When I expressed my concerns to the makeup artist and asked for a re-preview, she said I would need to PAY for another preview. I said I didn't feel I should need to pay for something I was unsatisfied with. I then contacted the owner to express my experience with her company, who called me and said things like "you have hardly any eyebrows to begin with, so what she did looked good" "I thought you had great coverage" "the eyelashes look fine" not once ever mentioning what an awful experience I had with the girl and not to mention the fact that she THEN said it was all my fault cause I moved. Oh sorry that it took you over two months to send me a contract from when I paid my deposit for your services, in which time I moved. I paid 200.00 for the worst experience of my life. When I told her I wanted a refund her response was "for services we provided?" I said, the preview is 150, I paid your company 312.00 her response "well 150 for the preview, 50 for the travel and I guess 100 was a deposit" I asked her to send me something in writing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PERSON EVER. After I left this same review on several of her social media posts, she blocked me...only before she responded immaturely and told me I would NOT be receiving a refund. Don't be salty girl. I told her early on that I prefer a very natural look and don't feel comfortable in heavy makeup -- and she absolutely delivered. My makeup felt light, effortless, and still completely me... just elevated. It was more beautiful than my daily look, but never overdone. I especially loved what she did with my eyes and lashes. They looked soft and natural, yet defined and stunning in photos. And my hair -- this was huge for me. I don't have a lot of hair and I didn't want to wear a wig on my wedding day. She respected that completely and somehow created beautiful, natural-looking volume that made me feel confident and radiant. I was honestly amazed at what she was able to do. She was also so open to feedback and small adjustments throughout the process, which made me feel really heard and comfortable. The main reason I did not go forward with booking with her was because of the haphazard nature of the hair part of the trial. Vian did not part my hair, comb my hair, or use hairspray, and just draped the headpiece on instead of tying it to the hair. She told me the trial is to only get an "idea" of what the hair would look like and made me undo the hairstyle after getting pics so she could get the hair piece and pins back. I was pretty stunned because I paid almost double to include hair in the trial rather than just makeup, so I was expecting to get more than just an "idea", I wanted to see how the hairstyle would stay throughout the day. The end result was messy hair (attached a photo) and my sister who was watching commented after that she could have done a better job. In addition, Vian told me I needed to get a haircut for curtain bangs before the wedding in order for the hairstyle to work. This felt like an excuse, I'd expect her to work with the hair I have and make the best hairstyle possible, not fault me for it not looking good. Afterwards I had a hair and makeup trial with a different artist for the exact same price. At this one, I got a full hairstyle with combing, hairspray, pins that stayed on for the full day and I wasn't told that I needed to cut my hair, and it looked much better. I ended up proceeding with booking this person for the wedding instead. For the makeup, later that day I noticed that there was a smudge on my eyebrow. I checked photos and it was there in the very first photo my sister took of me after the trial was completed. I was surprised Vian didn't notice and fix this and this made me question her makeup skills as well. Style wise the makeup didn't match what I had on my Pinterest board that I showed her -- those had softer, lighter colors but I was given a darker, higher contrast look. To be fair, she asked what lip color I wanted and I told her she could choose because I didn't know (not experienced with makeup). However, the second makeup artist was so much more thorough -- she looked through my Pinterest board and asked things like, "these are all warm toned but this one is cool toned -- do you want warm or cool toned" and was able to distinguish what I liked from that, and I ended up with a look I was much happier with. Perhaps Vian would work better for someone who has a strong idea of what they're looking for, versus someone completely new to makeup (me).

Megan made me, my mom, and my MIL look fantastic for my wedding day-- she knows how to handle Asian and Caucasian makeup with ease, flattering our features and really making sure the makeup shone through in the photography as well. Between the trial and the day-of, I changed my mind about my hair style and accidentally got a botched brow wax a little too close to the wedding, and she handled both of those with ease and flexibility on the day of the wedding. Megan is professional, friendly, has a great sense of humor, and was willing to wake up incredibly early (she arrived at 5:15 am) to do our makeup and hair. She even managed to finish everyone's makeup and hair about a half hour to an hour ahead of time, which, as a type-A bride, I was extremely grateful for. She uses high-quality products and my makeup basically lasted the entire day. I also found her pricing to be extremely fair-- no "early morning" fees or other hidden expenses, too. Hire her! She books trials too close to the date, so when the trial went sideways, I had to add a to do to the busy planning, which wasn't ideal. Kendra seems to have a one size fits all approach to makeup, and she doesn't listen. She has a heavy handed approach to application (see her instagram). She is condescending and makes little snide comments that are little biting insults. When I mentioned that my eyebrows were way too dark and overdone, her response "eyebrows are a non-negotiable"... umm, wth is that about? Anyway, upon calling other artists, it seems that Kendra has quite the reputation with her peers. They've heard my story from other folks that have attempted to work with Kendra. Recently, Kendra has announced that she is "mostly" retiring from makeup application, but beware that she is still hiring out makeup artists under her KLS business. There are numerous other capable professionals in the area, and I would highly recommend looking to them if you have any interest in natural and flattering makeup. I gave kendra the opportunity to make this right with a partial refund, which she chose to ignore.
