The first time I went here i wanted to dye my hair brown. Anya was nice however she told me this was very hard and she said all she could use was a lightening oil and even then it would be unpredictable because she wasnt sure how much color would come out. She says "Lets try it though" and i was like what...Obviously this place does not have experienced workers or she would be telling me the truth. I however decided to go for it because i desperately wanted a change and of course she mentions the stupid gloss for a charge of 30+ dollars. I dont get it. Whats the point of offering the gloss if it doesnt last after first shower? Its to hide their bad job. So we used the lightening oil and it turned my roots light brown and the rest was still jet black. I cant believe she did not see this coming. She could have told me the truth from the beginning. I know she knew this would happen. Still if she didn't, I'd be surprised at the lack of experience of their workers. I had a prom hair with Taylor. She did a great job but she needs manners. She kept asking me questions but when i responded, she never said anything back... She said what does your dress look like and i showed her and she just makes a noise and doesn't say anything. This is hands down, the best salon I've ever been to. Go on a Friday night because they have their "blow out, and go out" event every week and they have free champagne, fruit & cheese, and do smokey eye shadow on you for free! The manicures and pedicures are top notch - they take their time and pamper you. The staff is SO nice, sweet, and extremely professional. (I ask you - Where else can you get a manicure and 3 glasses of champagne for $15??) I've also gotten my haircut there and it was one of the best haircuts I've ever had. It is an Elite salon (one of only 10 in the U.S.) and a Loreal Professional salon (they only use Loreal Professional hair products and dyes). You can choose from different levels of stylists. I had a junior stylist and she did a fantastic job. If you are ever tired and bummed out after a loooong week, then hit them up on a Friday night, drink some champagne, relax, and let them pamper you. I originally came here for the first time for color correction and the owner was great, as I have very thick hair and it's very dark naturally. something I didn't know was that she was charging me the lower rate to get my roots done for a while, but they don't tell you that, instead they charge you an extra $20 one day out of nowhere and they don't care. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've had several issues. For example, I never asked for this " anoah " special hair dye that doesn't have as much bleach in it, instead they just decided to use it on me on day and charge extra without warning. This caused a chain effect because every time I came in they kept using that exact formula and tried charging me each time, even though I never asked for it. This happened probably 6 times at LEAST, in a row. And I had to mention it every time, that I never asked for it in the first place Aside from that, even with the same formula, I would see different people because I wanted to avoid the over charge for seeing a "master" and each time it turns out to a whole different color. The same exact formula for the same amount of time as I hadn't changed my color process since I started here. One time my roots grew out enough and you could see 3 perfect different shades of color. Really? One time I came in for a hair CUT (not trim) and they set me up with Kerri a "master" stylist. I kid you not he barley trimmed my hair for 3 minutes and charged $90. What i asked for was to get my dead ends cut, and when he was done in under 5 minutes you couldn't even see any of my hair on the floor.... they don't care about how I unsatisfied you are. And they charge you however they please. I came in today just dealing with all this again and I got a Kerri for a second time, and I think to myself are they serious? The first thing he asks is why I see different stylists. Second, he asks me why I want to color my roots, which obviously was because they grew back out, and he even said , that's what you've been doing for a while right? Yeah, so why are you asking why I came to color my hair..? Should I go elsewhere..? And then, he tells me that he noticed I didn't purchase any of their shampoos. And little does he know they used the one they wanted me to purchase last time which ended up making my hair feel a little dry. And he starts telling me you know you may have better results if you purchased the shampoo since it's the same brand of hair dye. Well first off my hair is growing out again and it's perfectly healthy and very shiny. So I don't get why they scold you for your decision to use your own products that's aren't from their salon instead of appreciating the fact that I walked into their business in the first place. My hair isn't easy to handle and I've learned what works for me. And it isn't what they have. I really love this place!!!! I had really damaged, bleached hair that was once a split dye in neon green and purple at home. I wanted a change, so I went to this salon, and asked for blue. We didn't bleach again, so the color came out a really pretty mix of blue and purple. My hair looks so much better and feels so much better, and I am so glad I went here. This is my 4th time at Salon Capri, but first time with Taylor (my former colorist retired from the industry). From start to finish I enjoyed my experience at the salon. I was greeted with smiles and tea and then brought back to Taylors designated coloring station. Taylor consults with me and we decide to brighten me up, by using some beige tons- nothing too ashy because it won't suit my skin color. I trust her decision and we move forward! I have a LOT of hair, but Taylor moved through my foils quickly. My shampoo was sooo relaxing, and I almost drifted off to sleep during my scalp massage. We decided to cut my hair and Taylor thought it best to do it once she had dried it. Color looked great and my cut super healthy. Very happy with the results!!! I went in at 530 and left by 8. I went in as a walk in. The girl at the desk was nice and gave me an appointment with Kate D. Worst thing this woman could have done for me. I have a simple haircut, don't want any fancy frills or anything. She asked how much I wanted cut off and I replied by telling her I only wanted an inch-just the dead stuff. Over 30 minutes later she was still cutting(and checking her phone every minute) which concerned me. After about an hour she had finished cutting my hair and blow drying it. It looked HORRIBLE. It was so uneven, there were these awful fake layers, and she definitely took off a lot more than an inch. I wanted to cry. Hoping I was mildly over reacting, I went home to show my husband. The first thing he said to me was- did our 4 year old cut your hair?! When I called the next day to complain, I was told there was nothing they could do about it. Doesn't seem like a great policy to not back up your staff. So for $70(which is ridiculous in itself for Dedham) I look like an unkempt dog- and I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. On a third time (yes, I went again) a different stylist slipped in the rinse and my $150 cut and color turned into $210 (don't ask me how THAT happened) - this place will swindle you. Unfortunately the experience did not last. Matters went down hill each succeeding time I went back. After reading all the negative reviews about the Legacy shop, I can only conclude that it is going down. The owner hires incompetent relatives here and just does not care about all the shoddy work that is taking place. I guess she feels that she has made her millions and is just getting ready to retire from the business. The last appointment I had took me by surprise. I went to the usual location only to find a big sign in front of the door that said that they had moved to another address in the area. No one bothered to call me about this sudden change of location though I imagine that they knew about it coming the previous time I was there. Very much lacking in sensitivity. I had to go running around the mall trying to locate where they were. The new place is like a wide open barn with very poor acoustical characteristics. Very noisy with all the machines etc. How can this be a good place to even work in with all the noise pollution. I suppose the rent for this location must be cheaper than the previous one. The prices in the past have been astronomical and it was a hit or miss as to whether people were satisfied. I have moved on to decidedly better pastures as have many others judging by the preponderance of reviews. read more

On my first visit, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time. I brushed it off as a one-time thing, but it happened again on my second and third visits (slightly shorter wait times, but still in the 20-minute range). All three times, the other clients who arrived after me were seated either immediately or within a few minutes. They appeared to be long-time clients who were very friendly with the staff, too, so I felt as though they were getting preferential treatment. Very frustrating, and even worse, neither the hostesses nor the stylist ever acknowledged the long wait times. My stylist was OK, skill-wise. I can't think of anything else to say about her ability to cut hair, but her interpersonal skills definitely needed work. After my last haircut, she told me that she didn't think the cut I asked for was going to look good, but she was pleasantly surprised. Wow. Thank you, that's such a confidence booster! After three visits, my overall impression of this salon is that it's a suburban oasis for the 40+ mommy crowd who all know someone who knows someone who knows someone. First of all let me say I love the stylists at the Newton Highlands location my hair stylist there is a 4 star stylist! She works at Dedham once a week as well. I had Kerri(guy) out of no choice to do a last minute blowout at Dedham! Cause my normal stylist she was booked at the Newton location. I can't believe this guy was straight out telling me to come to him for a haircut and that he can do a better job! I had a very disappointing experience at Salon Capri. A friend highly recommended it to me and is so horrified with the experience I had. I've never disliked my hair as much as I do after my $245 cut and color from here. There was an additional fee for a conditioning treatment that I was never asked about or warned about. When I first told my stylist that I was looking for a new twist for my hair, she responded with a noise and facial that implied "Yikes..." She told me she would not be able to complete my style the way that I wanted because it would take over 3 hours. I ended up sitting with foils on my head for 2.5 hours and my entire experience there lasted 3.5 hours. My stylist didn't make any effort to speak to me for the first 3 hours and never offered me anything to drink while I was there. Luckily one of the lovely women who washes hair offered me water and was very sweet. She dried my hair stick straight and at the time it was hard to inspect the color and hair cut. My hair cut is not even, the color is not close to what I was hoping for, and I can't wait to make an appt. somewhere else for them to hopefully fix it. read more

I was just at this salon for the second time in a year. My first experience, over a year ago, was horrid. The stylist did not listen to a thing I said and chopped off 3" of my hair. Needless to say, I hadn't had my hair cut since then. Nick, the salon owner, promised me that when I was ready to get my hair cut, he would take care of me. Well, that he did. I should have known, and also read the reviews... Years ago I went to the salon Capri in Hyde Park. What a horrid, and wicked group ran that! This time, many years later, I needed my roots fixed while my hairdresser was on vacation. Well, at Legacy Place I walked in with roots, and walked out with roots. I also have a red spot (I am blonde) in the front of my head. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, they claimed they had no idea and tried to up sell shampoo I already had at home. This place is a mess. They have no idea what they are doing. It may as well be as hair dressing school and they don't care when you complain or aren't happy. Be warned! I was nervous about coming here, since I did not see any reviews for Brazilian waxes. I walked in I was greeted by the hostess which was very nice. She told me Santina would be out in a few minutes. My esthetician Santina was amazing. I usually do the hard blue wax but wanted to do the strip wax because of the type of wax they use. I must say she did and amazing job. We chatted as she did my Brazilian. Brazilian waxes are never no walk in the park but I must say it is one of the best strip waxes I've ever done. the main problem with Salon Capri (i've been going to 3 of their locations for close to ten years) is that they think they're doing YOU a favor by cutting your hair. the final straw came for me today, when I received a call saying my stylist (the principle of the salon, btw) would have to move my appt (made weeks ago) because he suddenly has a meeting. well, i can't accommodate his schedule so i cancelled the appt. this maybe wouldn't have been so bad except that I had an appointment last month with this same stylist...showed up and, oops, scheduling problem and he's not there and they didn't have my number to call and let me know. WHAT?! this is on top of another stylist I used to see there, who was habitually late and who never, not once, apologized for her lateness. I was in town on business and desperately needed a haircut for a wedding that weekend (it had been over 6 months). I called Salon Capri and had an appointment that afternoon with Kristen (a new stylist to the salon). I am EXTREMELY particular about my haircuts (no layers and keep it long) and my last cut was horrible. I explained everything to Kristen who actually listened!! She repeated the plan for the cut and made sure I was ok with it. She recommended a conditioning treatment and gave me the BEST head massage I've ever had. The actual cut only took about 20 minutes and I loved her comment of "I could continue but this is all we need to do". She then showed me the best way to blow dry my hair using a ceramic round brush. I have naturally curly hair and she was able to get it straight and smooth and looking awesome. The only complaint I have is that my final bill wasn't itemized. I really wasn't sure what I paid $125 for (cut, conditioning treatment and a Kerastase conditioner) but I didn't really care because I had such a fantastic haircut. I'm even more appreciative two weeks later as I'm able to blow it dry the way she showed me and I get compliments on how cute my haircut is. Thanks Kristen! So, $110 for color and I'm really not happy with the color. I was desperately in need of color to deal with my roots and I was heading out of town on a business trip. My normal salon couldn't fit me in that day, so I thought I'd try some place local and supposedly highly rated. I had an older gentleman do my color and a Belarussian woman do my cut. They both were very nice, for sure. But, unfortunately I really don't care for my color, which is now brown on my roots, instead of blond. At least the color does cover the gray! It took me close to 3 years after moving to the Boston area to find a reasonably priced, quality place to get my hair cut. I don't get my hair colored, so I cannot speak to that for Salon Capri. However, the cuts are reasonably priced and my stylist does a great job. She listens to exactly what I want and checks in with me throughout the cut to make sure I am liking it (as opposed to just waiting until the end when there's not much that can be done if your hair is on the floor). The ambiance in the place is nice, very modern and clean. It's also conveniently in Legacy Place in case you need to run some errands or want to do some shopping. I also appreciate that they stay open later on Friday nights, so that you can get your hair done after work and then look great for a night out! I just got a great hair cut at the newest Salon Capri location. AnnaMaria was my stylist. We discussed what kind of style I wanted and she totally understood where I was coming from. I got kind of wet as she was washing my hair (I didn't really mind because it felt great since it was 90 degrees outside) but the massage chair and head massage were awesome. She blew out my hair straight with very little hair spray as I requested. They also offered me something to drink as I entered and brought me a cup of water while I was in the chair. read more

I should have known when I called a few weeks ago to make an appointment and was left on hold forever to stay away from Salon Capri Dedham. After being on hold that day I finally hung up and did not make an appointment. I was there once before and had a great cut so thought I would give the place another try. Naively, recently called spur of the moment to make an appointment for a trim and never asked the level of the stylist. I have shoulder length hair and had 1/2 inch cut off. The shampoo, cut and blow dry took all of 30 minutes. Stylist did not even try to make conversation...whatever. It was just an ok cut and I almost hit the floor when the receptionist told me it was $70. Sadly, I feel it was the most ridiculously overpriced haircut I have ever had. Shame on me. P.S. This is the best cut I've ever had for the bargain price of $35. Yes you heard me, $35. I saw other reviews saying Capri was expensive and figured I'd pay 80-100... But $35!! So my experience was awful. The girl who did my hair was very nice but she was so slow. In addition I wanted my hair to be jet black. I said as black as possible. She said no problem. Sitting there for over an hour I felt forgotten. I was not offered water, tea or anything to drink, and on top of that I was only given one magazine. Finally when my hair was ready to be washed, I sat in the chair waiting yet again for someone to attend to me. The person who washed my hair did not even put on the massage for the chair and when I stood up, WATER WAS ALL OVER MY BACK. She apologized and said sorry that should not have happened. It was her fault that she did not put a towel around my neck. It got worse. My hair color came out dark brown and NOT black. Immediately I said I didn't think it was dark enough but the stylist suggested I let it dry to make sure. Not sure about you but I thought your hair was always darker when it was wet so if I already knew that it was too light why waste the time to figure it out. Once she dried my hair I told her I wasn't happy with the color. She said it looked great and it was probably the lighting. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I am not blind! I felt so uncomfortable that I just rushed to the register to pay.... and it gets worse. For my color - which was not black - and my wash and blow dry - which got my back all wet - it cost me over $165 dollars. I told the front desk I was not happy with my color but she seemed too concerned about the phones ringing and said that I could make an appointment to get it fixed. I am super low maintenance, get my hair trimmed twice a year type of girl. I went in a half hour after calling and was seen immediately by Catrina. I gave her the freedom to kinda do whatever she thought would look good, because my hair was way too heavy and looked awful with it's non-cut. I bought a gilt city voucher to come here for a mani+pedi. Sort of a mistake. I think normally the price for a mani+pedi here is $60 but I paid $35 or $30 (I forgot). I wouldn't come here again even if it was $30 again. They don't do good mani+pedis. The environment is very nice, clean, well interiorly decorated. It's a very high end looking salon. However the quality of the pedicure and manicure I would have to give one star. My manicurist was really really sweet so I feel bad for giving such a bad review, but my paint job was done very poorly. As a person giving a simple manicure and pedicure, one of the most standard and staple things to get down is the painting of the nail. This manicurist was maybe in her late 60s or 70s. When painting my nails with just normal OPI nail polish, she literally painted all over my nails and outside my nails onto my skin. Her technique was to paint everywhere including all over my skin/crease areas then going back afterwards with acetone to clean the skin of paint. This is the worst technique in the world. If this was the way to paint nails I would just paint my nails myself. She didn't even really try to paint ONLY on my nails and stay away from the skin part. She just painted super messily. Ugh. Even in the cleaning up part although I pointed out multiple parts she missed painting or painted over, she still didn't clean up a lot of nail polish stuck in the creases and detailed areas of my toes. Maybe she couldn't see/ had bad eyesight? So I ended up leaving with badly/unevenly painted nails with nail polish stuck in the creases of my toe skin/nail. I won't be coming back here again unfortunately. I really liked the ambience. read more

I have been seeing JILL D. for many years and she is amazing every appointment. When I (reluctantly) wash my hair after she blows it out (very beautifully) I just let it air dry and it looks beautiful still. . . I have been to salons on newbury street and after washing next day I am reminded of the bad haircuts I gave my Barbie dolls in the 80s. Today was my first time visiting any of the Salon Capri locations. I had a cut/color with Tatiana....I couldn't be happier with her work! She really listened to what I wanted and helped me pick out the perfect color combination for my hair. She also gave me an excellent cut/style. The cost was $165 plus a 20% tip. It was definitely worth paying the extra money! Overall, it was a very positive experience for me and I definitely plan on going back to see Tatiana for my next cut/color. read more
