After an extremely disappointing experience at Take Care Barbershop in midtown (nonstop profanity around customers, stylists smoking cigarettes right at their stations, chair renters drinking alcohol, complete lack of professionalism), I wasn't sure where to go next. Walking into this salon was the best decision I've made in a long time. This is exactly what a salon should be: clean, calm, and genuinely family-friendly. The entire staff is courteous and professional--no cursing, no inappropriate behavior, just respectful conversation the whole time. They're also very health-conscious; everyone agrees that smoking is harmful and has no place in a client environment, and you'll never see a cigarette anywhere near the chairs. My kids were completely at ease, got excellent haircuts, and actually enjoyed the visit. The atmosphere is relaxed yet polished, pricing is reasonable, and every stylist takes pride in their work. I started a review after my first visit to Amy, but apparently I never actually posted it. I have seen her several more times since then and I have been happy with every visit. Amy is phenomenal - She is talented, friendly, and fast (1-1.5 hours less than other hair stylist I've been to ). For a solid 10 +years I have HATED getting my hair done, as every stylist I have been to in that time has taken at least 3 hours and left my hair brassy. lt didn't matter if I went to a super expensive salon or some random hole in the wall - they took too long and never left me fully happy. At best I would leave a place thinking my hair was "good enough". But then I came across Amy. After spending a significant amount of time looking up probably 100 salons/stylists , Studio Pure was the only salon I found that had an overall five star rating (I think there was one negative review and it was a complaint that Amy was too fast! I don't know who these people are that want to spend hours at a salon, but if that is what you are looking for then Amy is probably not the stylist for you). I've included before and after pics of the first time I saw Amy. The "before" is pretty bad, as I hadn't had my hair done in almost 18 months and due to medical reasons had recently lost a significant amount of hair). Although anything would have been an improvement, having so much grow out and contrast between bleached ends and dark roots makes it more difficult for stylists to blend together. As you can see, Amy did an amazing job. * as a sidenote, the salon is two stylists: Amy and Tim. I have only had Amy do my hair, so I cannot really review Tim. However, he was in the salon the first time I saw Amy and he seemed very knowledgeable and did a great job on that lady's hair he was styling while I was there. read more

This was my first time looking for a new hairstylist and I'm in love! It's always hard and scary to find a new stylist because you never know what you're gonna get. I had my haircut by Tim and he nailed it! I showed him a picture of a style and listened to what I wanted. When you walk into a hair salon or studio and you want to feel pampered, you need to have the feeling of relaxation like the feeling you get when you walk into Studio Pure. Studio Pure has a welcoming little lobby and great chairs to sit in while waiting for your appointment. The style and vibe you will feel when walking in will be great. I came in today for a private open house event. I could have chosen a hair touch up or makeup touch-up. Truth be told, I don't need a makeup or hair touch up. I need a hair or makeup OVERHAUL. lol. Thankfully I was able to choose a mini hand & arm massage instead. I also learned that with each hair or makeup treatment they give you a mini hand & arm massage. That's a really nice coda! Athena gave me my massage. The massage was more gentle than I anticipated, but in Athena's defense, I bet helping the several ladies before me took some stamina from her. I think I'm right because it gets exhausting when I'm giving massages and my men usually don't want me to stop. But my hands and arms get exhausted! Athena's main work is doing hair and makeup. When I asked her what she loves to do most, she shared that she loves to do weddings. She enjoys giving the full package. I tell you this - if I'm ever proposed to - and with my profile photos it's hard to say if any man is man enough so it may never happen - but if I'm ever going to be married, I do believe I'd like to ask Athena to be my hairdresser and makeup artist for my special day. Of course I'd ask to see a portfolio of prior clients photos, but I'm pretty sure it'd only be to reaffirm what I believe to be Athena's quality work. I don't think I'd be disappointed, but a person needs to do their homework. Athena was great to get to know and I think entrusting someone with your special day requires trust & faith. I saw Tim's work on my friends hair. Tim curled her hair. Her hair was as straight as mine before sitting in Tim's chair. The curls looked absolutely cute, and he did it in a quick 10-minute styling! I also saw Athena's makeup on another friend of mine. She had come in without make-up or with minimal makeup. Athena did a wonderful job. It looked like she had put on the right amount of makeup, not excessive. And she took care of my friend in a short 10-minute appointment. Amazing work that Amy, Tim & Athena do at Studio Pure. And they were very pleasant, warm people amid a lot of bubbly ladies. If you're looking for a salon in the Folsom area (not far off US-50, and just 20 minutes from Sac proper without traffic), please consider these wonderful people! Studio pure is located within Studio 55. This place was a lovely collection of different studios, renting out one main location. It all looked very professional and nice, almost like a 5 star hotel ahah. Amy was my stylist and we just did a simple tutorial on keeping hair curled. She used Davine's hair products which smelled amazing. In the short interaction that we had, she was able to curl my hair wonderfully so my hair was really nice and bouncy. Granted, due to the scientific/biological structures of different hair types, my hair falls out rather quickly. I was somewhat disappointed by this, but I'm sure that if I had more time with Amy, she would have been able to work something out to have the curls stay in. My hair was essentially straight 1.5-2 hours after curling ;[... Anyways, a cute, classy, little studio. I'm still considering checking it out again, but it was a great experience! read more
