The fact that this store was closed 15 minutes before the posted closing time is completely unacceptable. I arrived at 7:45 PM, fully expecting to still have time to shop before the listed 8:00 PM closing, only to find the store already locked. I called several times, and no one answered. It was still daylight outside, the store appeared completely empty of employees, and I even went up to the door twice because I honestly couldn't believe it. If you're going to close 15, 20, or even 30 minutes early, then the posted hours need to reflect that so customers aren't wasting their time showing up expecting to be able to shop. What makes this even more disappointing is that today, I ended up driving all the way to Stockton to another one of my favorite beauty supply stores that is not Sally's, Luxyl Beauty Supply, and let me just say, they were spectacular. I called at 7:50 PM to make sure they were still open since they close at 9:00, and they absolutely were. I didn't mind driving 35 minutes to get there because they had all my hair supplies, all my goodies, and they even have clothes. Oh my goodness, y'all really need to check them out. At this point, I will not be returning to Sally Beauty. This was the last time. Thank you, buh-bye. read more

Came in here today with my friend to get some bleach to bleach her hair. There was a lady in the front I didn't get a chance to get her name but we asked her for some recommendations on what we can use to bleach her hair but also keep it healthy. She showed us a number of different bleach powders but didn't tell us which one she recommend . We Also asked for some type of serum or hair oil to keep it healthy and she just showed us a number of different items. She kept saying she doesn't really know and kept going to the back to ask her manager as if she was a little kid actually her parents for help . I was honestly confused because these are a bunch of chemicals I'm not just going to get some random thing and put in her hair how did you even get a job here ..I would expect someone that works at Sally's to know what they're selling and what to recommend.. after a few times and going back to talk to the manager the manager came out because she was irritated with all the questions . She came out with a bad attitude and I let her know I don't understand why she's having an attitude we're just trying to get recommendations on what to put on her hair she then threatened to kick me out the store so I started recording her for my safety. The most unprofessional hair supply store I ever been to. It's 2019 and the customer service and racism in this store is not acceptable! I came into this store to buy a scarf for my hair and support a hair supply business in my community knowing I can go to Walmart or Target or any other hair supply shop. As I opened the door to the store wearing braids and a hat on a Monday at 1230pm a female associate (who I assume was a greeter ) immediately asked me if I needed help. I kindly told her no, thank you. As I shut the door behind me the cashier female associate told me that I need to leave my backpack I was wearing at the front. I asked her why and she said that they do not allow large bags in the store. I told her I just came from class (I am taking Graduate science courses for my Masters) and she said I apologize but you have to leave your back pack at the front to continue shopping. I immediately left the store. I have worked in retail, as a cashier, sales associate, and Lead. I have never treated a guest, customer, or client in that way. I could have left my backpack at the front but I have shopped there previously on the weekend when I did not come from class and had a duffel bag and have NEVER been asked to leave my purse at the front. I will not be supporting Sally's on 11th street, Tracy, or in any other capacity. They do not need to prejudice to students when they work down the street from educational institutions. This is simply a reply to the Erica A person who wrote a review just recently. I was in Sallys that same day you & your friend decided to go. I was minding my own business but I'm sorry you & your friend were both very rude to the employee. You both were loud. You were asking a question about the Bondbar line that they have in store & asked the employee what was up with the $0.00 tag one of the items had if that was the case you thought you could get something for free. She told you she wasn't sure because that tag was already like that before she even started working there. I was at the store a couple of days prior. That same employee was there, she helped me as much she could because perhaps you didn't know that she's fairly new as an employee at Sally's. Yes she was going back to ask her manager questions about what you guys were asking, but she was trying no? You both were being consistently rude to the employee & I believe after some time of you guys talking in store that is when the manager came out to see what was going on. You didn't start recording until she told you guys to leave but you missed when she mentioned that you were being nothing but rude which was true. She was clarifying at first that you can leave because you're in her 4 walls & that kind of disrespect that you guys were doing is simply not tolerated. Then you want to pull the phone out trying to make her look guilty or as if she's acting that way for no reason which was completely false. She was talking to you calmly & then the situation escalated. She was telling you you can't record because well, you can't! People nowadays just pull their phones out & tend to leave what happened first out or what they were doing prior to making the situation happen & that is what you did. You waited until she brought the police up, her LP & things like that because you guys simply would not leave. Do your shopping but also be human. You're telling me you have never worked at a place to where you didn't know anything & had to get trained for it or you yourself had to learn things along the way? She was still helping you guys by asking her manager for a little more help & some clarification because she didn't want to sell you guys the wrong products. I defend the manager of this Sally Beauty location & the employee. Don't always believe what you see & read guys. Also, racial profiling? Come on ma'am. Just got my hair cut and highlighted so I stopped by Sally's to get purple shampoo. Jozee was helping me and she showed me where the name brand was as well as a comparable generic. I was pleased with her showing me the options and that she cared about my budget. I was looking at nail polishes and she new the prices of all the different brands and what was on sale. I saw that they had a sale on styling tools. I picked two out and Jozee made sure that I got the absolute best price by taking the time to split up my purchases, helping me get a coupon texted to my phone....etc. I am so appreciative of the time she took to help me and will not hesitate to go back there for all my hair styling needs. Decided to dye my hair out of boredom and came here on a whim to get my supplies. They had all the products I was looking for from their website and you can't beat the prices. Although you can save some if you have a beauty club card with them. It's also a big plus that people who worked here were knowledgeable about the product they're selling and customers questions about them. read more

I have to say, I did walk into the store with relatively low expectations given some of it's horrible reviews that preceded mine. After all, one of the biggest complaints about this place in all of the reviews is customer service. However, my experience was great! The best friend and I were being silly last night playing around with box color from Target. Although it was fun, it looked absolutely horrible this morning when I woke up. I knew I had to fix it immediately. So I headed to Sally's to get some REAL color and fix the disaster I created las night. As soon as I walked in, a young girl greeted me and asked if I needed help. She showed me the color, recommended a brand, and got me everything else I needed, including the gloves I almost walked out with. Bought a hair straightener and it was the best one and most expensive and it was not very good. Used it and tried to not be a complainer but this thing is no good. So I had to get my receipt and box together to return it and it was a little over 60 days since I bought it. Knowing their return policy of not like it return it I took it back and they wouldn't even give me store credit cause it was past 60 days when policy clearly says they will. So I've been here a few times, and the store is quite small. It's located in an older plaza in Tracy on 11th street. This has been here for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately they don't carry the brands that I usually get. Anyway, I recently came here with my mom, this is where she always buys her hair dye. The aisles are really small, so even if someone is kneeling down reading something, you'll have to ask them to move just so you can walk by. I had been meaning to buy some hairspray for myself and figured, this was the time. I asked the lady who was working what hairspray she recommends for medium hold & provides heat protection. She seemed to know what she was talking about, so I bought the one she recommended. I went to buy dye to color my moms hair. I asked the latina looking lady what she recommends. I told her my mom has virgin dark hair and i want it to be a medium brown color. She said it is impossible to dye her hair lighter. I told her its virgin hair and color should take well. She insisted i cant unless i dye her whole head blonde first. Wtf? I then told her i want to tone my hair since it faded and i just died my hair a month ago. She said i can die it darker but then it might be too dark. Poor customer service! Won't be going back , had to contact their corporate office. The sales associate was very rude (Brianna) was her name. I told her I wanted to return an item and I got a free bag with it so I would be returning that as well. She said "yeah I know" hmm someone was having a bad day. Next I asked if there were any specials on there eyelashes, she said very monotone like she hates her job,"yeah buy two get one free" ooooook? Thanks.. I browsed the eyelashes and was ready to get rung up and was waiting for someone to ring me up.. Well as I'm waiting she and her co worker who I later found out was the manager, were just talking out loud about a customer who they hate helping every time she comes in. Really? So I had to go over interrupt their gossip session and ask for help, well Brianna was quite annoyed as if I'm a bother. Anyways I got the help but she was ever more so rude shoving the receipt at me talking fast in a hurry to get me out. I asked to speak to the manager, who turned out to be the gossip buddy.. Okay I go here at least twice a month and buy whatever I need. Every time I see new people. Its crazy. I used to work for this company in the 90's and my how it has changed. Not a happy customer. Customer service was poor. This is the only store that doesn't honor their own "on-line" price. Went in (to keep my business local) to buy something that was on sale online that retails for $99 on sale for $79. I was told the price didn't apply to their store (by the manager) and that their store retails the item for over $100 and that $99 was the sale price and wouldn't honor my print out from the website. She then proceeded to give me a free $25 carry bag with my purchase (that I didn't want.) Wouldn't good customer service suggest they listen to the customer and keep the bag and just honor the $20 price difference? I won't be returning there and NO, I would not recommend this store to my friends! WORST. SERVICE. EVER! I'm not one of those to play the race card but there is absolutely no other explanation!! My sister and I are Caucasian/Mexican but we look mostly white. We were looking at the hair dye and were in the store probably about 30 min and never once did any of the three African-American employees ask if we needed help or if we were finding everything ok. Now normally I wouldn't think anything of it. But five people came in during our time there, all black and the employees were super nice & attentive to them. Made conversation, laughed and joked with them. Asked if they needed help. Etc. again, I still didn't really think anything. Then we get up to the cash register and she never once acknowledged us. She continued talking to the customer behind us. That customer was also African-American. We stood there for 15 min as she tried to get the stupid cash register to work. Not once did she apologize for the wait or let us know there was something wrong with the machine. Nothing. Complete and utter awkward silence. The line was was getting longer behind us so the other employee opened the second cash register. She helped 3 people while we were still waiting for our cashier to ring us up. Still not letting us know what was going on. Finally she turned to her co-worker and asked if she could ring us up cuz her register wasnt working. The only thing said to us the ENTIRE 45 min-1hr we were in the store was "will this be all?" Ridiculous!! I will NOT Go back there, EVER!! read more

My original review was deleted so I'm submitting it again. I wish Sally's addressed my complaint with the urgency they showed removing my review. This proves that the poor customer service is not just in the stores. Here's my original review: If I could give 0 stars for Sally's Tracy location it would be too much. The two associates who assisted me on 5/23 provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. I've never had to call the police department on an associate until this day. And to top it off the district manager obviously doesn't take the situation that occurred in the store that day seriously because I have yet to receive a response to my complaint even though I was promised a call back. One of the associates (Delores) locked my two kids and I in the store after I requested her name and the name of the other associate assisting me. I only know Delores' name because she had on a name tag. The other associate told me with attitude and head shaking "I'm not giving my name to nobody" after I asked for her name 3 times. Since she refused to give her name I took a picture as evidence that she was assisting me. Maybe they don't think locking a customer and two children in the store is serious but when I have to contact the local PD it's a problem. Being upset because you didn't want to honor my coupon code but then found out you had to is one thing, frightening my youngest child makes this a serious problem. But it's ok. I will definitely explore other avenues to get this complaint addressed since me trying to handle it on my own didn't work. read more

Normally I love going here, but today I went in and purchased an eyebrow stencil, it didn't work very well so I was looking for my receipt to return it. After discovering that she did not give me my receipt she just gave me the coupon that printed out, I called to ask if she made a mistake, she blamed me and said that I REFUSED to take the receipt.
