I wanna give a shout out to Salon 124 in Suwannee on Moore road. The staff there is all around amazing and the place is BEAUTIFUL (they just remodeled). Whats more is I was feeling pretty down in the dumps when I went in for my haircut (just kinda blah ya know?) Let me tell you my hair stylist changed that real quick! STEVIE WAS AMAZING asking me throughout the hair cutting process if everything was to my liking (it was) (she also chit chatted with me throughout and I loved that! So fun ) she was extremely kind and personable. EMMA also deserves a shoutout bc she was so sweet and did a great job washing my hair! I used to come to this salon when it was still Genesis and I always walked away happy with my hair and the service I received. When I moved back to the area, I figured I would go back to the salon. I came in with bleached hair with some dark roots. I decided to dye my hair grey and when the stylist suggested bringing the roots down, I agreed deciding to "trust the process." After the first wash, the roots that were "brought down" looked almost red. We washed it with clarifying shampoo but the red didn't fully go away. At that point, I tried to see if there were other solutions and asked about coming back to the salon to bleach my roots back to the original blonde of my hair. I was told that because the roots were brought down and my roots were now two different colors, the service would take all day (which I said was fine) and would cost $224 minimum. The only other option I was given was to try to add some cool tone to the roots for "free" and stick with the original $139 price. I was essentially given the option between pricy hair that looked like a DIY dye job or a $330+ process to get rid of a salon error. I walked out with neutral dark brown roots, a ring of a warm tone dark brown, and a well done cool tone grey. I have no issue with my stylist. I understand that bleached hair can be finicky and things happen. However, I have an issue with the management. Not once during the 5 hour ordeal did a manager come over to look at my hair. In addition, telling a client that they have to shoulder the (exorbitant) cost of properly fixing an error that was due to the salon itself is an unacceptable business practice in my opinion. If you're looking for a clean and well maintained salon and are willing to shovel out $$$ in the case of a mistake, Salon 124 is a good option. However, if you're looking for a business that actively takes accountability for its mistakes, I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

I came in last week after making an appointment on line. They have this "get to know your stylist" section on the bestie and I assumed it had like portfolios of all of the stylists, but it was actually a software that matched you with a stylist. I wasn't really a fan of not being able to see the stylists' portfolios. Thankfully, I just left it up to the salon and was paired with Tina. She was super great and really took the time to listen to me. We talked through what I wanted out of my hair and she gave advice based on her expertise. The consult portion probably took a good 15 minutes even though I was just getting a hair cut. After Tina washed my hair, she verified again what length I wanted. I just felt like she really listened to me and what I wanted. I I left very happy with my haircut! I liked that you can text the Salon 124 bot to make appointments, too. The salon itself was really nice and clean. They had a coffee station set up and a mini fridge for clients to get beverages. I will definitely be returning in the future! read more

Today I had my second appointment with Mikayla. 6 weeks ago I walked in with pandemic level roots, brassy blonde tips and sprinkles of gray all over. She helped tone my hair and get a gorgeous ice blonde. I loved it but my hair wouldn't stay cool blonde and would turn warm blonde despite my hair care routine. (This has happened before in my home state as well) Today I walked in and asked her to help me get back to my normal dark brown base with gray lites to blend my natural grays at the age of 34. She spent just as much time with me today as my first appointment showing me photos and discussing options and being transparent and honest about expectations. I truly appreciate her patience, professionalism, and honesty. I walked out of the salon with exactly what I would have hoped for and am so thankful I found this salon on my first search when moving to the area. Mikayla has me as a loyal client. Ok...3rd visit and 3rd blonde process and cut...TIFFANY...you are magical. I love every visit with you and I always leave feeling like I got an even better version of what I asked for. So my second visit was just as awesome as my first. I was going back to have my hair lightened again by Tiffany...it's no fluke with her...she is amazing. First of all I was welcomed back as if I had been a patron for years. Then we got to work and Tiffany worked with the same precision and diligence as she did on my first visit. When I inquired if someone could wax my eyebrows Tiffany graciously offered to do it while I was being rinsed; despite the fact I knew she was busy. Meg one of the assistants at the salon was kind enough to blow out my hair while Tiffany attended to her next client, all to return to me by the end of my styling to check her work and make sure I was happy...which of course I was. This salon is a gem in Suwanee and I highly recommend it. You won't regret it. They have a customer for life in me. This is my new go to salon. First off the owner Rebecca is so wonderful and accommodating. She fit me in last minute with an amazing AMAZING stylist Tiffany who spent over 3 hours giving me the EXACT look I wanted. She took my hair from extremely dark brown to a gorgeous golden blonde. She hand painted every strand and when it as time to cut and style my hair she did it with the same precision and grace as with the coloring. I was so nervous about this extreme change but everyone at the salon was so welcoming and reassuring. Outstanding atmosphere and a delightful team. The compliments over my hair haven't stopped coming since I Tiffany masterfully gave it to me. And I recommend her to everyone. I feel like a new person and so much more confident. Wish I didn't have to admit it, but this is the worst haircut I've gotten in years. I brought a few inspiration pics--wanted to go from a chin length bob to more of a stacked back. The stylist talked like she could do a great job, but about 10 min in, I realized I had made a mistake coming here. I felt like she had never cut Asian hair. Also, I think she accidentally cut too much from the front sides, because one minute she said she was going to leave the length in the front, and the next minute, she lopped it all off. Reviewing a salon can be tricky because most of the review is regarding the stylist that does your hair. Christine (her booking name is Camille) cut, styled, and put a streak of color in my daughter's hair. She did a wonderful job! Genesis Salon was very nice. The interior was very clean and trendy. I have had my hair done here at least 15 times. My go to stylist, Dana, got a promotion and is now at their other salon. Good for her, bad for me. I called to make an appointment, and I was told that the only available appointment was with Marie, who was a level one. I accepted, thinking she couldn't be awful if she worked at a salon. WRONG! I explained what and how I wanted my cut. She confirmed while demonstrating with my hair, the length I wanted and what she was taking off. She ended up taking off 3-4 inches MORE than I wanted and when she made the first snip, she said, "Oops, I guess I should have taken off less and saw where it lied before cutting so much." YA THINK???? Needless to say, I left the salon with my hood on, in tears, crying to the manager that I looked like an asshole. I haven't been back since and never will go there again. They gave me the haircut for free, but the damage done was way more than a free haircut would make up for.... Avoid, unless you have your set stylist that you love, don't jump around, you'll pay the price! read more

I've visited this salon twice now. 4 stars for the first experience and 1 star for the second. The first time I had my cut and color done by Camille and I absolutely loved my hair! She colored it how I wanted and my blow out was beautiful! I left the salon feeling like a million bucks. I decided to go back here again but Camille was out on leave so the receptionist recommended Caitlin to me. She mentioned that Caitlin was a higher level so each service would cost $5 more. It ended up being a lot more than just $5 more per service. Caitlin did give me the total amount of my services before I agreed to it. It was the most that I've ever paid to get my hair done. I don't mind paying a substantial amount to have my hair done but if I'm paying that much, I do expect it to be done well! Caitlin is super nice and personable but my hair did not turn out well. The blow out was meh, my cut was super blunt and uneven, my color was splotchy, my bangs did not turn out how I asked, and I still had lots of gray hairs. My hair was curled so I didn't notice this until the next day. I called and since they were closed, Rebecca(the manager) returned my call the next day. She was super nice also and asked me to come back in so that they could fix the issues. I came in a few days later and there were a few girls at the front desk when I checked in. One of the girls gave me a dirty look when I checked in and I overheard her talking about me. It was very unprofessional. Caitlin greeted me shortly after. I explained to her the issues I had and she went to work. Rebecca came over and fixed my bangs for me since Caitlin wasn't able to cut them the way that I asked for. A couple of hours later, the splotchiness is a bit better but I still have a lot of gray hairs and my cut is still uneven. I called the salon a few minutes after I left but Rebecca had apparently already left. I was told that she would be in the next day but my call was not returned until 4 days after I visited the salon the second time in a week's period. I'm a working mom with two little ones, so it's hard for me to find time to go to the salon. I really wish that my issues would've been fully resolved when I came in that second time! read more

The color did not turn out exactly how I wanted in the picture. My hair didn't have that wow factor that I wanted. I've been to this salon twice - once for a haircut and once for balayage hair color. The only reason I'm rating this salon 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the friendly personnel. I should have seen the red flags after my unsatisfactory haircut when the stylist gave me short, choppy layers (I explicitly stated I wanted long, barely-visible layers.) She explained that since I had an upcoming coloring appointment, she had to "fix" my layers so they'd compliment the color placement. After my balayage appointment, however, is the worst I've ever felt leaving a salon. Balayage is supposed to create a gradual, blended, natural-looking effect. Instead, I was given chunky highlights throughout with a bright skunk stripe in the very front of my head. My appointments were with a master-level stylist, so I was shocked and disappointed to say the least. I'm so embarrassed by how my hair looks, but I've been told to wait 8 weeks before getting a color correction so my hair doesn't get totally damaged. Needless to say I will not be returning and I would not recommend. read more

I was in desperate need of a haircut, and a quick Yelp search led me to Genesis Suwanee. I called and asked if they had anything available that day, and lucky for me, they did! The girl on the phone was very sweet and helpful. She told me my hairdresser would be Camille, and I was pretty excited because I had seen others raving about her in some of the reviews I read. I know that many other reviewers have already said how awesome Camille is, but it's worth saying again! She truly does a great job! She asked a lot of questions about what I wanted, and I felt like she really took time out to make sure she did a good job. My layers look amazing, my bangs were exactly like I wanted them, and the length was perfect, too. She even taught me the best way to blow dry side-swept bangs! Prices depend on the "level" of the hairdresser, which range from 1 to 5. I was told that the levels represent the experience and training they've had. The prices for a haircut range from $23 (level 1) to $41 (level 5). My haircut was $33 because Camille is a level 3, but if I didn't know beforehand, I would have thought she was a level 5! read more

As far as salon's go, Genesis is top notch. What really makes my experience is the quality of my hair cut and color. Camille is my stylist and I could honestly say that I have never had such a positive response from my colleagues, friends, and family after getting my hair styled. Each time I visit Camille (Christine Holmes), I leave with a big smile! Camille makes the entire experience very comfortable. She is very creative and has a great personality and I enjoy conversing with her throughout my visit. I get my hair cut, colored, and styled and have had a great experience each time! My favorite part though is when I get to work and the women I work with compliment my hair and want to know where I go to get it done. My favorite stylist was moved up to salon 124 so I had stopped going for about a year. However it was time to get my haircut and I had an event to go to, so I visited the salon again this weekend, and once again I was not disappointed I had originally scheduled an appointment with Camille, but received a call the day of my appointment that she would not be available, but that Rebecca, the store manager, would be available to do my hair if that was OK and that I would pay the same price I was to pay with Camille, who is a level 3. I asked for my hair to be cut in a specific style, I had a picture, and also to be styled for my event I had later in the evening. Rebecca was super helpful and very communicative during the session. We talked about what length I was comfortable with based on the form I wanted. She was super friendly and I felt very welcome and encouraged to come back. She styled my hair and shellacked it in a way that looked perfectly natural but that lasted me all night, which is saying something in Georgia humidity, and I even woke up this morning with the curl still in my hair. Love, love, love! They got me in for a same day Friday appt for cut and highlights!!! I explained what I wanted to achieve and Rachel did an amazing job!! I am like every other girl and have a hard time trusting people with my hair but she is really really good at what she does. She is also very fast but you don't feel rushed. I can appreciate a fast highlighting job lol. She did a simple trim and I was on my way. The prices really aren't that bad either compared to some other salons. I have seen Marie at Genesis twice. The first time I wanted someone to help me select a new cut. She spent at least 20 min with me upfront talking about my hair (long, fine, straight), my lifestyle, etc. She and I poured over looks on her iPad. She gave me a completely new cut that was stylish and super easy to do. I got tons of compliments on it and a few of them called Marie for an appt! I waited almost 3 months to go back, she was our on maternity leave. My cut still looked good. This time I wanted to color my hair and we spent a lot of time up front going over ideas, options, and cost. I got another great cut and a beautiful natural looking new color that instantly made me feel better. The nice part is how reasonably priced Genesis has been, as I don't make much money. Okay, So I went and called this Salon a week before making an appointment and then two days before, as well to check for pricing. I asked for ombre and cut and they told me BOTH TIMES I called that it would be 100$. Obviously I felt it was an awesome deal so I booked the time. When I got there they changed the price to 130$ and I just said okay.. Then while they had started my hair, they came and told me the price would be 150$, so much more than I expected. And 150$ WITHOUT the cut.. Enraged as I was, I continued because at this point I couldn't get up and leave.. Then the final results wasn't even what I wanted. I showed her an image and I said I wanted that exact color, and it was so much more blonde. And I'm a dark dark brunette and it was almost platinum blonde. And it was like highlights. Not even ombre.. I was enraged. Okay, this is my story about Genesis, but recently one of the managers called me and apologized for the mishap. She offered a free haircut the next time I go in and was just very offering and kind. I am still upset about the whole thing, but I now see they didn't take this lightly and they wanted to at least partially fix what happened. Great customer service and just very understanding. I first met with Kayla and she instantly put all my fears aside-she explained what we were going to do and was honest with me. They say that when you move, finding a new hair stylist is one of the toughest things you have to find-I'm glad that search is over!!! She took such good care of me and I left with exactly what I wanted. Only thing to keep in mind with this salon (which may be common out here so it didn't particularly bother me) is that they charge for additional services or "add ons". $20 for toner, $17 for additional color if they run out because client has too much hair, etc. This wasn't a concern for me because their prices are more fair than most out here. I did some extensive research before coming here. It seems like most know what they are doing there, but I'd definitely recommend @hair_bykae for balayage! It's a very long story, but ultimately, I didn't think my balayage was worth the $123 I paid for. It was something I could've achieved on my own, as I have done in the past. Don't get me wrong though. Emery (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly), my stylist, was awesome and very nice so this isn't her fault. I'm writing a review to talk about the difficulties I went through with the process of getting a refund. Basically, I called two days after my appointment asking to see if I could change my hair to the way it was before and get a refund (or at least a discount) for my hair. The only reason why I was expecting this in the first place is because before I booked an appointment, I called to make sure that I would receive a full refund if my hair doesn't turn out the way I wanted; they ensured that this was unlikely to happen as their stylists are certified, but if it were to happen, I would be guaranteed a refund. When I called, I was told Rebecca would call me back to talk to me about my refund and at the time, they went ahead and told me that I could come in that same day for an appointment at 3. I had to prepare ride situations for a 50 minute commute, as I go to University in a different city, but when I called Rebecca (because they never called me back), I was told that there was no appointment for 3 o'clock available for me. That was a big mistake on their part because I had already made arrangements for a ride to come pick me up to go to Genesis. I had to go home anyways and made an appointment to go in the next morning instead of that same day. When I went in for the appointment, the first thing Rebecca did for me was give me $40 worth of products for the trouble I went through while apologizing for everything, which I really appreciated. I obviously thought that I would also get refunded for my hair because that's the only reason why I went back in the first place, and she even made it seem like I was going to when I talked with her on the phone. However, she said they couldn't do that because it was due to my "change of heart," which was a miscommunication. Anyways, her solution was that they would fix my hair back to the way it was, and give me the $40 worth of products. That didn't solve my problem though. Just because they fix my hair and give me products, doesn't mean that the balayage I got suddenly becomes worth the value I paid for. I politely argued with her back and forth for a while, and she ended up having to call a higher manager to see if they could do anything. In the end, I received my refund, but it took well over an hour at the salon and me having to take time away from University just so I could do this. I wouldn't have even written this bad review because I was pleasant with her the whole time, but at the very end, she said that she was going to have to take back the product because I got my refund, which irked me. For me, the product itself didn't matter. It just showed that them giving it to me was a sign of apologizing. However, when she said they had to take it back, it showed that they didn't feel bad for all the time and gas I wasted. I explained this to her, but she wouldn't budge which I thought was petty. Ultimately, I did love my stylist and the receptionists who worked there, but this entire process was way too draining, and I won't be going back. read more
