Customer service is terrible. Beck overcharges and under delivers. The Suwanee location is much better.

I am normally an old school barber shop kind of guy. But for my first haircut in a year, I felt The Wild Mop needed something more, so a recommendation brought me to Salon 124. The physical arrangements were very nice. Everything was bright and clean. The staff was all masked and gloved. They took temperature at check in. I was a bit surprised that there was no place to hang my coat and I was told just to lay it in a chair. The hairdresser I was assigned, Beck, could not have been nicer. She had a firm yet gentle touch with the shampooing. However it was obvious she was less practiced with Men's hair and the term 'business cut'. She cut it rather short on the sides and even after I asked her to snip some stray long hairs, I found others when I got home. Overall, the results were perfectly fine, but for the price I expected better. Doubt I'll be back for my regular trim. read more

I went in for my first appointment about a week ago and loved it! I saw Sydney who was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she gave me advice on balayage color options. I love how it turned out! And she did a great job cleaning up my split ends and shaping up my layers. And the pricing was great! I've had the same thing done at a salon in Buckhead and was charged almost twice as much! The only con I'd say is when I first called to schedule an appointment, I was put on hold for almost 30 minutes. I ended up hanging up and calling back, and was able to schedule an appointment then. But other than that, I had an amazing experience and will definitely be going back! read more

I went to Genesis and got a GREAT haircut from Deanna. I had booked an appointment about a month ago and due to my crazy busy schedule I had to cancel. This morning I got an email from Katie letting me know they had an available appointment at 5:15. I happened to be available so I snagged the appointment. Deanna got me in right at my appointment time and didn't mess around (I love a girl that can appreciate a busy girl's schedule). She asked what I wanted and made some great recommendations. Super sweet and professional! I was in and out in 30 minutes and got a great cut. Thanks so much for the email nudge, fantastic service and great cut! I have been many times to Genesis Salon for hair cuts and they were good- affordable and looked good Unfortunately the first time I had my hair highlighted was by Chris, a level 2. I believe she left the bleach on my hair for 40+ min and my hair is fine. She left the main Salon area and did not check on me. After all was said and done, I got a hair cut that I had to go back and get fixed and was left with ugly highlights. My hair also became unbrushable because of tangles from being over processed. The worst part was that for an educational salon, a manager never checked on me and the novice stylist. I think they could have prevented the over processing and checked to make sure the highlights and cut looked good. read more

2014: UPDATE: Jenn Breithaupt is now at Halo Salon in Suwanee. She is absolutely fabulous! I have extremely curly, fine and unruly hair. It also grows very slowly. I've dealt with this for YEARS by wearing my hair either in a ponytail or back in a clip and getting it cut every 6 to 9 months (typically stopping at whatever Great Clips was nearby and getting "whoever is available" to cut it). As you might imagine, I've had some DOOZY hair cuts. When you are a Curly Girl, you already deal with a love-hate hair relationship... so when a friend recommended Genesis at Hamilton Mill, I had the stereotypical salon "image" in my head.... overly coiffed and overly made-up women spending Ridiculous Amounts of Money for a haircut, giving each other air kisses and talking nonsense about "let's do lunch". Utter silliness. But my friend kept telling me how GREAT it was, so I went. And I met a wonderful (fellow Curly Girl) named JEN who "gets" my hair (because - eureka! - she has the SAME hair!) She was kind, listened to everything I said, discussed options with me, etc. then proceeded to give me one of THE best (if not the best) haircuts I've ever had. My hair is now bouncy, full and HAPPY (much like me, I might add). I cannot say enough about how positive my experience was! AND - as a surprise bonus - the prices were WAY less expensive than I was expecting. (Actually, it only cost me slightly more than that crappy, assembly line haircut I used to get at Great Clips.) I've been coming to this salon for several years now, and always to Karinna. I have long, fine, brunette hair that is very easily damaged from processing. I also like subtle color adjustments on a frequent basis. So far over the years Karinna has taken me from black, to red, to blonde ombre, to brunette, to rose-gold ombre, to black... all with minimal damage. I should also mention that while I come in with references, I should emphasize that I like subtleties, and she always always understands me. I don't require much in the way of elaborate haircuts, so I really can't comment on that, but if her talents in cutting are anything like her talents with hair color and skill with communication, you'll be fine! The salon itself is always clean, and I appreciate that they stay updated on trends as well as the classics. The recent switch from Redken to Keune/Bb products was such a welcome change! Redken salons are everywhere! If you want to try something new, come here. The Keune products smell amazing. (It's not worth docking a star, but if I could offer the salon some constructive criticism, the shallow sofas under the heaters may save space, but gosh, they're uncomfortable. You won't hear me complain if something a little deeper was brought in so I could stop sliding off.) read more

Although I was satisfied with my cut, it took my stylist just under 2 hours for a trim. I have very short hair. First she had to consult another hairdresser to be certain she was cutting it correctly than she trimmed the sides and the back only and tried to style it which took two hours. read more

The staff at the front can come across very pretentious, but get past them and make an appointment with Leah Sherriff. She is very talented! She has a gift for coloring hair in a variety of trends. DO NOT go here worst salon ever. beck completely ruined my hair. they do not know how to even straighten hair. I am never going back here and will be sticking to my other hairstylist she is amazing and literally made my hair look so beautiful but these people completely ruined it and now we have to restart. She also charged me a price completely different than what I was told when I went in for a consultation. she also rushed me and now my hair is the worst it has ever been because of all the products she applied to it. The salon is cheap and you get what you pay for instead I would pay a bit more but at least use products that are not Walmart quality. never again. these people need to learn how to do hair and use products that are actually meant to make peoples hair better not worse. read more

THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I WILL TRUST WITH MY HAIR!! After my hair had not been dyed for about 8 months, it was definitely time for a refresher. Galen did an absolutely gorgeous balayage on my hair with a simple trim up. I meet with clients on a regular basis, and my clients are continuously raving to me about how beautiful my hair color is. My hair is a naturally sandy blonde with highlights already in it, so Galen was adamant about not coloring the roots, only lightening the bottom. Her advice and expertise was on point and I'm soooo thankful that I've found a salon and stylist that don't just care about the dollar amount spent, but making my hair look the best it can. read more

She has great knowledge of hair and a very friendly personality. I have always gone to someone different for a hair cut and never have enjoyed a salon experience thoroughly. Mainly because most people did not know how to work with my heavy and thick hair. Madison knew how to manage my hair and create the color and style I wanted. I visited Genesis for the first time today to get a new haircut. If you're a follower of my reviews you know I have had a really difficult time finding a stylist that not only isn't outrageously expensive but also who understands my vision when it comes to my hairstyle. And I am proud to say I found it here at Genesis!! The pricing is truly amazing and my stylist is great! She knew exactly what kind of look I was going for and was actually almost as excited as I was to make it happen! Also, when I asked for advice about color she didn't just brush me off or tell me anything I said ie. Orange would look amazing on me :) We talked about different ideas and how they would look with my features she gave me her honest input which to me is a vital part of a good working relationship. As for the salon it is new, clean and comfortable the front is a bit brightly colored but the back is more calm with blues and whites. Overall, a relaxing fun experience and I walked out really pleased with my new look. I am also thrilled to let you know that I went ahead and set up a color appointment & my next haircut appointment in advance (I NEVER do this!) My point is if you live in the middle of no where like me and don't want to drive into the city to get your hair done definitely make it a point to try this salon out. read more

As someone who hair EXTREME hair salon anxiety, I can truthfully say I am overjoyed with Genesis Salon. My first visit was 1/4 with CJ. I walked into a beautiful, inviting salon. I set an appointment at 2 and CJ was ready to go as soon as I got there! My appointment was originally for just highlights but I ended up getting highlights and lowlights. CJ listened to my concerns about my hair and what I wanted then confidently gave me a solution that created a result better than what I even imagined. I then asked her about hair care and she talked to me about a few products without being pushy which I love. I ended up buying shampoo and conditioner from the salon which I never do. I will definitely be going back to Genesis and have CJ do my hair again! read more

I love that you get a chic salon experience here with more reasonable prices than you find some places. (I just can't pay $40+ for a haircut and feel good about it. My cut here was $28.) I called one afternoon to see if I could get a color and was able to go in that evening after work. I saw Nara who was friendly. I told her I liked a particular section of my hair which had be the result of a couple processes and some summertime fading. She went away for about 20 minutes to try to match the color. The color match was actually pretty spot on and I liked how my hair felt after the color process. She even did a bang trim free of charge- my previous area salon charged $15 for a simple bang trim. I also got a conditioning treatment on special. I wasn't blown away by the experience though the color was fab. It did take a long time for everything. I would go back to see Nara because she did a great job matching the color I liked with no damage. I thought their products were priced well. My previous salon was over 55% mark up and it was nice that Keune was quality AND affordable i.e., not $40 for shampoo. They were not at all pushy about booking again or buying product. I DO wish they had a referral program. I refer friends constantly to my salon and I came in on a referral and had no "reward" whereas previous salons have offered discounts. They didn't seem to care that I was a referral and had sent another friend to the salon. read more

They have absolutely ruined my hair. I've been going here for years and will never be back nor recommend anyone else to go here. My initial stylist that I had always gone to botched my color when I was going from highlights to an all over bleach & tone. She wouldn't stand behind her work (or lack there of) and passed me off to another stylist to attempt to correct it. She tried, although never got it completely right, but had it to a point where I wasn't embarrassed to walk around with the hair on my head anymore. I've continued seeing the new stylist, with hopes that eventually we'd get my hair to where i wanted it to be. The last two visits I've had with her, however, she's been unable to even get all my hair to match or be one color. My roots would be one color, the rest another. TWICE now, I've left the salon with wet hair that looks like my toddler colored my hair, and this last and final time, her suggestion was that I attempt to correct the color that she was unable to with 'professional' products, with toning products at home (And find another stylist who may be able to achieve my hair goals)....which I did. But not before HANDFULS of my hair fell out. I'm used to some breakage and some hair loss, especially after a bleach/color service, but this. This is absolutely unbelievable. The amount of hair that I have had fall out since this last service makes me sick to my stomach. I don't even want to brush or touch my hair, because I know more is going to come out. I was able to fix the botched toning job decently enough to not look like a total clown, but the amount of time and attention it's going to take to physically repair the damage done to my hair after this last visit is really unthinkable at this point. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but hair that I've worked really hard for and take GREAT care of at home is now trashed, and the worst part is, I PAID her to trash it. I've spent close to $1000 in total since this fiasco started and my hair has never looked worse. So, learn from my mistake and just don't go here. Maybe if you've got ordinary hair and low expectations and are just looking for a basic trim or a few highlights, you'd be fine going here. But anything more, keep looking! read more

So I walked into the salon when it opened as I've looking for a new salon. The place is clean and trendy! My stylist was very nice and professional. I walked out feeling pretty good until the next day when I realized how my hair was done. When I left the salon my hair was it's natural curly self but once I washed and flat ironed my hair I noticed my hair was a full inch shorter on one side. I chopped it up as a simple mistake and returned next month for a highlight and cut. Again the place looks amazing and the staff are wonderful. But this time I left unsatisfied. My color was nice but no where near my root and my cut was ok. I feel like I looked better when I walked in. It's to be noted that this salon has girls in training so the gal doing my hair had only been doing hair for 3 months. The pricing reflects the stylist ability but I won't be returning.....I didn't complain about my color because the girl was so sweet and I she was so new to it. I'm just wanting to look and feel amazing when I get my hair done. read more
