She cleaned up my mess of a head and the change was TRULY TRANSFORMATIVE!!! I've always been blonde but the majority of my hair is now white. The outgrowth needed blending and she achieved wonders in just a couple of hours. And the deck overlooking Sutter Street is super relaxing- it felt like being at a friend's house. This review is for Amber. I came into Indie after coming for years, but was referred to Amber when my regular moved away. I asked for someone comfortable and skilled with curly hair. She did not cut my hair the way I showed her even though I showed her very specific photos. She used the blade of the scissors to basically razor my curly, thick hair. When I asked questions or pointed things out she'd cut it more for some reason. I figured I'd give it a day and make sure it wasn't just the way she styled it or how it was dried. After the day, it was, of course, still bad. I sent Jen the owner, who is very sweet, a message about having another stylist take a look at it, since she was the one who referred me. I felt and looked horrible. I did not message Amber because I thought she would take it personally and wig out- I was right. Amber called me at 9 in the evening! Then sent a series of rude messages accusing me of scamming her, which she deducted from my "character"- the only thing I talked about, when she wasn't talking over me about how she picks her nose and showing me explicit photos, was how I had surgery in Beverly Hills and that I volunteer as an English teacher for new American children. So by "character", she really meant non-White and brown skinned. I've never encountered such a disgusting display of ineptitude of skill, professionalism, and basic social and common sense. For someone of her advanced age, it is egregious to receive such horrible customer service and disrespectful communication. She did not apologize and instead played coy and told me to "calm down" and that I was "off the rails" when I calmly asked for my money back and she needed to respond for her rude messages. I got my hair recut beautifully by JOYCE SONG in SoCal, who said as she cut my hair "Did they take a razor to your head? Oh my God, why would someone do this? I just had my hair done by Lisa Stevens, for the first time, at Indie Salon yesterday! I have wavy hair and have struggled to find a stylist that knows how to cut and style it. I am a mom of 3 kids, so I'm a wash and go kinda person. Lisa spent so much time on my hair and talking to me even before the appointment! She wanted to know about my lifestyle and how I normally wear and style my hair. I've fallen in love with my hair and thought I would never say that. My hair is now shiny, the color is great, and the cut is perfect! I might go a little lighter next time on the color, but honestly the cut is all that matters. Lisa did an all over root color, Balayage highlight and cut. She also spent a lot of time explaining how to style it and what products are right for my hair type. Ive been looking for a hairstylist for a couple weeks now. I contacted one of the stylist I'm not sure what her name is but her Instagram is inderhair. I sent her a message asking if I could make an appointment to get my hair done by her(as it says on her Instagram to message for appointment) she rudely replied who is this? I explained to her I was looking for someone to cut my hair as I'm dealing with PP hair loss. She didn't even message back she just blocked me. Incredibly rude and incredibly unprofessional. I've been seeing Megan Inderbitzin for well over a year now, and it's been awesome! I was always the type that "played it safe" with just dark hair and a blunt cut--always too nervous to try anything new out. But Megan has slowly introduced things to me like layers and different colors...things I would have never done. Slowly but surely I've let my guard down. Much of that probably stems from how she takes the time to explain what she's doing and why. And If I see something I like on the web, it's always nice to be able to run it by her and see what her opinion is about it. She gives great feedback! My stylist Katie has now opened her own salon, along with another stylist, so of course I followed her to this new location. It is in the heart of old town Folsom in the Opera House building upstairs, just to the right of the top of the stairs. The salon is very open and airy with light hardwood floors, fresh paint and three large windows that look out onto Sutter Street. Katie was telling me that there is a plan to change the middle window into french doors so that clients can go sit out on the patio and take in the sun and people watching down below. There are four stations with beautiful white leather chairs for getting treatments, along with stylish and comfortable couches and chairs while you wait or process. Katie and her partner are both extremely friendly and talented and this salon will be a real asset to the Sutter Street lineup. There are many cute shops and restaurants all up and down this street so you can make a whole outing out of your salon visit. The Folsom Zoo is quite closeby as well, so that will be nice for my husband to take our kids to while I get my hair cut and then we can meet up for a meal afterwards. I arrived at about 9:50 am for my 10 am appointment and was able to find a spot on the street right in front of the salon, which has free 3 hour parking. But I know this area can get busy later in the evening, so there are free lots and parking garages just across the road a bit that will not be too much of a walk. Katie and her partner have varying hours, so I would definitely call ahead for an appointment. They also carry and use Davines products, which are all natural and mostly organic hair products from Italy. The products she used on me left my hair looking and smelling great. I did not inquire into the pricing of purchasing the products, but I liked the result enough that I may do so next time. All of the packaging of the products are also very eco friendly and it seems to be an impressive company. read more

Megan "Inderbitzin" is a hair wizard I tell ya! I am very hesitant letting stylists cut/dye my hair, from past experiences. But Megan has restored my trust! They way she lightly ombré 'd my hair makes for such a natural look, and little up-keep. Had the worst experience with Amanda. She had booked me 3 appointments in over a month period and I still couldn't get my basic haircut done. extremely rude and very bad attitude. for my first appointment I drove all the way to her about 45 mins from my place. I arrived there, ( her location is in downtown Folsom. So really hard to find Parking ) I was finally able to find parking, I parked and start walking up there. As soon as she saw me from the window I was walking up, she texted me about 2 seconds before I step inside her salon. Oh I have to cancel your appointment. And when I enter the the door, she said oh your appointments canceled and I have sent a text. Really ?? You literally did 2 seconds back when you saw me. Anyways reason was, she couldn't do my haircut as i was just few mins late and that's bcoz me finding a parking in downtown and walking all the way to her place but again that's very few mins. She start making up excuses. I explained her how hard it's for me to drive all they way to her as I am very far from her place. She keeps saying no I can't. No apology nothing. *very very rude* According to her each appointment is one hour on dot. And after one hour her next client will be on the door. But what if someone's hair takes few mins extra? You would leave them in middle ? Bcoz your next cleint will be on door extant after 1 hour. She should keep atleast 5 to 10 mins gap between each appointment. But anyways, I rescheduled for the second time. She kept my appointment and didn't mention atleast 2 days before so I don't make my schedule accordingly. But She messaged me day before my appointment and said, oh I have to go to doctor office tomorrow with my dad for some testing and I have to cancel your appointment. I said ok! That's fine please reschedule me. That's on aug 8 She never ever messaged me. First you canceled on me, Second time you had some other appointments to go, you cancel on me again. But you never care to reschedule it ???? I waited till aug 17. That's about 9 days. I messaged her can you please reschedule I am still waiting. She said yes. Then she reschedule me again for 21 Aug. But guess what She flake on me again ughh! I arrived to her salon again there was no parking under her location. So I have to find parking on another streets. This time I called her twice, hey I am here and Parking. She never answered my calls so I left her message as well. As I don't want her to say same thing what she did first time. Anyways, she called me back and said oh I can't cut your hair. I am like are you serious ??? You can't do this to me. It's my third time and I am politely dealing with all this but I think it's enough now. She said, I can cut your hair but you would have to go with wet hair. Bcoz I can't dry your hair as timer will be off. I am like I done with you at this point. You have been lying to me canceling my appointments each time, not rescheduling on time when you messaged me only a day before and telling me oh I won't be able To tomorrow bcoz of some other appointments with your dad and doctors etc... and waisting my time, energy and gas constantly. Megan Inderbitzin is the best! She's been doing my hair for about five years now and I've never been disappointed. She listens to what you want and makes it happen! I like my hair really blonde, but I also like it to look natural and Megan gets it right every time. She's also very knowledgable and helpful if you have any questions or want to try something new. I first met Megan in San Luis Obispo, when she worked at The Hive, but we've both moved since then. Thankfully I can continue seeing her because she works close to where my parents live now. I'm about to head to an appointment with Jen, one of the owners of Indie, so I thought this is a good time to brag about her. :) I've been seeing Jen for a year or so now, and she is amazing. I completely trust her with my hair. I'll throw statements at her like "Yeah...I want it to do THIS" and just make hand motions (clearly, I'm a great communicator) and she somehow knows what I mean and works her magic to give me just what I wanted. I also trust her to guide me the right directions....when I came in wanting to go from my naturally VERY dark hair to blonde, she kindly talked me into something that wouldn't destroy my hair. Sometimes I get crazy ideas and need to be reeled back in a bit. She mixes beautiful colors, too. I get endless compliments on the various shades of red she has done for me. With other stylists, sometimes the 2 hours it takes can get a little boring. Never with Jen. The only thing better than Jen's skills is Jen herself. I always look forward to my hair appointments because it means we get to hang out and catch up! And finally, her and her fellow stylist and friend, Katie, own Indie and OH MY WORD this place is ADORABLE. It's upstairs on Sutter Street across from the brewery. There are big windows overlooking the street, the furniture and design is modern and chic, and it has a cozy feel. They did an incredible job. 5 stars is not enough. Seriously. read more

I have been lucky enough to get my hair cut by Megan inderbitzin for over 6 years now. She is incredible. I have really curly hair and she does a great job at giving me a cut that will look great both straight and curly. I currently live in SoCal and I refuse to get my hair cut by anyone here. I had a highlight and cut with Megan, and it's one of the best haircut/colors I've ever gotten. The highlights are very natural and the A line cut is exactly what I was looking for. Megan had a different spin on the back of the A line, and I absolutely love it. She took in everything I wanted and made sure to explain exactly what she was going to do so I wasn't caught off guard. Unfortunately, Amanda failed to communicate effectively regarding her open availability to schedule an appointment. I have not heard from her in over a week so I requested a refund from Groupon. Just got my hair cut and highlighted by Megan Inderbitzen at Indie Salon and I LOVE it. Megan has been cutting hair in San Luis Obispo for a long time and I have always wanted to get my hair cut by her, but never found myself in her neck of the woods. When I found out she had moved to the Indie Salon in Folsom, I jumped at the chance to have her do my hair. I told her to do whatever she wanted and the highlights turned out better than I've ever had. They add so much dimension and texture to my hair without having a stark contrast (sometimes I feel like a skunk after a highlight). The cut is perfect for my wash and wear lifestyle - and she even taught me a new trick if I want to actually blow it dry and style it. I HIGHLY recommend a visit to see Megan. read more

I purchased a haircut, highlight and style with Jenn Hollywood. Showed up a few minutes early and sat there for 25 minutes with no greeting or acknowledgement. Jenn does the highlights and then seems very rushed she quickly blow dries my hair and says ok your done. Well I have naturally curly hair so blow drying it just makes it extremely frizzy and dull looking. I paid for a style and I expected that after she blew dry my hair she would style it with a curling iron since I told her several times I wanted large barrel curls. My hair just looked a mess and I really couldn't tell if I liked the color or the cut since it was so frizzy. I said I really don't want to leave with my hair all frizzy, Can I use your curling iron to smooth it out before I go? hint hint... She just gave me a blank stare and said I can't curl your hair with a flat iron but I can straighten it. I said I don't want my hair straight I told you I wanted large curls. I said never mind just give me some oil to smooth it out and I will go home and style it. She put a few drops in and said there you go... I go home to put the large barrel curls in that I asked her to do and I realized she cut my hair at least 2 inches shorter on one side!!!!! I guess that is why she didn't want to style it so I wouldn't notice. I am so annoyed now I am going to have to pay someone else to fix my hair. I had a great experience here with Amanda. I purchased a Groupon and made the appointment for a Saturday. Amanda was pleasant and personable and really gave me some great advice for my hair. I am not good at determining what I need as far as style goes and I am not the best at styling my hair either. Amanda gave me a haircut that looks great and I am able to style it with no problem. I also love that my new style is different from what I've had in the past but it's still within my comfort zone. The salon itself is also very nice. I really wanted to get my haircut here since it's walking distance from my house. I tried calling them multiple times, even tried calling the indidual stylists and no one would answer. I finally decided to just walk in and try to make a appointment. I waited in line behind this lady who just got her hair done, they carried on a conversation for a minute or two and then the lady left. The lady helping her (which happened to be the owner) walked away and called her next client over. She didn't acknowledge me at all. So I sat down figuring she was getting her next appointment set up and then would come help me. So I sat and waited and she began getting ready to cut her clients hair. Katie works magic on your hair. I went in with horrible highlights on my dark hair (aka fried from too much bleach). One time in Katie's chair and my hair is gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about Jenn. I originally bought a Groupon for cut, color, conditioning treatment and style. I was so impressed with her work, her friendly, charismatic and outgoing personality, and genuine interest in getting to know me as a person that I haven't gone anywhere else ever since. That was almost two years ago and I have been back many times. Moreover, Jenn recommended a shampoo and conditioner for my hair from the Davines product line that she keeps in stock and although it's expensive (name one good hair product that isn't), it does MAGIC and MIRACLES on my hair. She was so sweet, I told her I couldn't afford to order it that day but that as soon as I had the money I would. Texted her a few weeks later to order it and we couldn't find a good time to meet up at her salon that worked for both of us, so she DROVE the product to my work all the way in Roseville that same day, so I wouldn't have to wait. That's going above and beyond, and she truly does care about her clients. There is a woman who left her a one star review here on yelp and shared a photo of a supposed uneven haircut that Jenn did and I can personally vouch that her claims are NOT consistent at all with the quality of Jenn's work or her communication and treatment of guests. Moreover, you can clearly see in the reviewer's own photo that the side she claims was allegedly cut "2 inches shorter" is far more curled at the ends than the other side which would explain the difference in length. Sounds to me like the woman was just a cranky, hard-to-please, uppity broad that (based on her own photo) doesn't know how to style her own hair so that it is even, and tried to use her inadequate attempts to destroy the reputation of an amazing stylist. Jenn has styled my hair many times and it always comes out perfect! Bottom line: If you want your hair to be done right, look amazing, and feel amazing, then Jenn at Indie Salon is the way to go. I had botched my hair color trying to go blond with a store box kit and it was an ugly yellow orange. I wanted to get it fixed and fast, but I'm somewhat new to town and didn't have a local stylist yet. I ended up coming across indie salon on yelp and went to their website. I really liked how the site had bios for the stylist and their prices and specialties. I sent a text to Sherri, one of the color specialists, to see if she could get me in today. She texted me right back at 7 AM to let me know she was unavailable but she sent out a group text to the other stylists that she thought might have an opening today (a Monday as well, many salons are closed). I was able to get a same day appointment with Amanda, and I'm so glad I did. Not only did she fix my hair she gave me several options of how we could fix the yellow orange. She really knew what she was talking about when it came to haircolor and I'm very happy with how my hair turned out. My experience overall at the salon was lovely. All of the people I dealt with were very nice and helpful and the salon itself is beautifully decorated as well. read more
