I've been searching high and low for a new hair stylist since I've been growing out my hair for over 6 months now with fears that I would get a horrific haircut at a new place. Although recently I've noticed that my hair became really unruly and it looked just plain awful when I let it down so I knew I had to get a hair makeover stat. Luckily I stumbled upon Groupon and found Salon Cielo which is only a short 10 minute drive from my place in Downtown Covina. The Groupon was for a cut, wash, dye/partial highlights, and style for only $40! The deal was amazing and after reading her Yelp reviews I was set! I made the appointment promptly over the phone, but unfortunately Kelly was too sick to stick to our original appointment so she texted me and we rescheduled it for the following week. Once I arrived at Salon Cielo I was greeted by Kelly with the sweetest and most bubbly personality ever! She immediately made me feel at home and even though she was still feeling ill she was so accommodating and happy to be there. We talked about the different styles I wanted and since I never had highlights I was initially planning on not getting them because I hated the streaky look. Kelly assured me that subtle highlights in a mocha color would look great and a warm rich auburn color would compliment my skin tone so I trusted her and told her to choose whatever color she thinks would look great on me. After 3.5 hours of watching her work meticulously on my hair the result was phenomenal! My hair looks absolutely gorgeous and I can seriously say I've never seen my hair so wonderfully cut and colored in my life. I could not stop smiling and raving about her! I've already referred my mom and some friends to her and I can't wait to come back to Kelly again! She is the sweetest hair stylist you will ever meet and really talented! Check out the Yelp pics to see some of her amazing work! Tip* The parking enforcement is VERY strict in this area. The parking on the street is only for 1 hour. I failed to see the signs and ended up with a parking ticket which I was able to contest. I have been on a mission to find a salon that is close to my house with a stylist that actually knows what she's doing - I have found that spot! My first time there, and I got Vanessa, who did wonders with my hair. My hair was a few inches from my waistline, and I just wanted a change, and to get rid of my damaged ends from a previous soft perm. I showed Vanessa a pic of what I wanted, and although it didn't come out exactly like the picture, I think her version of the style turned out better! She genuinely seems to care about what you have to say. She was also the first stylist to tell me that I didn't need to recolor my entire head every time I dyed it (and I've been to my fair share of salons)! No wonder my hair always dried out, cause no one told me all I needed was a retouch! I love that she is honest about it, and not just looking to hike up the price. I came in for a cut and color with Robert. I'm a brunette and was looking to go blonde. I showed Robert the picture of j Lo and was left with chunky, super bronze highlights and a choppy cut. I was so disappointed and I also told him that it wasn't what I asked for. He then began to make excuses that it was because my hair was damaged that he couldn't go lighter. I then told him why hadn't he notified me of that when he began to bleach and saw my hair breaking. He again gave me more excuses. Let me start off that Vivian saved my hair from a horrible Super Cuts cut. I had a HORRIBLE cut and Vivian saved my hair. She was able to fix the damage I had received. I have really thick straight hair, so if a hairdresser makes a very straight cut and does not know how to blend it is very noticeable. That is how my hair was when I went in. My hair looked as if a cow has came up to me and chomped off a chunk (Look at the before and after pics). Vivian did an amazing job at blending in the bad cut and fixing it. She tried not to take off any more length than needed and just did an amazing job. My hair looks great and I don't feel horrible when I see my hair. So I found Kelly through a co worker and I decided to make my appointment after looking at her pictures on Instagram. When I walked in she greeted me with a hug! She is so warm, friendly, and is definitely more excited about your hair than you are lol. My experience at the salon was the best experience I have had any where else! I purchased a Groupon for $79 which included Full Highlights or Balayage, Haircut and Deep Conditioning Treatment with a fine print that does not include toner an additional $25 and additional fee depending on the length of your hair. It total to $140 which makes me wonder what is the point of getting a Groupon when you get to there location all the additional fees are being applied. However, although my hair is not long it is quite thick so I did not mind paying the extra fees. Vanessa was my hairstylist and she did not have a welcoming demeanor. She did not provide any suggestions or guidance whatsoever or was intrigued to get to know me as a client. She gave off this air of not really enjoying her time it almost felt forceful. I am not sure how she plans to build a clientele when she does not talk to the clients or at least attempts to. She is also booked until December so never mind going there for a trim, a blowout, or anything in between. The job was mediocre I did not like it. My bangs were uneven and so was my balayage. The color of the balayage was not even the color I asked for. She did not blow out my hair instead blow dried it my hair with a wet brush and then added some curls all without asking how I would like my hair styled. I literally called over 30 times and no one picks up and goes to voicemail. I had my hair cut this weekend at another salon in West Covina. Boy, she did a horrible job! I saw that this salon had good reviews and did a walk in. Not sure if they took walk ins, but they did. I meet Carlos and he took me right in. I explained my problem and he got to work. The most gentle hands I have felt in someone cutting my hair. I have short hair and I new it would be hard to really fix, but Carlos did an amazing job! I left the salon very pleased. I came to Salon Cielo to get a conditioning treatment, a trim, and to get bangs. I was a little nervous because I have had some bad experiences with bangs in the past. I received Kelly as a stylist, and she instantly put me at ease. Kelly was so bubbly and enthusiastic and you could tell she really cared about making sure I was a happy customer. Kelly made sure to tell me exactly what she was doing along the way and I loved that I felt like I was kept in the loop.
