I initially came here based on the results I saw on my friends. I got a few hair cuts but I was still afraid of getting my hair dyed because I didn't think it was going to get to what I really wanted. (Darker to Blonde/Silver/Platinum color) Yesterday I took a leap of faith and got Maye to dye my hair, I got to be honest, I lowered my expectations and was prepared for getting something not quite to what I was looking for, I prepared with patience thinking that if I wouldn't get it this time at least on the next one... but let me just say her work exceeded my expectations!!! I got EXACTLY what I was looking for!!! My advice is don't lower your expectations and just trust Maye, she knows what she's doing! Thank you Maye and all the girls at the salon which by the way are all very nice! read more

Yesterday I had an amazing experience. Usually when I go into a salon, hair stylists refuse to cut my long hair.. But I wanted a change and I'm glad I got it! It's been ten years since I've felt bold enough to go above my shoulders and it was the confidence of the women that I was able to still feel confident in deciding to go short. Along with cutting off ten inches, I got a wonderful, relaxing, very informative facial by Cynthia. I not only learned about the different products being put on my face, I became so relaxed towards the end that I dozed off for a bit. So nice.. To just be pampered. I felt so spoiled yesterday. I wish I remembered all their names but I think it's safe to say all the ladies at etcetera salon made me feel special in their own way. It's rare when i get treatment like I did. I will be seeing them again in the future. Also a big thanks to my mom for the gift card! What a surprising treat! read more

SALON WAS A CHAOTIC PLACE WITH NO ONE MANAGING THE RECEPTION or greeting guests. I had to tell them it was my first time and would need to fill a form with my information. THEN NO SHOW BY CYNTHIA FOR FACIAL APPOINTMENT. After accepting the appointment, personally calling me few days earlier to confirm the appointment and asking me to come at earlier time, she was no show. Reception told me to take a seat as she was running late. I waited 20mins before leaving. read more

in response to Mayes comment: I only posted my honest opinion, sorry you have issue with it. I just try to be honest with every post I make. And sure, not everyone will agree with me. But just so you know, there is a REASON they filter out all those reviews! You may want to "strive" a little harder. read more

Just called after finding out they now carry Oribe products. Megan chatted with me about the product I was interested in & made sure they had it in stock. Maybe I'll have time to actually have my hair done here, as the reviews I read are quite positive. Glad I found this place, as I'd much rather buy from an authorized salon than online. read more

Maye colored and cut my hair, and I have never loved it more. Why did it take me 39 years to find such a great place??!! Maye will often ask me how I style my hair. This helps her to shape and cut my hair for my style. Because of this, I can actually achieve salon hair at home - thanks, Maye!! And when changing my look, Maye will also suggest colors and cuts that compliment my skin and shape of my face. I tend to have a conservative appearance, but appreciate an updated "do". Maye helps me do just that. The stylists keep up on the latest trends and stay educated. I am always hearing about different trainings they have recently attended. The place is CLEAN!! Spotless, really. And what I value the most about Salon ETCETERA, is how much they value me. Often salons offer discounts to new clients in order to entice them to come in. They also offer discounts and specials to their returning customers to say "Thank you" for being loyal. I leave feeling valued and beautiful!!! read more

I had a wedding to go to and heard a lot about this salon so I decided to try them out for myself. I booked the appointment a week prior to the wedding and they were able to fit me in and the time that worked perfectly to me. I let the receptionist know what I wanted done to my hair (Kim K inspired middle part with loose curls/waves) and she told me that they would be more then happy to do that for me, so of course I was excited! I show up, check in, and have a seat. The salon inside is extremely clean and very modern and beautifully decorated. A couple minutes later Diana (my hairstylist) greets me and shows me around and then asks me what I wanted done to my hair. I show her a picture and she smiles and tells me she would be more then happy to do that for me. As shes working on me we start talking and having great conversations as if we've been friends, it was really a great experience! Then her co-workers bring her a cake and sing happy birthday to her and I felt so bad that she was working on her birthday, but it showed me how dedicated Diana, as well as her co-workers, were to their job and making their clients happy. All in all, Diana did a beautiful job on my hair, everyone else at the salon were inviting and sweet, and the salon it self very well kept and clean. Give them a try and tell them I referred you ;) read more

Maye was highly recommend to me by a friend for microneedling. At first I didn't want to drive so far but now, I am so glad that I did! I can see why Maye was highly recommend. Maye was very attentive and very detailed with my after care. She even checked in with me the next day. I am amazed at the great customer service. I am so happy with the result and customer service, I will definitely go back for my 2nd treatment. Thanks Maye for taking great care of me! I love my results and everyone around me can see that my skin looks smoother and healthier! read more

I LOVED the way Maye did my ombré! It was such an amazing experience. It was very modern and high class looking, but the stylist were so friendly! She was very caring to what I wanted, and listen to everything I had to say. My hair was very dark, but she was still able to make it as blonde as I wanted, without damaging my hair. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants GREAT SERVICE. Loved everything about it, color, style, and cut. Maye thank you so much, I'll never choose another stylist again!! read more

Great experience! Alana took the time to get the results I was hoping for. Great attention to detail and care of client comfort during my appointment. I came in with a pic from Pinterest and left with more than I expected. Hubby loved it. Thank you Salon Etcetera and Alana! read more

Salon ETCETERA - Thank you Alana, you are a magician! Color correction on top of black hair dye...from an at home kit. You are AMAZING! - Hair Salons Near Me - Folsom, California

I went to this salon earlier in the summer and was highly disappointed after reading all their great reviews....well not to mention the high price I paid for their services. I I had Alana which according to all the reviews I was confident however that wasn't the case. At my appointment I'd asked for full highlights and thought that I could trust that with my natural dark hair they would lift it correctly. The owner even came out a couple times to "train" Alana how to properly apply highlights with foil. With this attempt from the owner highlights on the crown was uneven from the rest of my head. Thicker then I wanted it as I mentioned to Alana at the beginning of our appointment. However the owner thought she knew what she was doing and gave her professional two sense. It took nearly 3 1/2 hours to get highlights! And the results..... brassy, (like no toner was used at all like asked), uneven lighting throughout the strand of hair, highlights were thicker on top making it look chunky and definitely not the result I'd requested or paid over $250. So overall, disappointed at ever level. Haven't been back, have found better elsewhere and not ever thinking of even recommending anyone. read more

I am so grateful to have stumbled in to this salon a few years ago. Maye worked her magic and I found myself actually liking my hair! That's really a big deal. I look forward to going in to the salon-it's such a good vibe, everyone helps each other out and the massage when they wash your hair is fabulous!! Maye is a genius with color, she creates such beautiful depth. It had been impossible for me to find a stylist that I "clicked" with until I came here and based on what I see at the salon, I suspect I'm not the only one that feels that way. I moved to Sacramento a bit ago but will continue to head up to Eldo to visit magic Maye! It's worth every penny!! Love this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for some wonderful, talented stylists and a great experience. read more

I moved from El Dorado Hills but prior to that I had been seeing Cynthia for facials and waxing for the last 3 years. It has been over a year and I still can't find anyone as superior!! My face had never been smoother... Among other things :) She is not only the best in her field, but great to spend time with. Friendly, out-going and makes you feel Incredible comfortable no matter what service she is doing. I will have to start driving back to EDH just for her!! read more

I came here on a whim while visiting a friend who recommended me to get my hair done here. So before I visited my friend in Sacramento - I booked with a hair stylist named Janet. Boy was it worth it. I am that annoying customer that goes in clueless and asks the stylist to just make me beautiful. I went in for a color and didn't have anything specific in mind. I'm simply asked whatever she did to be low maintenance. Janet was absolutely patient and amazing through the whole process. She made me feel relaxed and explained what she intended to do thoroughly and patiently. Furthermore the end result says it all. As such, I have become a loyal customer for Janet and this beautiful modern salon. I have already been back for a touch up and also added an eyelash perm which again turned out amazing. I will be back again in a few months for more goodies from this place. Janet and the team there are AMAZING. read more

Bought a discount on Sacramento Perks - took me 9 months to use it & I wish I had those 9 months back. Went in for a facial with Cynthia - just hit 40 & have some sun spots and fine lines I want to work on. She talked with me for a good half hour about what I wanted to accomplish & then actually did it! Most places you go have their set routine facials and don't deviate especially when they know you came in on a discount. Cynthia was customer-service all the way and I will definitely be back. Good products, great service, great feel of a place. read more

This is a great salon. The staff is upbeat and happy. Maye, the owner, is wonderful with color. I've gone to this salon twice, once with an amazing groupon & the second time because I was thrilled with the results. I got a full head of highlights on my first visit and they were gorgeous!! Never have I ever had such a good experience. My second visit was 6 months later. I got a trim & had my highlights blended to mellowed out my summer look. I was very pleased once again with the results, however I was not so please with the price. It was over $150, which I thought was ridiculous. Never the less, I find myself wanting to return to Salon Etc. I just keep my visits far apart and try to save in between. read more

This review is regarding customer service in general at this salon. I am wanting to buy a hidden hair crown (extensions) and this salon is listed as a stockist for them. I called three times with no answer. I left a message that was not returned. I went to the salon since I couldn't get ahold of anyone and they do not even have the product. The customer service I received when I was there was poor, and it took 5 minutes for someone to even speak to me. I would suggest removing your salon from the hair crown website as you do not in fact carry these and it would be helpful if someone answered the phone and/or returned messages. read more

About a week before my appointment I purchased extensions from Bellami (guy tang #8/#60) and I loved the transition of my natural blonde/brown to golden blonde and then platinum color of the extensions but I wanted my ends to be more cool blonde like the extensions and the end result is stunning. Alana was the stylist working on my hair and she did a fabulous job! Plus I have TONS of hair, was there for a while, and she was a great conversationalist. I highly recommend Alana! read more

I bought a Groupon for them for a ombre and hair cut. I called everyday for 4 days until I finally got ahold of them and when I did they said that since I had a Groupon it would take 10 weeks to get me in. I never received any missed calls from them and I don't have my voicemail set up. However, they suggested that if I canceled my Groupon they could give me a good price and get me in sooner. That's absolutely ridiculous they just wanted to use Groupon as an advertisement without having to pay for it. Needless to say I canceled but I won't be going there. read more

On the plus side, their new location is clean and updated. I've been to Janet twice for a haircut and the first time I received an okay cut, but the second time I was really unhappy. I asked for the same cut both times, but the layers she put in my hair the second time were really choppy and uneven. I also got my hair dyed what was supposed to be "chocolate" but literally my hair was like a deep purple! No joke. Not to mention she took nearly 3 hours. I really wanted to like this place because it is so close to home, but unfortunately it is too inconsistent for me to want to return. read more

We scheduled an appointment, went in (on time) and Janet was sooo rude to us. Would not even give us the time of day. My sister was at the counter and Janet told her co-worker "I don't have time for this stuff" not knowing that my sister was with us. She did not want to even discuss what we wanted done to our hair. I wanted an ombre done and my sister just wanted highlights and my niece want fun colors put in her hair. She would not honor the ombre groupon, told us that it would be over $500 for each of us and told us that we would have to put a $200 deposit on each of us ($600) wow. Now the other woman named Alana was very nice and tried to help us out. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PLACE read more

I purchased a Groupon for $90 for services and when I called to set up my appointment the receptionist was quite abrupt and rude. She said, "I'm sorry, we're not accepting any groupons." And I said, "But you are still selling them today and I already purchased one." She said, "Well, I'll have to have the owner call you about that." I gave my home and cell number, didn't receive a call. At that point, who would want to go to this salon anyway!! Judging by the way they treat a new customer over the phone, I wouldn't be comfortable going there and spending any amount of time. Very poor customer service, I was looking for a new hairstylist but this isn't the place for me. read more

This place is great! I stumbled upon it when, one day, I decided I wanted a whole new cut and color. May (co-owner) took me in late one Saturday, one half hour before close and spent three hours on my hair. She consulted with me in-depth to make sure we got the right color and length. And she didn't even scold me on my hair products of choice, or try to sell me her salon products. I'm looking forward to my next color and trim! My husband and all my friends at work really loved what she did last time. read more

As I just moved to El Dorado Hills, I had a lot of options to pick from without knowing anything about the area. I just had to trust reviews I saw online. Let's just say I'm so happy I did! I was originally scheduled with Alana for a hair cut but I showed up to my appointment and they told me she had called in sick and couldn't contact me due to not having my number on file. Yelena was quick to offer me the cut, instead of me having to reschedule, for the same price that I would've received with Alana. All of the gals in the salon were extremely nice and welcoming. I feared going to a salon for over 2 years because of the tragic hair experiences I've had in the past. Yelena changed my view on salons and my hair has never felt or looked this beautiful and healthy. She took her time and you can tell she truly loves her work. Thank you for transforming my long, thick, untamed hair to a new head of hair! Everything happens for a reason and I'm so happy I met Yelena. read more

I found Maye a long time ago and have never been tempted to stray. She's magic with color. Patient for good results now and over time. Precision cuts that are maintainable. I agree with the reviewer below not only is this salon good, and the services great, but they are great to their customers. Regulars are appreciated - and we come more often so it ends up being a win-win for everyone! I admire the work in other chairs every time I am there. Good products available, but not pushed. This is the place to go if you've got a question about doing something new/different/dramatic. Smart and stylish people who want you to leave feeling good. I do every single time I go. read more

Here, you will get NYC/LA style--without all the pretention! This is an open, airy salon with a very friendly employees. Everyone seems to fall over themselves to provide great service. Parking is super easy, and there's a neat little deli next door where you can grab a Diet Coke before you get styled. But mostly, you'll go to Salon ETC for the great stylists. Services can be on the expensive side BUT when it comes to my hair, I've found the old saying "You get what you pay for" is true. As the economy tanked, I tried a couple other salons. But I'm back with Olga, who always gives me stunning color and a great cut that is hip--and easy to care for, even though it's long. The staff also has excellent advice on what products will keep my hair healthiest. Speaking of products--oh my gosh, don't walk out of there without buying Moroccan Oil. I resisted it for months because I thought it was expensive. Now I know that a little goes a lonnnng way, so it's a great investment. It not only protects your hair against the ill effects of blow drying and flat irons--it makes your hair shine like crazy! IT IS THE BEST HAIR PRODUCT EVER!!!!! In addition to doing great cut and color, Salon Etcetera has a couple excellent aestheticians available. GREAT FACIALS! Your skin will glow! I also get my eyebrows waxed every time I get my hair done, and Ylena always does a great job. If you want people to say, "You're hair looks great. Where do you get it done?", then check out Salon Etcetera. read more

Ok...for all those who have looked for someone in the foothills who knows how to do color...THIS IS THE PLACE for YOU! ETCETERA has the most professional and expert color and hair stylists. I have been up here in these hills for over 35 years and have been to almost every place from Placerville to Roseville and had never found anyone who knew how to work with natural curly and colored hair. Well...I am here to tell you that I can now stop, because I have found the place and that place is ETCETERA! I went in to try to find a person who would be able to match a hair piece that my husband liked. When I arrived as a walked in just to check it our, they stopped what they were doing and check out my hair piece and my own hair and together came up with a plan of action to make me happy. I set up an appointment that day as I really felt that this will finally be the place that knows how to do what I wanted, not what they wanted to do with my hair. When I arrived for that appointment, everyone was very nice...called me by name, offered me something to drink then off we went looking at the color book. Maye was an expert at matching colors and getting the blonde color that I really wanted, not the color that everyone else has. You know what I mean, you walk down the street and see a lot of girls with blonde hair and they all look the same color. I sat back and relaxed while off they went mixing up color for my hair. When they were ready...I saw 8 bowls of color! EXCTALY what I wanted, someone who knew how to do a multi-color weave, just not two or three colors, but EIGHT! WOW when Maye was done, my hair looked GREAT and all those colors blended in without looking like a skunk. You that have had bad weaves know what I am talking about. I am not a fan of skunk stripes and was very happy how my hair turned out. At ETCETERA, they work as a TEAM and I really mean TEAM! Everyone took pride and helped with every aspect of my hair coloring experience. I WILL BE BACK!!!! DENISE SMITH read more

Before I came to this salon, I've never dyed my hair before and I was very nervous. I pulled up some pictures of the hair color I wanted and showed it to hair dresser I was working with, Janet. She told me respectfully that in order to get my hair that light I would have to do it in increments. From the very first session to the last, I became more impressed with Janet's work! It came out better than I ever expected and she was so kind and honest and did such an amazing job. Since then, I've been in multiple different times; throughout the years with a variety of different colors and cuts and she never ceases to amaze me. She's the only person I let cut and color my hair and she's always done such an amazing job. I would recommend this salon to first timers like myself or people that experiment with their hair as much as myself! read more

I love this place! I see Yelena, but all of the stylists are excellent. (Other members of my family see Maye and Janet.) I made an appointment here after seeing all the yelp reviews. New to the area and was in search of a stylist who can cut thick Asian hair. I called on Thursday and was able to get an appointment in for Saturday with Janet. She was on time and super friendly. I showed her a picture of the style/look I was going for. Expressed my problem of thick puffy hair and how I wanted it layered and manageable. She knew exactly how to cut it and thin it out. I could not be happier with her work.
