From the waiting room through the curtained doorway to a place where it's all about me and being pampered and beautified.
    Peace B.

I've been going to Salon Elizabeth for over 15 years. I am a fan. Elizabeth and Yelena cater to my needs and make reasonable recommendations that I've never been disappointed in. Today I decided to try their new machine that uses IPL (intense pulsed light) technology. I'd heard good things about it, but never thought it might be for me. I've got to say after having tried it, it IS for me. I went in with Yelena for my usual eye brow wax and eye lash tint along with a facial. (She does an excellent job.) With her darling Russian accent she explained quite clearly how IPL works. I opted to have two settings, one for rejuvenation and the other for enhancing pigmentation I think it was called... basically working on getting rid of some brown (age) spots that are annoying and something I've been thinking I'll just live with. Not anymore!! Ideally, they recommend 6-8 treatments I think, but just one was enough to show improvement in my overall skin tone. I really liked the way my skin felt and looked. I'm not exactly sure how it works scientifically... but from everything I've read, it's pretty darn safe (way better than going under the knife), and... it didn't hurt. Here's how it worked... first Yelena put a type of cream on my face to act as a buffer between the applicator and my face. Then there's a paddle type thingie she placed on my face segment by segment while pulses of light are "zapped" onto each segment until my entire face and neck are "zapped". My eyes were covered but I could see the light flashing through. It's bright, but no biggie. The applicator thingie was slightly warm with each pulse, but never hot. Honestly, now that I know what it's like, I could easily doze off during this treatment. And the best thing was that it took only about 10-15 minutes. I'm including a photo of the IPL machine... pretty boring looking really, but it gets the job done. I'm definitely going back for more.

Some serious dermal happiness going on here.

I bought a Groupon for laser. I shouldn't have wasted my money. The service was ineffective at best and the service was lackluster.

The rooms temperature was comfortable and the blankets were soft and warm. My main review is for Sara who provided a 60 minute deep tissue massage that exceeded my expectations! Now, she isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea, especially if you're expecting a relaxing pampering massage to fall asleep. I appreciate that type of massage, but this time I came in with acute back pain. She honed in and went right to it. Honestly, at first it seemed rougher, but it was clear her expertise provided the relief I needed. I did not even mention any other pain points but as she worked, she identified three other pain areas that I've been dealing with for months. That's how I knew she has a keen understanding of how the body should move and feel, and the skill to guide my muscles/fascia back to where they should be to be able to function properly and without pain. She adjusted her technique as she felt my body could tolerate (e.g. she threw in some Thai massage technique to lengthen and stretch at the end). After 60 minutes, my pain levels reduced significantly from 7/10 to 2/10. I couldn't believe it! My heel pain of six months was gone! She is one of two therapists I've had in my life that actually healed my body's aches. If you want to be rejuvenated, I highly recommend Sara at Saigon Spa!

This isn't a fancy place so if you're looking for something a bit more upscale or luxurious, I would skip this place. This place is however a good option if you're looking for a deal of a massage and want to treat yourself without spending too much (I suggest checking Groupon to see if this place is still offering any discounts). I called for an appointment mid-week and was able to get an appointment for the upcoming Sunday. The inside looks a bit better than the exterior. Pulling up to the parking kind of looks like you've pulled up to a small apartment complex for businesses and you'll find the spa upstairs from the small parking lot. I'd rate the massage itself about 3 stars. The masseuses were speaking to each other in another language at full speaking volume during the massage a couple of times. It gave me the similar feeling of when I go get my nails done and am insecure if something is being said about me (except usually I expect even less chatter during a massage compared to getting my nails done). Compared to other massage spas I've been to, there were no aromas for relaxation that I noticed, nor were there any special beverages offered before the massage. They do give you a small paper cup of water after the massage. Overall, if you're doing the Groupon deal then it's worth coming here, but if it's for full price, I'd consider other options. Also be prepared to bring cash for tip, and if you're doing the Groupon then they ask to tip off the full price instead of discounted price.
