Today I had my second appointment with Mikayla. 6 weeks ago I walked in with pandemic level roots, brassy blonde tips and sprinkles of gray all over. She helped tone my hair and get a gorgeous ice blonde. I loved it but my hair wouldn't stay cool blonde and would turn warm blonde despite my hair care routine. (This has happened before in my home state as well) Today I walked in and asked her to help me get back to my normal dark brown base with gray lites to blend my natural grays at the age of 34. She spent just as much time with me today as my first appointment showing me photos and discussing options and being transparent and honest about expectations. I truly appreciate her patience, professionalism, and honesty. After several weeks in quarantine, I scared myself when I looked into the mirror- my hair was riddled with split ends and I was mildly convinced that Suwanee's climate had changed to that of a tropical rain forest according to the frizz floating from my strands. I immediately booked an appointment at Genesis with Stevie (who is one of the sweetest and personable people I've ever met). I was very pleased by the entire experience. Genesis has done an excellent job in keeping its clients and employees safe- my temperature was taken before I could enter the building and we were instructed to wear masks the entire time. As for my haircut, I'm as clueless as it gets when it comes to style but I was interested in getting bangs and Stevie suggested a haircut that perfectly suited my hairline and face shape. I've had my hair cut here for last handful of years now and all but maybe one time have had a phenomenal experience. From the relaxing hair wash experience to the cut to the amount of time the stylists put into my hair. What I love about it too is that I usually go there for just a cut but they don't treat it as 'just a cut' they are great at listening to what my needs are. I have been going to Gabby last couple of visits/years and she's been great. She cares, gives great feedback, gives careful consideration to my hair. I understand the salon has had a bad review on asian hair but I am asian and have asian hair and Gabby does a FABULOUS job and really understands my hair which I really appreciate! I've got to say that I'm not a salon kind of guy. Great Clips has usually been plenty good enough for me. I've never had a regular stylist, but I'd never gotten a bad cut either so why wait the extra time? Well that changed about a year ago when a stylist decided to get creative with my hair, and I left with something close to a buzz cut. I wore a hat for two weeks straight. Genesis had come highly recommended from a friend so I thought I'd give them a try. Its a year later, and I've never been happier. I always book my appointments with Marie. She is very personable and an enjoyable stylist to talk to. She pays extreme attention to detail and is a bit of a perfectionist with her work. It means I probably stay in the chair a few minutes longer than I otherwise would, but the results speak for themselves. The atmosphere of the salon is inviting, and the desk staff are always friendly. I'd highly recommend this salon, and Marie in particular. read more

Genesis saved my neck. In the past four years, I moved to Suwanee and I have been going back to Columbia, SC to get the only perm that works on my fragile yet perm resistant hair. Ashley did an excellent job on my perm. She is their dedicated perm expert. I'm 71 years old and I had my first perm at age 12. This was the most perfect roll-up job I've seen. I came with more than the normal amount of request. I had a picture of how we can't cut my hair, and pictures of how I need it to look. Ashley nailed both the perm and the haircut. It's not always easy to find a highly skilled technician that LISTENS well, communicates well, and delivers the goods. I've had some hair mishaps in the Atlanta area. Frankly, it was a plus to discover that Ashley speaks ENGLISH ....lol. The salon is beautiful, and spotless. A very Zen experience. I no longer have to return 3.5 hrs to my prior beautician due to challenges with special needs hair. read more

I decided to check out Genesis after a recommendation from a friend and a quick google search. I original chose it over other salons because $23 for a hair cut and style is a great price and I am so glad I did. I got Bri who is an amazing stylist. I told her some ideas of what I wanted but I was really vague because I didn't really know what I wanted. She took my ideas and suggested a sharp angled bob with layers and bangs. What I really liked about her was that she looked at my hair and asked me what I normal did with it and I also told her what work I wanted to do. She gave me a look that fits both my laziness and my need to look good. She added volume and bounce to my hair that it previously didn't have and so now I look a lot more put together and professional. Overall I would absolutely recommend asking for Bri, I know that when I next need a haircut I will be going to her. read more

Go see Stevie! Great salon, very clean, very courteous staff at the front desk. Everyone is always welcoming on your arrival. This is not a snooty salon, which is very nice to find in our area. Make sure you make an appointment with STEVIE! She's amazing! She's done several color corrections on me, changed me from blonde to brown to blonde again and never ceases to amaze me with what she can do with color. She also does "fashion" colors that I'm very impressed with, but too reserved to do. I've seen people in the salon and comment on their pretty purple/blue/green hair and she usually replies with "Thanks, I did that!" Seriously, these colors are gorgeous, I so wish I had the nerve to go for it! She's also tried different cuts on me, and does them just right. It's like she always knows what I'm looking for better than I do. You will not be disappointed with her services, I promise! read more

So, sometime in late December I came here for just a regular haircut, nothing crazy. But when I left....I had a giant chunk in the back at least 4 inches shorter than the rest. Just to clarify I did not ask for layers, I just asked for a clean cut...no layers...just straight across. The reason I am writing this review now, months later is because...I am a respectful...peaceful..humanitarian..which is also why i'm giving Genesis 2 stars instead of 1. I thought i would have let it go by now, but it affects how i style my hair every single day. No ponytails...no buns...no braids..because a giant chunk will either completely fall out or stick out from the braid. A few months back I went in for color. Missy or Misty did my hair? I had a picture of what I wanted and I spoke with her about my likes and dislikes, specifically stressing I didn't want to come out with a brassy or caramel color. She assured me it wouldn't turn out like that. She pretty much did what she wanted, I hated the results. I wanted an ombre balayage look and that's not what I left with.....I refrained from writing this immediately Bc she did use the excuse that my hair was damaged and that I needed to come back in a few more times to get my hair to the brightness I wanted.... I went to a different salon today and got exactly what I wanted... I am giving it 2 stars Bc I did get a great haircut from Melanie at this location before... I'm about to go back to school for my second year at college and don't do my hair super often but enough and today on a whim I decided to go get my hair done called for a 2 o'clock appointment and they fit me right in. Joie I believe is how you spell it greeted me with 2 minutes and from there it was only amazing, 3 hour process but have never been so in love with my hair. Gave me her business card and I already have it ready for my next appointment and told me how amazing I looked with it. Even took before and after pictures hopefully they will be up soon!!!! Please understand, I really needed a haircut & some style. I needed something suitable for a more mature woman & it had to look natural. A $10 hair cut was not considered. The last time I had one of those, it took me 5 years to muster the courage to allow someone to have a go at my hair. I had to have a stylist, and this person had to have serious skills. I've been to a few stylists here at Genesis, and they are all FANTASTIC! I do have to say, none of them have made me feel as comfortable and confident in their skills than Mia! She was FABULOUS! My highlights looked incredible, I came in for a haircut very unsure, and she was able to work with the little amount of notes I gave her! My cut turned out so beautiful! She created amazing layers and I have never felt this confident about having my hair so short! I am shocked that I haven't seen more reviews raving about her, she is phenomenal! I recently moved to Georgia and the transition has been less than stellar. Thankfully, the one positive has been my trip to this salon. Today was my second visit to Genesis with my stylist, Kiki. I love this salon! I was able to come in with 3-4 inches of root growth and walk out getting a beautiful platinum blonde and killer cut! I had an appointment with Morgan for the first time yesterday, and I was so impressed. She spent hours putting foils in my hair because my hair is so thick, and it came out exactly like I wanted. I have red hair, so if it's not done right, it can come out super brassy when I go blonder, but it was so light and clean when it lifted. So after a month of letting the color fade out on its own, I called Genesis at the recommendation of several colleagues.
