My favorite hair stylist Mai came over starting November 2022 from Finecuts just down the street. She's been cutting my son's hair since he was 2 years old and she is very gentle, patient, and respectful. My haircuts are always consistent and she is very friendly. They even have toys for my son to play with while we waited a few minutes for our turn. She works there everyday except Wednesdays now. As a bonus she speaks mandarin and Vietnamese, so we often strike up a friendly conversation about each other's family. She makes getting haircut feel like going to family. I'll be bringing my daughter soon when she becomes closer to 2 years old. When you go see her, be sure to let her know Dr Shen sent you! Did I mention it's even cheaper here than finecuts by 2-3 dollars?! I still pay Mai the same price with tips since transition to another location surely is hard on business. read more

I have never had a poor experience with Mai or the other staff. I find that when something does go sideways it's always because somehow communication failed. I've been coming here since the pandemic in 2020 when regular haircuts were $11 (more than half off the other barbers in town). The staff are primarily Vietnamese and my favorite is Lan. I'm prior service with the US army so I appreciate a good short haircut. Today Le did my haircut as Lan is on vacation. Haircuts are now $13 but still way below other places. I can get two of my boy's hair cut for the same price as one cut compared to other fancier places. We drive up from Sacramenro every month or so because it's a no frills. However, beware. There is one lady that cuts hair horribly. She must did not listen to how my son wanted and seems new to haircutting because she butchered his hair and I've been fixing it all weekend. A co-worker gave me the recommendation to come here and for me, I'm very iffy about going to a new place to cut my hair. My original barber has been out and I needed a back up, this place was close to work so I gave this place a shot. Upon entering, I highly suggest that people take a look around the shop before choosing to get your haircut here. They have a sign that says "NO REQUESTING BARBERS" so whoever is there to cut your hair, will cut your hair. I'm okay with this as long as everyone can cut hair constantly, but not everyone is the same. Looks like prices have increased the last year by a dollar from the reviews before. They charge $7.99 for a fade of 1, 2, and 3 but a dollar more ($8.99) for a 0 fade. If your kid cries then they have a fixed $20 fee which I didn't confirm if it was real or not. There was only two people when I went, and I had a gentleman cut my hair. He did a pretty good job and listened to what I wanted to get cut. I felt right at home at this shop, it's like every other $6.99 and up haircut establishment. Classic James Dean and Marilyn Monroe posters with Judge Judy on the TV. The guy who cut my hair took his time, fine tuned it based on my feedback and helped me understand what would and wouldn't work. I initially showed him a picture of what I wanted and we ended up with a different look more along the lines of what I usually get. Never hurts to try something new. What this guy said about how my hair runs is what every barber for the last 5 years have said. I usually spend in the neighborhood of $25-30 for a cut. This is coupled with cash only payments and an hour wait before the haircut. All of my past haircuts have been amazing but being on a tight budget a haircut tends to be the last thing I want to spend my money on. I also like wearing hats. This place I was in and out in 40 minutes or so and they have a toy area for my kid. They take card and cash. I also left happy for $13....9 for the cut and tip. Yeah this place may not look trendy and it may not have the current barbershop culture. But it's affordable enough where I can budget more than 1 haircut every 6-8 weeks. read more

I have been going to the Folsom shop for over four years and for the most part have been happy with the cuts I have gotten. But yesterday has changed my mind. I walked in and saw two men and one women stylist. One of the men has cut my hair several times and is not my favorite person to cut my hair. The woman is one who I have seen before and was happy with her cuts. The man who cut my hair is someone have not seen before. He asked what I wanted and he cut to my suggestion.... Then he continues to cut my hair the way he wanted to cut it. Waaaayyy shorter than I like. I may as well have gotten a buzz cut. For my opinion, stay away from the men who cut here and you will get a good cut. I may have gotten my last cut here. read more

me and my family always get our haircut but every freaking time there is a new stylist cuttng our hair. we cant choose a stylist whom we know better, and because of this the consistency doesnt remain the same.
