I am very disappointed. I went for a trim and to add some layers, which came out choppy and much shorter than we had agreed upon. While there, they said it would be an easy job to touch up the roots of my highlights- $90 (most expensive highlight touch up I've ever had the misfortune of getting- wish they had told me cost beforehand) and 2 hours later my hair has a horrid brassy color with a huge chunk of orange added in the front. Lastly, my hair was "styled" using thick layers of gel, mousse, and hairspray (despite my repeatedly saying I do not like having much product in my hair), in which it dried crispy and wet-looking/plastic. Everyone I saw after either joked about my hair or looked at me with sympathy. Will not return and have advised all who ask "What happened to your hair?" to stay away. As an update, the owner offered to fix my hair color and stated that their work is guaranteed (it's a shame they can't regrow hair). I have not had the time to return, nor a strong desire due to the negative first experience, so am unable to update the star rating substantially at this time. read more

I visited this Salon for a Dazzle Dry Manicure while I was on vacation in Orlando for a family wedding. I LOVE this place! The atmosphere is welcoming and you instantly feel relaxed walking in. The staff is all friendly and upbeat, clearly work well together and make you feel as though you aren't just a job they have to complete. The decorations are simple yet chic. I used to frequent another place in town for my haircuts but I stopped going as the price got out of hand (About $120 for a men's cut and color). I was pleasantly surprised when a friend referred me to Salon Ciseaux. I feel that the experience you encounter at a salon is just as important as the cut and color and I was not disappointed here. Salon Ciseaux is conveniently located just off I-4 at Wymore and Lee Road and is very easy to find. When I walked in I was greeted warmly and checked in. I met my team, my stylist Cathy and her assistant Niko. I was seated promptly and Cathy started on my hair. I gave her free reign as long as it looked good. She cut my hair first and commented how thick and beautiful my hair was. Niko went to mix the color as I wanted to cover up some gray and she said she would shoe shine some color in. I had never heard of this process and she took a foil and dabbed it onto my hair. After it set for about five minutes Niko applied the rest of the color painting it onto my head. After it set for about ten minutes it was time to rinse it out. This is my favorite part of getting a haircut, the head and neck massage you receive while getting your hair rinsed, shampooed and conditioned. This part can either go good or bad. Thankfully Niko had great strength in his hands and it was very relaxing. So relaxing that I'm tempted to go back just for that. After rinsing I went back to Cathy and she cut some more to get the style perfect and Niko applied wax and styled my hair. I asked was Ciseaux meant and was told it is French for scissors. I liked the friendly atmosphere and another guy was getting his hair cut going from long to short hair. His cut looked great and a few of his friends were hanging out and chatting as well. It was very comfortable and I will definitely be back. In fact, I think I have found a salon to call home and have another appointment scheduled in a month. I recommend you give the team at Salon Ciseaux a try. You won't be disappointed. They do have a website where you can make an appointment online however I like the more personal approach and use the phone. They will even call you the day before to remind you of your appointment. If you're not sure what you want done with your hair leave it to your styling team and they will make you look like a million bucks. Unlike a chain salon, Salon Ciseaux seems to really care about their clients and will engage you in conversation about what's going on in your life and personal service is what it's all about. Pros - The lady at the front desk was very friendly. She jumped up to tell me where the restroom was. Very attentive and lots of smiles. I was VERY happy with Orla and the wax she gave me. The best eyebrow job I've ever seen. She double checked her work a bunch of times and made sure I was happy. I liked the privacy of having it done in a personal room with music playing. Cons- The prices are high for getting your hair done but I was only there for a wax (like 50 bucks for a cut?). I didnt think the wax prices were high - 12 bucks for eyebrows is fine with me. Although, I'd bet they are worth the money as Orla did a good job and the ladies walking out how had pretty cuts so I'd spend the money there. Also, it's sort of in a trafficy area. This was definitely the best cut and style that I have ever had. She listens and is skilled at communicating with clients to make their vision a reality. I believe this will be my last time I will be coming here or maybe perhaps change my stylist... all I can say is that I have a terrible headache!!! I went for a wash and blow dry and the stylist literally was yanking at my head . I ask her was my hair to dry or tangled for her. She reply yes. I have natural curls.. anyone knows you don't brake apart or yank through curls.. even when my hair was being washed I can hear her just popping my hair. I would think as a stylist , you would use a product or recommended a hot oil treatment if a client hair is that dry. I also felt as I was being rushed because she had another client waiting for her in the chair next to Me. Which explains why my hair was being pulled and not probably managed. I shouldn't feel like a burden to my stylist. This is a nice place with friendly people, but perhaps I just have the wrong stylist. I shouldn't had went home with a tender head . First time and I'm a fan! I have Kinky Curly hair and was looking to give my hair some life, shape, or something to make me fall in love with it again. I made my appointment with Arlene, the owner of the Salon (not sure if she is sole owner or co-owner) to get a Deva Cut because I had heard other naturalistas raving about it. I was instructed to come with "naked" hair - no products, gels, creams, etc in my hair. Arrival - I arrive to the salon and was greeted warmly as a customer should be treated when arriving. I filled out a "get to know me" form - name, addy, etc. I waited for 5 minutes and then was seen by Arlene. We then had a 5 to 10 minute consultation about what I love about my hair, what I don't love about it, what products I typically use, etc. She then looks and feels my hair and tells me the process and purpose of a Deva Cut and she recommended I do the Ouidad Cut. I was very open because I wanted something new and fresh for my hair. I felt excited, never nervous during the process. Wash - I am then taken to the shampoo area and Lisa, a junior stylist, proceeds to wash my hair using the Ouidad Curl Immersion line. Within the first few minutes of the wash - my hair had totally changed, for the best. It was softer, almost lighter. She detangled my hair and I must say my hair gets very tangled, so she did the best she could - there was a tug here and there, but it wasn't a deal breaker (or anything bad). She rinses that out and proceeds to wash it one more time. Then an extreme treatment by Ouidad was placed on my tresses and that too was amazing. Maybe my hair was uber dehydrated and they totally brought it back to life. After the wash and condish. Arlene shapes my curly hair while it was wet. That is how a Ouidad Cut is done, on wet curly hair. The shaping continued and I could see how it was complimenting my face. I told Arlene to do what she envisioned would look best on me. After the cut she used a Curling Custard to two strand twist my hair all over and then I sat under the dryer. Styling - we didn't totally finish it because I like to have my hair truly set before I style it, so I walked out with it prepped (as I like to call it). However, I could truly see the difference in my hair - it was lighter, fuller, and shiner with the Ouidad products. I left Arlene's chair feeling happy! Price Point - I was charged for a Deva Cut since that is what my appointment was for and paid $76 for that and then purchased all of the products that were used on my hair and that was $79. I expected to pay about that much because I budgeted for the salon visit, so it wasn't too bad to me. However, it may be a little pricier for most. Two days after - I noticed residue from the custard that was used to set my twists which I don't like, but I texted Arlene and she told me exactly what to do to rid my hair of the noticeable residue. I'm going to try it and hopefully it does the trick. Overall, I definitely will go back to Arlene in 3 months to have my hair shaped again. read more

I've been looking for a new hair stylist for years. Since I have no concept of fashion, I depend on my stylist to keep my hair looking chic. The girl I used to go to was great at cutting my hair the way I told her too, but I need more than that. I need someone that takes initiative AND makes me look good. That's especially hard to do since I have a lot of thick, wavy hair that poofs out the shorter it gets. I have left some salons looking like a girl wearing a soft football helmet.
