We booked a table via email, and they sent an email to confirm it. We sat at a booth by the front window. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious! The tzatziki was thicker than I'm used to, and tasty. One person in our party ordered chicken souvlaki and it was quite a large serving; at least half went home for lunch the next day. My salad was filing without being too much food. Added the meat at an upcharge. It was worth it! I look forward to going back

Very disappointed with my experience at Sally…read more I went in to buy two doubles, and unfortunately the lady working there made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt that I was being treated differently and, honestly, I couldn't help but wonder whether I was being profiled because of my skin colour or because I was struggling with English. After ordering, I was about to briefly place my earphones on the table so I could reach into my pocket for my purse. Before I had even really put them down, she told me, "Don't keep your stuff on the table." It was the tone that bothered me most. I had just seen her interact with another customer, and the way she spoke to me felt noticeably different. This is actually the second time I have experienced this kind of treatment there, which makes the situation even more disappointing. I have no issue with being reminded of store rules, but there is a respectful way to speak to customers. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this location, unless the gentleman is working there by himself. Very disappointing and upsetting experience.

This was my birthday breakfast and it was so good! Tommy's…read moreis a cute little 50's diner. I loved the checkerboard floor and the records on the ceiling. The place is a bit dated and could use some fresh updates to the decorating, but it was still charming, comfortable seating, had tv to watch...but was VERY hot inside. My trip to Kingston fell, of course, during that heat dome event...and I already HATE summer and hot weather. The temperature in the restaurant wasn't terrible but I was sweating. Turned out to be worth it. They have a full bar and Laura, my server, made me a pineapple mimosa on request. She looked to be handling the fairly busy place by herself with help from I believe the owner or manager. She handled everything very well and wasn't too busy to tell me Happy Birthday (I had on a shirt and she was one of the few people who did) and chat a bit and be friendly. I appreciated that. She was obviously very hot running inside and out to the patio tables, but she maintained her composure and worked very hard. I ordered the breakfast poutine and they added the pulled pork to it when I asked. I also got a side of the baked beans. The fries were very fresh, crispy and tender. There were scrambled eggs, fresh crumbled bacon, cheese sauce and that glorious pulled pork on top. I really enjoyed this dish. Great idea, breakfast poutine! While eating I got to speak the owner (I believe she was). She was from Arizona so we are both dual citizens. We had a good talk about Dump decimating the US. The owner is a very liberal, accepting, kind person. Makes you feel good to support businesses run by compassionate people. The service was great. Food was phenomenal. Yes, the beans were so tasty too. Kind staff. Cute decor. I am returning to Kingston in October and will definitely be stopping in at Tommy's again. Fantastic diner food!

What I've always loved about Mino's is the friendly staff, the take out service, and gawking at the dessert display when you walk in. I'm happy to say those all feel the same. Service is great; we had a fun banter going with our waiter, and the atmosphere is really nice. Music choices were less Greek, more Caribbean, but hey, I'm not complaining! I will say that I love the greek salad dressing (it's pink!?), and although it's simple, they do a good greek salad. My table all ordered Chicken Soluvaki plates, so I'm unable to comment on any of the other dishes they serve. Although it was tasty, I don't know that I'd order it again. Very salty, and I was surprised to find gravy on the plate - I've never experienced that in a greek restaurant before.

Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

The waitress pointed out one element on the burger I wanted on a GF bun would have gluten and suggested removing it, which I appreciated. Lots of drink options too. Was in town for a business trip and was recommended by a friend that went to Queen's to check out…read moreGreco's for dinner. We came as a group of 6 on a Thursday evening and thank goodness we had a reservation, because oh my it was busy! Greco' seems to primarily be a Greek restaurant that also serves Italian dishes. FOOD (3.5/5) I ordered a Spanakopita as a starter and the Double Souvlaki Platter as my entree. The spanakopita came cut in half and the puff pastry was really flaky (and messy!). The filling was good but could've had more to better balance the amount of pastry. My colleague ordered the Zucchini starter which is a bowl of battered and deep fried zucchini slices served with tzatziki on the side. It came piping hot and borderline burned our tongues, so be careful taking your first bites! The portion of this is huge and should definitely be shared. The Double Souvlaki Platter has 2 portions (skewers sans the skewer) of souvlaki, Greek salad, rice, potatoes, and tzatziki. Super classic dish and I think it delivered in most aspects. The meat was well cooked, salad was nicely dressed, and rice and potatoes were seasoned with a bit of lemon. DRINKS (4/5) To end the meal I ordered an espresso which came with a mini almond cookie. I was pleasantly surprised that the espresso was nicely extracted, good crema from a dark chocolatey bean. SERVICE (4/5) Our server Norm was very friendly and joked around with us a lot. One of my colleagues had to order and leave early, and they brought their food out very timely. There however were some minor inconveniences such as missing cutlery and a colleague's salad was not dressed at all. They can split cheques and accept Amex. VALUE (4/5) A starter, entree (with leftovers), and espresso came out to be $40 which in my opinion is great value. Of course this is with a Toronto POV, so I'm not entirely sure how this stacks up against the local Kingston area. AMBIENCE (2/5) The front portion has a few booth seats and feels more like a pub with the bar along the side. The backside of the restaurant is a bit more spacious but has the cozy ambience of a mom and pop restaurant. LOCATION (5/5) From my understanding of Downtown Kingston, Grecos is right on THE main street Princess St and has street parking and a few lots around the area. Don't think it gets any better in location in Kingston. OVERALL (3.5/5) The doorway had several award placards over the last few years and combined with the personal recommendation from a friend, I walked in with high expectations. I think the food and service was good, especially for the value, but did not feel like I walked away amazed. Nonetheless, a good restaurant to check out if you're looking for a sit down Greek/Italian spot in Kingston.
