I'm always weary about new stylist and someone dealing with my very thick & long hair, but Arlene got the job done beautifully! She had an assistant as well who did a wonderful job helping Arlene throughout the whole process. Arlene is also one of the owners of the salon. I received a keratin treatment which there are several different kinds you can get, and it would be best to call in and talk with someone to figure out what suits your hair best. The salon is very clean and trendy! Love the interiors design as well as all the updated salon supplies and appliances. The bathroom was clean and everyone was following mask guidelines due to the current times we are in. Updating my five star review with another five star review. I've been to Salon Ciseaux several times now. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My stylist Sterling is a sweetheart. She's got a great memory too- I went in February 2021 and sent my sister many months, & my sister said I referred her and she remembered me well. She gives good feedback and recommendations and has helped me improve my hair health a bunch. I love the policy the salon has for your first cut to let you come back for a re-check in two weeks. It's excellent service. I live across the state now but drove back recently to get my shave touched up and to change the shaping on my cut. Very disappointed with my service at Salon Ciseaux. I hadn't received any reminders about my hair appointment, so I called the salon at 1:27 PM to confirm that I still had my 2 PM that I had scheduled on my last trim back last November. They confirmed I was scheduled for 2 PM and would see me soon. I arrived to the salon 10 minutes before my appointment time at 1:50 PM and checked in, asking the receptionist how much my trim would cost. She replied that it would be $110. I objected, explaining that I only needed at quick trim and no styling. She then quoted me $85, unless my stylist Arlene ended up doing more than just a trim. So I was reluctantly in agreement to the $85 (which is still a bit high for just a quick trim). I sat and waited for my 2 PM appointment until Arlene finally came to get me at 2:32 PM -- 32 minutes past my appointment time. Arlene proceeded to give me a dry trim, after I explained to her that I didn't want any length cut off, as I'm trying to grow my hair longer, but that I only came in because she had advised me to get trims every 3-4 months to keep it in shape and healthy while growing it out. Arlene snipped for about 10 minutes or so, then rubbed a little mousse on my dry hair and sent me to checkout. I had requested two products (Ouidad Curl Quencher and Wella hair mask). The receptionist explained that my total was $205.83 and she asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I asked her how much of that was the cost of the trim. She replied that the trim was $110 and the products were $85 (I assume before tax). I questioned the amount, asking "For just a trim?" and she said "Yes." I declined including a tip because 1) I felt I was overcharged for what little I got; and 2) my appointment was over 30 minutes late. Arlene spent less than 16 minutes on my hair, from 2:32 PM when she got me from their waiting area, until 2:48 PM is the time stamped on my receipt after checkout (see image of receipt), charging me $110 for a simple trim, without a wash, dry or styling. Since I left without styling, I immediately threw my hair into a high pony, since it wasn't at all attractive looking (see included pics). I feel I was grossly overcharge for what I got, as well as, my time being disrespected. I just don't feel 16 minutes of the stylists's time was worth $110 of my money for a simple trim. I was a client at this salon over the last 10 years, but never have I felt so taken advantage of and disappointed, which is why I'm leaving this review :( read more

My hair is very thick! I blew it out straight for years. It's not really straight nor is it curly. With the help of Cathy, it's actually wavy and pretty! I don't kill myself anymore blowing it out straight just to walk outside and see frizz!!!! I save so much time now and I love my hair! The cut lasts a long time too...if it wasn't for this grey hair...I wouldn't be there as often as I am! I also mani/pedis at Salon Ciseaux! Arlene and Cathy run an excellent salon, and although my haircut is simple and takes about 15 minutes, they've been taking care of people I know well (e.g., Mom) for many years who have much more involved hair situations, and the quality is consistent over all that time. Lemme just say, this was my first time coming into the salon and it was a little overwhelming due to all the hurricane commotion. A lot of people were being squeezed in before the inevitable, which I understand. I originally went in for a dry deva cut, but I didn't actually receive that... I kinda expected that, given the texture of my hair and how dramatically different I wanted my hair. My stylist Arlene was very nice and positive! She provided me a lot of helpful guidance for future routines, as did the other lovely ladies in the salon that washed/styled my curls. Nobody hesitated to ask me if I needed water/wine, which was so sweet. I could see there were some veteran customers in there and after my visit, I can see why! My ONLY complaint (and reason for removing a star) is that I wish I hadn't still been charged for the Deva Cut, as I didn't actually get that experience... I really got a normal cut/style. Thankfully, I had a Yelp Coupon for it being my first visit. That's my only "meh" experience, but I plan to return back! UPDATE 9/12/19 - These ladies definitely deserve their stars. I updated my previous review as an appreciation of their fantastic service. I had a two-week recheck done today, and the atmosphere in the salon was much calmer. That immediately put me at ease, which Arlene furthered by listening to the small updates I wanted to the cut. I got my deva cut with Arlene while I was in town for my work trip. She did a great job. I was able to take tome before the cut to explain to her the style I had in mind. So also mentioned to her my current products weren't working as well and she recommended some other products for me that I love! Everyone at the salon was very professional and I thought the price for the cut was reasonable ($89, I've paid more for deva cuts at other salons) Another thing I liked about her salon is they allow you to come back a week or two after the initial cut for a touch up. I was able to come back a week later to make any small adjustment. If I'm ever in the Orlando area again I'll be visiting this salon for another curly cut read more

I was in tears before I got to my car. The WORST haircut of my life. Shampoo in my face/eye, no record of me in their "system" despite this being my third (and now last) appointment, and was handed off to a "great" stylist who was multi-tasking with another client. Arlene W. ruined my hair and it will take at least a year to grow back out. She seemed to ask all the right questions and say all the right things, and then proceeded to give me exactly the opposite of what we discussed. A 2-3 inch trim ended up being 6 inches off my curly hair. Due to the way she was cutting it, it wasn't apparent how much she had taken off until it was too late. I cannot put it in a ponytail or pull it back in any way. I have unwanted side bangs that fall in my face no matter what. Straightening my hair is also unhelpful since she cut it SO short, and the cut isn't meant to be worn straight and looks ragged at the bottom. I told Arlene (who happens to be one of the OWNERS) I wasn't happy and was unsure I would be able to style my hair in a workable way. She then minimized my feedback by saying "You're young - it looks good, you'll figure something out." What?? Apparently this salon is known for being good with curls. FALSE. So i finally decided to go ahead with this deva cut. I looked online and found this salon. I had been planning for months to do this but always chickened out. Finally decided to just bite the bullet and call on a Friday to schedule for same day. Luckily they had an opening. Emily was my stylist. I was super nervous but obviously excited to get rid of my dead weight. The salon had tons of curly stylist so my nerves slowly went away. I met Emily my stylist (who ironically did not have any curls) but when I spoke with her she sounded confident about her skills so I trusted her. And am I glad I did. She did an amazing job cutting out all my dead weight and left me with the curls that I had as a child!!!!! The salon itself is pretty cool and quaint...easy on off access to i4...easy to find...the stylist all seemed pretty friendly and I loved all their retro styles. The reason for the 4 stars and not the 5 is because I left without any idea of what products to buy..I mean they told me while I was in the salon and showed me but in the spur of the moment and after a drastic change you forget once your out the doors...I would've liked to have gotten my stylist business card with her recommendations for my hair...oh well maybe I'll take a notebook next time so I won't forget... read more

Absolutely the best experience I have had getting my hair done. Brace yourself this may be long buuuut needed... Two weeks ago I decided as a new mom, master degree student, daughter and wife, I needed some TLC. I made a appointment with Bonne Vie Salon in Winter Park. I wanted a Brazilian Blowout to make styling my hair manageable as my hair is very curly and thick. Which I knew... I've had my hair for a good 32 years, I think I know what it can and can't do. I just wanted a cut and style with anti-frizz, a treatment to help make styling easier. I went to that salon, and was told basically that's not what I wanted, moved from chair to chair and told at the end they couldn't do anything for me and my hair. After the initial shock and anger had subsided at how I was treated, I decided to make another phone call and decided I would not ever go back to that place. On the way to my first appointment I passed Salon Ciseaux so decided to google and then call them. Turns out that was the best decision I could have made. I talked to Sterling, told her my hair type and what I wanted and what had just happened. Her response: I can take care of you, you are not a problem here. Immediately walking in I felt comfortable and attended to. I was offered a drink and even complimented on my curls. She listened to me and came up with a solution. She knew I wore my hair curly at times but also knew I loved wearing it straight a majority of the time and cut and styled to that scenario. She offered me products to help with either styling and she didn't put an ounce of straightening treatment to my hair. She styled it so well I was surprised that it hadn't been a relaxing treatment. She discussed options and made me feel that I was beautiful styling it straight or curly. Embrace the curls! Was the essence of her conversation and next time I think I will! I left feeling good, and listened to. I left feeling finally that I had a place to get my hair done without feeling like the client no one wanted to attempt to do. I've never gotten color in my hair before so I'm not very knowledgeable on what would look right for my skin tone and all of that; I left it to Allie's discretion and wow she did an amazing job. I come here once every month or so to get dandruff treatment and blowouts. My stylist is named Natalia and she's extremely nice and friendly. I enjoy her cheery mood and my hair always comes out looking beautiful. This salon can work on any type of hair. I have had hair stylists roll their eyes or sigh because my hair is so thick and curly that they don't want to deal with it, but this place deals with all hair types, and promote curly hair as well as straight blowouts. They can do different style braids and up-dos. I had my hair done for sunset music festival and they did a great job. Second time, I felt like nothing was done other than sell me quidad products. Third time, Arlene cut a chunk out of my left side. Then proceeded to tell me she was going to make it Curley when I asked for her to blow it out. When I got home, washed it and flat ironed it - I saw why she didn't want to straighten it. Huge shelf on my left side. Major chunk of hair gone. I'm talking about a three inch jump. I refuse to go back to her. I'm done. There are other great stylists in this town that know the Quidad cut. CURLY HEADS BEWARE I went to get my hair cut at Salon Ciseaux almost a month ago at this point. I waited this long to write a review to see if my opinion on my haircut was still the same...and it is. I absolutely HATE my hair. I went in to have my long (almost to the small of my back) and extremely curly hair cut. I asked for a Ouidad haircut (the cut this salon is supposed to specialize in). I asked to have my hair cut right above my shoulders. I told Arlene (my stylist) the reasoning behind the dramatic change was health related (my hair is falling out due to an autoimmune disease). I was hoping by cutting it shorter, my hair would look a bit healthier. Arlene cut my hair much shorter than I wanted (it currently sits just below my chin). As if that weren't bad enough, there was almost no carving and slicing done to my hair, my ends are horrendously thick and bulky, and my hair looks like a giant pyramid on my head (the pyramid effect was not noticed until the next day, as I had my hair styled straight). The salon sent an email review, where I expressed my distaste for my haircut. Arlene immediately contacted me and invited me to come back in, and have her fix my hair. I agreed. When I went back for the second time, Arlene told me she didn't do much carving and slicing because of my hair loss. Which would have been just fine with me, if I didn't look like a walking pyramid. Arlene carved and sliced my hair and tried to fix the thickness of the ends, and then styled my hair with the Ouidad rake and shake method and plenty of gel (after I repeatedly said do NOT put gel in my hair). I went home even more upset than when I came the first time, as I still hated my hair. Arlene did try to make up for the mishap by giving me an old dusty tube of some sort of leave in conditioner. I have had many, many Ouidad cuts before, and this is a piss poor example of one. I previously loved wearing my hair down and in its naturally curly state, and now I do not leave my house without it being pulled back into a tiny ponytail. I will never be going back to this salon, and am currently awaiting my hair to regain some length so I can return to my old stylist in Atlanta, GA and have her fix this mess. read more
