My haircuts are always consistent and she is very friendly. They even have toys for my son to play with while we waited a few minutes for our turn. She works there everyday except Wednesdays now. As a bonus she speaks mandarin and Vietnamese, so we often strike up a friendly conversation about each other's family. She makes getting haircut feel like going to family. I'll be bringing my daughter soon when she becomes closer to 2 years old. When you go see her, be sure to let her know Dr Shen sent you! Did I mention it's even cheaper here than finecuts by 2-3 dollars?! I still pay Mai the same price with tips since transition to another location surely is hard on business.

I came with first time mom hands (dried and cracked) and after the massage my hands look much younger and doesn't look chapped. Athena has extensive experience in what she does and she does it with a smile and grace. It was her first day at work here and she didn't seem stressed out. She's the only stylist I've ever had who dries and straightens my hair FIRST before cutting and it makes all the difference. My hair hasn't looked this good in years and I've tried both of the other "fancy" hair salons in EDH Town Center, as well as $300 salons in Seattle where I used to live. It's easy to make an appointment with her via text and I haven't had to wait more than a few days to get her next appointment. In addition, my hair is about 25% grey and I'm leaving it natural, and Tiffany was the only stylist here in CA who didn't "gently suggest" that I should color it to cover it up. I really appreciate that about her, even though that doesn't seem to be the norm around here. IMO her price is beyond reasonable for the detail-oriented work she does. I hope she never leaves me :)

What I can say is the communication from the owner is extremely lacking. I sent the business a direct message through Facebook indicating I would love to set up an appointment for a haircut. The person who got back to me identified herself as the owner, and basically said she was on a trip, and asked if I could text her about my appointment request a few days later when she returned. I already thought that was odd... Shouldn't she have reached out to me after she returned? Couldn't she have recommended one of her stylists to assist me in her absence? But, I did as told... Texting her upon her return and again explaining what I needed, in hopes of setting an appointment. I texted her in the morning... She didn't get back to me till in the early evening. When she did, she addressed me with a completely misspelled name (unprofessional), and gave one option for a particular day and time which I couldn't make. I texted her back right away, explaining that the day she was offering was my birthday, and would therefore be pretty busy. She finally responded hours later, late into the evening saying that she would see if she had availability on another day after she got back into the shop the next day and looked at the schedule... Never heard back. Does it really need to be this hard? Seriously don't have time for this kind of jerking around. Easily made an appointment at another local reputable salon... I have a feeling I will be much happier with the outcome there.

She cleaned up my mess of a head and the change was TRULY TRANSFORMATIVE!!! I've always been blonde but the majority of my hair is now white. She did not cut my hair the way I showed her even though I showed her very specific photos. She used the blade of the scissors to basically razor my curly, thick hair. When I asked questions or pointed things out she'd cut it more for some reason. I figured I'd give it a day and make sure it wasn't just the way she styled it or how it was dried. After the day, it was, of course, still bad. I sent Jen the owner, who is very sweet, a message about having another stylist take a look at it, since she was the one who referred me. I felt and looked horrible. I did not message Amber because I thought she would take it personally and wig out- I was right. Amber called me at 9 in the evening! Then sent a series of rude messages accusing me of scamming her, which she deducted from my "character"- the only thing I talked about, when she wasn't talking over me about how she picks her nose and showing me explicit photos, was how I had surgery in Beverly Hills and that I volunteer as an English teacher for new American children. So by "character", she really meant non-White and brown skinned. I've never encountered such a disgusting display of ineptitude of skill, professionalism, and basic social and common sense. For someone of her advanced age, it is egregious to receive such horrible customer service and disrespectful communication. She did not apologize and instead played coy and told me to "calm down" and that I was "off the rails" when I calmly asked for my money back and she needed to respond for her rude messages. I got my hair recut beautifully by JOYCE SONG in SoCal, who said as she cut my hair "Did they take a razor to your head? Oh my God, why would someone do this? This is not how you cut hair."
