I went here twice and really enjoyed the process. The esthetician listened to my concerns, the place was clean and relaxing, and the dark, calming environment was perfect for unwinding. My skin looked super glowy afterward, and the extractions were excellent. However, I did find the price point quite high, especially since I'd expect that level of pricing from a larger, more luxurious salon that offers extra amenities like coffee or a fancy atmosphere. After months of pushing out my treatment, I finally made it! I was so happy to be seen by Katherine on a Wednesday afternoon. I was pretty much her last client of the day. She's super knowledgeable and was very nice. I loved her vibe and the ambience of her treatment room. I fell asleep immediately. She told me I had sensitive skin and that I do have some visible capillaries on my cheek, which is something I've always noticed. She also told me that she did a few extractions and my face is a lot better. Which I completely agree with! My next appointment would be around 4-8 weeks for the same treatment. Yun took the time to analyze my skin needs and decided that the microdermabrasion facial was the way to go. Not only did she address my skin needs but she also offered advice on how to maintain my skin till our next appointment. Within 3 appointments I can see a difference in my face. My skin texture has become soften, my acne scars are fading, and my acne has gone down a but. * I have concerns with acne scars, texture, and acne. I also have combo skin but on the oiler side.* At every appointment, I can subtly see my skin improving- with the advice she gives me on how to maintain and keep my skin under control. *I also appreciate how I don't feel pressured to buy anything or a particular brand. Update review in the times of covid. I had been going to Katherine for my facials since October of last year. As I mentioned in my last review, I was going consistently (once a month) and my skin was improving so much! My last appointment with her pre-covid was in March of this year. During the period since my last facial until now (September), my skin had literally gone downhill - like a burning car flying off a cliff. This was due to stress from work (who knew working from home would result in longer hours...), not exercising like I used to, and all the craziness going on in the world. It seriously did a number on my skin. Great news is that Katherine is now back in business and I had a MUCH needed appointment with her today. She has taken the extra steps regarding health/safety and sanitizing protocols. As soon as I walked in (I was wearing a mask), I was given some hand sanitizer and she checked my temperature with a no touch thermometer. Katherine herself is wearing a mask as well as a face shield. She let me know when it was okay for me to remove my mask before we started. The whole time I was getting my facial, I felt safe and at ease. I know it sounds silly but getting the facial gave me nostalgia of times before covid... I received a facial from Sunny. She's super friendly and clearly knows what she is doing. She took her time and I really felt like she was focused on doing a good job. When our hour was almost up, she asked me if it was alright we ran over on time so she could make sure she was able to finish the facial and not rush. The only thing that wasn't great was I had to pay an extra $20 for extractions. I felt like it was money well-spent; however, I wish that it was listed on the website. Sunny was amazing. I have been suffering from hyper sensitive skin and last week my face was extra red and flaky. She quickly attended to all my skin concerns and thoroughly treated my face with very detailed instructions on what to do at home to calm my face. My face was instantly calmed down and her home care recommendation (not to use any sticky gel or waxy type of liquid to use on my skin to minimize irritation & other useful tips) worked beautifully. Not sure about service, but mostly was disappointed on the interaction of blame put on me and cancelling my appointment, without as much sending me any email or text about cancellation, wasting my time. I had booked an appointment at a specific time/day based on Yun's message on yelp on availability. Then, I received an automated message previous day confirming my appointment, and when I arrived, she said it's cancelled and that I had given the wrong phone number, even though she pulled my right number on the phone. She said she sent an email which on checking later , did have info that I need to deposit but has no cancellation notice either or information that it will be cancelled without deposit. Instead of saying how their apps may have gotten it wrong in this scheduling mix up, she kept insisting it's my fault by saying there is a 40$ deposit which was not mentioned at the time of booking of the appointment. read more

I made an appointment for 4:30pm on a Sat at 9am on the same day through it's website. I got an email confirmation and arrived on time, but found an empty shop - no customers, no facial specialists, even the lights are off. I called the number listed on the door and no one answered. The lady at the hair salon called perhaps the cellphone of the business owner for me and finally reached her. I was told she "thought the appointment was cancelled". She can probably be here in 20 mins. I have other appointments afterwards so decided to leave instead. I'm not sure how this business operates and how it got these 5 star reviews, but I don't think I'll come back again. read more

You have to walk in towards the back and you will see her shop. She is very thorough and knows A LOT about skin and products in general. I spent 75 minutes with her and I learned a lot! I've been to Sunny twice for a facial and I've been so happy with the service and results. For reference, I'm 30 years old and have very sensitive, combination skin. Sunny has taken great care to make sure that she didn't use any harsh products. I haven't experienced any flare ups after each facial; on the contrary, my face looks less red and more refreshed. I have been seeing Katherine for facials since last summer when I had just moved to the Bay Area -- hands down, she is the best facialist I have ever received treatment from! When Katherine told me that she will be opening up her own place in Sunnyvale, I was so relieved and glad. During the few months that I didn't get to see her, of course, my skin definitely was not at its best. Here are a few reasons why I would strongly, whole-heartedly recommend her services to anyone: (1) She only uses high-end, premium products (GM Collins) for her facials. Being a huge skincare product junkie, I've had my share of experiences with various products, and GM Collins is definitely one of the high-end, professionally-used skincare brand that is less well known to most people. You can even buy any of the products Katherine uses directly from her as well. I purchased the Essential Oil, which I can use for spot treatment on acne trouble spots and it's worked wonders. (2) She does not cut short on the 1.5 hour for facials. With this said, her facials are SUPER thorough. I stopped asking her what she's doing to my face during my facial, because I trust that she is doing what's best for my skin. Every time I've had facials, she examines my face and determines what treatments are needed. (3) She is knowledgeable... and continues to educate herself on the latest techniques, products, etc. I've asked her what she does to keep up-to-date on all the latest skincare fads / trends / introductions of new products -- she says she attends conferences and researches to educate herself. Unlike some facialists I've worked with where I received a rotating cycle of several facials, I can entrust Katherine to identify the latest and the best products and treatment methods for my skin. (4) Her price is reasonable. It's definitely not cheap, but for ALL that she does during a facial session... the price tag is very, very reasonable.
