I went to Salon J3 at Men's Field two weeks ago and I'm really disappointed. I asked them to blend my hair color so the line between my natural brown and the blonde highlights wouldn't be so harsh. I even showed them a photo of what I wanted. After paying $188, my hair looked exactly the same -- they didn't fix the color at all, and even added more blonde, which I didn't ask for. When I called to let them know, they told that they could give me another appointment but I'd have to pay another $180+ to redo it. Honestly, it's unacceptable to pay that much and leave with no visible difference. I wouldn't recommend this salon. read more

There is turnover of the more experienced stylists here on a frequent and regular basis. You find this out after you arrive, not when you make your appt. Junior stylists cannot do a decent blowout. Disappointing. read more

I booked an appt for color/full foil/haircut and ended up calling to say I would be 15 minutes late because I hit the wrong direcroons on my waze. I felt terrible being late but I made a mistake. I was told I would have to change my appt from a full to partial foil for the lateness. I asked if I could just skip the haircut instead since what I really wanted was the color, but they refused that. I fully understand that when you make an appt you should be on time, but I thought that they were being very unreasonable for being 15 minutes late for what must have been at least a 3 hour appointment. I had an interesting experience. I went there and had a great hair stylist, she was really nice and did a good job on my hair although hair stylists don't seem to understand when I say BLONDE I MEAN BLONDE but it's okay. I got a MINI face frame, on the website it says $75+ but when I paid it was $228. I WAS SHOCKED. I wasn't trying to fight the price but I emailed the salon just to let them know that I loved the experience but the website should maybe give more clarification about pricing. I know it said $75+ but I definitely wasn't expecting more than $150 but maybe I'm just stupid. Honestly the worst part though was bad customer service. Not one person got back to my email and that's not a good look on a business. I just wish they could've provided more clarification. Again I wasn't asking for them to lower the price or give me money back, I just didn't expect it to be triple what it said. I would've never gone there if I had known I was going to get ripped off. Because I have a mini face frame, she did no more than 10 foils and it could've been blonder- not worth $228! read more

I checked out Jaie3 for the first time about two weeks ago. Highlight, Glaze, Style, Blow dry. I was recommended through a friend and had Kelly D. as a stylist. Kelly was very professional, gave me good hair advice, talked positively, genuinely cared. She cleaned up the grown out faded colors in my hair. The color and style turned out awesome! The salon experience was positive from start to finish. The space is very comfortable and relaxing. I highly recommend giving it a try! read more

I love Jaie3. My whole family comes here, which is myself, my husband and my two sons, who are now teenagers. We have been coming to Jaie3 since my teenagers were small. The stylists have been great with my boys through all their different ages and phases. Small kids, pre-teens, early awkward teenage years and now older teens and young men. My son went through an acne phase, and the Estheticians made him feel comfortable, which could not have been easy. They got his skin looking great and taught him skills to take care of his skin himself. We have always had good experiences, but if I ever had an visit that was not good, I would feel very comfortable letting Heather or Victoria know- because I know that is what they would want. They run a professional shop and want to do great work. I do not go to any one stylist, b/c I alway book last minute. All the stylist are good, and you don't have that possive 'that's my client' feeling at Jaie 3, which is quite unique. I give them 5 stars. read more

Disingenuous, shady nonsense. I had 3-4 good experiences at Jaie 3 with my stylist, Kate. She was great, and the salon itself was nice enough. Sure, there were people training at the chair right next to me during normal business hours... but I gave it a pass. AND THEN... Four months had gone by since I'd been in, so I called to make an appointment with Kate. There was some hesitation on the line, so I asked if Kate was still there and was assured that she was. I come in for my appointment and am greeted by someone named Kate, but she's 10 years younger (and less experienced) than my stylist. Ahem. KATE'S ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. They absolutely knew this wasn't my stylist, but they booked her anyway. I had taken time off work to be there and was already sitting in the salon when I found out. That's completely unacceptable. Who does that?!?! And how uncomfortable for poor "other Kate" to have to explain this to all the customers they duped. She told me she'd had to explain this situation to many customers, so I wasn't the only one they pulled this on. To be fair, "other Kate" was super pleasant and did a good job. But she was far younger and much more inexperienced than my stylist. There wasn't really a difference in cost to account for the difference in experience, either. She let out a horrified gasp when she accidentally cut off a long piece of my hair because she used her regular shears instead of her thinning shears by mistake. Gotta learn to keep those emotions at bay. If she'd said nothing, I wouldnt have had to ALSO be horrified. It turned out ok, in the end though. I really can't get over how inconsiderate it was to book my appt that way. I also find it extremely annoying that I can go to Copley Square AVEDA salons and get a cut and color from a stylist with 15 years experience for the same price this subpar suburban locale charged me that day. My recommendation would be to provide customers with honest, accurate stylist availability information and adjust the pricing structure to account for different experience levels. read more

1/21/15 - Owner called today and was very pleasant -- even offering for me to come back and try another stylist at their expense. I appreciate the offer but declined as I want to stick with my current stylist at another salon. Adding one star to my review for their follow-up, and to clarify my original review: the salon itself seems very nice and I am sure they have many great stylists...that was just not my experience unfortunately. Previously written 12/15/14: Two stars for the nice look and feel of the salon and pleasant staff. But.... Quite possibly the worst haircut of my life. I was overdue for a cut and in a hurry, so thought I would stop by this place near me as a walk-in. Regret, regret, regret. This uneven hack-job looks like my 5 year old cut it and when I said it looked uneven the stylist seemed confused and assured me it was not. Looks like I'll now be spending additional time and money this week at another salon trying to fix this mess. Ugh, lesson learned. read more

My daughter (19 years) just left the salon with a cut and highlights. It was a straight 3 inches off the bottom with light layers, nothing major. They charged $250!!! We are appalled. She had the same service in August and it was $100 less. When she booked the appt they told her it was a $20 price difference. No one told her the total price when she booked it. They ripped her off knowing she couldn't dispute it after the charge. She had said she wanted the same service as in August so it clearly should not have been $100 more. Never ever walking into that rip off again. Newbury Street charges the same prices. Get over yourselves ripping off 19 year old students. Shame on you! read more

I became a customer at Jaie 3 (previously Jaie Stuart) about 5 years ago. I found a stylist I really liked, but after only a couple of visits with her, I was informed that she had "left the industry". So I started with a second stylist there, whom I really liked. She always listened to what I wanted and gave me a great cut. My stylist was the one discussed in the previous review by Erin on 9/30/11. And I second Erin's opinion. I will not return to Jaie 3 as I am tired of their turn-over of stylists. And I had also heard a rumor they were spreading about my stylist - they shouldn't be discussing her departure at all - very unprofessional. It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I will go elsewhere. There seems to be a lot of internal problems there. I want a salon with consistency. Jaie 3 is not what I'm looking for. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!! I went to this salon to get hair extensions about 7 months ago. The stylist, who no longer works there, convinced me to get extra extensions for future applications. I paid for the extensions but the stylist never gave them to me. She said it would be better and safer to leave it at the salon. When I found out she left her job, I contacted the owner, Heather, asking for my extensions. Heather has exhibited ZERO PROFESSIONALISM. I have never been treated with such disrespect including not returning phone calls, trying to explain why it was so difficult for her to solve the issue and providing no solution for a paying customer. I still don't have my extensions. I will never return to this place! I don't recommend it in any way to others! read more

I have been loyal to this salon for years now! I have tried many salons in Newton and Back Bay and will never go anywhere else! Kyle is the stylist I go to and he is the best! I always get compliments on my hair after I get it done. He does beautiful natural highlights on my naturally dark blond hair. He does a beautiful job cutting hair as well. After moving to Metro West and going to so many places to find a decent wax, I finally found Jaie 3. Finally, people who know the art of shaping your brow. The rooms and spa area are immaculate and the people there know what they are doing. I have had the bikini wax and they did a great job too. Also, I have used the pedicure services of Kathy. She is really good and does a great job. Although I have used many Asian pedicurists, I find that they are really aggressive about going after every miniscule bit of cuticle and in some cases have caused me an infection. Kathy does a great job and I am grateful that she isn't digging and cutting into every single crumb of cuticle. If that's what you like, then you probably won't like it here as she is thorough but isn't OCD about getting every speck. I love it here and would try the hair stylists but love who I go to now. The inside of the salon is all new and sparkling. Plenty of parking as it is in a strip mall with Sahw's and Marshall's. read more

I recently received a gift certificate from my boss to come here. I was a little skeptical at first because I had been going to the same place for so long and I'm not one for change, but my overall experience at Jaie 3 was amazing!!!!!!!! I received a facial from Jamie she was so nice and spot on with everything. She addressed my skin concerns and helped me find the perfect skin regimen. My skin has never looked so great! As for the rest of the staff every one was so kind and polite. I was greeted when I walked in and when I checked out. I can honestly say that I walked in a stranger and left as a friend. read more

I recently had my color & cut done here. The interior is pretty, but my results and experience was just ok. A young girl Molly was washing hair, she was loud and very unprofessional. She was talking about one of her pets that has mange. Mange is awful and can be transferred to humans, and they call it scabies.I wish I had overheard that conversation before she washed my hair, I would have walked right out ! I went to this salon for a facial several months ago which was good. The space was clean and typically well designed and the staff was professional. However, when I went back a few weeks later for a pedicure I was disappointed. First of all, the space is not private or relaxing. It's kind of like they ran out of space for pedicure stations and put it in the hallway. There was no peace or quiet. I also thought the pedicure was not worth the 50$+ price. The massage was super quick and the entire pedicure was much shorter than they claim it is in the brochure. It didn't matter though, because there was really no chance of relaxing anyhow based on the space. Lastly, this salon does NOT allow you to put gratuity on a credit card, so if you don't carry cash they ask you to go use the bank machine next door and return. For me, I don't usually carry cash, so I would rather go to many of the other places that allow you use your credit card. read more

I have been to many spa's but nothing like this! The place is amazing! It's clean, the people are SO friendly! I received a massage from Alisha who was incredible. She made you feel so comfortable and was attentive to my needs. As soon as I walked in I was offered a glass of water which immediately made me feel welcomed! The music and the room made for a tranquil experience! After my massage I had my eyebrows waxed by Annie. I get my eyebrows waxed all the time and I hate it because it hurts me. Normally when I get my eyebrows plucked it makes my eyes tear up. Annie waxed my eyebrows and I barely felt a thing! She even plucked a few hairs and it didn't hurt once. Needless to say I was extremely impressed and plan on going there more often instead of the spa I was going to before. I even live an hour away from the spa but the commute is worth it! read more

I recently tried Jaie3 for a facial. The setting was very stylish and inviting. The esthetician asked me many questions up front about my skin and products I use to help select the right products and facial for me. The experience was very relaxing and not only did my skin glow when I left, but it looked like a few years came off my face. They gave me a list of the products they used and what they would recommend I use daily, but I did not feel like it was a pushy sale. One star because I enjoy the overall esthetic of the salon however I went in for a root touch up and was unhappy with the product after I went home and live with it for a few hours. I recently went platinum (done at another salon which ended up being too far away to travel regularly) so I came here. After my appointment my roots were yellow and not the cool silver platinum I expected. Somehow the rest of my hair also managed to get ruined too, my tips are a brassy orange/yellow and then the rest of my hair was toned so much that it now has a purple hue to it. After I told my stylist that I was unhappy with it she told me that she would have to charge me another $50 to fix it because she gave me a discount and the service I got would've cost me $250 instead of the $120 I paid for the root touch up & cut. This is upsetting since when I booked the appointment in person I asked her how much it would be to maintain my roots regularly...I was told $80-$90 but definitely under $100 no discount was mentioned.
