Emelia took her time helping me decide on a color for my highlights. She took care with each foil and then used toner after to ensure good color. She listened and made sure to cut everything well. I found Emelia at 215 salon through Groupon and boy was that a great deal. She was awesome. She actually listened and was a master at giving me the haircut and color that I wanted so much. Amazing! I'm here from out of town and wanted to do something nice for myself. This salon had good reviews so I reached on on FB to make an appt. Chloe responded and I booked an appt for highlights, conditioning, and cut. I had long gorgeous hair and before Chloe started I explained to her that my hair is my everything, the essence of my being. I went to a previous "hairstylist" who completely messed up my hair trying to give me a balayage (which is what I was going for originally). She (Jenn) does NOT work at Salon 215, but a different salon in downtown Reno (Outsiders Hair Salon). She ended up bleaching my hair too close to my roots and toned it. At the end of the day, it looked like I had my roots growing out and the color was copper penny/brassy. I refused to go back to her due to my fears of her damaging it even further and most importantly because of her negative attitude when I explained to her that I was not happy with how she left me. She went ahead and lectured me on what balayage is and that "this is what I asked for". Fortunately, Spencer was available to see me the next day! He came in on his day off and was at the salon with me from 4-8! He took care of me and color corrected the situation (because at this point it was so jacked up). He walked me through everything he was doing and expected me to voice how I felt about the end product. I felt confident and had faith in his work, most importantly, he made me feel comfortable in expressing how I felt about what he was doing. Moved from the Bay Area in California just recently where you can find a pretty good barber easily and an exceptional barber with just a little effort. I was pretty nervous coming to Reno and finding a barber who would continue that experience, especially after reading reviews at other barber shops. Rich knows what he's doing here and is a great guy all around. The moment you're greeted here it is an awesome, laid back, and extremely friendly atmosphere -especially by Rich. He's probably one of the few (only?) true men's barbers in Reno with a solid background for cutting men's hair from his days in San Francisco California. I wanted my short, edgy comb-over back and that's exactly what I got. Sometimes communicating what you need with a barber is difficult, but that's not the case here. I chose Salon 215 South when I decided to do something drastic to my hair when I've never had anything but minor high lights before. I scheduled an appt with Cayde, and to get the look I wanted she bleached my hair. Since it was my first time, neither of us had any way of knowing how my hair would react. My hair ended up turning a copper color instead of the blonde I was looking for. Cayde really went above and beyond by having me come back in on her day off to redo my hair and the end result was exactly what I wanted. She didn't even charge me the second time I came in even though it took her three hours. Ruined my hair. I went to Devlin, nice guy but did nothing of what I asked. I asked him to lightly trim my hair and to layer my hair with long layers. Instead, it looks like he lifted the outer length of my hair and notched it or did a nitching underneath, leaving it with a really short layer underneath and a long layer over it. Looks ridiculous. I was able to get a last minute appointment with Richie on a busy Saturday. Very cool.
