Be very careful getting your hair layered at this place. Be very clear on what you want before your hair is cut. The layers were not blended from the front to the back and with the length. Looks very choppy and weirdly uneven. Not a balanced haircut at all. read more

KATHERINE IS THE REAL MVP!!!!!!! So I came to Kathy after my hair was F*cked up, dried and fried! LOL I used to go to Kut Haus in Claremont, so needless to say my expectations were pretty high for Kathy, and my god. . .she has made my hair look better than anyone ever has!!!!!!!! It is Honestly SO hard to find a trustworthy hairstylist to do white-blonde without looking brassy/yellow or all around cheap and ugly, lol. I wanted white-blonde without damaging my hair, and a few hours later TA-DA! That's EXACTLY what I had gotten from Kathy! Not only does she take the most pride in her work, but she listens to what I want & what I do not want, which made it sooo easy for me to trust that my hair was going to come out the exact way I envisioned it. Before walking into refine salon, I didn't know that my expectations would not only be met, but that my end result was going to be so above and beyond! With many salons, I have walked out not happy, and regretful; however, that was not the case with Refine salon. I am one happy customer, I've gotten TONS of complainants, and most of all I am glad I found a great person like Kathy that I can trust with my hair. If you want gorgeous white blonde, a nice cute cut, or anything hair related, definitely book my girl Kathy!!! (: read more

I have called repeatedly over the past few days to attempt scheduling an appointment. Their store hours were listed closing at 9:30. After no answer I drove there about 8ish. It was locked up and closed an hour and half before closing. I attempted to recall multiple times today relatively soon after opening. I was sent to voicemail immediately. Even attempted to reach out via Ig page to no avail. Pretty disheartening to see when the work looks very good. If you prefer to have clients schedule solely online atleast put that in your voicemail. read more

I found this hair salon through yelp and I'm so happy I did. I've been wanting to cut my hair but just never found the right stylist! While on vacation I decided to go on a whim and give them a call for an appointment that same day. Marlene, who was available was my stylist! She is so sweet and wonderful and really took her time to get what I wanted. The way she cut my hair was magical. Every time I make a trip back to West Covina I will be returning back to Marlene. Thanks so much! I definitely recommend this salon. It's very clean inside and everyone knows what they're doing, cute little shop on the corner. Can't wait to be back read more

Found Refine and Hector though the magic that is Yelp. I saw a yelper's hair that I liked and tracked it all down to Refine. Yes, I stalk on a regular. Don't judge me. Hector was able to even out my last haircut from my old salon that was definitely what you'd call asymmetric, but not exactly in the good way - shorter on the left and longer on the right. He blended it all to have it shorter in the back to longer, piecey layers in the front. So, in other words, a true a-line lob (long bob) with nice, soft texture. This is not an easy haircut to master, people! But he did it, and I left very satisfied. I proceeded to immediately post a shameless hair selfie to my ig. Don't judge me. I will be back in 3 months to refresh this beauty! See you soon, Refine... read more

I have never really had a hairstylist before (I usually do my hair in Asia), and I had a great experience! Refine is located in Covina on the corner of the street, and you can't miss it. The interior was super classy and nice, and it had a nice atmosphere. I made an appointment with Becca, and she really takes care of her clients and their hair. Over text, Becca gave me a couple options of what I can do to get the style I desired. She actually took the time to go over everything and ensure what I wanted which was really nice- she went above and beyond her duty! Since I do have jet black hair, we decided to do two sessions of bleach and a finish of blue/ silvery tones. Becca was very friendly and easy to talk to, and I really enjoyed coming in and getting my hair done with her! She was very informative and definitely knows what she is doing- I learned so much about hair and the different processes! If you are using bleach, I would recommend olaplex as it repairs the broken bonds the bleach causes. It does cost more, but it is well worth it. After my first session, she toned my hair into an ash/blonde which looked super nice! Definitely debating going back to that color after my current hair. Because I was late to my second session, I was unable to bleach it more, but Becca did wonders with my hair and turned it into a beautiful blue/blonde/silver! I fell in love with my hair both instances, and I am so happy with the colors of my hair! I have definitely found my new go to hair stylist for color! read more

I've been coming to see Marlene for about 7 years and I never left disappointed. Marlene is the best. She takes her time and always makes sure you're happy with the results. If you're looking for a hair salon look no more and make an appointment. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been coming here since late 2022, usually every 8 weeks. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Hector and he's been my go-to ever since! I have really thin hair, and together we've been able to grow it out. He listens to what I want and also has great suggestions. After the initial cut, he spends time "personalizing" the hair style to fit my face. It's not the cheapest hair cut, but totally worth it. I don't trust many with my hair, especially because it's so thin- a lot of people say they know how to work with it but they don't! Hector is amazing and the salon itself is cute and cozy. Give this place a try! read more

In desperate need of a haircut and new stylist. After browsing yelp and making a few inquiries, gave Refine a call. BEST DECISION EVER! Was able to make a same day appt. day before NYE. I was lucky enough to book with Hector and might I say, he is badass. I have long hair, almost down to bottom of my back. Have had the most difficult time finding the right stylist to care for my hair with experience in cutting long hair. Hector did a spectacular job!!! I couldn't be happier. Maintained the length and fixed the horror from last stylist. My hair is healthy and evened out. Throughout process he checked to make sure what I wanted, made recommendations and was overall, amazing. Found my go-to stylist FINALLY! read more

Diana was wonderful!! Attentive and polite, she made sure to see what kind of look I was going for and she made it happen! My hair started off really dark and I wanted to lighten it without looking too blonde. Diana did just that-- she made sure I was satisfied during every step of the process. Since a balayage takes quite a while, she made coffee for me and even offered to get me lunch. Truly the best hair salon experience I've had in a while. Thank you, Diana! Worth every penny. For reference, my balayage cost $120, not including tip. A great price for such a job well done! read more

Becca is uhhhhmazing! She's worked miracles on my head. I've done all kinds of nonsense to my hair on my own or with a previous stylist. About a year ago I had the ends of my hair lightened and put blue into it. The rest of my hair was black. Once I was over the mess of having blue in my hair I dyed black over it. When I got over that I put red in my hair then AGAIN dyed it black. So when I came to Becca I had black hair (red/black with the old blue still kind of hiding underneath dye). I wanted to truly lighten my hair and put some blond into it. First session was a mess of ugly green and copper getting pulled from my hair in different places due to the multiple different homemade dye jobs. Luckily Becca came up with a plan when this all happened and through a couple different processes slowly starting fixing the mess. Now my hair is looking great and I don't plan on stop considering she's also been keeping my hair super healthy throughout the lightening process. I'm gonna go ahead and put a picture up too so everyone can see how much lighter she's gotten it in just two sessions versus how dark my hair was at the start. Definitely go in and let her work her magic on you!! read more

Jessica has been doing my hair since I can remember! She is amazing, I am always happy with the results. She really knows what she is doing. She understands textures of your hair and knows what cuts and styles will look good with that texture. I have very straight and heavy hair but she always makes it look voluminous. Even after all of these years of highlighting my hair is still as healthy as ever! She always uses great product on my hair and styles it perfectly! She recommends great hair products and styling tools as well. I just bought a blow dryer she used on my hair and am very happy with it. Love, love, love her! P.S. This salon is very nice, clean and super cute. read more

This is such a cute salon!! I absolutely love my hair stylist JESSICA KELLOGG she is amazing!! I highly recommend Marlene if you are interested in getting an Ombre' Balayage. I'm very picky about who I allow touch my hair and she just does a fabulous job! I was a little timid in going lighter on my hair. I explained what I was hoping to achieve and the results were....well PERFECTION!! Better than what I had wanted. She really listens to what you want and allows her hands do the magic. I've received so many compliments about my new color. Thank you Marlene! read more

I've been hair-stylist hopping for a few years now. I would just go where ever I could find a groupon or something and never go back because the difference between the groupon price and the actual price was waaaaay too much. After my visit to the salon on Thursday I can safely say I've found my new hair home at Refine with Becca! I came in with my hair pretty long and about a 4 month old ombré. I asked her to cut off about 8 inches to give me a lob (long bob) and to give me an ombré on my new short hair. I was a wee bit nervous since I've never had my hair that short but since I had looked at Becca's Instagram before I made the appointment I knew I was in good hands. She first washed my hair, cut it and then blew it dry to make sure it laid correctly and went back in to give it more dimension and shape. Then she began to color my hair using two different shades of blonde to give it a more natural and dimensional look. I'm pretty sure what she gave me is considered a bayalage (as opposed to just a plain ol' ombré) and it is PERFECT. Exactly what I wanted! Lighter near the face but still looks sunkissed and natural. No harsh lines or streaks. She took her time applying the color and went back in and added some more before rinsing me off to make sure it was just right. I could tell it was perfect right after she rinsed me and I feel like that's a true test of if your color is good or not - if it looks good wet! Haha. After she blew my hair dry and I saw the finished product I was in love! For my haircut and color is was $155, which I consider to be a steal since I've been quoted $300-400 for the same thing in LA! She did such an amazing job and I will for sure be coming back for cuts and colors. read more

I was looking for a good hairstylist in the area and came across Refine via Yelp. I walked in and was greeted by Marlene who btw was very nice friendly and helpful. She immediately took me in and began to ask questions re: what style I was looking for etc, she then began cutting away. Fast ward,,,loved the cut so much that I went back and even took my sisters in whom also loved Marlene's work. Everyone there is so nice and helpful and the salon is so cute. A long overdue review but thank you Hector!! I am so glad I came across this salon, Hector is just amazing; so friendly and professional. My hair was uneven with my right side shorter than the left from another salon I went to previously. I had a few pictures in mind of how I wanted my hair to look like and Hector worked his magic and I couldn't be more happier with my lob, I absolutely fell in love with it. He took his time to explain to me how the process was going to be and how he was going to cut my hair, for once in forever I didn't feel like I was being rushed out of the salon. He is very skilled and attentive to details and I definitely trust him with my hair from now on. I can't wait to make another visit! Well worth the drive from my school that was an hour away at that time. Also, I couldn't get over the beautiful interior of the salon! Such a chill vibe and atmosphere during my first visit. Would definitely recommend my friends to give this place a call. read more

I finally found a stylist and she's everything I've been looking for. Becca is SUPER sweet, down to earth and does amazing work. She totally paid attention to what I wanted and made sure I got what I wanted. I mainly went for a color change and was just going to settle for a trim since my hair got a hack job with my last stylist, Becca added more layers which I didn't consider at all and totally gave me what I had always wanted to achieve with my last stylist but never quite got. She definitely knows what she's doing and can definitely gage what's best for your hair. She's my go to stylist from now on! read more
