First the good: very friendly staff, Same day appointments and even seen early when I showed up before my appointment, good with kid and adult cuts, very inexpensive ($45 before tip for an adult and kid cut). The bad, and why I won't go back: they do not clean their instruments. There is no cleaning solutions for the combs between cuts, combs just come out of drawers, and the shavers are not cleaned either. Sorry, that's a deal breaker for me. My son was very itchy afterwards so I showered him and found adult hair shavings all over his neck. I like a good deal but hygiene is important. read more

This review is specifically based on the service I've received for many years and kids hair cuts. They are very accommodating when it comes to the haircut details and directions, and normally don't have to repeat myself. They are also very affordable and quick on their haircuts. Once or twice, however, they haircut techniques and results vary from stylist to stylist, some having to correct a few things from the last hair cut. And if they could sanitize combs and accessories more frequently, that'd be very reassuring. Overall, don't think o can find a better value. read more

Most welcome of discovery by chance when there weren't any parking spaces in front of Meissner sewing and the only spot left was in front of Ideal Cuts! I drove there after work to pick up my sewing machine from completion of a tune up. I had been wanting to schedule a haircut or a digital perm for over one month already so decided to take a chance at this new place for a walk in appointment. There wasn't one guest inside and I was welcomed to enter and take a seat. Van greeted me with a warm smile and asked what I would like to have done. I originally mentioned a simple hair cut with layers to get more volume for my over grown long thin straggly hair however decided to trust Van with a body wave after spending some time with her. She spoke with Jenny and decided there was enough time scheduled to take care of my bodywave so I was very grateful. Both mentioned because of the heavy rain there weren't too many walk ins that afternoon. A hair stylist is a personal choice and there needs to be trust involved when it comes to getting a completely new look. I found Van to be very gentle, attentive, sweet, kind, friendly and most of all professional with her character and style. There is a calming energy about her that is most welcome after spending the day working and needing to feel relaxed and comfortable. My hair was so thin and over grown too long and although I normally get a digital perm which is healthier for the scalp I decided to have a regular old fashioned bodywave this time. Every 2-3 years I like to take a break from curling my hair and it had been about 2 and a half years since my last digital perm. I was amazed at how comfortable I was with Van since we just met for the first time as we talked about many things and shared our stories together. I could have stayed there just to continue getting to know her better and share more stories about our lives with one another. The business became very busy about half an hour after I began my process. With just Jenny and Van working alone the energy of Ideal Cuts could have become mayhem however the both of them remained calm and warm with assisting the guests and answering of the phones in a professional and friendly manner. There were about 7 other guests who were taken care of while I was waiting in between for the solutions to be timed and completed. 3 young boys, 3 men and 1 lady. I was amazed and very impressed at the calmness and friendliness of energy both Van and Jenny showed by never rushing their guests and taking their time with each one to make sure they were each satisfied and happy with their hair cuts. I am surely going to be a return guest at Ideal Cuts and I am also going to recommend my hubby, sisters, friends and other family members if anyone asks where they can go for a haircut/style and highly recommend this place! read more

A couple of months ago my husband referred me to this place. He had been getting his haircut here for about a year now and never thought about suggesting this place to me until he saw I was struggling to find a more affordable haircut. Compared to the crazy average price of $65-70 (before tip) at other salons for a simple woman's haircut, this place is very affordable without sacrificing quality! The staff are all super friendly and offer great customer service. The interior design is plain but that's not necessarily something I care about -- to me it's all about the quality and service the hairdressers can deliver to their customers. This place checks all the right boxes. I went to Anna as recommended and she is amazing! She is the first hairdresser I've been to in a long time who is able cut & blend my layers exactly how I want without the use of thinning shears. On top of that, she gave the best scalp massage when washing my hair; it felt sooo good. I came here last week for the second time and I will be coming back many, many more times. :) read more

First time trying this place and I didn't like my cut. My main barber is gone on vacation so I wanted to try a different place. Saw the reviews for this place and the cost was great. I think the good reviews were for someone other than what I got. I got an older woman cutting my hair. I told her what I wanted and as she was cutting my hair, I got the vibe that she didn't really know what she's doing. Towards the end, my left side of the hair was a lot longer than the right side. It was uneven. I had to tell her to even it out as it was obviously noticeable. As she evened it out, she made it shorter than what I wanted. I asked for "TINY half inch". I got a little over an inch. Even after she finished, it just looked ugly, slightly uneven, texturized was terrible, and a lot shorter than what I wanted. Looked more like a $5 haircut than a $23 haircut. Oh well, it'll grow back I guess. read more

My kid & I walked in on Thursday noon and was served immediately. My kid is very sensitive to the sound of shaver but the lady was very gentle & understanding. She cut his hair fast & neatly. I usually had to hold my kid's head until the end of hair cut but he was comfortable by himself in the middle of the process. I requested short cut for my kid and the lady did cut to my preferred length. Kid cut is $14 which is a good price for us. We will definitely come back in the future. read more

Took my daughter here for a haircut. She just wanted a one inch straight trim cut nothing fancy. Jenny was the hairstylist. She was nice, sweet lady. She did a great job on what we asked for. It was a quick appointment. No shampoo but she blowed dry her hair after the cut. $25 for womens haircut. Place was clean and everyone were wearing masks. When i got a perm they thought oh lets not cut 3 inches of his bangs with siccors, no lets cut it with chemicals instead and additionally give him bangs that will get split ends a week after a trim. Im not egen joking after couple days after i got it they mustve positioned the curling things wrong cause my hair was breaking right at the follicle maybe a mm above it and for like a month i was having to remove the broken and dead hairs. Even now, ive stopped getting tight perms and have gotten them as loose as possible but i got a trim a couple weeks ago and guess what? I have split ends again! Also im kinda annoyed that they diddnt put chlorophyl into my hair or whatever makes it smell less, it smelled a lot like tuna mixed with hair eating chemicals. New to Folsom and am glad to find a local salon for a quick men's haircut. I called in for an appointment since I do not know how busy it will be and Julie said I'll be next so I can just come right now without an appointment. When I got there, another gentleman walk in the store right before me so I was resetting expectation that there will be some wait for me. When I headed in, Julie asks if I am the one who called. I told her yes, and she then walk up to the gentleman before me and let him know that I'll be next before him since I had an appointment scheduled. The gentleman understood and said he will come back later. TBH, I was surprised since I didn't really make an appointment but she handles the situation really well! While I am the kind of guy who don't care too much about my hair, I can see Julie was asking her client if they are satisfy throughout and she will adjust if they want shorter or longer etc. When it's my turn, she even apologized to me about the 10mins wait as she is the only hair dresser today. Love this place. They always do a great job with my kids' haircuts. We've been coming here consistently for a few years now. This is a low key, chill place without high maintenance frilly people or attitudes. Love it. They're consistent, reliable, organized and now nearly medical office clean (which is way beyond my expectations for a haircut place). It makes me so relieved to see a sign saying "FACE MASK REQUIRED". They wear face mask, face shield, gloves, scrub caps, aprons. They also have the door open for increased ventilation. This place did a really good job, actually knew what was being done instead of improvising and took their time to get the important details / not try the fastest/laziest techniques to rush through another customer in which compared to other places would often leave an imperfect spot that you'd have to wait until the next haircut to fix. And the customer service was on point! Had my fair share of apathetic or straight condescending stylists elsewhere. Beware!! This salon has no business cutting women's hair. By the time she said she couldn't actually do what I requested, she's already cut a whack out out the FRONT of my hair. I'd taken a pic in of a hairstyle I've had several times, a shorter version of what I walked in there with, and AFTER STARTING, told me my hair "wouldn't do that". Left with a blunt shoulder length mop. I've been getting my long hair cut for 30 years, she clearly does not cut ladies hair. That said, several men walked in/out and their hair looked great.
