I wanted to dye my hair here and decided not to after my consultation. Like the owner here likes to say, "the vibes were off". I walked into the salon and I don't know if it's because I don't fit the look of the clients here, but the owner stops talking to the client she was working on and stares me up and down and lets me just stand there looking lost because I wasn't sure where I was supposed to wait to meet with Kelsey. It's a tiny salon too so she was just staring directly up and down at me like a weirdo and doesn't say a word to me, then continues to talk to her client. I eventually peeked in the other room to see if Kelsey was there and she seemed nice and asked me to have a seat and give her few minutes. Personally I think customer service goes a long way, long enough for me to decide where I will and won't spend a few hundred dollars. The owner seems full of it so this review is mostly for others who feel customer service is important (especially when you're paying for it!). As a Latina, it's exhausting trying to find good businesses that are not pretentious and snobby in the South Bay. As it is, I already feel out of place in RPV, it's apparent the owner wants only a specific type of clientele, just read her responses on the one star reviews here. As for Kelsey, she seems sweet and the only thing that made me realize I wasn't coming back, was when she told me she would text me later that day to send me photos of ideas she had for my hair and she never did. After a week of not getting a red, I realized I just didn't get a good vibe. Like many others I can't review the services because my appointment got so screwed up. I reached out to Tammy to book an appointment. She gave me a time with Kelsey. I immediately responded it would work perfectly. The next day Tammy said, oops, that's already taken, here are so other times. So I booked for today and she said I was confirmed. I get up at 6:30am on a Saturday, drive 35 minutes, and get to the salon. Kelsey, the person who's supposed to cut my hair, asks me if I'm someone else. Nope. I'm me. They booked me at the wrong time. They booked me for FRIDAY the next week. Not even the right day of the week. Granted, I did get a text confirming my appointment and it was sent through for the time I didn't book but I get so many texts. I didn't pay enough attention. I'll take responsibility for that but come on. I expect people to be able to book an appointment. I'm guessing the other person also got booked for the wrong time and won't show up. But who knows. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. First, when I called to ask about pricing, Tammy, the owner, was so kind and helpful. She talked with me for a while about my hair type and who would be the best person to work on it. Kelsey worked on my hair and she is the sweetest person. She put a lot of time and care into my hair, and was so much fun to talk to. The whole experience was a joy. And MY HAIR HAS NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD. When she finished, I couldn't believe my eyes. My hair is very very thick, wavy and frizzy, so usually pretty hard to work with. But Kelsey is a wizard. She cut it to the perfect length, and texturized it so it wouldn't be so poofy. A lot of people told me not to get bangs, but I decided, eh why not? Wow am I glad I did. And wow am I glad I went to Kelsey. She cut it to the perfect length and shape. And! She does complementary fringe trims, so if there's anything I want fixed with them, like if I want the bangs thicker, I can stop by! Also I really appreciated that they didn't push me to buy hair products despite me not knowing anything about fringe care. They recommended a product and gave me a sample in a container so I could try it out and come back if I like it! And they gave me great advice with hair care. Owner screened me as to whether I had the right "energy" for her salon. Needless to say I self screened a big NO.

I called to schedule an appointment after a friend recommended Tammy to me. I called and spoke w/Tammy to schedule an appointment. She was so kind and energetic even on the phone- I felt comfortable from the start. She asked me about my hair, what I was looking for and she said she would schedule me with Kelsey. She told me I would love her & I absolutely did. As soon as I walked in the door she made me feel welcome. She was also super attentive as to what I wanted. On top of that, she was a riot to chat with while she worked. She cut my hair with minimal direction and made it look so cute! Even though not scheduled when I booked my appointment, she took extra time to wax and tint my eyebrows. You can tell she is passionate for her work and it shows. This place is fantastic. I don't normally go to fancy salons. I'm really more of a major chain haircut guy, and only when somebody makes me go, but I'm a total convert now. Tammy is some sort of wizard with scissors, and my hair looks better than it ever has. If I had a complaint it would probably be that I'm TOO sexy now. My wife thinks I got my hair cut this way so I can run off with some kind of bikini model or actress, and it took me an hour to convince her that I just want to look good so I can feel good about myself and bring that positive energy into our relationship. Found this salon on yelp while looking for a good place for a blow dry and style. They were extremely accommodating and fit two of us on Sunday afternoon. Sara was very friendly and spent a lot of time on my hair. I was happy with the final product but I did find it to be a bit pricy. $135 for a blowout and a blowout w/style seems a bit high. If I could give this place ten stars, I would. I'd gone looking for a new salon after my previous stylist moved to a different part of town, and came upon this place. Let me just say, that first time...I walked out and I LOVED my haircut. I didn't want to change a thing. Now, I can't imagine going to anyone else-for cut or color. She's a genius and just an amazing person in general. I literally sit down and say "I trust you, do as you please!" and am happy every single time. Also, all 3 girls in there-Brenda, Nicole, and Maria- were Tammy's assistants at one point before becoming stylists on their own. Each girl is VERY talented...and can give a pretty mean neck massage. Susie does the best gel manicure in the south bay! My mother has been going to her for YEARS, and I jump on the wagon every now and then. I have a black to green balayage, I definitely recommend scheduling an appointment with Brenda if you have or want a non traditional hair color. I came into Salon Lucid for the first time this week. Just want to drop a note here about how pleased I am with my experience with Sara! I've lived in Redondo my whole life but I've struggled to find a stylist who makes me feel comfortable, takes the time to have a real consultation with me before cutting away, and whose work feels "worth it" to me for the area's high prices. But Sara was wonderful--she truly took her time to understand the style I wanted and I felt so pampered by the end! My long hair went from dull and heavy to having beautiful layers and movement, and it was so smooth and shiny! At the end I also found out the price would be discounted because I was a first time customer, which was such a pleasant surprise! I've never left a salon thinking "I'll definitely come back to her! I love her!" but that's how I felt after this experience. Ran right home to recommend her to my mom and a good friend. I also appreciated that she informed me about the products she used and gave me samples to take home rather than pressuring me to buy anything on the spot. I'll list my top 4 1) A super clean and well run salon by owner Tammy & her husband and salon staff. 2) So an appointment was quite easy with their online system & the pricing is all laid out before you confirm. 3) EVERYONE in the salon is friendly. That is important because it your are at the wash bowl getting a moisture treatment-convo is a great thing as you are looking up @ the ceiling. 4) I am a gal with a TON of hair, Tammy knew what to do - and how to work with it.
