Loved this place! It's just off the main road so it's not too busy. There are several tables you can sit at for dine-in. The roti is delicious and the portions are pretty big. We also ordered the oxtail which was absolutely delicious but also very spicy for my untrained palette. I would approach with caution if you're not good with spice. The owners are also very friendly! We will definitely be back. read more

Sally's Roti Shop - Oxtail and Beef Curry Roti - Caribbean Near Me - Kingston, Ontario

Very disappointed with my experience at Sally. I went in to buy two doubles, and unfortunately the lady working there made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt that I was being treated differently and, honestly, I couldn't help but wonder whether I was being profiled because of my skin colour or because I was struggling with English. After ordering, I was about to briefly place my earphones on the table so I could reach into my pocket for my purse. Before I had even really put them down, she told me, "Don't keep your stuff on the table." It was the tone that bothered me most. I had just seen her interact with another customer, and the way she spoke to me felt noticeably different. This is actually the second time I have experienced this kind of treatment there, which makes the situation even more disappointing. I have no issue with being reminded of store rules, but there is a respectful way to speak to customers. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this location, unless the gentleman is working there by himself. Very disappointing and upsetting experience. read more

Quick fast and delicious Trini food. Had doubles and chicken roti. Both were tasty and prepared fresh. Friendly owner. read more

This spot is truly a hidden gem in Kingston and deserves so much more recognition! As someone who moved from Toronto to Kingston for work over a year ago, I've struggled to find authentic, flavorful Caribbean food--but this place has been a game-changer. Their doubles are packed with flavor, and it's the only spot in town where I've been able to find oxtail. The owners are incredibly friendly and always greet you with a warm smile. It's easily one of my favorite places in Kingston! read more

Just dropped in for takeout but it's a charming, clean friendly place so I ate in. I ordered the lamb curry with rice and peas. Delicious! Tender lamb, lots of it, with potatoes. Some spice but not too much. Love this place. I'll be back. read more

This is the best place to get true, authentic, Trinidadian food. Eating at Sally's feels like pulling up a chair in my own family's kitchen, and it's as close to being in Trinidad as one can get. The homely restaurant is run by some of the most humble and kind owners who are just happy to be able to serve food that they grew up with and share that experience with their customers. I recommend getting the curry chicken and the curry lamb, but I'm sure the other menu items are great as well. There is place to sit and enjoy the food fresh & hot, which I would also recommend! read more

Sally's Roti Shop - Curry Chicken Roti - Caribbean Near Me - Kingston, Ontario

This is the only Caribbean restaurant for maybe 160km. Guyanese oriented with roti and doubles. My personal preference is curried goat roti. The only minor - chunks of meat need to be cut smaller. Other than that curry is great as are the other fillings. It tides me over until I can get to Toronto and the many West Indian restaurants there read more

Grabbed some takeout on a weekday (during Covid times), not too busy. You're able to order and just wait a short bit while they prep everything. Ordered a Double (spicy), Curry Goat Roti and Curry Chicken Roti. The portion sizes are pretty big. The bag had some real weight to it. The Double was pretty good, not that spicy though. Good texture. The curries were alright, some good flavours but a little bland for me. There were some big chunks of goat meat, but there were also just some big chunks of potato. I also found it a little dry. The roti was also only ok, a bit of good chew, but I was hoping for something a bit flakier. The little jar of coleslaw(?) they give is good, adds some nice crunch and a little spice to the bite. Overall great value, OK taste. read more

This place is epic and our new found must stop when visiting my fam in Kingston. We found this little gem all thanks to Yelp (thanks Yelp!) and really enjoyed our meal. The friendly gentleman behind the cash seemed to be the owner while his wife (?) held down the kitchen. The space itself was also spotlessly clean, which is always a great sign. As others have noted, it's a fairly causal relaxed atmosphere. We each ordered a roti and bae also chose a double along with a lemon and lime bitters drink. The food was delicious and really hit the spot. Just the right amount of heat plus the roti skin was super tender. Be sure to stop in for a visit if you're into satisfying, soul warming, home cooked food! read more

This is a great restaurant for authentic food. We ordered the oxtail special and the curry lamb wrap. The oxtail was fantastic - the meat was flavourful and fell off the bone. The sauce was so rich and delicious, we only wish there was more of it, given how mediocre the rice and coleslaw were. The curry lamb wrap was so tasty. The potatoes were melt in your mouth, the lamb was nicely spiced, and the roti itself was delectable. We really, really wish there was more sauce on the lamb, because it got a little dry with a few bites. Overall, we're super glad we came to try Sally's. Next time we return, we'll be sure to ask for extra sauce! read more

Service was friendly, the space was clean and well kept. The food was good, I had the chicken roti and it was well seasoned and the roti was fresh. I also had the chickpea doubles, which were OK, I've had really good doubles in my lifetime. Turn around time was fast and the portions were filling. read more

Terrible front service. I was treated like crap. No menues to offer. Negitive attitude. I just walked in and asked a woman busy talking in the kitchen. I asked to see if she had a menu for take out. "Why would we have that ?". I just left. read more

Really wonderful roti's. The best around, for sure! Quick service as well. I'm hungry just writing this!!!!

Solid place, great food. Orders are timely and the roti is always fresh! I recommend the chickpea roti with hot sauce! Update: also the eggplant and spinach roti is very tasty too :-) and if you want a snack get a double with hot sauce!! read more

Great, friendly place...Food is authentic, fresh and fast. If you get there when it isn't too busy, the owner will even chat with you...And the rotis are made there, not brought in, a rarity these days. Well worth a trip downtown... read more

What a great addition to the restaurant options in downtown Kingston! I tried this restaurant for the first time on the weekend and I will definitely be back. For a first visit we wanted to try an assortment of things on the menu, so we went with the family meal that offered our choice of two meats (we went for the curried chicken and curried goat), one veg (spinach), beans and rice, and four rotis. The price for the family meal was actually less than if we had ordered four individual wraps. The food was delicious!! Both curried meats were very tender and flavourful. I also really enjoyed the rice and beans with a mild spice flavor. The rotis were thin and light and tender. Putting our own wraps together was fun and the meal came with a lot of food, so there was lots left over. I really enjoyed the food and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Big thumbs up! read more

Rude service from the woman at cash and was asked to leave even though we were sharing food. There was four of us and three paying customers. Unacceptable, will not be coming here again, do not come here. read more

So. Friggen. Good. The runny curry is delicious and has a light kick to it, with beautifully seasoned potatoes. The roti is wrapped in the most delicious layer of heaven I've ever eaten. The only thing I would change is the chicken chunks. Would be much better distributed if it were torn into slivers instead of large chunks. read more

This place is AMAZING!!!! I ordered the curry goat roti and it is soooo good! The price is reasonable and the portion is huge!! The meat is tender and every cubes is huge!! The roti is also at my taste!! And they have an abundant options on their menu. Love this place! Recommend to go! read more

Totally underrated in Kingston, prbly because of the distance and hidden location. The owners are incredibly helpful and sweet! Really tastes like authentic Caribbean food. I've had the lamb roti a few times and the chicken once, will try the goat next time as I've heard it's good too :) It's filling, tastes great and decently priced! Would have to try more of the menu to give it 5 stars :3 read more

Daaaaaaaaamn. Best roti I've had in awhile. Authentic for sure. Service was quick and portion size was more than adequate. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

While I'm glad Kingston has a Jamaican eatery I was hoping for better. Food was bland, the LAST thing you'd expect. Portions were small too. This is nothing like the experience I'd get in Mississauga or Toronto. Too bad. Dry, flavourless curries. Get grandma back and cook long and slow like everyone else!!! read more

This was one of the most delicious meals of my life! It is like they are in my head. Perfectly spiced! Perfectly proportioned! I had the chicken plate today. It came fast, and each bite was better then the last. Thanks guys, I will be back! read more

I hadn't heard of Sally's Roti Shop until a full year after I moved to Kingston, and that's an honest shame. The food here is great, service is extremely quick, the portions are generous, and the staff are personable and friendly. As far as I know, all of the veggie dishes are also vegan, so it's a hidden gem for any fellow vegans. Would highly recommend a visit if you're looking for a quick, delicious bite (I consider this more of a lunch spot rather than a dinner spot since there isn't much of an ambiance) in a non-intimidating atmosphere! read more

We stopped here on our drive to Ottawa. We ordered a curry chicken roti, curry goat roti and two curry chicken plates. Rotis were stuffed with meat and flavour was on point. The hot sauce was very flavourful as well. This is a place that lives up to the reviews given. Well worth a try if you are in the area. read more

The reviews were right. A real authentic gem. The food was delicious and the service was warm and friendly - a nice family run spot. Really, one of the best roti places. Highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Delicious! Large serving with just the right amount of spice. I'll definitely came back and make this s regular part of my Kingston A list.

Highly recommend! Extremely friendly service, and very flavourful food. Affordable and worth every penny. I visit here weekly and always get the "doubles" spicy. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but I'm into very spicy food. They do offer a mild version. Super cheap and filling! I've tried other menu items and nothing has disappointed me. Next visit I'm going to try the Jerk Chicken. The meat dishes are super tender and melt in your mouth. Definitely worth a try, so give it a go. You'll thank me later! read more

Love getting the family pack. Curried goat!!!! Chicken can be a tad dry. The rotis are to die for.

I lived in the Caribbean for 3 years and let me tell you, this place is legit. I never thought I would see Trinidadian doubles again in my life, and here they are, magically popping up somewhere so desolate as Kingston, Ontario. At $1.50 a pop, it's a steal. The rotis are so nice and the roti bread itself is perfect. Ingredients are better quality than what I had in the Caribbean. Thank you for existing, Sally. You made a chiney gyal happy. :) read more

Just tried this place today, I've had roti before and am a huge fan of this place. Got the chicken roti, the meat:potato ratio was pretty awesome at about 1:1 and the wrap and sauce was super flavourful. The chicken/potato was also awesomely tender and tasty. The prices are also awesome so will be coming here a ton in the future. read more

Reasonably priced and delicious! Very helpful in deciding what to eat. Chutney is nice and spicy.

great food and great prices. I always judge Caribbean places on how well there goat is done;it is wonderful here. Very fast and friendly service, eat in or take out.! I have brought several current and previous Real Estate clients here and all of them have become regulars. My only complaint would be as more people discover the place and it becomes more popular it becomes difficult to find seating. read more

Cheap and in big portions. Very spicy and hot to little ones. The restaurant was small but clean and cozy. Music was themed to the Caribbean and the waiters were nice and friendly. The curry plates were delicious and a mouthful of spiced flavor. The roti was soft and tender. Truly high quality and delicious. Would go as often as I could and is now one of my top picks of Kingston. On a quiet street and very low noise level! read more
