I've been coming to Revival Salon for over a decade, and I truly can't imagine going anywhere else. The few times I tried other places, I always ended up back at Revival to have them fix my hair. I'm definitely high-maintenance when it comes to my hair, and Rebecca and Cody always exceed my expectations. They're incredibly talented, professional, and genuinely care about getting everything just right. Now my teenage daughter comes here too, and Amber has been amazing with her. We even had a last minute hair emergency right before prom, and they went above and beyond to squeeze us in and fix her hair. I can't recommend Revival Salon enough! read more

Even though the clientele were predominantly white - which is often a concern for WOC who have darker hair, because our hair can be difficult both to cut and color - Melissa was able to put my fears to rest! 2012 is just around the corner and I usually start off the new year with a new 'do. I've been going to Toni and Guy for years but my hair stylist recently moved to a salon in Buckhead so I decided to look for another salon that's closer to home. I went to Yelp for help and came upon this place. The reviews are good so I decided to give the place a try. The salon is super cute and located right up the street from Suwanee Town Center. I originally called to schedule just a cut but a few days later I found a deal on amazon local. $49 for $100 worth of hair services. Since my cut was going to be $50 anyways, I decided to purchase the deal so I could get my color done too. I arrived at 12:45 for my 1o'clock appt. but I wasn't taken back until 1:10 since they were a little behind. It wasn't a big deal though. Joy, the lady at the front desk was apologetic and offered me a complimentary soda. Maggie did my color and shampoo and both were just ok. One of the biggest things that I absolutely love about Toni and Guy is the shampoo process. They always throw in a head/neck massage during your shampoo at T&G. Revival lacked in that department. My shampoo was just a regular shampoo. Nothing special. The color was also just ok. I could've done my own color at home with the same results for just a fraction of the price. So why the 4 stars? Well it's because my cut was absolutely gorgeous! Diana did my cut and she did an awesome job! She listened carefully to what I wanted and spent her time perfecting my 'do. My haircut took 1 hr and 45 minutes but it was worth every minute! Every time I decide to get a new hair style, it usually takes me a few days to get used to my hair and actually like it. This was the first time that I've ever immediately liked my hair after it was cut! After talking to Diana, I find out that she actually used to work at T&G. After consulting with three different salons in the area, I chose Revival to do the hair and makeup for my wedding, and they FAR exceeded my expectations. To start with, Joy, the receptionist, was incredibly professional and organized. We even finished early, which I hear almost never happens on your wedding day! Bridget did an amazing job with our makeup. I had a very negative experience with Cody. It was my first time coming to this salon and it had good ratings. The way he spoke about my hair was borderline shaming and disparaging. I've been dealing with medical issues that affect my hair density and the way he referred to my hair throughout the cut felt dehumanizing, like there wasn't a person sitting in his chair so it didn't matter how he said it. I understand being direct or realistic, but you can still be kind with how you say it. You have no idea what the person sitting in your chair is going through. I was trying to do something nice for myself and relax, and it was the complete opposite experience. On top of that, he would go on these long tangents, not even looking me in the eyes but at himself in the mirror, stop cutting my hair in the process, and I would just sit there waiting for it to end. He actually had the nerve to blame my appointment going long on my hair being fine and difficult to cut, instead of the fact that he would just go off about some random subject and completely stop cutting my hair. I watched him do it to the woman before me, which was why he was late for my appointment. The only plus was that he did a good job (although he ignored the length I asked for so it's about an inch shorter than I wanted) and gave me some helpful tips, even though they felt like backhanded comments about my hair being fine. He stood next to the receptionist when I was checking out and it made me uncomfortable because I wanted to leave less than 20%, but I was so exhausted by the end of the experience I just handed him a 20 dollar bill for a 75 dollar hair cut and left. I have never left a hair appointment crying before because of how a stylist spoke to me. I have no idea how the other stylists are, but I won't give money to his salon again. read more

Revival Salon is by far the best salon I have ever been to. I live in Atlanta and drive 30 miles each way just to get my hair done. They are very accommodating and the stylists are the best I have ever experienced. The prices are very reasonable for a high end salon (They are also an aveda salon). Cody (the owner) is an expert hair stylist with training at Vidal Sasson in Cali and makes me feel like a million dollars every time I am there. Thank you Yelp for steering me to Revival Salon! I just moved out to the Lawrenceville-Suwanee area last August, and while it's nice out here, it can feel like all the good places are far, far away. I never would have guessed such a nice salon would be just 8 minutes from my house. My stylist was Kyle, and he had a bit of mess to deal with in cutting my hair. It gets super dry in the winter and it hasn't been trimmed in a while. I've just been wearing it in a bun to hide the massive dark roots and split ends. Since I was sick of having it long and wanted a change, I asked for (and got) some cute layers that would still be just long enough for a ponytail when I get sick of having my hair down. I also wanted highlights, but Kyle had concerns about going with blonde highlights due to some of the previous color I'd had on my hair. He suggested foiling my hair (which is dark) and doing a lighter brown highlight instead. I was really happy with the end result. Although I ended up going with something different from what I'd originally had in mind, I didn't feel pushed to do something I didn't want. To be honest, I think I like it better than I would've liked what I asked for at first. The atmosphere and music in the salon were really nice. All the people there were friendly and the 3.5 hours I was there flew by. Prices were VERY reasonable. My full head of foils was $100 and my cut was $45. For the quality of the work, I was happy to pay this price. Will definitely be back. Revival is awesome! read more

This is my boyfriend's hair salon. When he was living in Suwanee until just about a month ago, it was right around the corner from his house, and since his hair grows faster than most requiring a trim about every 2-3 weeks, convenience is key. He also worked out a deal with his stylist (who's also the owner), Cody, to pay about half the price of a regular cut since he's there twice a month. Revival is located a stone's throw from Suwanee Town Center and occupies a cute little house adjacent to some train tracks and next to some other retail shops. Inside is decorated ornately with plush couches in the waiting area, gold, carved dressers and mirrors for each hair cut station, heavy curtains and dark wood floors. My boyfriend's been going to Cody religiously for at least three years now and really enjoys having him cut his hair because they talk about Cody's death metal band, Collapse of the Apocalypse, their latest gigs, his house by the lake, motorcycles, etc. His mom also works in the salon as the manager and is the friendliest lady you'll ever meet. She's super sweet. And the couple of times I've gone with him, there's always an open chair next to my boyfriend's that I'm invited to occupy while he's getting trimmed. That's a nice touch. He's very happy with the results, and I am too, so in my book, that's a win. This salon is very hidden. If I did not purchase a groupon, I would have never found it. Inside the salon is just gorgeous though. Probably, the prettiest salon I have been to. They also offer you a complimentary drink. The shampoo process was quick and nothing special. Just a regular shampoo, but I do like that they use Aveda hair products. My cut did not take long but the blow drying process did. I think this is where most of the time went.. My stylist was Lexie. She did a great job except when I got home It was uneven. For a top end salon, you would not think that would be a problem. However, I enjoyed my experience here. If it wasn't for the cut being uneven, I would give it four stars. read more

Hadn't had a haircut in over two months and I'm about to start a new job. New to the area, so I checked out Yelp to see what my options were. There were a couple places nearer by with more reviews, but upon further inspection they seemed pretty hit or miss (either 1 star or 5, not much in between). Revival had a decent number of very solid reviews, so I decided to give them a shot. I called and made an appointment, simple and straightforward. They even called the day prior to confirm which was a nice touch. The place was easy to find, plenty of parking. The style of the place was pretty...interesting. Not bad or anything, just really...interesting. Ok, honestly it seemed pretty over the top and I was concerned I'd outdone myself by picking this place. However, everyone was really nice and put me at ease really quickly. I arrived about 5 minutes early and checked in. I was given a choice between a couple different (complimentary) soft drinks. That was great actually because I run my mouth a lot (I love to talk to my stylist while having my hair cut) so having something to drink was awesome. I had not specified a stylist when making my appointment so I was matched up with Jason. Jason was great, easy to talk to, worked with what little input I gave him and took the initiative offering different suggestions on what we could try. He was very detailed with the cut, I got the impression he wasn't going to stop till he was satisfied with it. He used a flat iron which I'd honestly never considered trying before. I like the effect and may wind up investing in one myself. I'll definitely be going back to Revival for my next cut. read more

My experience here was terrible. I had a balayage done and I could see there that the color was off at the salon, but thought maybe it was the lighting, due to it being dark in the salon. I paid and went home. I got home and my hair was three different colors. A brownish reddish at the bottom blonde on top and black. I wanted a simple blonde balayage. I called Joy who is the front lady and explained to her I was not happy with how my hair turned out. She said they could fix it and to come back. I drive another 30 minutes back to revival and my hair stylist proceeded to "fix" my hair. After her "fixing" my hair again looked the same just lighter. They were closing it was 6 I was there at 9 that morning. Due to lighting in the salon it looked semi fixed. I left went home looked in the mirror and was devastated my hair was completely botched color was terrible. I called back that same night and spoke with Joy. I said I was not happy with the result again it was worse. She said to come back but at that point I lost all trust in the salon. I proceeded to find another salon that completely fixed my hair but they had to start from scratch... and even more money. I was very happy with the turn out. Today I called back revival salon, I wanted to possibly see if there could be a possible refund for what I went through over this past weekend. The front lady joy was very rude to me saying I said I liked it at the salon there for it being my fault. They weren't going to give me a refund that I should have said something, when I did say something I called them back three times.... very rude very unprofessional. Didn't even offer a store credit. My fiancé (now husband) had an appointment with Maureen for highlights and a cut for our WEDDING. He was told to come at 11:45 am so that he could have time for a consultation and the services which was a 2 hour appt (outside of the consultation). We got there @ 11:45 am and waited till 12:25-12:30 pm (so a whole 40+ min's) before Maureen was ready for his appointment. I was not there when she was working on his hair, but he told me later that his hair cut was only 8-10 min's long, and that she was rushing to get to her next client. When I saw his hair later that day I was beyond shocked. His hair in the back looked like it was cut by a 2-year-old, and in addition, there was a "blotch" of bleach on the right side at the back of the head (it looked like bleach just "fell" on his head there mistakenly--he had asked for a few subtle highlights). We had to go to another salon to try to fix the problem, and the stylist had to take quite a bit hair off to fix the haircut and issues, as it wasn't done properly as the hair was not flowing right. This is what my husband had asked for during the haircut, as he wanted it styled very well. He wanted his hair longer, but he was clear that any hair that needed to be taken off to have the hair look very styled and shaped very well was very important, which is what he had experienced with other stylists in the past. After sharing pictures and providing comments on what he did and did not want, the actual hair cut itself was fairly short (8-10 min's) out of his 45 minute appt time (even though the appt was scheduled for 2 hours). So most of the time was spent on hair coloring and consultation, and not on the haircut itself. After leaving and coming back and being told he could not be seen the same day, because of our time table and concerns for the hair not being made right when we came back the next day, he did decide to find another salon, and the person who cut his hair spent almost 45 min's - 1 hour fixing and cutting the hair. She said even if she had not needed to fix the hair, that his hair should have been cut for at least 30 min's, which is a far cry from the 8-10 min's that he got from Maureen. She had commented during the hair cutting that it looked like an 8-10 min haircut, and also stated that even if someone says that they do not want their hair cut short, that that does not mean that a lot of time still needs to be put into styling the hair. This may include using a razor or point cutting, thinning hair, grabbing lose hair around the head, careful thought in shaping the hair on the head, and other techniques that are used in styling hair. This being said, we are not sure what technique she used to fix his hair, but she was successfully able to cut the hair. However, it was MUCH shorter than what my husband wanted for his wedding due to the higher pieces that were cut by Maureen on the back and the sides (gaps in the hair), which left my husband feeling very depressed and sad, as he hates his hair short and with all the time, effort, and money we were putting into the wedding, it is beyond belief that he had to be dealing with something like this. Truly, she may have done well on other styling, however, certainly a stylist cannot afford to not be at their best at all times, most especially with a new client and if it's his/her first time, and even more so, if it's his/her first time AND are getting ready for a MAJOR EVENT such as a WEDDING. My husband and I had emailed the owner of the salon, Cody Smith, the above grievances twice, and it was disappointing to say the least that he did not have the decency to respond. A simple "sorry" would have gone a long way, but really, my husband should have received a full refund as he had paid $115 for the services. Overall, it was a very disappointing and disheartening experience at Salon Revival, and consequently, this salon cannot be recommended. read more

She sat down and listened to me try to explain what I wanted (I'm not very good at explaining this- as you can tell from this review!) She then repeated back what I wanted to make sure she understood! I really love it when hair people do this- I want to make sure on the same page. Because Kody was running a little behind for my cut (really, I wouldn't have noticed!), they offered a complimentary conditioning. Found my new "hair home" I was very happy with my previous salon but my stylist left after having a baby and i was not all that thrilled with the person who took over her clients. I asked friends and two recommended Katie at Revival. I called Tuesday and was able to get in due to a cancellation. I have long blonde hair and like it more on the cool side than the sunny blonde side. It seems so difficult for stylists to get a color right anymore, but Katie did a good job. I went back the next day for a Brazilian blow out and will be back. Just a little tweaking on the color to get the right amount of lightness around my face but I was very happy! read more

I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time. I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't. Firstly, I'll let you know that I am very particular about who does my hair. Once I find someone good, I am very loyal to them. Unfortunately, I just moved back to the Atlanta area and I don't know of any good stylists. Therefore, I am forced to depend on other people's recommendations and reviews, namely Yelp. Revival Salon had pretty good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give them a try. I'm really not the type to make appointments months in advance. I'm kind of impatient when it comes to my hair. When it gets to a point that I can't stand it any longer, I must make an appointment that day. Luckily for me, Revival Salon, accepts walk-ins. I scheduled an appointment that day for my daughter and I. I must concur with the other Yelpers, Joy, the receptionist, was awesome! She is definitely their biggest asset. I told her that I wanted to consult with the stylist ahead of time to ensure that she would be able to achieve the results I wanted. My hair was initially a brassy blonde and I really needed a cut to get rid of the dead ends. I explained to the stylist that I wanted my hair to be ash blonde and that I wanted my hair cut into a long bob. I showed her several pictures of exactly how I wanted it. She said that she could do it and I trusted her. She foiled my hair and then washed it. As soon as she removed the towel, I immediately noticed that it looked kind of orange. She passed me off to another girl to cut it. I told her that I wanted a long bob - NO LAYERS! I explained that layers don't work well with my thin hair; my hair always ends up looking like it is broken off and damaged. I also allowed her to cut off several inches of my hair (which was a really big deal for me) because I wanted my hair to look healthy. Unfortunately, she didn't listen to anything I said and I ended up with layers in the front that looked broken off and more damaged that before I had come into the salon. She asked how I liked it and I told her that I wasn't satisfied with the cut or the color. She allowed me to speak with the girl who colored my hair and I explained that I wasn't happy because my hair was now brassier than before and definitely not ash blonde. She told me that if I still wasn't satisfied in a couple days, that I could come back and that she would try to fix it. Perhaps I should have taken her up on the offer, but I was too scared that they might damage my hair even more. Now, as to my daughter. This was only her second hair cut in life and she was really looking forward to this Mommy-Daughter salon experience. She enjoyed it and seemed satisfied, but I do want to note that while the stylist was cutting my daughter's hair (the same one who cut mine), one of the other stylists made a recommendation to her and she totally disregarded it and did what she wanted to do (just like she did when I told her not to cut layers in my hair) Additionally, I told her to leave my daughter's hair all one length and and just trim the ends. She angled the sides AND cut layers! I paid a pretty decent amount of money to go here and I had higher expectations. I probably would have been more satisfied had I gone to Super Cuts. Now, all that said, maybe I just happened to have been been stuck with the only two people employed at the salon that had no respect for my wishes and totally disregarded what I requested. The guy giving the recommendation to the stylist who cut our hair appeared to seem competent in his abilities and did a good job on his client's hair. I doubt I'll be back. I went to this salon yesterday after reading the other good reviews. This place is amazing. I have very thick, wavy hair that most stylists really can't handle and I have many horror stories about the so-called professionals who tried to. Lathem did the color on my hair and it is the best I've ever had in 15 years of coloring my hair. Kyle did the cut and style and he is equally amazing. I have had my hair done in salons in NYC, London, and Atlanta and this is even better. You just know when your getting your hair done by people that have talent and know what they are doing. Both stylists were very professional and by looking around the salon at what the other stylists were doing, I don't think you could go wrong with anyone in there. Since the salon is so cool & trendy looking, I thought that I may have to deal with attitude but that is so not the case. Kyle took his time on my hair and worked well after closing time. Since he did that and such an amazing job, I promised I would send business his way. Stop messing around with other places and just go here. read more

I just moved here in august of 2008, and have been waiting to get my hair cut because I have heard horror stories, I also didn't want to drive all the way to Atlanta on a weekend, so I came on here, read the reviews for Revival that were already posted, and took a chance. I made my appointment with Cody the owner of the salon (i've had some not so great haircuts so i didn't want to take chances), the salon is really cool inside, the secretary at the front was really nice and friendly and talkative which I liked a lot, and Cody was awesome. He took his time on my super thick hair, I told him what i wanted, and he agreed and told me what he was going to do. I walked out with a beautiful hair cut and couldn't be happier. I will be going back from now on and so will my friends :) read more

Today was my second cut with owner Cody Smith and I couldn't be happier with how my hair turned out! Cody took the time to educate me on what he was doing and how to properly style my long "fragile" hair. You'd think at 47 I would know how to blow dry my hair... but I learned 3 new tricks today! The fact that I don't have to drive to Buckhead to get an amazing cut makes me want to tell everyone! read more
