Our experience was not what we expected. 1- we made an appointment and they were behind 25 min 2-they have signs that drinks are offered, no one offered them 3-my brother asked if he could have a hot wet towel before razor as he always gets it at a different place and he was told that he had "though skin" and he didn't need it. 4-the person "styling" his beard kept asking him if it was ok already making him feel he was being rushed. At the end my brother could have done a better job at home. I try gifting him this visit as a "treat". It wasn't. Very disappointing! read more

For some reason, none of the employees wear masks here, despite the Sacramento County health order. They also told me that they are not vaccinated. One of the employees was recently out for two weeks because they had Covid! This is what happens when people don't take the health guidelines seriously. I really think the employees should be wearing masks when they are in close proximity with all of their customers! It's for their protection. However, they do do great work. We live in Fremont (Bay Area) and travel 2 hours every couple weeks to see Andrew and Kendra. Andrew is very friendly and patient with my 6 year old son and Kendra is the sweetest and takes her time on my picky husbands hair. They both make you feel like family. So this place is just OK. Good work, they tout themselves as some sort of premium experience, however the few times I've been there - it's just a barber shop. There's a seating area, there's barber's chairs and a completely empty bar of which they told me I could get a drink or beer or something on my way out - instead of in the beginning when I was waiting for 20 minutes for my appointment. Now, that said - the page and site also say "walk-ins welcome" however when I have made a couple appointments and this time did not, I did walk-in and was looked at with disdain when they scorned me for not making an appointment - after I sat for 15 minutes politely waiting. In a pinch, it will do. It's pricey, kinda snobby for what it is and at this point I'll keep driving back to Sacramento to see my decade-plus old regular. I moved out here and tried to find a local barber - but pretentious and pricey don't mix. Johnny's and now Antonio's in mid-town is actually worth the drive. I get straight razor treatment so consider my comments in that context. When DannIe was there I got a great shave from neck to dome but alas she is retired. Subsequent visit was a disaster. I was charged $60 and treated to cold towels, a dull razor, and an obnoxious aftershave. I went home to shower off the stink an redo the shave. It completely depends on who you get. First I must start out by saying that Whitney and Andrew, are true perfectionists and take pride in their work, and it shows. Today, I was scheduled with "Barber" Will, who had an availability today, since Whitney was out on medical leave. I was hoping that Will would be as skilled, and meticulous as Whitney, and Andrew both are. Boy WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE! My Son's haircut was a MESS! We asked for a Faux Hawk, showed him a photo of my son's haircut, and what we received was a FAUX PAS! My Son's sideburns were no longer sideburns, there were long strands of hair, and short strands, nothing was uniform, even, or blended correctly. He cut up and along the back of my son's ears, taking way too much hair off of one side, and blaming the inconsistencies, in his work on my son's "natural" hairline. When I brought it to his attention and showed him how uneven everything was, he made excuses, and would not acknowledge what a poor job he did, or take an ounce of accountability. On the contrary, he said it looked fine. Thankfully Andrew (the owner) could see that clearly, the haircut was not up to par and a MESS! He graciously offered to fix what he could, and thankfully he was able to make my son's hair even and uniform. Unfortunately, the sideburns were ruined, and the areas up along the back of my son's ear couldn't be fixed. However, it looked 100x better than what "Barber" Will had done. I do not recommend taking your teenager, kids, etc to Will, or you will be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Also, the one-star rating is solely for WILL. Nice atmosphere and some "free" drinks, to include wine and beer, while you wait. The haircut was steeper than what I'm used to. It starts out at $26 for a haircut. Then they added a $4 charge for a simple fade because "the fade required blending". No kidding. A simple fade seems pretty standard to me but apparently there's an up charge to the already steep price. I think the price has to include the loss for the "free wine and beer". The haircut wasn't bad. So no big complaints there. But four dollars extra for a fade? I was waiting for a charge on use of scissors and a cleaning charge from the use of barbicide as well. read more

We decided on the Barber Lounge after reading all the great reviews. We picked the right place! The Barber Lounge is clean and well organized. We didn't have appointments and was willing to wait. However, we didn't have to wait at all. Sunny cut my hair and was very attentive to what I wanted. It was a really hot day, and the beer was a great addition to the haircut. I got a decent cut here but I made an appointment with someone and they gave me someone else when I got there. I'm the type who likes to stick with a specific barber each time I get a cut. I liked the guy I got but knowing that even if I make an appointment with him I could just get anyone is a dealbreaker for me. Decided to go to a real barbershop to get a quality cut after going to Supercuts for the last several years. I needed an update in hairstyle because it was stuck in the late 1990's...picture Matt Damon from "Good Will Hunting". The barber Dannie cut my hair. I communicated with her my dilemma. She offered to "do her thing" to my hair. I agreed because that is what Jason Bourne would have done. She gave me a modern cut that looks good. My wife loves my new hair. With the good there is the bad. I realized they serve beer at the Barber Lounge. I was not offered a beer. NOT COOL!!!! I am still hurt about it and more importantly still thirsty. Besides that. Wow! So that is what it's like to get a "nice" haircut! I have to say, I've been a SuperCuts, budget haircut guy my whole life. Mostly because I don't know jack about hair or what looks good. I decided it was about time that I got a decent haircut as so I made an appointment online with Andrew (which was super convenient). I had a little bit of an idea of what I wanted, but nothing specific. He listened to my feedback gave me some suggestions and then I let him do his thing. Detailed review below: 10:30am appointment today with Andrew (the owner). Arrived at 10:25am, was told by the young lady behind the desk that he would be right in. 10:40am: He comes in. with 5 starbucks drinks in his hands. Doesn't acknowledge me. Walks in the back. 10:50am: 20 minutes have passed. Losing my patience sitting there waiting for him to come out of the back. Asked the young lady behind the desk if she can check in with him. She goes in the back and comes right back out and says he will be right with me in a bit. 11:05am: I walk to the young lady, and asked her what exactly is going on since I have been waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time. She tells me he is on the phone in the back. He comes storming out while he's on his phone and starts yelling at me like a maniac for ASKING why its taking so long. I guess he over heard me. He tells me "My wife and kids are in Disney land and my credit cards aren't working, I have to deal with this first. if you can't wait, then go somewhere else". I tell him calmly "You could've told me earlier so I wouldn't have waited 30 minutes", He widened his eyes and told me to go somewhere else if I can't wait. He leaves to the back again. At this point, i'm disgusted. I calmly tell the young lady that they should respect their customers time too. I had plans for the entire day and this was my only day off. I told her im just going to leave. She responds by saying "I'm so sorry I understand, it sounds like he's almost off of the phone, so you might as well wait another minute for the haircut since you've already been here for so long". I agreed with her. A few seconds later, he comes out, and starts wiping down the chair. I wait. He walks up to me face to face and says, "You think I'm going to give you a cut after that?" I just put my hands up and i said okay never mind. And walked out. I'm still disgusted with the way I was treated. I didn't say one rude thing to this guy. If a customer is getting frustrated asking why its taking 30-45 minutes, and you're in the back on your phone, you should seriously consider how you are going to deescalate the situation when you walk out. You shouldn't come out and start yelling at your customer for asking. There's millions of other ways to proceed. After 2 visits to the Lounge, seeing Kendra, I will not be returning. I arrived on time, having made an appointment the day before, and ended up waiting 15+ minutes - although the beer did help me with the wait. Kendra was nice enough and did a fine job trimming the hair on my scalp, but she did a very poor job with my beard and eyebrows. She did a rush job on the lower part of my beard with trimmers, literally left one side of my moustache 1 inch longer than the other, and completely forgot my eyebrows. By the end of the cut I was pretty eager to leave and finished the job at home. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone based on my experience. Other clients that were there seemed to have a better experience. Maybe she cares more about her regulars, but I won't become one. read more

Our son has hated haircuts for as long as he's been getting them and we've done our fair share of barber hopping to find the right fit, from those cheesy kid places, to the chain haircut places to barbers all over town and even went the at-home mom haircut route, but for some reason he has hated every single one until we came here.
