's hair and make-up on the wedding day and it looked great too. I was shocked that my hair and make-up didn't budge, lasting from 11AM to 11PM. I normally become shiny at my t-zone but that wasn't the case this time. I also cried during the ceremony but my make-up didn't care and you couldn't tell. Excellent, exceeded expectations! not cheap, but definitely worth it. Salon Maison provided me, my maid of honor and my mom with hair and makeup on my wedding day (May 2012) at the hotel where my wedding took place. They were fantastic, professional, efficient and sweet :) I loved that they made us look like better versions of ourselves, not crazily, heavily made-up. The two ladies who helped us were great about asking about our preferences and advising on what types of products and colors they recommended. During the trial run a couple of weeks prior, they took care to tell us the specific lip products they used so we could buy them in advance and have them ready for touch-ups during the wedding day. They did my hair, 4 bridesmaids, my MIL and my mother for my wedding. 3 of my 4 brides had great hair... to start with, anyway. One of them had a hair meltdown mid-wedding and it turned into a tangled mess. Poor girl. The 4th had awful hair to begin with, but didn't have the heart to say anything. She had a very short hairstyle so she asked the stylist for suggestions (that is their job, right? We aren't professionals!) and what she came up with was horrifying...just plain ugly. My MIL and mother's hair was phenomenal, which is why I'm giving two stars. My hair, however, was not at all what I wanted. I brought in several pictures of similar styles and asked for input from the stylist about which would suit me best, but it was clear that she did not listen to my hopes for my hair. It didn't hold, and the staying spray they used left a gray film on my dark hair. I let them know that the trial run did not go well, that the style did not stay and the many concerns that I had. They scheduled for a second trial run (which, of all the negative things I have to say, I was grateful for a second chance!) but that didn't go any better. My curls wouldn't stay, even after I did EVERYTHING they recommended, including cutting my hair (they thought that since it was so long, it was too heavy...) Then the wedding day happened and my hair was so bad. I stylist even left my hairpiece in crooked until another stylist said something right before they were leaving! Really? You were going to let me walk down the aisle with crooked hair? Thanks... After she left, I looked at my hair and there were stray hairs mucking up the curls everywhere. What the heck? I definitely wasted my money. One of my maids ran after her, she came back, attempted to fix it, but it did little to fix a pretty bad situation. My hair fell out before pictures ended and my MOH recurled my hair before I walked down the aisle...What a freaking nightmare. It looks plain awful in my pictures. I would not recommend these guys for the price they charge. I am sure you can get much better results going elsewhere. Also, I had them do all of our makeup and...long story short, that didn't go well either. She forgot my eyelashes and to put mascara on me. When she was "finished," I had to request mascara. Ugh. AND, when paying so much, I expected a little extra touch up lipstick...nope. I spent an extra $50 per recommendation from the makeup artist to have the same colors from MAC so I could retouch later. I was very pleased with the on-site hair and makeup services I received from Salon Maison for my wedding. Christine was my personal stylist and did a fantastic job at my pre-wedding consult. She worked with me on a number of different makeup looks until we found the perfect style. She also did a great job of incorporating my veil into the classic French twist hairstyle I wanted. On the wedding day Christine and her assistant arrived at my hotel promptly and cheerily at 6 am and had me and my four bridesmaids dolled up with time to spare for my 10:30 am wedding ceremony. Salon Maison was incredibly flexible and responsive, and I was impressed that they were able to work my wedding despite the fact that I had contacted them only a few weeks before my wedding. Every time I look at my wedding pictures I am grateful for how beautiful Salon Maison made my bridesmaids and me! I would recommend Salon Maison to other brides. read more

After a great deal of research and asking others for recommendations I chose Salon Maison for hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids and am so happy that I did. Not only were they incredibly responsive with my questions, but my entire experience from start to finish was fabulous. It was easy to schedule time for my hair and makeup trial and I never felt rushed or like I couldn't ask questions or give feedback. When it came to the day of the wedding they arrived a little early which was wonderful (and yes, they come to you!!!), and were a pleasure to work with. Our wedding was on March 31, 2011. Angela and Carla were the perfect pair for our day. They did an awesome job on each of us. Angela took care of me and Carla took care of the girls. They arrived on time and looked and acted professional. We couldn't ask for a more profession duo of hair and makeup artists. They truly know what they are doing and make sure that you get the look that you want. My sister wanted heavier makeup than what I wanted her to have and they totally listened to me and gave her what I wanted for my day; without question. Don't be discouraged by their prices. They might be a little high for some; however, you get exactly what you want and they come to you. When they do your trial, they do as many do-overs as you want, until they get it exactly what you want at no additional charge. Salon Maison did hair and makeup for myself (bride) and my four bridesmaids. They were courteous, finished on schedule, and did a great job. I danced for hours and cried more than once and all of my bridesmaids commented how I still looked EXACTLY like I had in the morning when they'd finished with me. I took my hair down at about midnight (they'd done it at around 11am) and only one small piece had fallen out. We were home at about 2am that night, at which point I had managed to sweat off some of my makeup, but I couldn't believe how well everything had held. Would absolutely recommend them! read more

I had the most amazing experience with Salon Maison twice in one year! Both my sister and I got married in 2012 so I had their help from both a bridesmaid perspective as well as the bride. We had an amazing morning for my sister's wedding and there were 4 ladies who came out to help 6 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, 1 Nana and the bride get ready in 3 hours. We had hair and makeup that held throughout the day (and through the tears) and into the night and looked amazing the whole time. Heidi was the lead for her wedding as well as my own and I cannot say enough positive things about her. For my own wedding experience, the trial was great. We were able to figure out a hair style that was completely in line with the style of wedding I wanted - romantic and more traditional, but not stiff. My makeup was done with a skilled hand and lasted throughout the evening. Heidi and the other ladies are talented, professional, caring, and efficient! My hair is very long and very straight. It doesn't hold curl at all and I wanted curls for my wedding day. The curls in my first pre-session fell flat so, Heidi gave me a list of products to use in my hair and another complementary pre-session. The second pre-session was fabulous. I followed all of her instructions and my curls lasted for hours. The day of the wedding, the curls and makeup were unchanged throughout the day even through hugging and greeting guests. She helped me artistically arrange my hair piece so that it accented my hair style and added false eye lashes for an elegant touch. She addressed my concerns, made a masterpiece out of my hair and the false eyelashes that made my eyes look amazing. It was everything I was hoping for and more. I cannot express how happy I was with my hair and make-up for my wedding day. Brianna did such an amazing job, I never imaged I would look as good as I did on my wedding day and I got so many compliments on how stunning and beautiful I looked. All 8 of my bridesmaids got their hair done and they all looked so beautiful. They were right on time for the wedding day and went through all the girls and my mom on time and to make it even better, they came to US! I can't even tell you how helpful that was. It's really hard to believe these other reviews because I experienced nothing like what they said. Yes, it is expensive but it's honestly not like it's much cheaper anywhere else in the Seattle area and like I said, THEY COME TO YOU! If you are able to make it work, go to the Seattle Bridal Show, they offer great discounts that make it more affordable. Just like everything with weddings, vendors book up so it shouldn't come as a shock if they are already booked for your wedding date that's why you want to book early enough to make sure you reserve your spot. I contacted Salon Maison to do hair and makeup for my 8/21/14 wedding because I didn't want to be running to another location on my wedding day just for hair and makeup, especially that early in the morning. I booked my maid of honor and mother-in-laws hair and makeup and my sister-in-laws hair months out from the wedding. Then the bridesmaid who was going to do my hair and makeup was unable to attend the wedding so I had to add myself to our Salon Maison contract. This was no problem for them. I booked my trials for 2 weeks before our wedding and was worried because I'd been growing out my pixie cut for months and had no idea how long my hair would be. My trial went very smoothly. My hair and makeup looked amazing. I was very excited about our wedding day. The two women from Salon Maison (I'm blanking on their names now...I'm so sorry!!!) arrive at my hotel room at 6am on our wedding day. They were cheerful and ready to go. They did all our hair and makeup according to the contract and did a great job making sure my bridesmaids and mother-in-law each got a look they wanted and were happy with. My hair had grown quite a bit in just the two weeks since my trial, but my stylist did an incredible job and it looked amazing. We had some extra time and my mother was so impressed that we didn't all look like plastic barbie dolls (a HUGE concern when getting makeup done professionally) that she asked if they could squeeze in time to do her makeup as well. They did. Then my sister-in-law asked for the same. They did. They were so accommodating and did a great job making each of these beautiful ladies look like even more beautiful, without it being overdone. Bonus: the next morning my hair and makeup were still pretty much in place (even though I took out all the bobbypins the night before!), so I just put some pins back in to make it a little less slept on and looked awesome for a second day! My sister didn't take her bobbypins out the night of the wedding and her hair and makeup also looked awesome the second day! I highly recommend Salon Maison. read more

I was very happy with Salon Maison's services the day of my wedding. I had my hair and make-up done along with my three bridesmaids and two mothers. My hair and make-up looked just like it did during the trial run and lasted the entire day. I felt beautiful. Their on-location services are very convienent and worth the price. My bridesmaids and mothers looked wonderful and were happy with their services. I have to agree with other reviewers though about the stylists/make-up artists not being able/willing to make suggestions for those who were unsure about what they wanted or what would look best for their hair/skin type. They showed up on time and started setting up immediately. They were very profession and since I didn't quite know what I wanted, they helped me to find the best look. I had Salon Maison for my hair/makeup on my wedding day, and it was a great experience. I chose them because I needed a vendor who would be able to travel to me, because I had such a hectic day and wouldn't be able to deal with traffic - this convenience made the price worth it to me. They were pleasant, professional, and open to my ideas. For my hair/makeup trial, I was able to try a few different looks (I wanted both an updo for my Vietnamese wedding ceremony and then change to having my hair down for the evening ceremony). On the actual wedding day, they were punctual and efficient, and listened to my mom and sisters' concerns and comments as they were getting their hair and makeup done. For my hairstyle switch in the afternoon, Salon Maison was able to change my hair from an updo to a sideswept curls look in a short amount of time. I ended up loving my hair and makeup, and both hair and makeup lasted through the night with no touch-ups required! read more

Salon Maison and Brianna were AMAZING!!! They made me feel beautiful on my wedding day. I'm normally a low-frills person and don't wear any makeup, so I wanted to feel comfortable, natural, and like myself -- but also a dressed-up version. I showed Brianna a few photos for inspiration, and she did a fantastic job with my hair and makeup! I picked a romantic, low up-do (with 16" hair extensions, since I only have chin-length hair and hair gets even shorter when it's curled -- I highly recommend the Halo extensions! They're much less expensive than traditional ones and were extremely comfortable) and a dewy, glowing, natural makeup look. I couldn't be more delighted at Brianna's work, and how beautiful she made my mother, mother in law, and bridesmaids look! She went above and beyond to make everyone happy, and has a wonderful comforting, calm energy. I was so nervous on the day of the wedding that I meditated during the 2 hours of hair and makeup, and while others might have found it weird, she totally understood :) And during the trial, she worked so hard to make each detail lovely and perfect. My trial ended up being almost 3 hours, and my Mom and I left elated. As a low maintenance person who is used to not wearing makeup, I will always remember how Brianna's amazing makeup and hair made me feel happy & confident on my wedding day. The bridal party all looked lovely, but the greatest transformation was what Heidi and Rose accomplished for me as mother of the bride. I intended to skip makeup and have my hair simply flat ironed, but coworkers convinced me to have makeup done as well, and I'm so glad they did! And Heidi convinced me to have my hair braided in the back and pulled over to one side to match the style of my dress, which was like an ancient Greek gown. The effect of both the hair and makeup was amazing! Guests oohed and aahed and several said I looked like I was in my 20's (I'm 52!) I don't know what Heidi and Rose did that was so different from my usual makeup routine (the hair was clearly different), but based on guests' reactions, the transformation was spectacular, and what they did made all the difference in the world to how I felt and was a huge confidence builder. I know the bride is the star of the show, which is how it should be, but the MOB is a big role too, and it made me feel good to look good!
