My stylist Taylor was so sweet, patient, professional and talented. I came in with very long and limp hair and I left with completely different hair! She was able to keep it very long, and she cut the most beautiful layers for me. She also took her time with toning to ensure my grown out bleach was covered, and I'm so happy. She is a gem. I just got a haircut at this salon, and unfortunately, it's the worst I've ever received. I asked for layers, but my hair is completely one length with no dimension at all--it honestly looks like I cut it myself at home. When I go to a professional salon and pay premium prices, I expect quality service, but this experience was beyond disappointing. Not only did the stylist cut my hair shorter than I wanted, but now I can barely style it. The fact that I even have to write this review says a lot. If this salon is charging high-end prices, they should have stylists who actually know how to cut and shape hair properly. Let me start off by saying I really wanted to like this place. I saw tons of good reviews and was in desperate need of some hair help. I had been reluctant in the past to use a salon because of the overpricing and overall lackluster end results. I came in with previously color-treated hair that needed correction. The stylist I had was young and friendly but seemed inexperienced. She spent a lot of time consulting other staff members on how to manage and treat my hair. I understood my hair goal might not be achievable in one session, but I mainly wanted to tone down the orange from my previous color. During the process, I overheard staff make comments like, 'Well, what did she expect?'. There were also numerous comments about how I should not have box dyed my hair. It made me feel judged and uncomfortable. I was there for over four hours, and despite multiple treatments, I left with red/ brown hair by the end and incredibly dry and brittle. This was after the manager finally stepped in to try help the stylist I had. I wouldn't have minded the price, but for $250, the experience was overall disappointing. Between the stylist's inexperience, the lack of communication, and the overall uncomfortable atmosphere, I would not return. read more

Miliani prepped and helped me donate 8 inches, shaved the bottom of my head, and evened out my hair. My head feels so much lighter, and I feel a bounce in my hair. It feels healthy again. I am going to split my review into two parts so I can review the salon as a whole as well as my stylist! First the salon: I really like the cleanliness and environment of Maribou in Folsom, and I appreciate that they offer services for a variety of budgets. I recently moved here and am a student so I got consultations from a few salons to ensure I could get the services I was looking for within my budget. I was quoted for my color and was told there was an add-on hair cut option for $50 (or something around that, base price isn't the main point)- when I went in for my service later that month I was told they just stopped doing that promotion and I would have to pay $70 for the haircut. Again- not sure if that's the exact cut price, but I am sure that it was $20 more than what I had been quoted. That was a bit frustrating since I largely chosen this salon due to pricing and $20 is a big difference for a service you know they were charging much less for the week before. I believe they should have at least honored the price I was quoted, but I needed the cut since I was just about to leave the country so I felt I didn't have much of a choice. Other than this I really like Maribou, but I feel a little uncomfortable going back since unexpected changes like that aren't something I can really afford. I realize this is a high-end luxury salon, so it may be better suited for those who don't mind a $20 difference :-)) My stylist, Ella: I really loved Ella. She was extremely personable and clearly knowledgeable about her work. She did a partial lived-in color to cover up the brassiness I got after using sun-in. I liked her work a lot! In the spirit of leaving a fully honest review, I still saw a good amount of brassiness come through from the pieces that weren't colored (she explained $200 would only cover a partial so I somewhat expected this), and I have been able to get a really good full balayage for the same price elsewhere, but she was so friendly I would still highly recommend selecting her as your stylist! read more

I LOVE MY HAIR. I just want to start with the fact that my hair is very long, hasn't been trimmed in a while, and SUPER thick. (I also just got back from a week in Mexico so my hair was super dried out) So I made a appointment with Camryn at Maribou in hopes that she could thin it out and make it healthy again! She took her time to make sure it was evenly cut and thinned out, but still kept it looking thick and luxurious!! She gave the best scalp massage in the wash bowl, too! We last minute added some face framing. My hair hasn't felt this good in so so long!! I absolutely love it. Lastly, all the girls in there were dressed so cute and were so sweet, and the salon smells so good! I HAD to buy one of the products she put in my hair because it just smelled so amazing. I was very unhappy with the service I received. It is my first time at this salon and last minute booked an appt for a wash and to straighten my hair. (I have curly hair) the girl was huffing and puffing through out the entire process and was rushing it bc she had another client after me. My hair was a frizz ball after her straightening it. Honestly it was bad, I told her I wanted the ends to be flipped out and she couldn't do it correctly with the straightener it looked crimped, so I had her go over it again and said forget it. She did not straighten the framing pieces to my face and was doing big chunk sections. Naturally I had to ask if she is used to doing my type of hair as it didn't seem that way. I didn't appreciate the awkwardness through the process along with having to ask to fix multiple things. When she asked me if I wanted hair spray, I was SHOCKED bc clearly the job wasn't done and the top of my hair looked crazy. I still paid, didn't complain as it is the holidays- but I will not be back. Too bad though; I live just a couple minutes away and get my hair done weekly. It's unfortunate when salons have people that don't know what they are doing especially when I am paying for a $60+ service getting it done for an occasion and am upset the whole time because I HATE IT!!!!! Destiny is a magician with my locks! I've seen her twice now. Once for a fairly major cut and temporary darker auburn color (loved it!) and more recently for another cut and a lighter balayage (loved it also!). Besides being a talented hairdresser, she's also just very nice and super sweet. This is a really lovely salon - as it should be for the price of the services they offer. But since I don't splurge on my 'do too often, I've found my two trips worth it. For the record, for my first appointment, I originally booked at the Sutter Street location. While the receptionist was kind and helpful, the rest of the pre-visit correspondence was a nightmare to the point that I cancelled and tried the Palladio location. That's how I met Destiny, so it all ended up fine and good. But I recommend avoiding their Sutter Street location! read more

Maddie took me as a walk in for a haircut to shape up my less then chin length, curly hair. 2 years ago I shaved off my shoulder length, platinum blonde hair to let my salt & pepper hair grow out. Curly hair can be challenging to say the least. Maddie used a diffuser and I left curly and happy. Later that evening I couldn't wait to play with it. I've been going to Annabella since she was in cosmetology school, and she's never ever disappointed. As somebody with curly hair it is hard to find a stylist that can work with my curl type as well as maintain my curl's health, and that is exactly what Annabella has provided for me in every service. She has made me the perfect shade of blonde and everytime I've requested something, she has always pulled through and served. She is also transparent and wants the best for her client, even going as far as recommending products that will help keep my curls healthy after bleaching. I booked a haircut, highlights, and lowlights with Hannah Amaya a few weeks ago. I am very picky and after my hairstylist moved I had to find someone new, which is daunting. Hannah came highly recommended and she did not disappoint! It is nearly impossible for me to find someone who can both cut my hair the way I like and who also does great color. I booked an appointment here for the first time for a blow out and up do style. When i walked in I was immediately told that there is not enough time for a blow out, which was odd because I got there right on time. I showed some inspiration pictures and what I was looking for. During the appointment it felt odd that I had to point out that my middle part was not a middle part, and that the bun she made at the end was not centered and poking out on my left side. It took an hour for the job and got an amateur result. By then I had no courage to say anything because I couldn't spent more time there and I didn't know how to verbally direct her to fix it. I spent $105 ($10 tip) for her to straighten my hair, put it in a basic bun, and a 2 second mist of hairspray. At the front desk i was told it was discounted since i didn't receive a blow out. My advice for those booking when looking through review photos on yelp/google is to book specifically with the person who did the up do. Because many of the up do photos here on yelp look amazing, and my hair looked nothing like it. I hated my hair, i took it down and styled it myself with my cousins help. It ended up being perfect and probably what i should've done from the beginning. P.s don't book me an appointment for a blow out if there is no time on the appointment calendar. read more

I have finally found my salon! I have been looking since I moved here in 2018! I made an appointment online and let the computer pick a stylist for me since this was my first time at this location and went in on Friday 09.16. I was immediately greeted and let know that my stylist would be with me when she was finished. The salon is beautiful and set up in a fun way where you can watch the stylists mix the colors behind the mirrors. I sat with Deja and let her know I wanted a cut and color and showed her a picture for reference. She came back and let me know for the color service I wanted she didn't have the time Friday but was able to get me back in on Sunday. She assessed my hair, gave me a trim and styled my hair so I could look fabulous on for my Friday date night. Sunday - Deja texts me asking if I can come in an hour early, YES!!! She greets and seats me right away. The process took about 3ish hours to go from brunette to pictured but so worth it. Stylist Sarah and her client were engaging with me and Deja, I truly had a great time. I've love my new color and have received many compliments on it! I everytime I talk about it I highly recommend Maribou Palladio and to go see Deja. I will 100% be returning! read more

I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am that I spent 3 hours in a chair for more than unsatisfactory results. I asked to have highlights a bit darker than the ones presently in my hair. The result was horrifying. The stylist messed up my hair and then told me I needed a very expensive toner. When I left the shop I was convinced that the toner would wash out and perhaps I would have a darker tone of blonde. That did not happen. My bill was over $400. I have never paid that much in my life and I'm from New York. The reason I was there for 3 hours was because the stylist was depending on a 14 year old to help her. No idea why this was happening. I asked for highlights just a bit darker than the ones presently in my hair and the result was brown hair. I asked for a redo and was told the stylist was not available for several weeks. I was heading to NY for Thanksgiving so I asked for a December appointment. I was told I would be responsible for the cost of the "fix." So I decided to go to another hair salon ad when I walked in I was asked "who ruined your hair?" I was told that the last person who treated my hair "fried it." I then had to pay another $400 for the fix. I was also told that whomever did my hair had no idea what she was going. This review is about Kristy, who is absolutely fantastic. She's so nice, really listens to you, and is easy to get along with. She makes you feel comfortable and her work is wonderful. I've seen her twice now and she knows how to take care of hair. I have really dark Asian hair and I feel like she did a great job taking care of it so that it wasn't damaged. Go and book her, she's fantastic! This location is also more relaxed and not as busy from the times I've been there. I like a less hectic kind of environment.
