I've been seeing Kim for years now. I don't know what I'd do without her! She is so great at letting the hair organically guide the cut. I've never left unhappy, ever! Also she's just so sweet and easy to chat with, which is important for some of us who may have social anxiety etc. I've had my color done there as well with a few different people and again, it's always a 10/10 experience. I love Alchemy. Their staff is friendly and attentive, but not too much or fake. They communicate via text if you prefer (I do, so it's very convenient for me.). It's a fun, open salon, that has a nice vibe and isn't uptight. But what keeps me coming back is the quality of service. Every time I leave I say that's the best haircut I've ever had. It is not inexpensive but that's because you're paying for someone's time and not just the time they spend with you, but also the time they spend perfecting their craft and continuing to educate themselves at their craft. My friend (male) went in for a hair cut. This is his first salon experience btw. First, if you're male you shouldn't come here at all. They will make you feel awkward for coming and they quoted 40$ but in the end it was over 100$!!!! second, tali is very rude and unprofessional. she actually made my friend feel stupid for coming to get his hair cut?? she said she has been stylist for 30 years or something but she treats people horribly. maybe she was a bully in high school (it's the way she seems to talk down to people) if you're a white lady she might be nice to you but i think thats where it stops. she should get a bob (fitting) or a buzz cut (will help with the high ego problem) thank you, have a good day (expect for tali) may your micro aggressions make their way back to you. read more

I had a friend who had a terrible experience there, more then once, then they over charged her and messed up her hair.. she won't complain about it but I will. When I use a service or go to a restaurant, if the service or the food is not good, I don't only not go back I write them up here so other people can find out. It's very expensive these days to get anything done or go out and eat. If the food is bad, or the service is bad, Inwill say that. Professional Trendy salon that knows exactly what you are trying to describe ?? Hallelujah! Located in downtown Orlando sits a trendy, cute modern building is Alchemy. From what I can tell all the hair stylists are on the younger side so they're in the know with a the new "in" poppin' haircut. They charge my service type and the degree of experience of your stylist. Amber has been my stylist twice now and she knows what she's doing! Her cuts are immaculate. This time I went for a cut and some highlights and she delivered. She is definitely a master at her craft. She specializes in curly hair patterns but since I have straight hair I can vouch for other hair types as well! Everyone here is really knowledgeable and will recommend to it custom products or tips with such friendliness. I live in South Florida Fort Lauderdale area and when I plan trips to Orlando I include a stop to Alchemy for Amber specifically! I recommend her 100%. 5 Stars for the same amazing hairstylists in a new and FABULOUS space! I was able to join my sister as she got her hair cut by Kimmy. We both have very fine hair, but a massive amount of it. This means it gets heavy quickly and she was in need of some long layers to help give it some body. Kimmy was such an absolute profesh. She knew right away how to handle my sister's hair and precisely which products would not get it greasy and weigh it down. The result was a beautiful cut that I'm tempted to get after this COvid-19 situation ends. And now on to the space. It is on Bumby, just across the street from the Petsmart and Colonial Plaza. They took what was an abandoned series of offices and turned them in to one, cohesive and stunning space. They have a great waiting area with a photoshoot backdrop and floral station. They really have curated the space beautifully. And maybe best of all- they provide sparkling water (or still) when you arrive. I'm not talking about that store brand, I'm talking La Croix. And for that, I'm truly thankful. (But no, really, they have great stylists and you can't go wrong here). read more

I was looking for a place to take the big leap and cut my hair short because I had plans to donate it. After months of looking for a salon i decided to try out Alchemy. Even though it was about a 30 minute drive from me, it was totally worth it. They had great reviews and I was able to book online and know how much it would cost ahead of time so that there would be no surprises. When I got there I was greet right away and I was offered coffee. Who doesn't love free coffee? I chose Corrine as my stylist which was great because she totally knew was she was doing and took the time to measure and cut my hair a certain way so that the charity I was donating too got the most hair and so that I can also get the haircut I wanted. She even taught me the best way to style my hair which was also quick and easy. I also liked that they used high quality products like bumble and bumble. This is not a safe space for curls and there were some microaggressions thrown. Although I did not see the final result of my hair before leaving the salon (I left with soaking wet hair), out of kindness I STILL trusted them enough to thank them, tip them and tell them the hair was fine. This was a MISTAKE. I got home and realized that the stylist completely RUINED my balayage by doing highlights for straight hair. This looked ridiculous on my curly hair. It was chunky and uneven. The left side was brighter and chunkier than the right. I trusted them again and returned to get this fixed. This has left me with 3-4 mismatched colors of hair. The left side of my hair is jet black and the right side is brown. Overall I look silly. I had to find somewhere else to correct Alchemy's work. Initially the owner was being difficult about issuing a refund, taking days to respond. Eventually, a partial refund was given, not a FULL refund. I communicated my expectation of a full refund, given my hair's condition and the fact that I need to fix it elsewhere. She attempted to shift the blame, claiming I didn't deserve a full refund. She even falsely described my curly hair as "matted. So there's some microaggressions towards African hair. She then started making strong implications that I lied about Alchemy ruining my hair just to get a refund and that SHE is disappointed. Highly unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this place and especially not for those with curly hair. read more

Why The Alchemy has just come across my radar... I have no clue? First off it's an easy to access location and has plenty of parking spaces with its own lot and bike rack. This joint has all the artist vibes walking in to what feels like a fresh canvas with its all white building and garden waiting room. We were greeted and immediately offered tea, water, or coffee! When escorted to the chairs this salon has a whole different vibe than your standard parlor. With coloring tables directly in the middle and countless chairs and chair mirrors. What I love most about this place is they are not afraid of light! It's easy to rock a hairstyle in dim lighting, heck I can get away with half done make up in dim lighting. The real test is full on light. With windows throughout the joint there is no missing a flaw. Our stylist had serious skill. I have never seen a hairstylist use a pair of shears the way they did. We also did a pretty huge transformation from really long hair to short layers with bangs and I am taken back at how great it turned out! Okay so this place is a bit pricey compared to other options for hair care, but I really feel like I got a lot of value for the money I spent here. The most important thing to me is that I can completely trust the professionals here to give me a great haircut that I am 100% satisfied with (I still have some PTSD from a horrible cut I got 20 years ago- it was really that bad trust me...) and the service you get makes you feel like a queen. She cut my hair and gave me beautiful highlights to make my curls stand out. It's been six months and my highlights are still so vibrant. I was so happy with my cut and my new hair color. In summer 2019 I moved from Northern NJ to Orlando. Finding a hair salon you love is no easy feat. I had left a wonderful salon and stylist in NJ who I had known for over 5 years and was nervous to start the search in Orlando. I tried 3 other stylists at Alchemy before finding Corrine the owner. One stylist did understand what a pixie cut was but then Covid occurred and they no longer work there. The other two stylists before Corrine (Ashley Rose who no longer works there and Amber who still works there) didn't get what a pixie cut is. I had tried a different salon before finding Alchemy and Corrine and it seems finding a stylist who truly understands what a feminine pixie cut is down in Orlando is like finding a needle in a haystack. The reason for my 4 star review is I just wish Ashley Rose and Amber were honest and said it wasn't their strong suite before touching my hair. I would have rescheduled maybe they could have asked someone for help since one of the reasons I was attracted to Alchemy is their emphasis on education. With both stylists I showed pictures of prior cuts, saying what I did or did not like about them and also communicated I like my pixie to be more feminine so to not cut the hair short by my ears. Well unfortunately that's what they did, they cut the hair short by my ears, making my cut more masculine, which some people like, but as I had communicated, that's not how I like my hair. Thankfully I found Corrine! I called the shop one day before my next appointment and was honest. I was honestly very nervous but was very kind and shared with the receptionist that I was frustrated as I love my pixie cut but nobody seems to know how to cut it. I explained as I did above. They recommended Corrine and I thought and also told them this is my last shot and if it didn't go well then I was considering reluctantly growing my hair out. Corrine cut my hair for the first time in November and she did a fabulous job! As I did with previous stylists, I showed her pictures of prior haircuts showing what I did/didn't like and explained I prefer my cut to be more feminine, etc. I left with the BIGGEST smile on my face and have had cuts with Corrine several times since then. It took almost 1.5 years of living in Orlando but I found my salon and stylist finally! :) If you are looking for someone who knows how to cut short hair then Corrine is your person! And I really love Alchemy Salon. Everyone is very friendly and nice. A HUGE plus is they take Covid very seriously and I feel very comfortable going there. This is a follow up from my previous post-- OVER TEXTURING and RUINING my long hair at Alchemy Salon. After contacting the salon again, the manager became defensive and continued to doubt my issue. I told her another stylist - who is a friend looked at my hair and stated " was over textured from top to bottom - including ends and it would take approx. 1 year or more to grow back its fullness" She also said that texturing should not have been done on my hair type. As a loyal customer I decided to contact Alchemy again and see if Ashley Rose or another stylist could get my hair back to original state and what they recommend. After all, it was their salon that ruined my hair. The manager, doubting my story was defensive, condescending and rude doubting my story. Why would I lie??? A loyal customer for over 2 years coming in monthly - this did not make sense. Just look at it with Ashley Rose and you can see for yourself. Manager then said Ashley Rose is no longer working at Alchemy. Another stylist, Corrine would see me for another consultation. I agreed. Also they were willing to credit me for 1 haircut. Fair enough. 2 days before my new appointment the salon called to say "don't bother coming in - we decided (Ashley Rose and Alchemy ) "it is best if you take your business to another salon." I thought Ashley Rose was no longer working at Alchemy?? Still not sure where Ashley Rose is working. I have been a loyal customer for 2 1/2 years coming in every month for base color, highlights and cuts. I can understand if a stylist screws up but not to try to correct the issue is unacceptable. Whatever happened to customer service? And to cancel the consult and tell me to go elsewhere? Were you trained in customer service???? Alchemy may have completely changed the hair game for me. I'm one of those girls who can not sit in a hair or nail salon for hours - well that's until I met Lauren and alchemy hair salon. Let me tell you - I spent months looking for the perfect place that has experience in coloring and haircuts. I've never spent more than $80 on my hair and I was ready to spend at the right place. I needed a place that could create an ashy brown balayage. I finally found alchemy through my friends and doing my research. The salon itself is very cute and hip. They provide water, tea, coffee, wine or beer as soon as you walk in! Lauren was super sweet and amazing - she continued to ask me what I wanted and created the color of my dreams. She was professional, knowledgeable and explained to me what she was doing throughout the whole process. Also she did a wonderful job cutting my hair. I'm a changed woman. I wish I could give 0 stars. I came in for a routine root touch-up and left with my hair essentially ruined. The stylist admitted fault and apologized, assuring me she would fix it with a redo. She didn't even let me pay for the service as she said it wouldn't be fair of her to charge me for a mistake. I was contacted the day after by the owner and was told I'd have to pay $250 to fix a mistake I had no hand in. When I was shocked, she argued that she didn't "consider it a redo" when the email I received about the situation was quite literally titled "Najee redo" and was told by Najee herself it was a redo. When I tried to call to have a redo scheduled, I was put on the phone with the manager. This manager was the most disgustingly rude customer service employee I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. She accused me of "creating a situation" when all I did was try to explain what was promised to me by the stylist. The manager was so downright mean that my boyfriend had to console me after the phone call. I cannot believe this woman manages anything and I'm honestly scared for anyone else who might end up in my situation. I work in customer service and her type of behavior is not tolerated anywhere else. Nobody should be treated that way. She even told me to "go back to the old salon" that I used to go to when it is a five hour drive away. After I hung up the phone because I would not take the disrespect and condescension any longer my haircut for next month was canceled with no notice. Now I'm stuck with ruined hair and a dye on my root that I don't know how to get out. I'll probably have to pay hundreds of dollars for a color correction because these people don't want to lose the money to fix what was caused by them. I read some other reviews after this happened to me and it has happened to multiple people before. Someone even said about the owner, "The owner met me with a nasty attitude, and belittled me during our entire conversation to the point where I was shaking and on the verge of tears." This is exactly how I felt. There are also multiple comments about the horrible customer service. All in all, please don't give this salon your business or money. All they care about, clearly, is making money and not actually their clients' hair. I really don't blame the stylist, Najee, for any of this as she was incredibly sweet and accommodating. I'm very disappointed that I never got to speak to her and that my redo was handed over to the most awful and rude management team I have ever encountered. read more

I love the modern take on today's salons. Yesterday, I visited Alchemy and was in awe with their rustic modern decor. Their hair dryers resembles futuristic space helmets with spider like projections. I've used one before and they actually dry your hair very well. All of the stylists seemed to be amazing hair coloring experts! From their appearances, I could tell they all are quite crafty when it comes to styling and coloring hair. From the exterior: The hair salon appears very petite. There isn't much parking but, thank God I found one, non-2 hour parking spot adjacent to the salon. However there's side roads near the salon that I think you would be able to park off of. read more

This was my first time at this salon and definitely will not be my last. I was super nervous going in because I haven't had my hair cut in a few years but was in desperate need. I was going for a shag look or a Stevie nicks mid 80's type of look and Lindsay new exactly what I wanted and explained what she would be doing to achieve this for me. Her apprentice I believe jalissa was her name was also very sweet and super sociable. I have wavy/curly hair. Somewhere between a 2c and 3a depending on how long it is. So finding someone who believes me when I say short layers and then goes above and beyond to suggest even better cuts and products for my hair type is amazing and rare! Jen is my girl because we have similar curl types but now that she's moving (cue overly dramatic sobbing), I can still rest easy knowing most, if not all, the stylists can understand how to cut my hair so it looks good and I avoid the dreaded triangle head (shudder). Anyway, it's not super cheap like a Supercuts or anything, but it is one of the best examples I can think of to drive the point home that you get what you pay for. What can I say about Alchemy that others haven't already said? Alchemy is top notch. They are really, really great people that know hair. I've been seeing Bailey now for a couple of years and she has NEVER led me astray. She has cut and dyed my hair every which way. Every time I go into Alchemy, I know people are going to ask where I get my hair done and I always tell them to go to Alchemy. I am so comfortable with all the girls there that if they ever need hair models, I'm willing to volunteer. For my wedding, Tali did my hair. She is FANTASTIC. I asked her to do braids and she gave me the most beautiful updo with braids. I kept them in for two days they were that good. When I had to take the braids out I called Bailey and she cut my hair into a cut shoulder length cut. Haven't gone back since. Seriously...what are you waiting for? read more

Kristin was not available to style my hair for my birthday event so I asked her who would she recommend for styling - She mentioned LT. I made an appt Sunday to get my hair styled by LT - This visit this time I brought my own hair products due to the heat spray that was used on my hair with Kristin I didnt care so much (see previous review) - LT was kind enough to first read the products prior to her using them on me. LT sat me on the blowdry section of the salon and asked what I wanted done today - I simply stated "Bone Straight Hair". She used my Rusk Thickr Spray for my bangs similar to their bumble and bumble version and Used my heat protectant spray from Sally's. The only thing she mentioned about my products were that the thickening spray seemed old (it was on clearance from tjmaxx for $5) - and that the heat protectant spray I used was a bit too oily and I shouldnt spray so much on my hair if I was to use it to use heat products. She did a good job with my Bone Straight Hair styling! However she mentioned that I should avoid being outside too long - I assumed perhaps it may frizzed up my hair? So after getting up from the chair and walking to the receptionist - The receptionist complimented my hair. It looked way better than how Kristin styled it when I first initialed my bang cut and style - Kristin it seemed was rushed straightening my hair - In which LT took her time. Only difference with Kristin and LT is Kristin is a conversationalist stylist as to LT she is more of a worker and not talk much. So after leaving the salon I had to do a quick errand and I noticed because I left my windows down in my car - The ends of my hair started to frizz and looked wavey?! I was unhappy about that because I paid $30 tip included to have my hair styled and it was not guaranteed to last?! I did touch ups at home with my heat spray and flat iron with hairspray and it thankfully fixed the problem. I like coming here actually because its actually cheaper than Copperhead Salon and The gals here are relatable in age! I noticed Sundays its not as busy as Fridays - I will def see Kristin back and I got a good vibe with LT cause she concentrates on the clients hair! I've been going to Alchemy for 2-3 years now and I will never go anywhere else. Michael is the only one I trust with my hair. As an Asian girl with naturally black hair, it's SO HARD to find someone that can lift my hair color to blonde without damaging it or having it turn out yellow. Michael has years of experience and knows exactly what he's doing. I am always satisfied with how my hair looks after every visit. Going blonde with black hair is a process and is absolutely not achievable in one sitting. Michael never overpromises and will make sure you understand this. However, my color always comes out absolutely beautiful. After many sessions I can say my hair is the perfect shade of blonde. Ah! I forgot to write my review! Got my hair chopped in August by Micheal. I was soo nervous and had been getting mentally prepared for months. He was very understanding and made a point to talk me thru the whole cut to ease my anxiety. I love my hair cut so much and I'm so thankful for his talent! Ashley Rose was my stylist and she was amazing! I felt like I was a challenge since I was pretty open to whatever she thought would look great as long as it was an easy style to manage. She hit it out of the park! I always had long thick hair and I just wanted really short shaggy hair. I recently went to a wedding and I got soooo many compliments. She took time with me before getting started to learn exactly what I wanted, and then she transformed my long hair from blah to WOWZERS. So grateful for such an amazing cut! I have been going here 7 years now and it has been over 4 years now that I have been going to Tiffany exclusively. That is just crazy talk, the time has flew by. But, Tiffany just keeps getting better! We have been through short, long, black, red, blonde, bangs, no bangs, really every emotion I have expressed through my hair, Tiff has been by my side. I am so indecisive with my hair and I trust her enough to walk in, sit down and let her do whatever she thinks is good. I trust her that much. I would even walk in there blindfolded and not speak and I know I would leave happy. All of my friends & Yelpers that have jumped on the Tiffany/Alchemy train seem to love it as well. You have to call in advance to grab an appointment but they have great hours so that's not a problem. When I sit for a cut and color it takes about 2 1/2 hours but I love hanging out here, the ambiance is so chill and they are always playing some great music. I love that everyone here really knows how to use their extensive product line as well. Anytime you walk in, you can ask anyone about what they carry if you are just stopping in for products. Tiffany always has a nice assistant who washes and styles my hair as well and they do a great job! Tip: Don't forget to tip 15-20% of what your services were. Also, it's a nice gesture to tip a little to the assistant as well. read more
