I cannot say enough amazing things about Alyssa at Stella Luca Salon. She is genuinely the best stylist I've ever had -- and I've been getting blonding and extensions for over a decade, so that says a lot! My hair is very fine, and I also have a stubborn cowlick, which has always made wearing extensions a challenge. No one has ever been able to keep hand-tied extensions in my hair without them slipping, sticking out, or looking obvious... until Alyssa. Her technique is unmatched. My extensions look seamless, feel incredibly natural, and never interfere with my cowlick. The blonding she does on me is absolutely on point -- the prettiest, most natural, beautifully blended color I've ever had. MASSIVE WASTE OF TIME- DO NOT USE THIS SALON. I booked a hair extensions consultation with Alyssa online and confirmed my appointment for 6:30 PM on a Friday and my husband dropped me off a bit early (6:00) while he waited across the street at a bar. As I walked up to the door, they were turning off the lights and locking up but still let me in and the receptionist let me know that all stylists are independent contractors who make their own hours. I was happy to wait, but was never acknowledged again after that even when I poked my head around the corner into the wash room several times. Website estimated a new client blow dry, cut, and color would be around $110. I walked out paying nearly $200. Stylist was not very warm or welcoming, it's like you can almost tell they're blunt because new clients don't come back. Told me the cut I asked for was daunting. Why would you tell that to a client as you're cutting their hair? The cut ended up being lopsided (go figure) and I will have to fix it myself. At the very end, she tried pushing a product I did not need and going over by saying they were running a promotion for "today only". I said straight up that I do not have the money to pay for a $50 product that I have no need for, promotion or not. The coloring was fine. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. Disappointing Experience with Nicholas My mom and I had an unfortunate experience with Nicholas recently. I had been seeing Nicholas since I moved to FL from up north. While Stella Luca is a bit of a drive, Nicholas made it worth it with his talent. When my mother recently moved down I immediately told her she needed to see him for her hair as well. Initially, our appointment was cancelled last minute due to his illness, which we completely understand. He promised to contact me when he was better to reschedule, but after a few days I didn't hear back. I reached out myself and upon rescheduling, he failed to put our appointment in the system and seemed to have forgotten about us entirely, which we found out after we made the 40 min drive to the salon on the day of our appointment. We expressed our disappointment and requested a follow-up, but unfortunately, we never received any communication from him. I've been a client of Nicole for over 30 years. We started out as friends 35 years ago so when you went and became a hair stylist my wife use her. Stella Luca has always been a top notch h salon and Nicole is one of the best. She listens to her clients and takes her time creating a great hairstyle. My daughter saw Angie M in August for highlights & a cut. It was a fine appointment. She wanted some more so I made an appointment and got a call that Angie has a pop up that she would not accept our appointment as she canceled twice in June (my daughter was not in the state the entire month of June). The receptionist was confuse, said Angie would look into it and call me back. Are you kidding me?!?? Like we would sit and wait when it was somehow their error? My daughter was just there and I didn't $300 and it was no problem, and she has never canceled any appointments! What horrible service and how unprofessional. Perfect cut and style again. First visit was a get to you kind of cut. But every cut after the first has been awesome. I think stylists are cautious even when I say do whatever you want. Remember this name CLAUDIA GONZALEZ. Ms. Gonzalez works at the Winter Park Village Salon Stella Luca. If you have any plans on going to Stella Luca...know this. The stylists that work there are independent contractors. They work for themselves, so they can damage your hair and you have no recourse after you make a complaint against a stylist. My experience with Claudia Gonzalez was awful. This young girl has a lot to learn about customer service and listening to her clients. I expressed to Ms. Gonzalez that I wanted a few sun kisses around my face, not on sides or back of my hair. I was very clear because I have damaged my hair a few times in the past. Had a Brazilian Blowout done in the past, and had to cut my hair off after (in the past). I'm 56 years old and am very aware of what my hair can take or not take. Ms. Gonzalez kept saying "so you want a half Balayage"? I didn't know what that meant, but since I told her what I wanted, I figured she knew what she would need to do. What I found out is that 1/2 Balayage is more expensive than getting sun kisses around the front of my face. *I have very dark hair, I have had highlights many times before, and I know what I asked for. *I looked up at what Ms. Gonzalez was doing and she was putting my hair in foils on the sides of my head, I stopped her and told her that I didn't want highlights on the sides or back. She told me she can't do that...I was like "what?????". She kept going. I told her again that wasn't what I wanted. She told me it will be fine. I was so frustrated and felt like everyone was looking at me because I confronted her about what she doing. In the end, my hair turned gold and red/orange at the top. I told her I didn't want any gold/red/or orange. I do not have long hair. I have shoulder length hair. Ms. Gonzalez charged me on the highest end for cut & blow dry $$$$. Needless to say I was so sick about my gold/red/orange hair...I called Brianna (manager) at Stella Luca, she was so nice, but expressed to me that if the stylists were NOT independent, she could refund my money. I reached out to Ms. Gonzalez on IG and expressed how bummed I was about my hair, I shared pics of before my appt with her, after my appt with her, & after I had to pay another stylist $250 to fix my hair. I also added pics of my hair in the private IG I sent to her. Showing her the damage and breakage. Ms. Gonzalez replied to me....she does not ever give refunds. I guess she is perfect. She also said that she did exactly what I wanted which was not true. She then blocked me from IG. There was no need for that. She was running from me. Well, now I am disputing the charge on CC, reporting her to the Department of Health. Ms. Gonzalez has to learn how to deal with the public & LISTEN. I had never been before and should have done better research. Danielle was my hairdresser, the minute I arrived I was told hurry hop in my chair I have to get my children from daycare. I felt very rushed like I'm at a drive thru, I told her specifically dark brownish black not black hair color. It is most definitely black like charcoal. I told her to not cut my length just trim the dead ends and only long layers. My hair was long past my bra strap, now it's way above. She cut it shorter than I had expressed to her. She rushed the blow dry spraying this sticky spray in my hair to speed up the drying. I hated the feel of my hair, and also the price tag wasn't cheap to walk out disappointed! Basically six hundred dollars later and my hair looks like this. I am a Winter Park native, and this was my first time going to Stella luca after hearing everyone speak so highly of it, I decided to give it a chance. After two back to back appointments I'm in tears. I blow dried my hair to show the color. Blow drying it was awful, my hair is so dry and damaged. Even after paying more to have bond builders/ olaplex put in with the lightener. I don't use a-lot of heat on my hair I only blow dried it to truly show what it looks like, it's harder to tell when curly. The two appointments I was serviced for, my hair was styled curly both times as I have naturally curly hair. I was not offered a blow out, my stylist said she just assumed I wanted it styled curly. Which is fine, I just cannot get past the color. The first appointment color I did not like the color but I was okay with it. I understand that there is a transition color when going from dark natural brown to an icy blonde. That color was even and the stylist took her time. The second appointment was 4 days later. The stylist texted me to move up my appointment (due to covid 19). At my previous appointment the stylist told me my hair lifted approximately five levels and that at my next appointment we could get it to where I wanted it. I was so excited about it. My hair was lightened again as part of the process of going to a really light blonde. My hair was wet when I left so I didn't see the true color until I got home, when it dried. It was super brassy and there are spots of color that didn't even look like they were touched by the lightener. I believe the stylist I went to is experienced and has talent but I think she rushed with my hair. My hair did not end up the color I was expecting based on what I was told. Based on how it looks I more than likely need a color correction. The stylist was contacted and the salon was emailed. I am still waiting on a call from the manager. But was ultimately told by the receptionist that there is nothing the salon can do for me and that I needed to take it up with the stylist as all stylist work independently. Which I did I texted her my concerns about it being brassy and uneven before calling the salon. She said to get a toning shampoo. Which would help with the brassiness, not fix it entirely but wouldn't do anything about the uneven color. The stylist offered to possibly tone it again after she was made aware by the receptionist that I called and emailed the salon and the front desk scheduled me an appointment. I was unable to make it due to my mother having heart palpitations. Which the stylist was very understanding about. The salon is currently closed and will be for 2 weeks due to Covid 19. So not entire sure what the resolution of this will be but I'm very disappointed and discouraged about my experience. 3/26/20 Rebekah reached and offered to fix my hair for free and offered a partial refund of my last service. I came to Allie looking to go lighter as my hair was jet black. I wanted a nice bayalage blended look with a variation of colors. I understood I may not get the exact look the first appt but I was still hoping for a nice blended look with extensions. Unfortunately I did not receive that and didn't realize until weeks later my hair color was not blended in the back at all. I paid about $700 my first appt for full balayage, a 2 minute trim which was considered a "hair cut" for $65, 2 rows of extensions, and for a hair treatment. I paid another $900 for the hair. For that amount of money my hair color should have been amazing. I notified her before my 2nd appt that friends had pointed out that my hair was not blended at all in the back and sent pics and she said it was because of the toner being rinsed out but as you can see in the pics, there is a solid line that looks more like I had ombré done on my natural hair so even if the toner blended the hair to the extensions, there was still going to be that line in the back of my head where the transition from black to blonde was not blended well. I went in for my next appt and she did another partial bayalage which was not needed and it fully colored the top of my hair blonde which was not the look I was going for at all. so she had to do low lights to fix it, so we ended up double processing my hair so that I had that I could have my dark and light variation back that I originally wanted. Another partial was not even needed, just a couple of foils in the back and toner would have corrected the problem. At the end of my appt I was billed for another partial bayalage which was $195.00 which I was shocked I was billed for being that she saw that she didn't blend it well to begin with. I was prepared to pay for toner as maintenance of blending the hair to the extensions that was discussed the first appt. I understand policies are in place for corrective color but if you're my stylist and want a long lasting relationship, you should not charge me for something you see that you did not blend right in the first place. I ended up paying for her to do a service that really wasn't necessary because she had to go back over that work and darken my hair where she added foils because it was literally only needed in the back where it didn't blend. My hair is blended better now however I don't feel like I still have a nice bayalage look I was going for. I didn't look at the back of my hair a lot previously, as long as the front looked blended I assumed the back did but now I will from here on out :( The other things I noticed was there was no sanitation practices in place for her brush or combs. No barbicide to disinfect any combs or brushes and if she dropped a comb or clip on the floor, she picked it right back up and used it on my hair. On a positive note, I did like my extensions, and they did last which is why I gave it two stars. I think she may do well with blonde hair because it's easier to hide mistakes. Unfortunately I will not be returning to her as a stylist though mainly because I am not completely satisfied with my color as it's not the look I was really going for but I make it work, nor the prices. read more

I originally went to get my hair colored to a lighter blonde and get a light trim on my bangs and ends. I went with Ingrid because she was a self-proclaimed "blonde specialist and had advanced hair cutting skills." I will say, she did an amazing job on the color, I was very pleased. My main issue has to do with the cut she gave me. She had turned the chair around so I couldn't see what she was doing, but I didn't think much of it. My first red flag was that she seemed a bit dismissive about what I wanted as far as my haircut. Right after blow drying, she started cutting my hair before I could even show her my reference photo. I had to interrupt her cutting my hair to show her exactly what I wanted. Even still, I thought everything was fine, I trusted her as a professional. Once she was done cutting, she didn't spin me around to see it. Instead, she asked if I would like it curled, to which I agreed and thought that would be nice. After she was done styling, she turned me around. Honestly at the time I thought it all looked really nice! I was so focused on the amazing hair color that I was seeing for the first time that I didn't really notice the haircut. She took the cape off and took me straight away to pay. I was so impressed with the color that I gave her a $40 tip which was 20% of what I paid in total ($246). It wasn't until a couple days later when I washed my hair and saw it straight for the first time that I really saw the damage that had been done. This is by far the WORST haircut I have ever had. I went for a light trim and shorter curtain bangs and was left with a very botched cut all over my hair. I am so devastated with my hair now because the cut is so uneven, and any shape I had I feel has been ruined. The only way I can think to salvage this is to go back to my old hair stylist to hopefully fix this mess. I will insert pics from different lighting and angles for you all to see. I really tried to do my research and read reviews before I came here. I was hopeful after seeing her Instagram and how amazing her pictures looked. Left with extensions not matching my hair color and when I called the following day so told me to just put purple shampoo in them. It ruined the 1300 dollar extensions. It was my first time going to Stella Luca because I needed to get my balayage. The initial salon that I go to unfortunately had to cancel one of my appts because my stylist fell ill. Due to the timing I had to find someone and somewhere to go. I did some research and based on googles reviews I decided to give Stella Luca a chance. I called in and they had availability for the next day (which should have been my very first flag, anyone who's good, is booked) but I decided to give Donny a try. He was the one available. After going through his Instagram I felt confident that he would get the look I wanted done. When I arrived to my appt at 2pm, I sat down for a consultation. He asked me what I wanted and I explained to him I wanted a full balayage. I had one done a few months prior and just wanted to go lighter. (Not my first round. I've gotten balayage done a number of times through the years with my home salon) I showed him a picture and he advised me that the look I wanted would take more than one session and that it would take 6-7 hours and cost 350 to 450. I told him I'm not worried about the money but I am about the time being that I was celebrating my husband's birthday that night with friends. I had to be out of there by 5pm, 6pm at the latest. I told him I would come back but to just lighten me up the best he can in a 3 hour period. The appt took 6 hours. I walked out with my hair wet because I did not have the time to get it styled. I would have gotten out of there at 9-10pm. I still paid $365. When I questioned Donny why it was so much he explained to me it was because he had to reapply color. The last I recall that is not MY problem. I told him what I wanted and he still decided to do his own thing, he mentioned he charged for the shatter root, the reapplication of color and my cut and style. The cut is horrendous and uneven and I didn't even get it styled. I told him I still ended up paying the exact amount he said I would pay if I had done the full head. He only did partial and it was the top part. My hair color is uneven. Some parts of my hair is blorange. My roots look ridiculous. It looks like I dyed my hair a color and then did the balayage and my roots are growing in. He said the shatter root was to "blend it better". It was a horrible experience. I would NEVER EVER go back nor recommend the salon to anyone. The stylists in there seem to be the ones who didn't make it to the prestige salons. One lady was in there dying her hair dark and the stylist got the color outlined all over her head, it looked like an at home job. The stylist next to him was with a client gossiping about another client she had. So unprofessional. I'm telling you, do not go there. He's lucky he even got $150 from me. He tried to scam me and thought I'd be an idiot to allow it. That very night he messaged me on IG and told me he'd refund me $215. As I said, he's lucky he got anything. For the job he did he shouldn't have gotten paid. When I straighten out my hair it's brassy and unevenly cut and color looks a mess. He clearly does not know what he's doing. Unprofessional. Terrible customer service! If I could give 0 stars, I would. My husband wanted to treat me to highlights and a blow out for Valentine's Day, and I was booked with Jesse. I'm a first time client at this salon so I called the day before to ask about the process and the cost. The receptionist took my info-- auburn hair, mid back length and medium thickness. She went to ask Jesse and came back saying it would be $160 for the highlights and $50 for the blow dry. On the day of my appointment, Jesse was very rude and argumentative. He told me he didn't realize I had auburn hair, and thought I was a blonde booking the service so he would charge me a corrective color pricing if I want highlights and it would be closer to $400. When I inquired about this (because I'm not trying to be blonde or change my base, just get highlights) he became defensive, giving every reason not to do my hair; saying that he wasn't going to spend the next few hours on me. (Mind you, the appointment time is booked already) He said, "First I would have to highlight you, then wash you, tone you and do the blow out..by the time I'm done we'll be ready to close." After a day of rest and contemplating if I should write this, I am just gonna write this. I should have done my research, but I decided to give them a try anyway. I also updated my review to take out my feelings and just state facts that related to me only. So after my balayage and color treatment then to shampooing/toning and keratin treatment, I went back to the chair to get my hair styled and ends trimmed. I paid about $425 including tip, I left feeling ok, but not like how did at other salons I've experienced. Well, when I got in my car and inspected my hair, there was color all over my forehead, sides and ear. When I texted her she said come back and she'll fix it. I was already on the road and annoyed that I paid that much to even think If turn around and have her touch my hair again. She called me 20 min later and I brushed it off and said I'm already on the road. Because I was driving, I didn't want to address my feeling over the phone because well, mixed feeling behind the wheel is like me being intoxicated behind the wheel. So she advised me to use a make up remover or witch hazel. I came home and tried both. I got most out, but the rest by my sides were harder. Although Stella Luca as a whole is amazing, the real gem inside this salon is Kimber Tanner. When looking for a loyal stylist, she is your only answer. I've been getting my hair done by her for over 10 years. She is incredibly honest, EXTREMELY talented, and her end goal is to always make you feel beautiful as you're leaving her chair. Most recently, Kimber has been on an almost 8 month journey of taking me from a beautiful magenta balayage - to being a breathtaking, platinum bride. Kimber even convinced me to try extensions and my life was changed forever. I've attached some pictures of the journey so you can see for yourself. Not happy at all. 600.00 and two appointments later within 3 weeks I still didn't get what I asked for. I simply asked for a face frame hi light to brighten around my face. Simple right? Not at all! Rebekah decided to foil my entire crown ok? then tone it to some drabby golden ick ...and her words... you should come back for some face framing hi lights what???!!!!!!! Tried to live with it for a couple of weeks but still bothered me. Went back and her chair neighbor ended up doing the same freaking thing!!! Me: I would like to brighten up around my face Her: ok but I think you need hi lights on your crown and a few in back. Having faith I said ok again!!! Grrrr More hi lights same drabby results drab and boring. 600.00 in total spent in 3 weeks. Ridiculously overrated stylists/salon. read more

I have to say that I have major anxiety with new salons. My hair is curly and not everyone can handle it. I switched to using the Devacut method (dry cutting)for my curls several years ago, and it's provided the best outcome for me. When online booking my first appointment, I was required to book an additional 30 min "new client consultation" appointment in addition to my service. I was disappointed to receive a text from my stylist while I was already driving to this appointment that she wasn't going to be on time, and would need to start my appointment 30 mins late. After sitting in the waiting area for 30 mins, my stylist (Rebekah) arrived and did not apologize or even acknowledge her lateness. Our consultation was about five minutes - basically what do you want to do today? Devacut? Ok. It would be acceptable, except for the expectations created by making me add an additional 30 mins to my planned time at the salon for consultation (and not showing up for them). My cut is okay, but not great, and the attitude from the stylist was just ridiculous, asking me multiple times if I had had this type of cut before, as if my ignorance was a problem. The place is nice and clean. It has a great location. I was driving there for an hour to do Keratin treatment. They promised me that my hair will be straight and I will forget about the straightener. Such a lie. I paid $400+ for the Keratin and the shampoos. I have curly hair, The next time I washed my hair, it was still curly! Tell me for what did I pay $400?! I could wash my hair and straighten it by myself for free! This is such a scam... I do not recommend this place if you want to do Keratin. Stella Luca is a fancy salon in Winter Park with some very talented hair stylists. I've been coming to Stella Luca for my hair for several years now because I followed my wonderful stylist Janae here. I love how easy it is to make an appointment online. They also have a nice waiting area and ladies who wash my hair are typically friendly. Don't get me wrong, this place is pricey. However, after some bad past experiences at other salons with hair cuts, I am happy that I found someone that I can trust with my hair. She does some beautiful work with color. I'm such a wimp that I usually only stick to a few foils and light layers. I am picky with my layers and length and she knows exactly what I like. Some days you just need a little lift...and that's what my hair got today with help from my girl, Ashley. I wanted to "lighten the load" of my hair for this Autumn. I'd been box-coloring my grey hair out for months but still wasn't happy. I needed a new look and I trusted Ashley's ability. Good call. Yes, it took a few hours to get done but it was WORTH IT. The Stella Luca Salon is usually pretty busy on the weekend - with all of us on the hunt for the look that we not only like, but love. I had to make my appointment a week in advance but the staff is very friendly and I didn't have to wait long to be seated after I arrived. Again, I could not be happier with the results.
