I love this salon. I've been going to Salon Capri in Dedham for at least 6 years. Samantha L is a master at color and cutting. I get so many complements on my hair. The best is that my hair looks good air dried because the color and cut is fab. Sam is loyal and dependable, especially when dressing for special occasions. On the few times when I had to reschedule my appointment and Samantha wasn't available, I have had other stylists, who were very capable. As for customer service, the front desk receptionists are very nice. My daughter sees Amanda and is just as satisfied with her service and the salon as I am with Samantha. read more

I wanted to like this place as it's very convenient for me. I tried doing a color there and separately a cut which I went back a second time trying to fix the mess that Zoe left after doing my cut and bangs. So three visits and each has been disappointing so I will be going elsewhere from now on. A blond color or a simple trim with bang cut are simple services - this should not have been so complex for them. When I went back the third time to ask Zoe to fix the bangs she was so genuinely confused and perplexed at why I had come back despite having my bangs unevenly cut and visibly butchered. I booked my first appointment and my last at Salon Capri. I schedule a single process color, cut and blow dry. My total should have been $186+tip. After talking candidly with the stylist about my color, she said we could do also add some foils. Great I said. NOT a single word that this would mean MORE THAN DOUBLING my cost. $412 (including a $50 gloss which I was not asked about) to be exact. Not a word until I was checking out and clearly blindsided. When I questioned it, asked for someone to explain how that's possible, there were no offers to amend the total. They just said "well, you agreed." I don't understand what about the salon business people think that this is acceptable. When you make an appointment of any kind, and that changes, always, always GOOD businesses will tell you the difference or add-ons in cost. Nail salons do that. Blow dry salons clearly spell this out. And after looking up reviews, I see that this practice goes back 11+ years. This is a sales pitch tactic and it's highway robbery! I've never written a review before, so just know that this was particularly bad. I scheduled a haircut with Vanna, she shampooed my hair and then when we got back to the chair she asked me if I minded if she stepped away for 2 minutes. I said no problem, to which she responded "You sure?" - as if we were girlfriends with a history and hadn't just met for the first time in a salon. Super unprofessional. She disappeared into the back with another client, and after 10 minutes the front desk person walked by, and I asked her if she knew where my stylist was. She went and found her and said "She'll be there in a minute" - super smug and didn't even say sorry about the wait. After 15 minutes of waiting with soaking wet hair I got up and left. I got a balayage last year with Katelyn? I'm not sure if I'm spelling her name right, but I left the salon with wet hair because she claimed she didn't have time to dry it, which is extremely unprofessional because I can't even see the result. By the time the hair dried, I was far away from the salon and I had received blonde streaky highlights, which is frankly not what I asked for at all. The first picture is what I asked for, the second is what I got. And furthermore, when I called, the salon refused to refund me even though I literally was unable to go back in to use the store credit they reluctantly offered. read more

Used to love this place. I moved out of state so took a hiatus for a couple years, but made the 2 hour drive back for an appt when I was wanting to make a serious change (blonde balayage back to brunette). Place/stylist has changed. This was a big/emotional change for me and I felt like everything was *so* rushed. I love getting my hair done and take it seriously/am pretty much game to pay anything so that it will be done right and well, so I was surprised that she rushed through the pics I tried to share. . I ended up unhappy (it turned out REALLY dark when I asked for a medium dimensional brunette), and the stylist just told me "well idk what to tell you, you can go chat with other stylists back home then I guess." So shocked. Then she just walked away and said "k bye!" and I walked myself up to the front counter to pay. Idk maybe she was having a bad day but it all just felt so strange. I heard a lot of good things about this salon before I made my appointment. Definitely scroll through the instagram pages of the stylists to see what kind of hair they usually work with and what their style is. My friend saw Angela and she loved her work. I had another friend who saw Kasey and her hair came out great as well, so I decided to message her on Instagram, went in for a consult (literally less than 10 minutes - she asked me what I've done previously with my hair before and what I'm hoping for as an end result), and booked my appointment for the following week. My appointment was a little over four hours which included a hair cut. She literally took the time and effort to pick out the already blonde/bleached babylights I already had from when I got my hair done in Vietnam as she did full foil on my head. It took Kasey over two hours to get through my whole head and she was considering enough to check on the foils on the bottom to make sure they don't get over-processed and wash them off the ones that were finished as she continued to do the rest of the foils. I think I went back and forth to the sink about 5-7 times including the washing of each section of my hair, toning, and a hair mask. These chairs are massage chairs, I was super surprised, I was very comfortable laying there. The results were great, I have to go back for 1-2 more session if I want my hair to be ashier and lighter since I started off with a brown that had warm reddish tones so it was hard to get off and of course she didn't want to damage my hair by over-processing it in one session. The price was very food for both cut and four hours of work and my hair does not feel dry at all. I'm probably heading back for my second session in April before graduation - it's so exciting! Kasey is very friendly and she even gave me tips on curling my hair afterwards when I messaged her again on Instagram. I've never heard a bad review from her clients, I've recommended some of my friends and they all love their results. Kasey offered to grab me a drink and checked up whether I needed another drink as we went along. She's adorable, check her out! As for the salon as a whole, it's one large, white clean space. They have these cute robes for you to wear so that your arms are free to do as you please. The person at the front desk is really nice. You can only tip in cash! So remember to bring cash with you so you can tip your hair stylist, they work really hard. read more

They were incredibly wonderful throughout the pandemic, and did an excellent job in taking care of their clients and stylist's safety! Now that things are getting back to normal, it has been so amazing to see they are still keeping the health and safety their top priority! All 5 stars to my stylist, Angela. I read every single one of the reviews here before booking an appointment. It seems like other stylists aren't really pleasant to work with. But I am very satisfied with my hair when I left and it's was because my stylist was awesome. Angela spent 5 hours with me!! My appointment was at 9AM and I left at 2PM. Nothing worth having comes easy... ahhah the 5 hours was worth it. We talked about what I wanted (I'm not crazy picky but she get what I'm trying to go for). She trimmed my hair and then started painting and brushing every little strand/sections of my hair. It took a long time for that alone since I have so much hair. Then more waiting for the colors to develop, and repeat the process with more dye, etc. The end result is beautiful. But be warn, the sexy hair comes with a high price. Thanks Angela! Salon Capri is hands down the best salon in the area. I've been to salons throughout the Dedham area and downtown Boston and I am so happy to have finally found my go to salon. My mother and I have both been clients of this salon for many years and we see Vanna and Taylor; however, all stylists are talented, friendly and professional. I was recently married and had them do our wedding hair! Pricing is very reasonable and ranges between services and stylist levels. They have locations in Dedham, Newton and Newbury Street, Boston - I've been to all salons and they are beautifully designed, renovated and CLEAN. I give this place a three start review because I've had on and off experiences with the place; The first time I ever went was for my nails, and the woman was fantastic. She listened to everything I said and did exactly what I wanted, and was very friendly. I felt welcomed and that I could trust the salon. The makeup stylists are fantastic too, and I am always satisfied when I get my makeup done there. However, shortly later I came back but for my hair-- I was getting my senior portraits taken that day and there was something very specific I wanted for my hair. Weeks in advance, and I had made the stylist aware of what I wanted, which was a beach-wave type of look. I arrive to get my hair done, which I set hours in advance before my portraits, and I was seen an hour late. I don't like to be picky on workers who are late to an appointment because I understand sometimes that prior appointments can run late, affecting the next, however, she was talking with another worker the whole time. She didn't even apologize, just told me it was very important. She pulls up the picture I originally gave showing what I wanted and had the galls to laugh at it and then tell me she can't do it. I asked her why not and her reasons were it wouldn't look good on me and she didn't think she could properly execute it. She's the professional, so if she doesn't think it will look good on me, whatever, but she was very condescending and rude. She said she would do something that would make my hair look nice and I explained to her I was on the clock and that these portraits were incredibly important to me. She did something completely different to the natural look I was going to, putting my hair in some up-do and a few loose curls, which was pretty and all but I felt she had given me a look more suitable for the prom, not a senior portrait. I expressed that and her response was, "I'm the professional, I know what looks best." I got it changed in the end where she just straightened my hair but she refused to talk to me the whole time, which I'm presuming was because she was pissed I said I didn't like what she had done to my hair. Last time I checked, I'm the one still in high school, not her, so she should not be acting like a child. To top it all off (besides being late to my portraits) I was charged over 100 dollars for it-- for the bun, straightening the hair, and the curls she never did! I complained to the manager stating I would not pay for something that wasn't even done, and for something I did not ask for. That was sorted in the end but I was very stressed and angry by the end of the ordeal, and unsatisfied with the appointment. I think the makeup and nail artists are fantastic, but a lot of the hairstylists are entitled and rude, and that's a big issue if you ask me. read more

I went to get a Balayage done and I ended up with a full set of foils. I showed the stylist doing my hair many pictures and told her what I wanted to do. The dye bleed through the foils and left stains on my hair. The lines are easily seen, I looked like a tiger. I went back to get it fixed for free and it still came out terrible. I spent over $200 there for something that looked BAD. I ended up going to another salon and spending more money to get my hair finally how I wanted it. Overall, I was left very disappointed and angry. I definitely do not recommend going there and I will not be going back. read more

Really pissed I wasted 215$ dollars here. I had been to this salon once before and I had an ok experience and I thought I'd give it a second chance today but I should not have. I sat down with a "expert stylist" who said she had been there for 20 years (which raised a few flags, meaning are they up to date with current techniques and able to keep up) and just asked me what I wanted. I explained how I needed to get rid of brassiness and wanted a partial balayage. I asked her what she thought for color after explaining I wanted something soft and not brassy and she said "let's go brighter"..... ok..... Then she started painting the 'balayage', singling out strands of hair like how foils are prepared (alternating strands) and just putting the product in blocks straight to the roots. I started to get concerned because none of the color was being painted in at an angle (to create that natural looking effect). Then once i'm done processing she brings me to the sink and put my chair back and all of a sudden it feels like butt is being pushed up and then I realized it was some weird attempt at a massage chair, she never asked once if I was comfortable or if my neck needed adjusting. Then she gets another stylist to tone my hair and finishing shampooing. I can feel water trickling down my ears and starting to get my shirt up but I didn't think it was much of a problem. She puts the toner in for TWO minutes.... TWO MINUTES. I have never had a toner sit in for that short period of time before. I sit up and the ENTIRE back of my shirt is completely soaked wet. Now i'm back at the chair waiting for my blow dry and I show her a picture of what I'd want and she glanced at it and was like ok sure. I'm looking at my hair as she continues to blow it out and it looks like i've had a botched highlight job, not even an attempted balayage. I can see big block chunks of color that looks just like bleached blonde. She never discussed color again with me and I guess decided I wanted an ice blonde. The blow dry turned into her version of beach curls which just looked like I had prom hair. Then I went to check out and she said "balayage, gloss, and blow dry". 215$$.... I've paid that much before so I wasn't too shocked but for that level of terrible work??? Really?? Balayage... Where? Gloss.... for 2 minutes! Blow dry... a waste of energy. The first front desk girl booked me with the wrong service, the second front desk girl didnt let the hair dressor know after checking me in. The hairdessor was mad at the manager over booking him, and refused to do my hair. I guess this is more of a 2 1/2 star review. First off, the salon thinks it's a lot cooler than it is. It's a big empty space with no discernible aesthetic except bareness. It's not minimalist, it's just empty. Decor is the least of its worries. I went there to get my hair colored and I spent several minutes arguing with the stylist about the color during the consultation. I wanted medium/dark brown hair with no undertones. No red, no golden, no nothing. Neutral brown. Neutral. The stylist explained that all brown has golden undertones. Huh? If that's the case, and it isn't, put some green in it to tone it down and neutralize the color. Maybe worse than the color of my hair is that the dye didn't cover my grays. I told her over and over and over that I needed to have them colored. I swear, she didn't listen to anything I said. The stylist knew that I was unhappy when I saw the results. She kept on taking me to different mirrors and lighting to see the color. Yes, I see the color. It's got red in it. What. The. F. She told me that if I didn't like it, I should call her in a couple of days to get it redone. I don't want her to redo it. I don't want to fight with someone to get the hair color I want. I want someone who knows what they're doing to redo it. For free. And here's the kicker, it was $100! The color was $65 and the five minutes she spent blow drying my hair was $35. Are they kidding me? For $35 I want it to by styled, not just dried for a couple of minutes while the stylist counts the seconds until I leave. read more

This place is a joke. An overpriced joke. It looks nice and clean inside, but I assume you don't pay for an interior design when it comes to a haircut. I had my hair done by Danielle and she offered me some kind of treatment for blonde hair for additional $35, so told me that would last for about 4 weeks, so I agreed. Guess what, there was no sign of this magical treatment after the first wash. I also got a haircut... I have a long bob, so I asked her to cut 1 inch and give my hair a nice shape. What did I get instead? A quick trim within literally 3 minutes and longer hair on the right. This procedure costed me $70 and the total came to $105. What a rip off! My boyfriend also got a haircut at this spot the same day, his "stylist" just told him that she didn't know how to work with a hair trimmer properly, so she just used scissors and a week after my bf looked like he never got a cut. Maybe there are some good people working at this place, unfortunately we were not lucky enough to meet any that day. Will never be back. read more

This is a complaint about the management, not the workers; they are great. I went in for a pedicure and came out with an infection, bad enough to see a doctor and be on antibiotics fir 10 days. They do not sterilize the utensils between each customer and do not use tub liners. I took my fiancé here for a haircut, and it was the worst first experience ever! Our hair stylist, Susan, did an awful awful AWFUL job. My fiance asked her to cut his hair shorter in specific areas but her response was..."Sorry, I can't get it." Seriously? We didn't know how to react to that. We were speechless. Another thing that shook me was the way Susan let her client, my fiance, leave the salon with hair all over my fiance's neck, face, and ears. She didn't wash my fiance's hair. I'm confused, does Capri not wash clients' hairs after haircuts? We left the salon looking worse than walking in. We paid $35, and it was a waste of money. Honestly just don't go here. I came into the salon to get my balayage top up and when I left 3hrs later I had two chunky highlights in my hair. I asked for a v haircut and the stylist gave me a blunt cut. I went back to try and get it fixed but I just walked out the salon with harsher looking highlights that were not well blended. I used to go to this salon because I loved one of the stylists who did my hair. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a higher end salon, clean and very busy. A lot of the stylists and assistants walk around looking like their hate their jobs. The hair wash station is across from the coloring counter and there's always employees behind the counter and you can hear them shit talking from across the room, about other staff AND clients! It's a very uncomfortable environment to be in. I also have heard that the owner/manager does not treat his employees very well. Unfortunately seems like this was a business well established 50 years ago that has lost quality as time has gone on. You'd be better offer spending your money in a place where employees like what they're doing and get treated with respect. Give your money to a smaller salon business during this time. read more

I went to Salon Capri in Hyde Park for 5 years, but then my stylist left for another salon so I went with her. I'd always loved the highlights and cuts she'd given me. Recently, I couldn't get an appointment with her so I thought I would give Salon Capri at Legacy Place a shot because I was in a pinch. The ambiance is great at the Legacy Place spot. Unfortunately, the ambiance is irrelevant when you leave with uneven highlights that prevented me from parting my hair the way I always do. I had to get my hair redone elsewhere. I called the salon this morning with a very urgent hair problem that I received from a different salon. The receptionists were very helpful, and found me a stylist that could help me THIS MORNING! they made me an appointment at 9am, and Mariah completely fixed my hair. Another stylist, Sam, even came over to help and they both reworked the awful bleaching into a beautiful balayage! I am so grateful and will DEFINITELY be going back. This is hands down, the best salon I've ever been to. Go on a Friday night because they have their "blow out, and go out" event every week and they have free champagne, fruit & cheese, and do smokey eye shadow on you for free! The manicures and pedicures are top notch - they take their time and pamper you. The staff is SO nice, sweet, and extremely professional. (I ask you - Where else can you get a manicure and 3 glasses of champagne for $15??) I've also gotten my haircut there and it was one of the best haircuts I've ever had. It is an Elite salon (one of only 10 in the U.S.) and a Loreal Professional salon (they only use Loreal Professional hair products and dyes). You can choose from different levels of stylists. I had a junior stylist and she did a fantastic job. If you are ever tired and bummed out after a loooong week, then hit them up on a Friday night, drink some champagne, relax, and let them pamper you.
